Tory Lanez Adds “Skate On Jake” & “Sweat It Out” To His Prison Tapes Collection

Tory Lanez is upholding steadfast promise to his fans as he drops off “Sweat It Out” and “Skate on Jake”. These are the newest additions to his Prison Tapes playlist that he announced on July 24 and started two days later. This is his way of delivering material to his fans while he serves his 10-year prison bout for shooting Megan Thee Stallion. Originally, the Brampton, Canada native was dropping two “Lost Tapes” per week which started at the beginning of last month. These are songs that Tory and his producers recorded throughout various points in his career.

Some go back to 2015, and others are as recent as 2020. They are now a part of this playlist and continue to be this week too. Additionally, though, Tory is recording new music in real time while being locked up and he had been doing that for the past two weeks. Those releases include “Cell 245”, “Wish I Never Met You”, “Shots Come For Free”, and “Know What You Need”. For this weekend of August 9, Tory Lanez is going back to the vault this time around as “Sweat It Out” and “Skate on Jake” are past works from 2019 and 2020, respectively. Also, as per usual with these two packs, Tory is constantly reminding you of his abilities to rap and belt out some singing cuts. You can give them each a spin with the links down below.

Quotable Lyrics From “Sweat It Out”:

I keep ovеrplaying them sheets wrapped on the red legs
Wrapped around my head, then pull up comes a best friend
Oh yeah that’s so nasty
I’ve been smoking strong and glad y’all get along
Cause y’all gon’ need to be close

Tory Lanez Becomes The First Artist To Achieve This Impressive Streaming Feat

While Tory Lanez is currently behind bars for shooting Megan Thee Stallion, his music and fanbase are still as active as ever. Moreover, he recently dropped some new tracks for his die-hards to enjoy, “Know What You Need” and “Shots Come For Free,” after figuring out a way to record music from prison. But the Canadian artist is also seeing a lot of success with his previously released tracks, with his song “The Color Violet” marking a never-before-seen career feat. The record now has over 1 billion streams across all platforms, thus becoming the first song ever from any artist to do so with zero playlist support.

This description is a little vague, but we assume that it means that platforms like Spotify and Apple Music did not include “The Color Violet” on their curated, editorial, or official playlists. Tory Lanez should be very proud of this achievement, and very grateful to his fanbase for their support despite his actions. This news also arrives amid more curious and odd news concerning him, as his good friend Adin Ross suggested that he would ask Donald Trump to pardon him and set him free if he’s elected.

Tory Lanez’s “The Color Violet” Is The First Of Its Kind In The Streaming World

Elsewhere, Tory Lanez also told Adin Ross via a phone call that he graduated high school while incarcerated and enrolled in college. “I’m great,” he expressed. “I know that a lot of people sometimes when they hear prison or they hear somebody’s down, they think n***as in the corner somewhere bawling his eyes out,” remarking on his “great space” mentally and “bettering [himself] in every single way.”

“A n***a just graduated high school, enrolled in college,” Tory Lanez added. “Never thought I’d do that. But I’m taking this moment and I’m taking advantage over everything that’s good. I’m a f***ing high school dropout that just graduated high school. That s**t matters to me. So, it’s the small things that just have me feeling good about life right now.” There’s still a lot of baggage left over from the Megan Thee Stallion case, but it’s clear that this singular moment will not define his life and career, regardless of whether you support him, like his art, or not.

Jhene Aiko & Khalid Set The Tone Of Our “R&B Season” Playlist Update

As summer reaches its peak and fall draws closer, our R&B Season playlist only continues to heat up. Last week, we saw some solid releases from various fan favorites of the genre. Jhene Aiko leads the pack with all the positive vibes, crooning about finding the inner strength and wisdom to let go of a relationship that’s run its course on “guidance.” She channels her guiding light on the ethereal track, which could best be described as a self-love anthem, delivering optimistic lyrics about freedom, hope, and embracing a new season of one’s life. The song also arrived alongside an equally dreamy piano-only version.

Next up on our R&B Season playlist is Khalid, who unveiled his third studio album Sincere on Friday. The hitmaker admits that the project’s been a long time coming, and fans agree that it was certainly worth the wait. He enters our playlist with his track “Heatstroke,” which is a considerable departure from Aiko’s entry.

The melancholy cut embodies the end of summer and sees Khalid compare the changing of seasons to a changing relationship. He sings about watching a romance come to a close, while still feeling hopeful that they can turn things around. It’s certainly a standout on the album and showcases the creative maturity he aimed for with this latest release.

Finally, Kehlani teamed up with Jordan Adetunji for a remix of his hit track, “Kehlani.” Considering that the song was based on her, it’s only fitting that she hopped on, and listeners aren’t disappointed. She delivers the same kind of “boss” energy that inspired the original single, making for a fun addition to one of the hottest songs of the summer. What do you think of our latest R&B Season playlist entries? What was your favorite release of the week? If you’re stressed out or happy about Joe Biden dropping out of the 2024 U.S. presidential race, then match the occasion by chilling out or celebrate with our latest R&B Season playlist update, rounding up the best of the best the genre had to offer with this week’s releases. The headliner this time around is Childish Gambino’s new album Bando Stone And The New World, his final project under the moniker and his swan song that sums up his artistic talents. Soulful cuts like “In The Night” with Amaarae and Jorja Smith are gorgeously lush, and we thank Donald Glover for the amazing art that his musical persona gave us over the past fifteen or so years.

In addition, we have a generational crossover with Usher’s remix of 4batz’s “act iv: fckin u again (18+).” Over a slow, muddy, and laidback R&B instrumental, the two singers show off a lot of chemistry and emulate some truly sensual vibes with their lyrics and deliveries. While they might have different levels of showmanship in your eyes, their vocal tones meld quite well together. Also, the more straightforward percussion on this track makes for a nice fusion of the old and the new.

Elsewhere on our R&B Season playlist update this week, you’ll also find the latest single from Khalid, the chilled-out “Ground.” The production here is mostly atmospheric, with a lot of reverb making the stark drums and low-key synth pads all the more ethereal. Vocally, the dynamic cut boasts low croons and soft reaches into a higher pitch, and it all works well as an overall smoky approach. It’s also a narratively reflective record, looking back at innocuous memories and feeling grounded within them.

Finally, we wanted to shout out the new Blxst album, I’ll Always Come Find You. There’s a lot of catchiness and creative genre fusions all throughout, but the bouncy house rhythms and occasional hits of distortion on “I Need Your Love” with Ty Dolla $ign are a particular highlight. Let us know what your favorite R&B Season playlist inclusion was this week, as well as what else we missed, down there in the comments section below. As the summer heats up, so does our Fire Emoji playlist, whose newest update rounds up the best of the best hip-hop that dropped this week. There are a lot of big releases to talk about, and one of those is Denzel Curry’s new project King Of The Mischievous South Vol. 2. Across 15 tracks, fiery verses, and bombastic guest performances, the Florida native built a hard-hitting and consistent body of work led by highlights like “HOODLUMZ” with PlayThatBoiZay and A$AP Rocky and “SET IT” with Maxo Kream. In addition, Big Sean fully launched the hype behind his next album with the new single “Yes.”

Elsewhere on our Fire Emoji playlist, you’ll find one of the most exciting, talked-about, and anticipated releases this summer: Childish Gambino’s new album Bando Stone And The New World. It feels like a summary of Donald Glover’s entire discography, bringing lush and soulful jams plus boisterous and aggressive lyrical displays. If you’re looking for the more amped-up side of Bando Stone, “Yoshinoya” contains possibly the most impressive rap performance on the LP. Also, the Yeat-assisted “Cruisin’” is a futuristic banger that continues the 2093 creative’s excellent streak in 2024.

However, if you’re looking for more straightforward trunk-knockers on Fire Emoji this week, we’ve got you covered with Rob49 and Cardi B’s new collab, “On Dat Money.” Thanks to a high-octane percussive pattern, equally rapid flows, and a lot of vivid and impactful flexes, it’s one of the most gritty cuts that dropped this week. Speaking of femcees, Culture Jam brought together BIA, Lakeyah, and Flau’jae for the new track “Can’t Get Enough,” which takes more of a clubby bounce. It’s a pretty minimal record overall, but cool and confident lyrical performances take center stage without complaint.

Rich The Kid also made his full-length comeback this week with Life’s A Gamble, on which “Not In The Mood” featuring Offset is a particularly wavy cut. Finally, we want to salute Lil Yachty for his woozy and buzzy new single “Lets Get On Dey A**.” Let us know what your favorite Fire Emoji inclusion was this week, as well as what else we missed, down there in the comments section below. Check the playlist out above and, as always, come back to HNHH for the latest killer hip-hop drops around the clock.

Tink & Zacari Chill Us Out On Our New “R&B Season” Playlist Update: Stream

If you were too busy this weekend to catch up on new music, don’t worry: our latest R&B Season playlist update is here to round up the best of the best R&B this week. Our first pick comes from Tink, who just dropped her new album Winter’s Diary 5 with a robust 16 tracks and some variety throughout to speed things up and slow them down. In particular, we’d recommend the Skilla Baby-assisted “Playa” for its fitting fusion of earworm melodies and a bouncy Detroit or West Coast-inspired beat. Thanks to engaging flows, rubbery bass, and very dreamy keys and chimes throughout, this song is as much of a vibe as it is a banger.

However, if you’re looking for some more straightforward R&B, then Zacari and Ty Dolla $ign have you covered with their new collaboration, “Ave Maria.” This is from the former’s new album Bliss, and it’s a pretty cool balance between melodic cadences and an earthy but still woozy instrumental. Even though it’s not topically the most romantic track either has ever done, the sultriness and atmosphere really comes through in the gospel-inspired production. There are also plenty of electronic embellishments throughout that also make this cut a bit more dynamic.

Elsewhere on our new R&B Season update, we have a much more old-school and grand offering from Camper, Ari Lennox, and Jeremih titled “War.” The brash horns and patient kicks on this cut are a true highlight, in addition to the gorgeous vocals from the artists involved, of course. Not only that, but it’s also able to maintain a soulful and vintage aesthetic despite its chop-ups of the kicks and instrumentation. It’s a very compelling and seamless combination that’s hard to pull off and even harder to emulate naturally.

Finally, we’d be remiss not to mention Isaiah Falls’ new album Drugs N’ Lullabies. While there are numerous standouts throughout, we’d recommend the drowsy and intoxicating “GOLD ON MY TEETH” with Clicklak as a taster. Let us know what your favorite R&B Season inclusion was this week, as well as what else we missed, down in the comments section below. Check the playlist out above and, as always, come back to HNHH for more stunning music releases around the clock.

Eminem Scorches The Rap Game On Our New “Fire Emoji” Playlist Update: Stream

Welcome back to our Fire Emoji playlist update, where we rounded up the best of the best hip-hop releases of the week for your convenience. Moreover, we have a big release leading the way this week: Eminem’s highly anticipated new album, The Death Of Slim Shady (Coup De Grâce). While there are definitely some more tender, somber, and light-hearted moments on the project, it’s also full of fiery bangers and a whole lot of bars. If you want a taster of the LP before diving in, we’d recommend the opener “Renaissance,” the JID-assisted “Fuel,” and the Sly Pyper-assisted “Lucifer” to get an idea of what you’re in for.

Elsewhere on Fire Emoji, and speaking of new albums, we also wanted to shout out Jay Worthy and DāM-FunK’s new project, Magic Hour. It’s also a lengthy and expansive release, featuring a lot of awesome guests and embracing a fully drenched West Coast aesthetic. As far as highlights, we’d look no further than the bouncy, smooth, and summery “Heartstop” featuring Channel Tres. Thanks to funky bass, nostalgic keys, and some old-school drums, it sounds like a wonderful throwback with a lot of contemporary vocal charisma.

In addition, Fire Emoji also boasts a lot of hot new collaborations this week, including BossMan Dlow and Lil Baby’s new team-up, “PJ.” It’s a pretty straightforward trap banger with boastful bars and simple but still engaging flows, but the real highlight is hearing these MCs trade the mic. As for other collabs, we also got a Cali/ATL/Detroit team-up with YG, Lil Yachty, and Babyface Ray’s new single, “STUPID.” The bounce is absolutely undeniable, and each rapper takes turns with some comical bars and fit-like-a-glove flows.

Ice Spice and Central Cee also linked up with a lot of chemistry for a new style-melding single, mixing New York and UK drill with Jersey club on “Did It First.” Finally, Veeze and Rylo Rodriguez gifted fans with a shimmery, laidback, and woozy new single titled “F*cked A Fan.” Let us know what your favorite Fire Emoji inclusion was this week, as well as what else we missed, down in the comments section below. Childish Gambino & Amaarae Explore New Worlds On Our Latest “R&B Season” Playlist Update: Stream

We hope you had a great Fourth of July weekend whether you’re in the U.S. or not, and what better way to chill out pst-party than with some R&B-adjacent jams? Moreover, our newest update of our R&B Season playlist rounded up the best of the best music drops of the week, starting off big with Childish Gambino’s new single “Lithonia.” The preview for his next album, Bando Stone & The New World, is actually more of an alt-rock-inspired piece with dramatic vocals, grand drums and pianos, and heavy electric guitars. It’s yet another tool in Donald Glover’s ever-expansive box of styles, influences, and skills, and we can’t wait to see what the rest of the project holds.

In addition, the R&B world also graced us with an extended version of one of 2023’s best albums with Amaarae’s roses are red, tears are blue expansion of Fountain Baby. There are two particular highlights here we wanted to mention: the summery jam that is “wanted” with Naomi Sharon and the more upbeat and hard-hitting “jehova witness.” Either way, no matter where you look on this project, you’ll find sharp melodies, dreamy sonic atmospheres, and a really peppy approach to song structures. Of course, you’ll also be marveled with the Ghanaian-American singer’s distinctly high and captivating vocal tone.

Elsewhere on our R&B Season playlist update, you’ll also find a new remix of “The Message” from OVO’s Majid Jordan. It’s a pretty chill and measured house track, building up its rattles and stark percs patiently as watery synths stay calmly in the background. The vocal performance, light pianos, and eventual acoustic guitar strums are a very tender addition, and the track never loses its soothing nature. Most importantly, the track’s long runtime gives you plenty of time to lose yourself in the timbres and fall under the song’s spell.

Speaking of intoxicating atmospheres, RAAHiiM and Isaiah Falls go drowsy and sultry with their slow-burning collab, “IMISSTORONTO (Been A While).” Finally, we wanted to point you to SAHXL’s “NEGLIGENT” remix with Kaash Paige, which is probably the most classically R&B-sounding song on our update this week. Let us know what your favorite R&B Season inclusion was this week, as well as what else we missed, down in the comments section below. Eminem & Killer Mike Show Off Their Pens On Our New “Fire Emoji” Playlist Update: Stream

The second half of 2024 is musically kicking off with quite a bang, and our latest Fire Emoji playlist update is here to round up the best of the best hip-hop that dropped this week. Moreover, we’re almost at the release date for one of the most anticipated albums of the year: Eminem’s The Death Of Slim Shady (Coup De Grâce). Marshall Mathers lit a fire under this hype with the Detroit-repping new single “Tobey” with Big Sean and BabyTron. Across three fast and fiery verses, menacing and minimal production, and combative and confident charisma, this is exactly what fans needed to get them ready for the project.

Furthermore, another huge release on Fire Emoji this week was Killer Mike’s “HUMBLE ME,” on which he addresses his controversial Grammys arrest. As far as the sound and progression of this new song, it’s a hard-hitting Southern affair whose distorted sampling and passionate lyrical delivery still retain a lot of soul. Speaking of passion, Trae Tha Truth and J. Cole display bucketloads of it in big and small ways on the “Trae Tha Truth In Ibiza” remix. Through rapid bars, tender sampling, and a laidback and crisp drum pattern, it’s one of the most pleasant listens you’ll find this week in rap music.

But 42 Dugg isn’t concerned with pleasantries, as he and Rylo Rodriguez prove on the bombastic and irreverent “Case Closed.” It’s a highlight on Dugg’s new LP, 4eva Us Neva Them, and make sure you peep the tracklist for more bangers worthy of a Fire Emoji inclusion. In addition, there’s a similar relentless fire and gritty presentation on Rob49, Moneybagg Yo, Skilla Baby, and BossMan Dlow’s “Homebody” remix. While the melody and beat here aren’t much to write home about, these four MCs take up all your attention.

Elsewhere, Quavo and Lana Del Rey surprised many listeners with their moody and genre-fusing collab, “Tough.” Finally, we wanted to shout out KYLE and Hit-Boy’s grounded and reflective chemistry on the chilled-out track, “Dirty.” Let us know what your favorite Fire Emoji inclusion was this week, as well as what else we missed, down in the comments section below. Drake & Camila Cabello Bring The Summer To Our New “R&B Season” Playlist Update: Stream

Welcome to the second half of 2024, which our new R&B Season playlist is here to commemorate. For this last week of June, we rounded up the best new R&B-related releases to drop around Friday (June 28) for your listening convenience. Of course, we have some big collaborations to talk about first between Drake and Camila Cabello on her new album C,XOXO. “HOT UPTOWN” is their breezy and slightly dancehall-inspired duet that will probably be one of the songs of the summer, whereas Drizzy’s “Uugly” interlude is more of a lonely night after a hot day. In both examples, the melodies and the vocal control is pretty solid.

Elsewhere on our R&B Season playlist update, we also have a new single to enjoy and vibe out to from Tinashe titled “Getting No Sleep.” She’s had a phenomenal year so far, and to see this momentum continue to build and rise is an absolute delight. This new cut continues some of the interesting electronic fusions on BB/ANG3L, building on breathy and soothing vocals with rickety percussion and deep bass. It’s definitely one of the most calm and pleasant sonic atmospheres you’ll hear this week, as well as a solid indicator of what greatness is on the way with Quantum Baby.

In addition, we wanted to shout out the new Lucky Daye album Algorithm for its creative melds of R&B melodies, gritty instrumentation, and woozy soundscapes. In particular, the track “Think Different” is a big highlight thanks to rusty live drum tones, dynamic vocal switches, eerie synth lines, and buzzing bass. Eventually, it builds with more soaring synthesizers, accentuated vocal harmonies, and more exploratory sung licks and drum fills. It’s certainly a very intoxicating and sultry mood, and one that works really well across the whole LP.

We’d be remiss not to mention the new Zacari and BEAM collaboration “Faith + Sight,” which is one of the more minimal but dreamy songs this week. Finally, don’t miss Jeremih, Chris Brown, and Bryson Tiller’s latest jam “Wait On It” for some great chemistry between these R&B mainstays. Let us know what your favorite inclusion was on this week’s playlist update, as well as what else we missed, down in the comments section below.
