Mary J. Blige Expresses “Gratitude” On Her Potential Final Album

One of the steadiest and most consistent R&B talents of the modern era may be hanging it up soon. Mary J. Blige is back with her 15th studio album, Gratitude, and during the rollout she revealed that she’s considering retirement. “It might be the last studio album. It might be,” she told People. Then, on top of that, the New York native came across as at peace with where she’s at in her life thanks to music. In speaking with the daytime talk show Sherri about the title of the album, she said, “It’s called Gratitude because that’s where I am. I mean, look at my life right now. I’m in a constant state of gratitude.”

Blige added, “I feel good. I have jobs and opportunities. I’m healthy. My family’s healthy. I have people around that care for me and love me. And I have amazing fans. I’m so grateful to my fans for all the years of love that they’ve given me and support.” We will just have to keep tabs on her going forward, especially when she heads out on tour. Mary J. Blige is taking Gratitude across the US starting at the end of January and wrapping things up on April 14. The For My Fans Tour will also include openers Ne-Yo and Mario, so it could be a nice victory lap for what’s been a stellar career.

Smiley Returns With A New Single “Understand” Amid Potential Album Rollout

Smiley seems to catch a lot of strays online for not being the most thrilling talent on the OVO label. However, the Canadian act is encouraging those doubters to “#dontboxmein📦” This is a hashtag he’s been using quite frequently on his social media accounts, and it could mean something else. In the middle of September, the fifth-year rapper put out “Spill The Tea,” which was delivered in his exaggerated tone, along with his unique cadence and accent. It remains to be a divisive quality despite the fact that Drake has his back. In some cases, the co-sign is enough for some, especially when it comes to someone as big as The Boy. But we again go back to that “#dontboxmein” mantra. Smiley wants to make sure that no one belittles his abilities and that’s what he’s partially conveying on “Understand.”

It’s his newest release, and it might be teaser for a project that’s not officially in the works yet. That quote could be the title for it, but no one knows. However, it does help that Smiley packaged this track with “Spill The Tea.” On “Understand,” he’s making sure that people are aware that he’s a special artist and he’s lived/is living a one-of-a-kind life that most would dream for. The production on the track is ethereal and crisp, and the efforts can be attributed to Pooh Beatz. In terms of the flows, Smiley, is mixing auto-tuned singing with rapping, something he’s been doing for years now. It’s another fine addition to his still-growing catalog and one that we are sure he hopes will succeed. Check it out with the music video link below.

Midwxst Reminds The Non-believers He’s Not Going Anywhere On “No Handouts”

Throughout his career, midwxst has taken some risks. For some, they have paid off. For others, they might’ve not. Regardless of the outcomes for the listeners out there, the South Carolina product isn’t going to stop trying and taking his sound to uncharted territories. On his new single “no handouts,” midwxst seemingly addresses the doubters and haters by reminding them he’s going to be around for a long time. “But there ain’t no one that can count me out / Don’t get tired of my name, ’cause you gon’ see me ’round,” he exclaims over a wild hyperpop instrumental.

In addition to remaining resilient, midwxst is also looking out for the future boundary-pushers. “In the center of the photo, so I can’t be cropped / Don’t regard the s*** they say, because they all just talk (One, two, one, two, three, let’s go).” This soundscape is something that the creative has been rocking with for a little bit now. E3 is the project that sees his dive into it the most. It’s a project that has kept our interest in his journey and remains one that we revisit. Speaking of his musical excursion, midwxst looks to be in the process of curating a new project thanks in part to “no handouts.” Overall, nothing is set yet, but he’s been using the #archangel on a lot of his social media posts lately. We will see what happens with that. But for now, check out the track and music video below.

“No Handouts” – Midwxst

Quotable Lyrics:

No matter what you do
Hope you know that everybody won’t look up to you
Hear some critics and some comments, and they’ll say, “F*** you”
They just do it out of spite, don’t let it get to you
‘Cause you’re everything they’re not
If you believe in yourself, then you can’t be stopped

Sukihana Does Her Best Michael Jackson Impression On “WTFO”

One thing to know about Sukihana is that she’s going to do whatever the f*** she wants, and you just have to accept it. If she says she’s not a musician (which she is), then she isn’t. Does anyone remember that quote from her interview from her interview with Bobbi Althoff? We’re going on a tangent, she’s got some new music out, so let’s talk about it. Sukihana’s latest offering is called “WTFO” (Walk The F*** Out) and it’s about what you expect from her.

It’s braggadocious, blunt, and ratchet, and her authentic self. It’s why her fans respect her and come back for more each and every time. However, there is a bit of a curveball thrown on this record. On her second verse, she randomly busts out Michael Jackson’s iconic “hee-eeh” adlib. Suki then utilizes that to emphasize words such as “free” and “me.” It’s quite hysterical and the fans have been talking about it nonstop since its release. Goofiness aside, this seems to be the second track that’s possibly promoting a new project. Nothing has been formally declared yet, but she dropped “WTFO” and coupled it with the previously released “Suki Suki.” If this turns out to be true, it will be her first full-length effort of her career, which started in 2017.

B****, I feel like Michael Jackson, huh, hee-eeh

Polo G Details His Mental State & Past On “S.I.P.”

Polo G had his fans impatiently waiting for a new album for three whole years. It didn’t help that a fair number of people weren’t the biggest Hall of Fame apologists either. There was some belief out there that the Chicago rapper and singer was losing some of his touch and drive, to an extent. Given all of that, there was hope that he would get back to quality that was present on THE GOAT and Die A Legend. Unfortunately, when he came back in early August with the highly teased HOOD POET, some were let down due to the lack of chances or updates made to his sound.

The “if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it” mentality is something Polo G seems to live by and it’s carrying into “S.I.P.” At times, this method works to his advantage, as his hardcore supporters appreciate the lore and his come-up. Both areas are covered on this introspective cut, as talks about his current mental state and how his unstable childhood may have influenced some of the decisions he makes today. With this coming so soon after HOOD POET, there’s some real speculation from Genius and his contemporaries that a 2.0 version could be arriving sometime soon. For now, check out the track on DSPs or wait until 5 p.m. to watch the premiere of its music video.

Quotable Lyrics:

I kept f***in’ up, I’m the one that hurt my own feelings
I’m up twenty million, still be tryna go back home killin’

High, but I stay to myself, I’m always in my zone, chillin’
Always bound for a set back, fuckin’ with the wrong b****es
Broski fed up, he vent to me, I hear his tone switchin’

Cochise & Amine Are A Fun Pairing On “NASTY”

Since October of last year, Palm Bay, Florida rapper Cochise has been dropping single after single. 10 songs have been released in this span, with “NASTY” featuring Amine being the latest addition. With this pretty extensive stretch, it’s making us wonder how many songs are going to be on this next album. Will they all make the cut, or will some be left alone? However, this question is nearly not as important as the one fans are asking which is, “When is it coming?” According to Cochise’s Instagram post hyping up the release of him and Amine’s “NASTY”. “ALBUM SOON. BILLS ARE DUE”, he wrote.

For now, we are just going to have wait patiently and keep his recent material in our minds as fresh as possible. When it comes to “NASTY”, Cochise is giving us what we are well accustomed to at this point. That is of course really animated and zany rapping with a nice dose of humor added into the mix. The beat (as usual) is also well put together and energetic. Lex Luger and CHASETHEMONEY can be credited in this case. Overall, there are few people out there who are surprised by the Amine feature. To be honest, we aren’t. He shares a lot of similar qualities that Cochise does, especially on the delivery side. It’s a solid collab for sure and we think you should give it a spin.

Now she tellin’ me her problems
I’m like, “Shut up, show your butt” (Shut up)

Adam 22 Claims That Playboi Carti & Kendrick Lamar Have A Collab Coming Very Soon

Throughout 2024, you could make arguments for multiple artists being the rapper of the year. Kendrick Lamar is perhaps the most MVP candidate, thanks to slaying the beast that is Drake. From his diss tracks to his surprise feature on “Like That” and being named the Super Bowl Halftime performer, he’s essentially taken back the crown as the biggest in the game. Then, there’s a case to be made for Playboi Carti as well. His numerous releases on Instagram had his fans in an absolute chokehold, especially with his album being teased. Furthermore, he’s been on some of the biggest songs of the year such as “CARNIVAL” and “Type S***”.

You also can’t forget about “ALL RED”, which has over 51 million streams in just 10 days. It’s built even more excitement around the now confirmed, I AM MUSIC, which could be coming before year’s end. However, despite all of these incredible achievements, each rapper has done things in their own way, especially in terms of their music. It’s why a lot of people aren’t buying a recent claim from controversial hip-hop media figure, Adam22, that they have something in the works. The No Jumper host was casually chatting with one of his most frequent guests, Wack 100, and pretty confidently brought this up.

Adam 22 Says Playboi Carti & Kendrick Lamar Are “Gonna Change The Game

A post shared by DJ Akademiks (@akademik

He says that Playboi is on his way to Compton to shoot a music video with K. Dot. Adam22 says “it’s gonna change the game” and that the former was the one to reach out. He even goes onto claim that Carti dropped the “bisexual vampire style” because Lamar would only do it if he made that change. Still, “The Day The Party Died” and its message about the state of hip-hop has fans not buying this one bit. “That’s like Jesus and Satan linking up”, one IG user jokes. This would break the internet, but we can agree this is a stretch by Adam.

What are your thoughts on Adam22 confidently stating that Playboi Carti and Kendrick Lamar have a collaboration in the works? Are you not buying this like most people online or are you holding out hope? Would this be the biggest team-up of the year? We would like to hear what you have to say, so leave your thoughts in the comments. Additionally, always keep it locked in with HNHH for all of the latest news surrounding Adam22, Playboi Carti, and Kendrick Lamar. Finally, stay with us for everything else going on in the music world.

Juice WRLD’s Estate Drops Off “World Tour (Aquafina)” / “Lightyears” Ahead Of Rumored Album

There will always be a debate around whether or not dropping music posthumously is ethical or not. For the most part, though, it seems that fans of one rapper in particular are willing to throw that question out of the window. That artist we are talking about is Juice WRLD, easily one of the most beloved MCs of the 2010s and maybe ever. His impact on the genre is still being felt even after leaving us way too early back in 2019. Since passing away, we have received two albums and a multitude of singles. Today, we are receiving more of the latter from the estate of Juice WRLD with “World Tour (Aquafina)” and “Lightyears”.

This being billed as a two-pack referred to as The Pre-Party. If you remember, there have been serious talks about a third and final posthumous album in the works called The Party Never Ends. To us, this EP seems like even more confirmation that this is actually going to happen and maybe by the end of the year. Another reason why we feel this is all but true is because of the “Lace It” track we got with Eminem and benny blanco back in December of last year. That single is being billed as potential cut for the record. For now, though, all we can do is wait and spin “World Tour” and “Lightyears”.

Ransom Potentially Previews An Upcoming Posse Tape With “Higher Killer” Featuring Conway The Machine & More

Ransom, Conway the Machine, and producer V Don might be cooking up something serious behind closed doors. According to some fan speculation in the comments section on Ransom’s Instagram, this triple-headed monster is working on a posse project of sorts. “Conway need a tape w ran”. “Is this off the Ran & Con tape we’ve been waiting for 👀”. The “this” that the latter fan is inquiring about is a new Ransom single, “Higher Killer”. The track also includes a verse from the gravelly-voiced MC Lloyd Banks and overall, this record is a slapper front to back no doubt about it.

V Don concocted a dramatic and frenetic East Coast boom-bap special with this one. The lone highlight of the instrumental is hard to choose. You have incredibly dark string sections, as well resonant and rich bass, and a deadly hi-hat to drum ratio. Then, as for the rapping performances, Ransom, Lloyd, and Conway are all locked in right from the start of their respective verses. We can certainly say that about Conway, and he will assuredly shut up the skeptics that have been claiming his recent output hasn’t been consistent. Genius seems to have more info on the project in terms of the title, which is Chaos Is My Ladder Too. If this turns out to all be real, then “Higher Kiler” is a perfect start to the roll out.

C4Y Continues To Build Momentum With “SLOTH (I’S CLOSED)”

C4Y is a fresh face for us at HNHH, but the Chicago, Illinois native has been around the block for a little bit now. He’s got singles dating all the way back to 2020 and project as old as three years. Also something to note about him, is that he is always ready to drop at multiple points throughout the year. In 2021, C4Y gave fans a short, four-track EP called HAUS TAPES, Vol. 1, and OMFG. 2022 consists of B4, C4, and MONEY CARS DRANK, which has a deluxe as well. Then, in 2023 he put out Made Me Laugh and Pain Fosters Art. 2024 has yet to see an LP or EP, but C4Y might nearing one of those with the release of “SLOTH (I’S CLOSED)”.

This is the sixth single from the soon-to-be 24-year-old underground rapper and its coming on the heels of “GREED (PROMISE IM PAID)”. In fact, that track is logged as our first piece for C4Y, so we are happy to be continuing to cover his growth as an artist. Speaking of which, how would we describe his style? Well, we did cite that we hear bits and pieces of Playboi Carti and Lil Baby, previously. We would say that remains true, at least for the former on “SLOTH (I’S CLOSED)”. C4Y isn’t rocking the deep voice that Carti’s been sporting lately, but he sounds more like the latter’s earlier work. He melodically raps in a high register with help of auto-tune, but it doesn’t sound overly processed. We could see this being a new hit for C4Y thanks to the melodies he creates both with his flows and the twinkling piano leads laced into the glitzy instrumental. Hear it for yourself with the link below.
