Samuel L. Jackson Reflects On His Wife Confronting Tupac For Swearing

During a recent appearance on Sway in the Morning, Samuel L. Jackson discussed his experience working alongside the late Tupac on the 1992 film Juice. “It was great,” he said before revealing that his wife, LaTanya Richardson Jackson, confronted Tupac one day on set. Richardson also worked alongside Tupac and her husband on the film. According to Jackson, she didn’t appreciate Tupac’s foul language, and she was sure to let him know.

Juice — can I think back that far?” Jackson said before starting his story. “‘Pac was walkin’ through that day and he was cussin’ somebody out. My wife grabbed him and was like, ‘Young man, you see all these women sittin’ in here? You can’t be in here cursin.’” Jackson also revealed that when asked if she was aware of who she had just scolded, she replied, “No, I have no idea who he was, but he shouldn’t have been cursing in front of all these women in this room.” Jackson says, “From that point on, every time he saw her, he was like, ‘Hey mom, how you doin?’”

Later on in the interview, the 74-year-old further detailed what it was like working alongside the late artist. “It was a joy to work with somebody who understood what was going on,” he explained. “As much as everybody put ‘Pac in that whole rapping world, he did go to a performance high school. He understood the business of acting.”

Wood Harris also recently shared what it was like to work with Tupac. Earlier this month, he appeared on The Rich Eisen Show where he detailed his experience working with him on the film Above The Rim. “What I gained from 2Pac as a professional was I realized the power of the actor from 2Pac,” he revealed. He shared that he “learned the power of the actor” from Tupac’s behavior on set of the 1994 film.

Samuel L. Jackson’s Tony Loss Reaction Trends On Twitter

Samuel L. Jackson has spent nearly three-quarters of a century walking the Earth, and in that time he’s achieved plenty of accolades. The multi-talent has over 200 acting credits on IMDb to his name and is known to be the second highest-grossing actor of all time, with his previous projects bringing in upwards of $27 billion across the globe. While he’s been nominated for several awards over the years, Jackson doesn’t always win (despite his immense talent). The Pulp Fiction star doesn’t seem to be too bothered by this, and even recently admitted he’d rather play the role of Marvel’s Nick Fury than pick another character just because they’re likely to earn him an Oscar.

On Sunday (June 11), Jackson was among the many famous faces on the red carpet at the Tony Awards, where he was nominated for Best Performance by an Actor in a Featured Role in a Play. The production the 74-year-old appeared in was directed by his wife, LaTanya, who accompanied him to the event. When it was announced that Brandon Uranowitz beat Samuel in the category, cameras caught a comedic reaction on his face, seemingly hinting that he wasn’t expecting to win in the first place.

Brandon Uranowitz Comes Out on Top

Since the moment aired on live television, social media has been cracking jokes about the Star Wars actor. “Sam Jackson never bothers with the fake ‘I’m so happy for them’ face and honestly, I appreciate it,” one person pointed out. “Wow, Samuel L. Jackson DOES NOT want to be at the Tony’s,” another user speculated.

Thankfully, the Washington, D.C. native was later able to redeem himself while presenting the prize for Best Play along with LaTanya. During their time on the stage, he referred to himself as “Samuel L. ‘it’s an honour to be nominated’ Jackson.”

Samuel L. Jackson Shines In Trailer For Upcoming Series “Secret Invasion”

Samuel L. Jackson is the most wanted person on the planet. Well, in the new Secret Invasion trailer, he is. The series was announced more than two years ago, in December of 2020, and is set to be released on June 21. Marvel has kept much of the story under wraps. Little information has been released, as is always the case. What we do know, however, is that Secret Invasion will revolve around a war being fought in the shadows with an alien race. Jackson’s Nick Fury will be at the center of the action, having returned to earth after being “off planet” and allowing one of the Skrulls to act as a stand-in for him. Fans of the comics have noted a large shift in the story in that the Skrulls have been made peaceful. In the comics, however, they are quite the opposite.

In the Marvel comics, the Secret Invasion plot was a large crossover event that began in 2008. The story revealed that the Skrulls, a species of shape-shifting aliens, had been infiltrating Earth for years and had replaced important people with their own operatives. The Skrulls were able to duplicate the memories and personalities of the individuals they were replacing in addition to their external features. The plot line had major implications for the entire superhero community. It showed that many cherished characters in the Marvel universe had been supplanted by Skrulls.

A Return To Fighting Form For Marvel?

The Secret Invasion trailer features a noticeably darker tone than much of the recent material we’ve seen from the MCU. The gritty cinematography and color grading gives the air of an espionage thriller, much in the same vein as Captain America: Winter Soldier. While the trailer is promising, is Secret Invasion a return to fighting form for Marvel? In recent years, fans and critics alike have noted a sharp drop in quality in the MCU, both in storytelling and filmmaking. The newest phase seems to lack direction and focus. As such, it’s unclear what the future holds for Marvel, particularly with the poor box office performance of Ant-Man: Quantamania. The film was supposed to be the big introduction of the newest Avengers villain, Kang. However, it appears that very few actually cared. Still, with Jackson’s Fury as the protagonist, we can at least expect great character work.

In addition to Jackson’s Nick Fury, the show will feature other recognizable characters like Cobie Smulders’ Maria Hill and Don Cheadle’s James Rhodes. The show adds some new faces into the mix, as well. In typical Marvel fashion, they have cast some of the top talents in the industry in the roles. Two notable additions are Olivia Coleman and Emilia Clarke. Coleman, an Oscar winner and all-around celebrated actress, portrays an old ally of Fury’s named Sonya Falsworth. Clarke, who played Danaerys on HBO’s Game of Thrones, is G’iah, a member of the Skrull species. With top-tier talent rounding out the roster, Secret Invasion is shaping up to be one of Marvel’s best outings yet.

Film icon Samuel L. Jackson has received his first Oscar. The 73-year-old star was awarded an honorary Academy Award for his lifetime achievement. The award was given to him by his friend Denzel Washington at the Governor’s Award.

“Sam and I go back in the theater, the Goodman Theatre,” Washington said, according to PEOPLE. “We worked together even before that, at the Negro Ensemble Company. We did a pretty good play called The Soldier’s Play that became great movie, A Soldier’s Story. Wasn’t as good as it would’ve been had Sam been in it, but that’s for another day.”

“Who knows, that little kid from Chattanooga, Tennessee, watching movies, wishing he could be here to get the votes of people who run an organization like this that says, ‘Hey, I deserve something like this,’ thank you, so much,” Jackson said.

Samuel L. Jackson Says He Should Have Won Oscar For Pulp Fiction When Talking About Academy Awards

o

It is no doubt that Samuel L. Jackson is one of the most prolific actors ever. He has starred in over 150 films and his films have collectively grossed over $27 billion worldwide, making him the highest-grossing actor of all time. He has appeared in Academy Award-nominated films, multiple animated films, the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and even Snakes On A Plane. With that said, by now you would have thought an actor of Sam Jackson’s status would have won at least one academy award by now.

In a recent interview with The Times, Jackson said that he should have won Best Supporting Actor for his role in Quentin Tarantino’s classic 1994 film, Pulp Fiction.

“I should have won,” Jackson said. He went on to cite that he should have at least gotten nominated for his role as Gator in Spike Lee’s Jungle Fever. He was beaten out of a nomination by two actors from the film Bugsy.

“My wife and I went to see Bugsy,” he says. “Damn! They got nominated and I didn’t? I guess black folk usually win for doing despicable shit on screen. Like Denzel [Washington] for being a horrible cop in Training Day. All the great stuff he did in uplifting roles like Malcolm X? No — we’ll give it to this motherf***er. So maybe I should have won one. But Oscars don’t move the comma on your cheque — it’s about getting asses in seats and I’ve done a good job of doing that.”

Despite not winning an Academy Award, Jackson is receiving Honorary Oscar at the 2022 Governors Awards on March 25. He also believes that the metrics that determine who wins and who loses are screwed up as well. He thinks that there should be an award for the “most popular movie” and thinks that Spider-Man: No Way Home should win the award because it was definitely the most popular movie of 2021.

“They should! It did what movies did forever — it got people to a big dark room,” he said, adding later, “All movies are valid. Some go to the cinema to be moved dearly. Some like superheroes. If somebody has more butts on seats it just means your audience is not as broad. There are people who have had successful careers but nobody can recite one line of their parts. I’m the guy who says shit that’s on a T-shirt.”
