Oh boy, Prime Video set a premiere date for season 4 of their hit series, The Boys.
If you haven’t checked it out yet, go stream previous seasons. ICYMI, The Boys is based on The New York Times’ best-selling comic series by creators Garth Ennis and Darick Robertson. The Boys Executive was produced by Ennis and Robertson and was developed for the small screen by Eric Kripke.
“In Season Four, the world is on the brink. Victoria Neuman is closer than ever to the Oval Office and under the muscly thumb of Homelander, who is consolidating his power,” the synopsis reads for the eight-episode season. “Butcher, with only months to live, has lost Becca’s son and his job as The Boys’ leader. The rest of the team are fed up with his lies. With the stakes higher than ever, they have to find a way to work together and save the world before it’s too late.”
The Boys stars genre icon Karl Urban, Jack Quaid, Antony Starr, Erin Moriarty, Jessie T. Usher, Laz Alonso, Chace Crawford, Tomer Capone, Karen Fukuhara, Colby Minifie, Claudia Doumit, and Cameron Crovetti. Season 4 is boarding Susan Heyward, Valorie Curry, and Jeffrey Dean Morgan, recently known from The Walking Dead franchise – that should be fun.
Oh, and about that premiere date. The Boys season 4 will kick things off on June 13 with three episodes before resuming a weekly episodic release ending on July 18 with the season finale.
Welcome to Hollywood Giannis Antetokounmpo. Prime Video announced Giannis: The Marvelous Journey, a new documentary hitting the streamer on Feb. 19.
Kristen Lappas direct the doc and will detail the rise of NBA star Giannis Antetokounmpo, from his humble beginnings in Greece to becoming a two time Most Valuable Player on basketball’s biggest stage.
Here’s the synopsis from Prime Video:
The film is an intimate portrait of a global superstar and one of the NBA’s most dominating performers, a two-time league MVP who led the Milwaukee Bucks to a championship in 2021. But his path began a world away from the spotlight, on the streets of Athens, where he was raised on the margins of society, alongside three brothers, by parents who’d immigrated from Nigeria in search of a better life. As the documentary recounts, one day in an internet café, young Giannis was captivated by images of NBA stars, and soon after picked up a basketball. From there unfolded an epic journey, at turns inspiring, heartbreaking, and triumphant, ultimately landing him in his adopted home of Milwaukee, where he emerged as “The Greek Freak,” a superstar who transcends conventional limits, transforming the game with his athleticism and versatility, all the while striving to use the memory of the loss he endured along the way to spearhead an impact far beyond the court.
The documentary will show interviews with Giannis Antetokounmpo, his mother, Veronica Antetokounmpo, siblings Thanasis, who also plays on the Milwaukee Bucks, Kostas, and Alex Antetokounmpo, as well as his fiancée, Mariah Riddlesprigger. Also contributing are Hall of Fame NBA player Jason Kidd, Khris Middleton, Jrue Holiday, Kenny Smith, Vin Baker, and iconic sportscaster Ernie Johnson. This film marks the first glimpse into Antetokounmpo and his family, giving true insight into their real lives.
Improbable Media and Words + Pictures is the production company behind the doc. Producers include Connor Schell and Hannah Beir. Executive producers are Aaron Cohen, Libby Geist, Nick Monroe, and Giorgos Panou.
He’s stretching that wingspan and extending his reach into film production, as Giannis Antetokounmpo has made a huge announcement this week. The Milwaukee Bucks star shared on X that he launched Improbable Media alongside his co-founder, sports analyst Jay Williams. Their first major release will be none other than a feature on Prime Video that centers on the life and career of the Greek-Nigerian standout NBA player.
“Proud to announce the launch of @ImprobableMedia with my family and our first feature-length production,” Antetokounmpo wrote in his post. “It’s the true story about me and my family’s journey and I can’t wait to share it with you. Premieres February 19th on @PrimeVideo.”
The Story Of “The Greek Freak”
Giannis: The Marvelous Journey will, of course, feature the NBA superstar alongside his loved ones. Yet, it will also highlight commentary from people in Antetokounmpo’s inner circle. He comes from an impoverished childhood in Greece as the son of Nigerian immigrants and climbed to the top of the basketball world. His teammates and coaches share stories about Giannis Antetokounmpo’s drive and dedication, offering a rare glimpse into his sphere.
The film is an intimate portrait of a global superstar and one of the NBA’s most dominating performers. This is the two-time league MVP led the Milwaukee Bucks to a championship in 2021. However, before hitting the big leagues, Antetokounmpo was simply the child of parents who moved to a new country for a better life. Viewers will catch never-before-seen photos of the basketball star, chronicling his path—often inspiring, heartbreaking, and triumphant.
Ultimately, his dedication landed him in his adopted home of Milwaukee, where he emerged as “The Greek Freak.” There, he became a superstar who transcended conventional limits, transforming the game with his athleticism and versatility. Moreover, Antetokounmpo accomplishes this while striving to use the memory of the loss he endured to spearhead an impact far beyond the court.
Who Is Featured In The Doc?
Further, Giannis: The Marvelous Journey features interviews with the sports star and his entire family. This includes his mother, Veronica Antetokounmpo; his brothers Thanasis, Kostas, and Alex Antetokounmpo; and his fiancée Mariah Riddlesprigger; as well as basketball luminaries Jason Kidd, Khris Middleton, Jrue Holiday, Kenny Smith, Vin Baker, Ernie Johnson, and more. It marks the family’s first time given first-person accounts on their collective journey.
The documentary is set to be released on February 19. Will you be tuning into Giannis: The Marvelous Journey?
The trailer for The Melodic Blue is here, and Baby Keem is teaming up with Amanda Stenberg (The Hunger Games) in the Prime Video film, executive produced by Kendrick Lamar.
The Melodic Blue is directed by Savannah Setten, who was also behind the camera for Keem’s music video for “No Sense.” Unsurprisingly, the film shares the exact title of Keem’s 2021 debut album. The visual aesthetics are elaborate, and the story feels immersed in an exciting world with Keem playing opposite Stenberg as his love interest.
The Melodic Blue also stars Ja’nai Paye (House Party), Francis Lovehall (Masters of the Air), and Séréna Sy. The film’s trailer, which feels like a cinematic music visual, is the brainchild of the collective pgLang Kendrick Lamar and Dave Free founded.
The official Prime Video logline reads as: “Keem’s internal battle leads us through fragments of memory and temptation as he navigates the depths of The Melodic Blue.”
Jamie Rabineau and Cornell Brown produce the Melodic Blue, and Free is executive producer.
Holiday movies have always been a beloved genre, and Prime Video has them in abundance. These films often revolve around themes of love, family, friendship, and the spirit of giving. They also come in various forms, including romantic comedies, animated adventures, and heartwarming dramas. Admittedly, for some, these films are a guilty pleasure because they can be quite cliché. However, they are enjoyable regardless, and they have never lost their charm.
With Halloween a not-so-distant memory, Thanksgiving and Christmas are just around the corner. Indeed, the most wonderful time of the year is nearly upon us. It’s also quite unbelievable that 2023 is almost at its end. Luckily, Prime Video subscribers have great films at their disposal. The Man Who Invented Christmas (2017)
The story behind the creation of Charles Dickens’s famous book A Christmas Carol is the basis for this biographical comedy-drama. Set in 1843, the movie follows the life of Dickens, played by Dan Stevens. He faces financial difficulties and struggles to develop a new literary success after a series of flops. Under pressure to deliver a hit, Dickens finds inspiration from people and events around him, eventually conceiving the idea for the book. As far as holiday movies go, this is arguably one of the best ones on Prime Video. The film is a heartwarming and whimsical piece that offers a delightful glimpse into the wonderfully creative mind of Charles Dickens.
Lez Bomb (2018)
Lez Bomb is a sapphic comedy-drama that tells the tale of a young woman named Lauren. She returns home for Thanksgiving with the intention of coming out to her family, but things don’t quite go as planned. Lez Bomb was written and directed by Jenna Laurenzo, who also stars in the leading role of Lauren. The film balances its comedy with heartfelt moments and will make for a fun and relatable watch this Thanksgiving. In addition, it offers an interesting and comedic take on the coming-out experience. It also provides both entertaining and meaningful insight into the challenges faced by individuals trying to be open with their loved ones.

The Nightmare Before Christmas (1993)
This stop-motion animated musical film created by Tim Burton is widely regarded as a holiday classic. Last Holiday (2006)
Queen Latifah is a rap icon but has also dominated the acting space excellently. Her performance in this movie is arguably one of her best ever. She portrays Georgia Byrd, a shy and introverted woman, and she nails the character perfectly. When she learns that she has a terminal illness and only a few weeks to live, Georgia’s life takes a dramatic, ironically positive turn. With her remaining time on earth, she decides to live life to the fullest without inhibitions. LL Cool J also stars in this heartwarming and inspirational film that encourages viewers to seize the moment and appreciate the beauty of life.
It’s A Wonderful Life (1946)
Frank Capra’s holiday masterpiece is evergreen in every sense of the word. The movie stars James Stewart as George Bailey, a compassionate but frustrated businessman living in the small town of Bedford Falls. The story unfolds on Christmas Eve when George, feeling overwhelmed by financial difficulties and personal challenges, contemplates suicide. However, his guardian angel, Clarence Odbody (played by Henry Travers), intervenes. He goes on to show George what life in Bedford Falls would have been like if he had never been born.
The powerful message of the movie has rung true in the hearts of individuals and households every year since its initial release. It’s A Wonderful Life is a timeless classic and will continue to be cherished for a very long time. If there’s one movie on this list that you should make sure you watch, it’s this one. It sits atop the list of holiday movies available on Prime Video and even beyond.
You may think you know everything about Tyler Perry’s inspiring rise to success, but think again. The media mogul, who recently tried to bid on BET, is baring it all in his upcoming documentary, titled Maxine’s Baby: The Tyler Perry Story. Viewers are promised an unfiltered foray into the ups and downs that have shaped the billionaire and his media empire. However, from the looks of the emotionally gripping trailer, the story is not for the faint of heart.
What To Expect From Maxine’s Baby: The Tyler Perry Story
Tyler Perry has often been open about his tumultuous upbringing. However, he’s offering fans and onlookers an even closer glimpse into his rollercoaster childhood. The documentary is set to tell Perry’s life story, from his childhood up until his present success. Many notable personalities and important figures in his life are also seen in the trailer, each providing some input on their personal relationships with him.
Moreover, Maxine’s Baby will tell the story of Perry’s relationship with his mother. With her support, the star was able to rise above many of the adversities that presented themselves. The documentary’s intimate feel is evidently a conscious decision, used in order to reel the viewers into a tale of love, heartbreak, failures, and success. As heard in the trailer, and still unknown to many, Perry was born Emmitt Perry Jr. However, he changed his name to Tyler to dissociate from all the overwhelming abuse he suffered at the hands of his father.
“I just could not understand how this man could look at me and hate me with such passion,” Perry said. He has also been open in the past about how his father constantly mistreated him. However, it is unknown whether the documentary will dive into Perry eventually finding out that Emmitt Sr. was not, in fact, his biological father. Nonetheless, his harrowing family dynamic will evidently be touched upon.
Beyond His Personal Life
Although the documentary will focus on the personal life of Tyler Perry, it will also cover his struggle to become a gargantuan producer, writer, and actor in Hollywood. “I had all these people tell me what I would never be. Nobody said what I could be,” he said. He has since become one of the most famous men on the planet, with a large empire on his back. However, the road was not easy. Through his hard work, dedication, faith, and determination to shed off his past, he has worked his way to the very top.
The documentary will also touch on Perry’s unwavering attitude despite the critical reception of many of his projects. “What I will not do is change because some critics think it’s not art,” he said. A lot of his works have, over the years, received considerable flack off of accusations of showing Black people in a negative light. However, Tyler Perry has said in the past that his stories are real stories that need to be told. On the flip side, many continue to shower praises on him for sharing difficult stories that have long affected the Black community.
Maxine’s Baby: The Tyler Perry Story is directed by Gelila Bekele and Armani Ortiz. Perry and Bekele share a son from their previous romantic relationship, which ended in 2020. Ortiz, on the other hand, is somewhat of a protégé to Perry who has worked with him on numerous occasions. It is due to these two long-term relationships that an explicit view of Perry’s older years has been captured authentically.
Bekele and Ortiz will also appear in the documentary — not just behind the scenes. Furthermore, he and Bekele’s son will also make a few appearances. Besides these names, Perry’s longtime friends and confidants Oprah Winfrey and Gayle King will cameo in the doc., along with Perry’s pastor, Bishop T.D. Jakes, who is also seen in the trailer. Rounding out the prominent faces is, of course, Perry’s mother, Willie Maxine Perry.
Release Date And Where To Stream The Tyler Perry Story
On October 27, Maxine’s Baby: The Tyler Perry Story will officially premiere at the 2023 AFI Fest in Hollywood. It will then be available to stream on Prime Video from November 17. The official synopsis reads that the upcoming film “is a tender and intimate portrait of visionary and innovator Tyler Perry and his harrowing-but-faithful road to the top of an industry that didn’t always include him.” From the looks of the trailer, viewers can expect this and much more.
Jamie Foxx is back with yet another project. Despite being taken out of action with a medical emergency in April, Foxx has been getting plenty of screentime. In the past two months, we’ve seen the veteran actor in They Cloned Tyrone and Strays. However, his next project, The Burial, will highlight Foxx in a whole new light. For this project, we get to see Jamie Foxx as a wise-cracking, smooth-talking lawyer in the 1990s.
Set in 1995, The Burial follows the case of Jeremiah “Jerry” O’Keefe, a WW2 fighter ace and beloved funeral home magnate in Mississippi. After being swindled out of his business by the Canadian funeral megacorp, the Loewen Group. Finally in a fight he doesn’t think he can win, O’Keefe retains the services of slick and successful personal injury lawyer Willie E. Gary. Gary must contend with a hotshot attorney representing Loewen as well as his own perceptions of what the case is actually about. The Burial will premiere at TIFF on September 11 and get a full release on Prime Video on October 6.
Foxx, who plays Willie E. Gary, is just one of several big names in this heavy-hitter legal drama. O’Keefe is played by Tommy Lee Jones, who is making his first film appearance since 2020. Meanwhile, Gary’s legal opposition is played by Jurnee Smollett. Furthermore, other recognizable faces include Mamoudou Athie (Archive 81) and Bill Camp.
Additionally, The Burial is one of eight projects that Foxx reportedly has in the works. While many of those projects are on hold due to the ongoing SAG-AFTRA strike, a few could be coming out in the next few months. Foxx is slated to play God in Not Another Church Movie, which is reportedly in post-production. Additionally, there is another legal biopic Signal Hill. Reportedly in post-production, it stars Anthony Mackie as civil rights lawyer Johnny Cochran, best known for leading OJ Simpson’s legal team. Foxx reportedly plays Black Panthers leader Elmer ‘Geronimo’ Pratt.
Rolling Loud Miami is going down next weekend, and it promises to be a truly amazing show. Overall, so many big artists are going to be in attendance. For instance, Travis Scott, Playboi Carti., Lil Uzi Vert, and ASAP Rocky are tapped for the event. Moreover, a recent paid promotion on Instagram claims that Utopia will be performed for the very first time on July 22nd. This is a massive proclamation, and fans are not sure what to make of it. Either way, it is another reason to attend the festival.
In recent years, Rolling Loud has received a bit of criticism for how it had handled streaming. Although many of the sets can be viewed online, the stream isn’t always working to its best abilities. Furthermore, there are some instances where the artists refuse to be streamed. This subsequently leads to issues and a whole bunch of complaints from fans. Now, however, Rolling Loud Miami will be much easier to stream and its all thanks to a new deal with Amazon.
From Friday, July 21st to Sunday, July 23rd, the festival will be available for streaming through Prime Video as of 4 PM EST. Additionally, you will be able to watch the show on Twitch at the Amazon Music and Rolling Loud channels. This is a huge upgrade from previous years, and overall, it is very much in the best interest of fans. This pro-consumer approach is definitely going to be appreciated. For now, however, it is still unknown if every single artist has agreed to a stream.
Hopefully, this ends up being everything fans have hoped for. The festival boasts a truly fantastic lineup, and we’re sure some amazing performances are on the horizon. Let us know if you will be going to Rolling Loud Miami, in the comments section below. Additionally, stay tuned to HNHH for more news from around the music world.
