A Los Angeles County judge sentenced Freddie Lee Trone, 42, to 31 years to life in prison for his role in the murder of rapper PnB Rock, according to CBS News. Last month, a jury found Trone guilty of murder, conspiracy to commit robbery, and two counts of second-degree robbery.

Prosecutors argued that Trone directed his 17-year-old son to shoot and kill PnB Rock, whose real name was Rakim Allen, while the rapper was dining with his fiancée at Roscoe’s House of Chicken & Waffles in South Los Angeles in 2022. Trone’s son entered the restaurant, demanded Allen’s jewelry, and fatally shot him.

Despite video evidence showing Trone in the parking lot shortly before the shooting, he denied involvement, claiming he was there to conduct business for his nearby beauty shop. However, the jury ultimately convicted him of the charges.

“I want to extend my deepest condolences to the family, friends, and fans of Rakim Allen,” District Attorney George Gascón said. “His life was cut short by an act of violence that no family should have to endure.”

Trone’s son, now 19, has also been charged but remains in custody as the court evaluates his competency to stand trial.

A co-defendant, Tremont Jones, was convicted of two counts of robbery and conspiracy to commit robbery in connection with the same incident. However, Jones was not charged with murder and was sentenced to 12 years in prison.

September 12, 2024, marked the second death anniversary of the late rapper PnB Rock. Back in August, two men alleged to have been involved with the “Zaza” rapper’s tragic death were found guilty of murder, robbery, and conspiracy. Now, according to TMZ, each have formally been sentenced.

The outlet reports that Freddie Trone was sentenced to 31 years to life in prison. Trone’s sentencing factors in his one count of murder, two counts of robbery, and one of conspiracy conviction. Trone allegedly spearheaded the fatal shooting, provided his then armed his 17-year-old son with a gun, and sent him into the restaurant where PnB Rock was to rob him. While Tremont Jones received a sentence of 12 years after being found guilty of two counts of robbery and one of conspiracy for altering Trone to PnB Rock’s location.

Sadly, this devastating fight for justice isn’t quite over yet for PnB Rock’s family. In July, Trone’s son, the last suspect allegedly involved in the shooting reportedly lacked competency to stand trial.

Stephanie Sibounheuang, PnB Rock’s girlfriend, witnessed the heartbreaking incident. Weeks after his death, penned a note on Instagram about the ordeal, writing: “I am 100% not ok… It takes so much prayer and spiritual therapy to gain the strength to do the simple things in life now… I will never understand a loss so close. I feel so empty. My world is dark now. My heart is broken for the kids.”

Father Of Alleged PnB Rock Shooter Sentenced To 31 Years To Life In Prison

The murder of PnB Rock shocked the music world in 2022. The rapper was shot in a South Los Angeles restaurant when an attempted robbery turned fatal. It’s been a lengthy process to bring the responsible parties to justice, but it appears as though it finally happened on September 23. Freddie Lee Trone, the father of PnB Rock’s alleged killer, was sentenced to 31 years to life in prison. Trone’s son was deemed unfit to stand trial, so he bore the brunt of the legal punishment on Monday afternoon.

This is not an instance of a father taking the fall for his son, however. Freddie Lee Trone is believed to be the mastermind behind PnB Rock’s death. According to ABC 7, Trone was the one who ordered the hit on the rapper. Trone’s son was, consequently, deemed unfit to stand trial, as he merely following his father’s orders. The second defendant in the PnB Rock murder case, Tremont Jones, was sentenced to 12 years in prison. PnB Rock’s mother, Deannea Allen, made a statement in court following Trone’s sentencing. She voiced what many people following the case felt, with regards to putting one’s own child in harm’s way for monetary gain.

“As a parent, I do not understand,” Allen said directly to Trone. “I’ve been trying these two whole years – I do not understand how a parent could directly put their child in danger.” She also noted the damage that Freddie Lee Trone’s actions have had on everybody around him. “That one action had a ripple effect, and it has ruined many lives,” Allen added. The most sobering section of her statement, however, came when she voiced sympathy for the man who shot her son. She made it clear that she felt bad for Trone’s child, given the negative influence he was forced to live under.

“I’ve watched your son’s life unfold. He has had a horrible life,” Allen asserted. I shouldn’t feel sorry for this young man, but I do. Just as a parent. I just want you to put yourself in my shoes and our family’s shoes.” Trone was ultimately found guilty of felony murder, as well as two counts of robbery and one count of conspiracy. The second defendant, Jones, was found guilty of two counts of robbery.

PnB Rock Receives Touching Tribute From His Girlfriend On His Death’s Anniversary

PnB Rock tragically passed away two years ago, and the sands of time have yet to fully wash away the pain of his loss. Still, his family, loved ones, supporters, and colleagues continue to honor his memory, celebrate his life, and keep him within theirs with a lot of passion and dedication. The late rapper’s girlfriend, Stephanie Sibounheuang, took to Instagram this week to post a tribute to him on the second anniversary of his death. Even though it’s still incredibly hard to reckon with this tragedy and recover from the suffering that it inflicted, these loving recollections and professions of love go a long way to provide catharsis, constance, and eventually, peace and legacy.

“2 years without you,” Stephanie Sibounheuang wrote of PnB Rock. “It doesn’t get easier. You just get stronger. I miss you, I love you, I think about you all day long. Strange to say, as time goes on… I become more and more obsessed with you every day. It can’t be normal. Nonetheless, Can’t wait to see you in paradise for eternity. Forever in my heart [infinity sign emoji] @pnbrock.”

Furthermore, this follows news from last month that PnB Rock’s killers were found guilty of his murder on all counts. Per Rolling Stone, Freddie Trone faced conviction for felony murder, two counts of robbery, and one count of conspiracy. On the other hand, his 17-year-old son – the shooter in this case – is currently unfit for trial based on the latest court update. His father was his getaway driver. The court also deemed another suspect (Tremont Jones) guilty of two counts of robbery and one count of conspiracy.

“I’m elated,” PnB Rock’s mother Deanna Allen told Rolling Stone concerning the verdict. “I wanted to jump up and scream, ‘Hallelujah.’ I’m so happy it was quick. We got justice for Rakim. I feel better knowing they’ll be in jail for a long time.” Sadly, this news fell under darker context two weeks ago when Wack 100 spoke about Rock’s decision to not have security. Regardless of how we look back at this horror, the need for change, advocacy, and remembrance remains.

The Roscoe’s Chicken and Waffles Restaurant on the corner of Main and Manchester in Los Angeles will forever be a landmark in Hip Hop because it is the place where a group of armed assailants shot and killed Philly rapper PnB Rock back in 2022.

A source inside the restaurant states PnB Rock was the target of a robbery. Los Angeles police captain Kelly Muniz spoke to The Los Angeles Times and stated Rock, born Rakim Allen, was shown a weapon by the suspect, who eventually took a shot.

Three people, including a father and son duo, were eventually captured and charged for PnB’s death. 45-year-old Tremont Navon Jones was present with Freddie Trone, who was the getaway driver and father of the juvenile who executed the robbery and murder. Recently, Wack 100 retold a story involving the late PnB Rock. A couple of years ago, PnB Rock was killed during a robbery while he was eating at a restaurant. It was a tragic event that left the entire hip-hop world in mourning. Since that time, there have been uncomfortable conversations surrounding the concept of security and whether or not every single artist should have it. As Wack 100 reveals, he asked PnB Rock about not having security, and it led to an eerie answer.

Wack 100 Recounts A Story

“God got me,” PnB Rock said to Wack 100. Wack asked the question because he noticed the artist wearing extravagant jewelry all while having no one around him to stand guard. Ultimately, this decision turned out to be a bad one. Moreover, the part about god having his back is now being looked upon with negative hindsight. Regardless, his death remains a tragedy and it’s horrible that this is now the discourse being had.

2 Of PnB Rock’s Alleged Killers Have Been Found Guilty Of Murder, Robbery, And Conspiracy

Two men accused of shooting and killing Philadelphia rapper PnB Rock at a Roscoe’s Chicken And Waffles in September 2022 have been found guilty on all the charges against them, which included murder, robbery, and conspiracy to commit a felony. According to Rolling Stone, the jury deliberated for less than four hours before returning the guilty verdict; 42-year-old Freddie Trone was found guilty of murder, two counts of robbery, and one of conspiracy for masterminding the deadly shooting, arming his 17-year-old son and sending him into the restaurant to rob Rock, while Tremont Jones, 46, was found guilty of two counts of robbery, and one of conspiracy for tipping off Trone.

Earlier this summer, it was reported that the teen shooter was not competent to stand trial. He remains in detention on the recommendation of expert evaluators.

Rock’s mother, Deannea Allen, told Rolling Stone she was “elated” by the outome, saying, “I wanted to jump up and scream, ‘Hallelujah.’ I’m so happy it was quick. We got justice for Rakim. I feel better knowing they’ll be in jail for a long time.”

While Jones’ defense argued that he didn’t have anything to do with the robbery plot, and Trone’s argued that his son acted independently, stealing his car keys and going around to pick up a separate group of people to commit the robbery, the jury didn’t believe that the alibis provided by either held up.

According To Reports, PnB Rock’s Alleged Shooter ‘Lacks Competency’ To Stand Trial

The second anniversary of PnB Rock’s tragic death is quickly approaching. Unfortunately, the “Forever Never” rapper’s death has not yet received justice in the court of law. As family, fans, and the hip-hop community continue to mourned him, a new courtroom update has inflicted further heartbreak.

According to Rolling Stone, the alleged shooter of PnB Rock was deemed incompetent to stand trial and this isn’t the first time.

On July 26, Sharonda P. Bradford, the California Superior Court Commissioner, revealed to the outlet that the charged individual had received “a range of services” during his detainment. However, despite those measures, an expert argued that he wasn’t fit to stand trial.

“The recommendation is that the previous orders remain,” he wrote. “The proceedings remain suspended, remediation continues.”

An update in the matter is expected to be announced next month.

So far, the other persons charged in connection with PnB Rock’s murder have formerly entered their pleas. Freddie Trone, the father of the accused teenage shooter (discussed above), reportedly plead not guilty to all the charges filed against him (one count of murder, two counts of robbery, and one count of conspiracy to commit a felony).

The third co-defendant, Tremont Jones, also entered a pled of not guilty on his charges (two counts of robbery, one count of conspiracy, and one count of being a felon in possession of a firearm).

Jones is accused of providing information to Trone and his supposed son as to PnB Rock’s location the day of the shooting.

Judge In PnB Rock’s Murder Case Deems Alleged Teen Shooter Not Fit To Stand Trial

On July 23, 2024, the murder trial for the late PnB Rock began. The Philadelphia artist was fatally shot at a Roscoe’s Chicken ‘N Waffles in South Los Angeles, California on September 12, 2022. The belief is the killer is a 17-year-old male and that he was instructed by his father, Freddie Trone. According to previous news reports, Freddie was also the getaway driver and a fugitive at the time of the crime. Additionally, the alleged teenage murderer was recently done serving jail time. Finally, Shauntel Trone, Freddie’s 38-year-old wife, was also an arrested suspect. But it seems her involvement is still up in the air.

The initial statements were given by Los Angeles County Deputy District Attorney, Timothy Richardson, to a jury four women and eight men. Later, Mr. Trone’s lawyer, Winston McKesson, said there isn’t enough evidence to support his client’s involvement in the murder. Now that several hours have gone by, there is another major development in this trial. According to XXL, Rolling Stone discovered that the judge came to the conclusion that the alleged teen gunman is not fit to stand trial.

The juvenile court judge cited the reason for this decision stems from the lack of mental capacity to follow a criminal proceeding. Another detail revealed in this court update is that PnB Rock was shot three times. Once in his chest and then twice in his back. This has fans of the artist completely floored and pissed off. “Everybody special ed when they gotta face a judge huh?”, one IG user writes. “But he had the mental capacity to watch PnB girlfriend ig story, figure out which waffle house he was dining at, picking up a gun, driving to the location and shooting PnB? Nah, sentence him for life”, adds another.
