Doja Cat’s ‘97’ Comments On Her Losing Thousands Of Followers Across Social Media

After months of teasing tracks, several name changes, and a record-setting single, Doja Cat’s latest album, Scarlet, is finally here. Given the pure hellfire, the “Attention” rapper has found herself at the center of her choice in body art, her rumored relationship, and more Doja was sure to address most of it on the project.

While the song “Skull And Bones” addresses fans’ theory that the entertainer is a satanist, on “97,” Doja shares her comments on the massive social media unfollow spree led by former fan pages. In July, she took a jab at supporters that crowned themselves “Kittenz” for the juvenile name choice. Then, she doubled down on the social media app Threads, calling out fan pages for their unhealthy, obsessive behavior. This online rant resulted in over 250,000 users unfollowing the musician on Instagram.

On “97,” which was co-written by Doja Cat, Jay Versace, and Sam Barsh and produced by Barsh and Versace, Doja confesses that she has no regrets. In fact, she encourages more to follow suit to help boost her social media analytics.

“Pull up and they smiley instead (actin’ stupid) / Like they wasn’t tryna fight me in Threads (’bout some music) / In a tweet that I’ma probably still stand by (I’m ruthless) / Keep your money, funky b*tch, ’cause I don’t play about (the rumors) / They gon’ buy it, they gon’ pirate, they gon’ play it, they consume it/ If you’re scootin’ let me know, ’cause that’s a comment, that’s a view / And that’s a rating, that’s some hating, that’s engagement I could use / And I could teach y’all how to do this, but I’d much rather be cruisin’,” rapped Doja on the track’s second verse.

Doja Cat’s relationship with supporters and social media has been extreme over the years. But based on “97,” she has realized that it’s all smoke and mirrors. Her happiness is the most important.

However, in recent months, Doja has been trying to renounce her old pop hits. With her new project Scarlet, she has been promising something completely new and fresh. What Does Doja Cat’s ‘Skull And Bones’ Say About Satanism?

Doja Cat is putting it all on the table. Tonight (September 22), the multitalented rapper/popstar dropped her much-anticipated fourth studio album, Scarlet.

On Scarlet, Doja touches on several topics, including her complicated relationship with her fans, and the rumors that have plagued her throughout her career. Over the course of this era, many listeners and viewers have expressed disdain toward the imagery she’s used in her music and visuals. On a new song called “Skull And Bones” from Scarlet, Doja addresses these comments and rumors.

What does Doja Cat’s “Skull And Bones” say about satanism?

On the first verse, Doja seemingly refutes the idea that she sold her soul for fame or success.

“The only thing that I sold was a record / The only thing I folded under was pressure / Can I say I digress? You the aggressor / Now y’all say y’all impressed I’m the successor / I don’t need no intervention or one of ya lectures,” she raps.

On the second verse, she makes it known that she’s God’s favorite, and that she doesn’t need to tamper with satanic forces in order to achieve what she has in her career.

“Trust me baby, God don’t play with hate like that / So you gonna be real upset when he pick Cat / to be the one up on them charts all over the map,” she raps.

Doja Cat Lives Out Her Romantic Teenage Dream In Her ‘Agora Hills’ Video

Doja Cat‘s new album, Scarlet is finally here. Over the course of the album rollout, Doja has explored some new avenues in terms of her sound. Scarlet‘s lead single, “Attention” has a more melodic influence to it, while “Demons” and her No. 1 single “Paint The Town Red” feature her stepping into her rap and rock bags. But tonight (September 22), Doja reminds us of her sweet side with her new single, “Agora Hills.”

On “Agora Hills,” Doja is undeniably in love, and reminds us once again of her multifaceted musical talents. Much of the song is her delivering soft-tinged vocals as she sings “I wanna show you off” about her man, but she also reminds us of her fire rap skills throughout

“Front seat chillin with the window down / I be ten toes down on the dash, getting fast food / Hope you can handle the heat / Put your name in the streets / Get used to my fans looking at you,” she raps, explaining how she wants to make this special man part of her world.

In the song’s accompanying video, directed by Hannah Lux Davis and Doja herself, Doja is seen talking to her lover on the phone in her colorful pink bedroom. Elsewhere in the video, she is joined by her girlfriends, as they dance throughout the city until sunrise in Agora Hills.

Doja Cat Addresses Rumors Of Satanism On Her New Song, ‘Skull And Bones’

Doja Cat’s fourth album Scarlet is finally here. While the rollout for Scarlet has proven somewhat controversial, fans have shown their loyalty, especially as they’ve helped the single “Paint The Town Red” hit No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100. But some aren’t fans of the aesthetic Doja is going for in this era. Many have deemed this video, along with the video for “Demons” as “satanic.” On the album cut “Skull And Bones,” Doja seemingly addresses this controversy.

Over a trippy, ominous beat, Doja dismisses the idea that she sold her soul for fame.

“The only thing that I sold was a record / the only thing I folded under was pressure / Can I say I digress, you the aggressor / Now y’all say y’all impressed I’m the successor,” she raps on the song’s opening verse.

Elsewhere on the song, she more explicitly addresses the rumors, as well as her complicated relationship with her fans.

“Y’all been pushin satan this, and satan that / My fans is yellin ‘least she rich,’ you need that pact / Lookin like I got some things you hate I have / And trust me baby, God don’t play with hate like that / So you gon be real upset when he pick Cat,” she raps.

Doja Cat Previews Bloody “Agora Hills” Music Video, Defends Album Cover

Doja Cat recently hopped on Instagram, teasing a new music video that she has on the way. In the clip, Doja walks into a spooky shower in some red heels, and looks to be washing blood off of herself. As blood begins to pool in the shower drain, the words “‘Agora Hills’ coming soon” flash across the screen. By the looks of things, the new music video should be something straight out of a horror movie, which makes sense considering her other recent releases.

The “Agora Hills” music video preview also comes just ahead of the release of Doja’s new album, Scarlet. The LP is slated for release tomorrow (September 22), and it’s safe to say that fans can’t wait. Her comments section is flooded with supporters dying to see the full video.

Doja Cat Unveils Spooky “Agora Hills” Trailer

Fans have been hyped for the release since Doja dropped off the album’s first single, “Attention,” earlier this summer. The LA-born performer finally unveiled the album’s cover art at the end of last month, but quickly switched it for something different. After sharing the artwork, social media users pointed out that a German metal band was using a strikingly similar cover for their album, which is scheduled to drop on the same day. Doja later shared another image of some spiders from the original artist, revealing that it would take its place.

Since revealing the cover, Doja’s gotten some pushback from fans, who have called for her to change it to something they feel fits the album better. The artist is sticking to her guns, however, recently coming to the artwork’s defense on Twitter. She clapped back at a user calling the image “ugly,” revealing the meaning behind it. “The art I chose for my album is beautiful and I like it a lot,” she wrote. “The two spiders signify conquering your fear. None of my album covers had meaning until this album. You not accepting me was a fear I used to have. I don’t care anymore about satisfying you.” What do you think of Doja Cat’s new music video teaser? Are you looking forward to Scarlet? Doja Cat’s Bare Booty Photo Served As A Tease For Her Next Release Ahead Of Her ‘Scarlet’ Album

By now, it goes without saying that Doja Cat doesn’t hold back. And it pays off. Her “Paint The Town Red” single became 2023’s first rap song to snag No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 earlier this month. The following day, Doja arrived at the 2023 MTV Video Music Awards in nothing but a very revealing spiderweb-esque dress. Once inside, she won the audience over by performing “Attention,” “Paint The Town Red,” and “Demons.”

And so, of course, on Wednesday (September 20), Doja teased her next drop with an Instagram carousel featuring photos of her bare torso and bottom. The caption reads, “tomorrow 9pm PST [earphones emoji]”

Doja’s Scarlet album is due out this Friday, September 22. The 15-track album has “no features,” as she proudly pointed out when revealing the tracklist on September 12. The week prior, Doja Cat gave Entertainment Tonight a glimpse into her process of making it.

“One thing that I wanted to mention was that I have music that came out — these three songs came out, these were the first three songs I made during the period that I was making music,” the Grammy winner said. “And then, there’s a second half where I went to Malibu and I made all this music in 10 days. That half is very different from the first half.”

Up to that point, Doja had released “Attention,” Demons,” and “Paint The Town Red.” Last week, she added “Balut” to the mix.

Doja Cat’s New Album ‘Scarlet’: Everything To Know Including The Release Date, Tracklist & More

The rollout for Doja Cat’s new album Scarlet has been more like a roller coaster — one that Doja herself designed to throw off as many fans as possible, leaving her with only hardcore loyalists and day-ones, people who understand and appreciate her as an artist, not as a product. She scuffed up all the polished, pop-ready surfaces, shaving off her eyebrows and adorning herself in macabre tattoos while delving deeper into the traditionalist hip-hop sounds on which she first cut her teeth.

The strategy, from outside, has had mixed results, but if you ask Doja, it’s working just as she planned. It could also be argued that it’s proven effective commercially as well, with the rollout delivering Doja her second No. 1 single. Now, after a few hiccups regarding the album’s cover art and some indecision about its genre on Doja’s part, Scarlet is just about ready to go. You can check out everything we know about the upcoming album below.

Doja Cat Channels Her Inner Griselda On New Single “Balut”

Doja Cat is gearing up to drop her brand-new album Scarlet on September 22nd. Overall, she is going to be at war with Drake. For All The Dogs is coming out on the same day, and it will be difficult for Doja to make up any ground on the man. At this point, Drizzy is expected to sell upwards of 750K units in the first week. Meanwhile, Doja Cat can probably max out at around 200K. Regardless, this new project promises to bring forth a whole new direction, and fans are curious as to how this album will play out.

Recently, the artist gave us the song “Demons,” which was definitely a change of pace. In the eyes of a lot of fans, this song felt like something Baby Keem would do. Sure, the song was different for Doja, although some did feel like it wasn’t unique. Today, she decided to drop another single, this time called “Balut.” In this new song, Doja goes for a more lowkey approach where she is given the breathing room to spit more bars and take her time dissecting her enemies.

Doja Cat Spits Bars

Interestingly enough, the drums and the piano lines throughout this song give us an ethereal sonic aesthetic. Immediately, it sounds like something Griselda would have been doing in 2019. However, Doja Cat does a great job rapping over this production. It goes to show that she is incredibly talented and versatile. That said, some may make the argument that this is something we have heard before, but just from a different artist.

No matter what, it seems clear that this new album is going to be incredibly diverse in terms of its soundscapes. Let us know what you think about “Balut,” in the comments section below. Additionally, stay tuned to HNHH for the latest news and updates from around the music world. We will always be sure to keep you informed.

Doja Cat Puts Her Haters On Notice With Her New Single, ‘Balut’

Doja Cat’s new album, Scarlet, drops next week — but tonight (September 15), she’s shared a scorching new single. Her latest, “Balut,” features her addressing rumors about herself, and setting herself apart from her peers in the game.

On “Balut,” Doja dismisses the rumors about drug use and reminds the haters of her fire pen game that got her this far.

“Is it coke? Is it crack? Is it meth? / What the f*ck do she put in them hits? / I’m the sh*t, you a real piece of sh*t / I am needed, you a real needy b*tch I’m competing, you are incompetent,” raps Doja on one of the song’s verses, over a downtempo, lo-fi beat.

On the song’s chorus, she lets us know just how easily this rap game comes to her. “It’s like taking candy from a baby,” she says.

While this particular album era has proven controversial for Doja, her talent has shown to outweigh her antics. Scarlet’s second single, “Paint The Town Red,” reached No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 this week, making it the first rap song to top the charts in 2023.

You can listen to “Balut” above.
