Joe Budden Says Media Personalities Are Bigger Than Rappers
Joe Budden says that media personalities have become bigger than actual rappers nowadays. The podcast host discussed the state of the industry with Complex after being given the top spot in the outlet’s first-ever Hip-Hop Media Power Ranking.
“I learned that when I started working here,” Budden explained. “Because I was coming in every morning with Ak [Akademics] and all the young people in my life were familiar with him. I wasn’t. So it was like, ‘Oh shit, this guy’s got some following somewhere.’ Like, let me get hip.”

Budden added that media pundits have become so popular that rappers will ride their coattails to promote new music. “And then the rappers often will—let me find a nice way to say this—the rappers see the media people as an opportunity sometimes, and they will attach themselves or attempt to attach themselves to that person for rollout purposes,” Budden said. He also reflected on a growing trend for voices in hip-hop media to appear on each other’s shows. “It is great. And it can be bad sometimes,” he said. “Like when I had Adam on, oh my God, that conversation lived for the next two months.”
Earlier in the interview, Budden also touched on whether he considers what he does to be entertainment or journalism. “It’s 100 percent entertainment,” he said. “It’s definitely entertainment. If it wasn’t entertainment, then I would be spending the night outside of NBC trying to get on their news channel. I’d be at Vice, ‘Hey, let me be your something.’ But it’s entertainment first. It’s probably journalism second [laughs]. For me. Where I saw this thing going a few years ago was news, much like music, was kind of taking the backseat to brands and personalities. So everybody’s delivering the same news. We all have access to the same shit. But how? How are you doing that? Like, what makes people connect to you? What are you doing to establish a relationship with that audience? That’s been my ‘escape the room’ math equation since 2001. How do I develop this connection with a fan through music, through TV? So that’s that same shit today.”

Chuck D Describes Eminem & Black Thought As “Cyborgs”
Chuck D says that both Eminem and Black Thought are “cyborgs.” The legendary Public Enemy rapper spoke about the talents of both artists during an appearance on N.O.R.E. and DJ EFN’s podcast, Drink Champs, on Saturday.
“Eminem and Black Thought… big ups to Black Thought, The Roots, and also Eminem. Cyborgs, man,” Chuck said. “They’re cyborgs, but let me tell you this: we can also get caught up cause’ you know, you got future generations, and then you got people who ain’t gonna even get on the register who are so dope.”
Eminem’s Hall Of Fame Induction Ceremony
From there, Chuck D also praised Skyzoo, who later responded to the comments on Instagram. “The good word on a Sunday from the pastor of hip-hop, the legendary rhyme animal Chuck D,” Skyzoo wrote in response. “An absolute icon. Honored x humbled x grateful to say the least. Thank you OG. The book I studied from as a young aspiring writer had chapters dedicated to your penmanship in it. I learned from you 1,000%. Salute OG.”
Despite Eminem’s immense legacy, Macklemore recently argued that both he and the Detroit rapper are still only “guests” in hip-hop. He made the comments while speaking with Nate Burleson on CBS Mornings. Eminem previously echoed the same sentiment when asked about his place in hip-hop in 2022. “That’s the funny thing. I don’t know if I got a chance to say this yet. The funny s**t is, with the whole beef of a certain person, I never said I wasn’t a guest. I’m absolutely a guest. I never said I wasn’t. I never said I was king of anything, right?” he said at the time, during an interview on KXNG Crooked’s show Crook’s Corner.
Earlier this year, Chuck D released a new docuseries, Fight the Power: How Hip-Hop Changed the World. With it, he cataloged hip-hop’s inception as well as how the genre shaped America’s history over the last four decades.

GloRilla Shoots Her Shot With Rubi Rose
GloRilla just shot her shot with Rubi Rose during a recent interview with Angela Yee- at least, hypothetically. Moreover, the Memphis MC and the two podcast hosts seemed to be discussing the topic of threesomes, with Yee saying she’s never been in one. When Glo said that it would have to be two girls and a guy (but not her main), they got into more details. Furthermore, it was during that discussion that GloRilla revealed that she thinks Rose looks fine, and that the other girl would have to “look like her.”
What’s more is that Angela asked the “F.N.F.” hitmaker about what type of girl she would like in that scenario. Although it might seem like taboo to some, all voices involved spoke with respect and were just having some fun. At the moment of writing this article, DDG’s ex hasn’t responded to these comments. However, given Glo’s incredible visibility and Rubi’s prolific social media presence, a link-up wouldn’t be surprising. Still, both have a lot on their plate at the moment, and one in particular has other romantic matters to address.
GloRilla Praises Rubi Rose’s Looks
Furthermore, Rubi Rose recently got involved in dating rumors with French Montana after they were spotted grabbing dinner. Despite what some fans believed, though, the rapper and model had to dispel those rumors relatively quickly on Twitter. “Dang… i can’t go out to eat now,” she tweeted to fans after she saw a lot of speculation and buzz. While Montana himself hasn’t responded to rumors, it seems that Rose’s tweet was enough to dispel the gossip. The only thing that would make people forget it would be if they’re spotted again, and that remains to be seen.
Meanwhile, GloRilla blasted a new song from Money Man that name drops her and references her body type. “Skinny b***h inside my DMs, she remind me of GloRilla,” he rapped on the track “Saweetie” in which he also references the “ICY GRL.” Then, after fans mentioned it to her on social media, the 23-year-old responded to the mention. “Hey guys what song is this??????????? I hate it,” she tweeted. Regardless of those clapbacks, come back to HNHH for the latest on Rubi Rose and GloRilla.
Cassidy On His Impact: “I Made It More Competitive”
Cassidy says that he made hip-hop more competitive and lyrical. He discussed his impact on the culture during an interview on The Bootleg Kev Podcast while reflecting on the studio session for “6 Minutes.” The New York rapper also argued that his 2005 hit single, “I’m a Hustla,” inspired tons of other songs at the time, including 50 Cent’s “I Get Money.”
“I was in New York, and Wayne came through,” Cassidy began. “I was in the studio with Fab a lot back then; so Fab came through the studio. Like, we really locked in. We wasn’t really like sending records or nothing like that. We really locked in and made it happen. I was the one that put that record together. It wasn’t like a label thing or something like that.”

He continued: “I knew Wayne was rapping at the time and I knew that Fab was rapping at the time so if all of us came and went crazy like that, no hook, it don’t even gotta be about no hook, tryna make a hit record, I know we can do that. That’s easy. But, just talking about spitting, and I knew that would make a mark, so that’s why I wanted to put that record together. I think ever since I came out, I just changed the trajectory of how shit was going. I made it more competitive, made you have to be more lyrical, made you have to have more punchlines and lyrics, and piece up more syllables just to sound like you was spittin’. Because before, you ain’t have nothin’ else to compare it to, but when you can listen to me doing it like this, if you supposed to be lyrical, you gotta be doing it to a certain level. So around that time I came out, you started to see a lot of people change.”
Elsewhere in the interview, Cassidy discussed collaborating with R. Kelly while admitting he regrets not getting to know him better. He also recalled a wild story about DMX showing him a scorpion.

Travis Kelce Hilariously Tries To Name Every NFL Head Coach
Nobody is having a better 2023 than Travis Kelce. The Kansas City tight end has become a Super Bowl champion and host of a famous podcast. Not to mention he has even hosted SNL. The co-host of New Heights is Travis’ brother Jason. The two have become instant comedy and a great show tandem. The show is a lot of comedy, even though the brothers sprinkle in a little bit of seriousness. In the latest episode, Travis attempts to show off his NFL knowledge. Spoiler, it doesn’t go well.
Jason asks Travis to name every NFL head coach from the picture of the coaches taken at the owner meeting. Travis comes off as just naturally funny in the video. Almost as effortless as his play on the field. From the very beginning, spectators can tell that this is going to go poorly for Travis. Jason seems to be having a field day with Travis’s attempt at naming every head coach. He may not know them all, but at least he knew Andy Reid.
Travis Kelce Takes Fun Shot At Bengals
Maybe it wasn’t on purpose, but Travis Kelce forgot the name of one important head coach. When coming up to Bengals head coach Zac Taylor, Travis had no answer for who it was. Luckily brother Jason bailed him out. Still, it felt like a tiny shot at the Bengals, given their history. The Bengals and Chiefs have met in the playoffs in back-to-back seasons. With each team beating the other. Kind of strange Kelce would forget that name. Especially after the AFC Championship smack talk back in January.
Once again, the Kelce brothers deliver with their podcast. It seems as if one clip a week goes viral from the brother duo. New Heights is fun and extremely loose on how the show is run. It’s exactly what you would want on a podcast. New Episodes of the show are released every Wednesday and can be found anywhere you listen to podcasts. What are some of your favorite sports podcasts? Yung Joc On T.I. & Boosie Beef: “I Don’t Know What’s Real No More”
The beef between T.I. and Boosie has been quite interesting and volatile to see, but Yung Joc is one of many who are looking at it with more skeptical mindsets. Moreover, the Bronx-born rapper recently appeared on the My Expert Opinion podcast to talk about his thoughts on their spat. On one hand, Joc recongized that both artists stood firmly by their values and held onto their arguments. However, he also acknowledged that there could be something else at play, suggesting that it could all be for show. After all, Tip’s final album is coming soon, and that means a promo rollout is in order.
“So it’s kind of one thing if you my OG, and I can speak out against you, I can’t migrate to another city and link with a n***a who done did the same thing, and not say nothing,” the 42-year-old began. “So that’s the space Boosie in, and he standing on that. I don’t know if for Tip, cause he’s like ‘Man, I thought we were good.’ But then at the end of the day, I don’t know what’s real no more.
Yung Joc Gives His Two Cents On T.I. and Boosie
“They had the joint album,” he continued. “Now T.I. said that he’s gonna do his last album where he be throwing himself as the king. It could be the press for his new album. ‘Cause it was just that fast with him and Boosie. With Boosie doing that, it’s a lot of people who still love Tip in the way that they’re, ‘You know what? With you doing that, bro, we gon’ support this s**t whole 100%.’
“And there’s some people who love Boosie that are like, “You know what? You stood on that, we gon’ support you,’” he continued. “So I don’t know what the f**k. When I think about marketing, when people talk to me about s**t, I always saw it go wrong. I say some s**t in the background and then, when that s**t come out, n***as be like, ‘Bro, how the f**k you knew that?’” Let us know your take in the comments and return to HNHH for the latest on Yung Joc, Boosie, and T.I.
Michael B. Jordan Recalls Applying At Jack In The Box Before His Acting Career Blew Up: Watch
Michael B. Jordan has become well-known in the industry as both a director and actor, but that doesn’t mean he isn’t still humble. The California native recently joined the R&B Money podcast to explain how life was during his time on The Wire. Contrary to popular belief, he wasn’t always the handsome movie star many know and love him as today. Jordan’s most prevalent memory of that time is how broke he was, despite starring in such an iconic show. People would recognize him in public, and yet his bank account was sitting at an unfortunate zero.
The 36-year-old states in his interview that he was booking multiple jobs in his early career. On several occasions, Jordan was told he was overqualified for the jobs he chose to apply to. “Me and Sterling applying to Jack in the Box. You know what I mean?” He bashfully expresses the embarrassment he felt from having to work in fast food despite his celebrity status. “And these n***as gonna know who I am. So it’s not like oh it’s just a random person. I was willing to take the L.”
Michael B. Jordan Applied To Several Fast Food Joints Before His Financial Success

Still, the Marvel actor can look back on it and laugh as he has secured himself financially. Now, fast food workers are able to recognize him in some of the hottest films hitting theaters recently.
Black Panther, the Creed series, and Without Remorse are just a few of the titles that have landed the Hollywood heartthrob at his current level.
