Math Hoffa Lists His Top Rap Groups Of All Time

The argument surrounding who’s the greatest rap group of all time is certainly a complicated one. There’s a rather long list of legendary groups within hip-hop who are worthy of a mention.

On Tuesday (December 27), battle rapper Math Hoffa took to his Instagram account to share his own personal list. His top five consists of Wu-Tang Clan, The LOX, G-Unit, A Tribe Called Quest and Outkast in that order.

Numbers six to ten in his mind are the Fugees, Run-D.M.C., Onyx, Three 6 Mafia and Goodie Mob. He subsequently ranks Camp Lo eleventh, Dipset at twelfth and gives the thirteenth spot to Das EFX. Obviously, there are a couple of notable exclusions.

“These list[s] get tricky huh? Lol no bias… if you feel we left anyone out, place in the comments below,” the New York native writes in the post’s caption.

Later in the day, he shared a revised list, tweaking it slightly. These are seemingly based on some comments he was receiving. His top two remain the same, but he replaces G-Unit with Mobb Deep in the third spot and slots G-Unit down at seven. Run-D.M.C. moves down to eighth, followed by N.W.A. at ninth and Bone Thugs-N-Harmony at number 10. Although he adds in four more spots, going up to 17, he still has Dipset last.

Of course, Hoffa’s initial list has stirred up some healthy debates on social media. “Math Hoffa GOAT list for hip hop groups is SEWER WATER[!] Outkast 5?? No NWA??? No Public Enemy??!! Give this man Donkey of The Day @cthagod,” writes one Twitter user.

“Math Hoffa’s “greatest groups” ever is laughable. It’s why people have to start saying “FAVORITE”…saying “greatest” opens it up to critique and we’re gonna laugh out the building. that list is ass,” another user writes in response.

Evidently, it seems as though any list will spark debates, considering everyone has their own biases.

Pop Smoke’s Mural Reportedly Vandalized

It’s been nearly three years now since Pop Smoke’s tragic murder from a fatal home invasion gone wrong. He was only 20 years old. Unfortunately, a mural put up in his memory was allegedly vandalized yesterday.

DJ Akademiks took to his Instagram to report the news. “Someone vandalized Pop Smoke’s mural in Brooklyn,” reads the caption from the streamer. “Word to my dead[,] yall n*ccas are mad childish like wtf,” says a screenshot of a Snapchat of the damage. Based on the photo, it appears as though somebody is responsible for writing “Woo K” over top of the mural.

The mural was finished shortly after his passing, in July of 2020. It honors the late rapper’s legacy in Canarsie, Brooklyn, where Pop grew up. According to Complex, Hattas Public Murals is responsible for undertaking and painting the tribute.

“Our hearts go out to the family, friends and fans of the late and beloved Pop Smoke. Much love to you all. And thank you to the community of #Canarsie for your overwhelming support as we painted this memorial mural,” the company wrote in an Instagram afterwards.

Four men have since been charged in Pop Smoke’s murder. They broke into the rented home while intending to rob the rapper of his jewelry. They took his watch during the invasion and subsequently sold it for $2,000. The alleged shooter is only 15 years old.

Ever since the “Dior” rapper’s untimely death, his estate has released two posthumous albums. The first of which is Shoot For The Stars Aim For The Moon. Releasing just five months after his passing, the project serves as a celebration of life and honors his legacy through songs like “Make It Rain” and “Got It On Me.”

The second one, Faith, saw a release in July of 2021. However, it isn’t as successful as its predecessor in continuing the Brooklyn native’s legacy. Fans and publications alike critique the album for containing too much filler content. Additionally, a common sentiment is that it has too many songs that are seemingly unfinished.

Long Live Pop Smoke. It’s certainly heartbreaking to see someone do this to a mural meant to honor him and his music.

Nick Cannon & Alyssa Scott Welcome Daughter, His 12th Child

Congratulatory celebrations are being had by Nick Cannon and Alyssa Scott. The couple has welcomed their newborn daughter into the world, and they’ve shared a portion of their journey. Both Cannon and Scott have been transparent about grieving the loss of their baby boy Zen. However, throughout 2022 there were rumors that Scott was expecting once again.

On Instagram, Scott shared the news of the birth of her and Cannon’s daughter, Halo Marie. Additionally, in a video, Scott shared moments from the delivery, and in the caption, she penned a sweet note.

“December 14 2022. Our lives are forever changed ❤ Zen is in every breath I take.” Scott also wrote, “I know his spirit was with us in the room that morning. I know he is watching down on us, he shows me signs everyday.”

She further continued, “I will hold onto this memory forever. I will remember the sound of Nicks voice saying ‘it’s a girl’ and the look of everything we’ve been through flash across his face. I will remember the sound of her crying out with her first breath and feeling her heartbeat against mine.”

“My sweet girl, I got my surprise!! We love you Halo Marie Cannon! 🤍

It was just about this time last year when Scott and Cannon endured the passing of their five-month-old son, Zen. The infant was diagnosed with several health issues and sadly succumbed to cancer.

This year, Cannon has welcomed several children with Bre Tiesi, Abby De La Rosa, LaNisha Cole, and Brittany Bell. Baby Halo reportedly marks the media mogul’s 12th child.

Devin Booker Out At Least Four Weeks Due To Groin Injury

Devin Booker is off to yet another statistically impressive start to the 2022-23 campaign.

The Shooting Guard is averaging 27 points and nearly six assists while shooting 47.7% from the field this year. However, this is only over the course of the 29 games that he’s played.

Earlier this season, the All-Star missed some time on the court due to hamstring and groin injuries. It now appears as though these injuries are causing issues for him again.

Booker made his return on Sunday (December 25), when Phoenix took on the Denver Nuggets. The game was one of the NBA’s five Christmas Day games this year. However, the Shooting Guard exited the game early after playing just four minutes of action and scoring two points.

On Wednesday (December 28), the Suns announced that the 26-year-old will be out for a minimum of four weeks. “INJURY UPDATE: Further evaluation has confirmed that Devin Booker has sustained a left groin strain,” reads the tweet from the organization. His re-evaluation will take place in four weeks.

In his last game before the initial injury, the world was witness to Booker dropping 58 points in the Suns’ 118-114 win over the New Orleans Pelicans. He also hit six three-pointers, dished out five assists and collected five rebounds.

The Suns are currently fifth in the Western Conference, donning a record of 20-16.

In other news surrounding the Suns, their current owner, Robert Sarver is officially selling the team. After a lengthy investigation earlier this year, it was discovered that the businessman has a history of both sexist and racist behavior.

In September, the league announced Sarver’s one-year suspension from the Suns and Mercury organization, as well as a $10 million dollar fine. This all stems from multiple incidents of him using the n-word and making sexist comments to women in the workplace.

According to a tweet from ESPN‘s Adrian Wojnarowski on December 20, the finalizing of the sale is underway. “Billionaire mortgage lender Mat Ishbia is finalizing a purchase of the Phoenix Suns, sources tell ESPN. The deal, expected to be completed in the near future, would end the tumultuous tenure of owner Robert Sarver,” reads the tweet from Woj.

Finally, how do you think the Suns will fare without Booker in the lineup for the next little while? Comment your thoughts down below. Make sure to stay tuned to HNHH for the latest updates.

TDE’s Punch Shouts Out Doubters & SZA Fans Who “Stayed Patient” For “S.O.S.” Album

SZA dropped her second studio album S.O.S. earlier this month and is already enjoying the success of the highly-anticipated project. In addition to songs like “Kill Bill” and “Blind” going viral on social media, the album has also quickly climbed the charts, solidifying it as a solid follow-up to her Grammy-nominated 2017 album Ctrl.

Punch, president of Top Dawg Entertainment, recently took to his Twitter to acknowledge the album’s stats, admitting, “I never really focus on the numbers too much. Of course I pay attention to them, the quality of the art is always at the forefront for me. But these SOS numbers aren’t too shabby. Lol”

Showing gratitude to SZA’s fans who stayed patient while waiting for the album, Punch also gave a shout-out to the “doubters” in a follow-up tweet.

The record exec continued, “Shout out to the real fans who stayed down and stayed patient. Shout to TDE and the doubters who doubted us. Love y’all.”

“A few of y’all n****s had a lot to say… lol. I won’t bring it up. I see you,” the seasoned rapper then posted.

While sitting down with Rolling Stone’s Music Now podcast, the St. Louis native opened up about feeling nervous about how S.O.S. would be perceived overall.

“If n****s hate it, then great. I can never do music again. And I told my engineer, we’ll move to India and we’ll live on an ashram and we’ll take a vow of silence and that’s it,” she told the outlet earlier this month.

“And it is also really scary that it didn’t go that way because I’m like, now what do I do? And what does this actually mean and when do the tides turn?” SZA then shared. “When does everyone decide that they hate me again or that this sucks? And that’s unhealthy. That’s something I need to talk to my therapist about.”

Antonio Sledge, Young Thug’s Co-Defendent, Enters Guilty Plea

Antonio “Mounk Tounk” Sledge, a suspected YSL member and co-defendant of Young Thug, has reportedly plead guilty to multiple charges. Earlier this month, famed rapper Gunna was released from jail as Young Thug continues to sit behind bars.

According to Law & Crime, Sledge entered a guilty plea for “conspiracy to violate the racketeering act and to being a felon in possession of a firearm.”

He will now give up his Fifth Amendment right to not speak on topics that could incriminate him. This also means that he has to testify truthfully “in any trial emerging from the indictment.”

In exchange, prosecutors will then throw out his firearm charge. They will also “recommend he spend 15 years on probation for the racketeering charge.”

Commenting under DJ Akademik’s post about Sledge’s plea, Tekashi 69 offered his thoughts on the case.

The “GUMMO” rapper wrote, “3rd slide is where ITS Very CLEAR that boy got probation in exchange for his testimony. Can’t even look into the camera. I would just keep scrolling but it’s funny how no one got the same energy for black rappers who openly on video cooperate with the law.”

Sledge is the latest alleged YSL member to enter a plea in the ongoing RICO case. Lil Duke took a plea deal earlier this month, while Gunna was released from prison following his Alford plea.

Releasing a statement after returning home, the “Pushin P” rapper made it clear that he didn’t cooperate with authorities, stating, “While I have agreed to always be truthful, I want to make it perfectly clear that I have NOT made any statements, have NOT been interviewed, have NOT cooperated, have NOT agreed to testify or be a witness for or against any party in the case and have absolutely NO intention of being involved in the trial process in any way.”

With Young Thug still facing RICO charges, the Atlanta rapper is set to later stand trial next month. Check back in with HNHH for new updates on the case.

According to his manager, Coolio was visiting a friend’s home and excused himself to use their bathroom. After some time passed and the friend hadn’t heard back, they checked on him and discovered him on the ground. It is suspected that he suffered a heart attack prior to his death.

Following a brief hiatus, Coolio returned to the rap scene in 2021 with his single “Out Fa da Bag.” He rose to prominence in the ‘90s with his Kylian Mash collab “Gangsta’s Paradise” and for notably rapping on the theme song for Nickelodeon’s “Kenan and Kel.”

Per Billboard, the rapper spoke with the Crypto Island podcast shortly before his death and revealed a new side as he discussed his cryptocurrency knowledge.

“I am actually heavily invested into the metaverse,” he said. “I have a nice swath of land in the metaverse and barring the internet crashing or somebody dropping an EMP (electomagnetic pulse) on the whole world and there being no power, this would be a good deal.”

On the topic of climate change, Coolio revealed, “I’m not so much worried about it. By the time it gets to be a serious problem I’ll be long dead.”

The rapper leaves behind his seven children and a lasting rap legacy. R.I.P.

Kimbella Hints At Why Her & Juelz Santana Called It Quits

Shortly after Kimbella publicly announced her split from Juelz Santana, the reality television star dropped a few hints at why her marriage to the Dipset rapper might have failed.

Posting a video to her Instagram story, Santana’s estranged wife alluded to arguments and feeling alone in a relationship being reasons for the breakup.

Showing clips from various films, the video Kimbella shared included the caption, “Arguing 24/7 because his feelings were all that mattered. Begging him to change so we could make it work. Feeling numb because he made you feel like the problem. Watching him mess up again when he promised he’d change.”

Pro Boxer Gervonta Davis Breaks Silence After Domestic Violence Arrest

A day following Gervonta Davis’ domestic violence arrest on Tuesday night, the professional boxer has broken his silence. In a lengthy Instagram post that has since been deleted, Davis denied that he harmed his daughter and child’s mother, confirmed by The Shade Room as Vanessa Posso.

“DO NOT LET THESE PEOPLE MISGUIDE YOU ALL ON THIS BULLSH*T…THIS WAS JUSY YESTERDAY MOMENTS BEFORE ME AND MY CHILD MOTHER HAD ARGUMENT! WATCHING FROZEN WITH MY OLDEST DAUGHTER ..I NEVER PUT MY HANDS ON MY MOTHER NOR MY [redacted] DAUGHTER ARE YOU F***ING CRAZY!!” he wrote in the post.

“IM NOT A MONSTER I BEEN QUIET FOR TOO LONG,” the Baltimore native then stated. “I DONT HAVE MEDIA TEAM, PR, GOOD LAWYER…spokesman nothing off that.. THATS THE ONLY REASON IM DOING THIS NOW! JUST TO CLEAR MY NAME!”

As HotNewHipHop previously reported, the 28-year-old athlete was arrested in Florida earlier this week and charged with battery domestic violence

Shortly after Davis was taken into custody, several outlets released audio of the 911 call leading up to his arrest. In it, a woman reportedly expressed concerns for her safety and life, saying on the call, “Please help me. I need help, please! I’m trying to go home, I have a baby in the car and he attacked me in front of the kid … He’s going to kill me.”

Unfortunately, this isn’t the first time that the boxing champion has been arrested for domestic violence. According to TMZ, he was given a “simple battery/domestic violence” charge in 2020. Davis had assaulted a woman at a public basketball game, with some of the attack caught on video.

He is expected to fight Hector Luis Garcia on Saturday, January 7. It’s unclear if his legal troubles will impact the highly-anticipated event.
