PnB Rock Was Laid To Rest In Philadelphia After A Dispute Over His Body
PnB Rock was laid to rest this week in a Muslim funeral after some reported difficulty recovering his body. According to TMZ, the family had expressed concerns about following Janazah, the religious custom whereby a prayer must be performed over the body of the deceased, when Los Angeles police refused to release the body due to the ongoing investigation into PnB Rock’s murder. There was also some dispute over the medical examiner performing an autopsy due to a religious conflict — while California law requires an autopsy in the case of violent death, the family argued that it goes against their religion.
According to HipHopDX, the service was held on Wednesday (September 21) at the Khadijah Alderman Funeral Home in Philadelphia, and was attended by the mother of fellow late rapper XXXTentacion, with whom Rock had collaborated on “Bad Vibes Forever,” “Changes,” and “Middle Child.”

PnB Rock was shot and killed on September 12 while dining at Roscoe’s House Of Chicken ’N Waffles in South Los Angeles. Although police initially believed that he was targeted in a robbery, a new report suggested that investigators are now looking into the possibility that the shooting was perpetrated by Rock’s “known enemies” from Atlanta and Philadelphia.
Investigators Looking Into “Known Enemies” Being Responsible For Murder Of PnB Rock
Los Angeles investigators are reportedly looking into the possiblity of PnB Rock’s “known enemies” as being responsible for his murder.
LAPD sources told TMZ that the case is moving in “several concurrent directions” with one involving investigators digging into PnB Rock’s past to see if the murder/robbery was spurred by a previous beef. Detectives working the case are especially interested in his ties to Atlanta, where he spent some years, and in his hometown of Philadelphia.
If this new theory proves to be true, it would debunk investigators original idea that Rock’s murder was at the hands of random robbers who found his location through his Instagram. His girlfriend Stephanie was originally blamed for his death after she shared their location on her Instagram, suggesting that she might have set him up. However, investigators revealed that PnB Rock had added his location to an Instagram story too.
Investigators are still in the process of identifying the get away car used in the murder. TMZ says that they are tracking the car down using video feeds and are getting a lot of tips on the whereabouts and owners of the vehicle.
It has been over a week since PnB Rock’s tragic passing. Many artists and fans have come out with tributes for the late rapper. PnB Rock’s death has also sparked a conversation on the senseless killings of rappers and entertainers, leading some, such as Fat Joe, to believe that rappers are an “endangered species.”

Los Angeles Police Are Reportedly Investigating PnB Rock’s ‘Known Enemies’ For Murder Suspects
Los Angeles police are reportedly looking into the possibility that one of PnB Rock’s “known enemies” is responsible for the rapper’s murder at an LA restaurant earlier this month, according to TMZ. The investigation has detectives checking on connections in Rock’s hometown, Philadelphia, as well as Atlanta, for any suggestion that his death was premeditated and not a spur-of-the-moment robbery attempt as originally thought.
Rock was dining at Roscoe’s House Of Chicken ’N Waffles in South Los Angeles on September 12 when he was approached by an unknown assailant who apparently demanded he hand over his jewelry. After a short struggle, Rock was shot as the gunman escaped, and was pronounced dead after being transported to a nearby hospital. Los Angeles police suggested that the killer may have been tipped off by the rapper’s social media tags, which he posted before entering the restaurant.
Fans had previously discussed the possibility that he’d been targeted due to his posts on Twitter, with many lashing out at commenters like Nicki Minaj who warned against entertainers posting their locations online, drawing parallels to the recent death of New York rapper Pop Smoke during a home invasion after accidentally revealing his temporary address on Instagram. Meanwhile, local artists have admonished both out-of-towners and locals to stop flashing jewelry and also stop engaging in reckless robbery attempts.
Roddy Ricch Addresses His Hometown With An Urgent Message In The Wake Of PnB Rock’s Murder
A week after the murder of PnB Rock in Los Angeles, one of the city’s most prominent native sons addressed his hometown with an urgent message. Roddy Ricch, who was born and bred in Compton, the same notorious LA suburb that gave the world NWA, Kendrick Lamar, and the Williams sisters, posted a rare missive on social media regarding the murder, sharing his thoughts via Instagram Story on Tuesday (Sept 20).
“LA! Usually I try to mind my business and let the world rotate but we gotta do better,” he wrote. “It’s too much senseless violence. Too much opportunity and motivation to take things other people work hard for. It’s too much life to live to take someone else’s away. I love my city but we can’t keep going out like this. Before you know it, it’ll be nobody left to take from or kill. Let’s stay on point stay aware and find better ways to pursue our dreams because this shit turning into ALL NIGHTMARES.”
Roddy’s message is the latest in an ongoing discussion among rap fans that have posited LA as a hotspot of violence against rappers. In the past three years, multiple prominent rappers have been killed in LA, including Nipsey Hussle, Pop Smoke, and Drakeo The Ruler. Of course, nearly every city has seen increased incidents of violence including Young Dolph, Archie Eversole, Trouble, JayDa Youngan, and more. These incidents have been attributed to any number of reasons, from botched strong-arm robberies to gang rivalries.
Unfortunately, what appears to be an epidemic among rappers is again merely a microcosm of larger social ills especially wealth inequality, lack of mental health treatment for Black and Latino communities, and deeply ingrained, toxic notions of masculinity. Equally, unfortunately, LA can appear to be a center point of this violence, because so much of the music industry is based there, meaning that there are more rappers there at any given time to be preyed upon by hungry stick-up kids — as was recently pointed out by PnB Rock himself before his death.
The only permanent solution is to change the environment for the better, addressing the inequalities that leave so many angry and desperate enough to take such extreme measures. Until then, Uncle Ice-T might have the best advice: Tuck in those chains and stay off social media.

On September 12, Rakim Allen, better known as PnB Rock, tragically died at the age of 30 after being shot at Roscoe’s Chicken And Waffles in Los Angeles. It has been reported that the album landed at No. 125 on September 19, after debuting and peaking at No. 28 in February 2017.

In a Fox 11 broadcast from Wednesday, September 14, news anchor Hailey Winslow said that she spoke with Chief Michael Moore, who stated that PnB Rock posted himself at the Roscoe’s location on Instagram. “He was targeted because of an Instagram post, there were actually a couple: one from the rapper himself in the back parking lot when they first got here giving somebody enough time to get here and kill him,” Moore said.
Winslow clarified that the Chief “does believe that he was targeted because of the Instagram post. Now, I talked for an extensive amount of time to the property manager here who is actually the one who gave him the chest compressions, the CPR trying to save his life, and he confirmed with me that the rapper posted on Instagram in the back parking lot in a Cadillac with his girlfriend telling people that they were here.”
Roscoe’s Location Opens One Day Following The Murder of PnB Rock
The restaurant where slain rapper PnB Rock, real name Rakim Allen, was murdered on Monday is open for business again. According to reports the 30-year-old “Selfish” artist was dining with his girlfriend at Roscoe’s Chicken and Waffles in South L.A, when he was shot and robbed of his jewelry.
The restaurant opened yesterday, with staff saying they had cleaned the interior. Roscoe’s was practically empty on Tuesday, as a gruesome video showing the Philly native fighting for his life and bleeding out on the floor circulated social media.
TMZ reported employees who were working during the shooting were given the day off. Some have called the decision to open the restaurant so soon disrespectful while others have questioned the thoroughness of the cleaning.
Rock’s girlfriend and child’s mother, Steph Sibounheuang posted their location on her IG stories that has led to much speculation of the cause of his attack. While PnB Rock was seen flashing his jewelry on his Insta story earlier that same day.
According to the LA Times, Los Angeles Police Chief Michel Moore revealed the Instagram post with geo tagging to Roscoe’s may have led to his killing.
Moore said the fatal attack “occurred soon after the rapper was tagged online as being at the restaurant,” and police are investigating whether that is what prompted the robbery. Police are still working to identify the suspect.
Continue the conversation on social media.

PnB Rock’s body is Set to be released to family amidst ongoing tensions
While PnB Rock‘s untimely death took a toll on the music industry and hip-hop community, his family is naturally grieving even more- and apparently, after many struggles, will soon get the late artist’s body from Los Angeles back to his hometown of Philadelphia.
PnB Rock’s family reportedly wanted the late artist’s body immediately because of religious reasons, but the Los Angeles medical examiner declined to release the body immediately since PnB Rock’s death is part of a larger homicide investigation. Islamic customs generally forbid autopsies, but the Los Angeles Country medical examiner’s official position was that an autopsy is required by law in certain situations, including a homicide investigation.
PnB Rock’s younger brother, PnB Meen, has spent the last week expressing his grief and sharing posts showing love for his late brother. However, it appeared that he and his family are struggling to get PnB’s body released to them. Early Saturday, he uploaded (and deleted shortly after) a picture of his late brother with a caption:
“We been Having trouble getting My brothers back to Philadelphia”…”the state of Los Angeles Claiming they Have some type of Law, goin against ours As Muslims. Now I have no clue when his Janazah”…” It’s not right yo it’s goin on a week”…”prayers Up I got you big Bro and ya Daughters.”
PnB Rock’s family reportedly showed up at the medical examiner’s office and LAPD was called to diffuse the situation.
However, later on Saturday, TMZ reported that the medical examiner’s office was ready to release the body to the family.
Janazah is part of the traditional Islamic funeral ritual. The Islamic faith has a series of preparations that they undertake within 72 hours of death to prepare the deceased’s body for burial. The Janazah is the funeral prayer that requests the deceased’s forgiveness.
The medical examiner released the autopsy findings Friday, saying PnB Rock died from a gunshot wound to his back/chest, classifying his death as a homicide.
