Megan Thee Stallion Accepts Planned Parenthood’s Catalyst Of Change Award At 2024 Gala

It’s been an undoubtedly busy few months for Megan Thee Stallion. Luckily, it doesn’t look like she has any plans of slowing down. Following the explosive release of two new singles earlier this year, Meg signed a unique new deal with Warner Music Group, which allows her to maintain her independence while still taking advantage of the label’s “distribution and marketing resources.” She also gearing up for her Hot Girl Summer tour alongside GloRilla, which is slated to begin next month. On top of all of that, the femcee even has a new album in the works. Fans expect to hear it later this year.

Meg’s schedule is certainly hectic, but she never fails to make time for what she believes in. Earlier this week, for example, she stopped by the annual Planned Parenthood Gala in Lower Manhattan. There, she was honored with the 2024 Catalyst of Change Award for being a vocal advocate for women’s reproductive healthcare.

“It feels like women have to fight harder than ever to make their own choices regarding their own bodies, families and futures,” she said upon accepting the award. “We need to create communities where women can receive sexual and reproductive healthcare with the love, respect, and compassion that they deserve.” The event was also attended by various other pro-choice celebrities, including Patricia Arquette and Busy Philipps. Each table at the gala cost somewhere between $10K and $250K, and all proceeds go to the non-profit.

Meg has been outspoken about her stance on abortion rights, calling out her home state of Texas at Glastonbury in 2022. “Texas really embarrassing me right now,” she said at the time. “And I want to have it on the record that the motherf*cking hot girls and the hot boys do not support this bullsh*t that y’all campaigning for. My body, my motherf*cking choice.” What do you think of Megan Thee Stallion being honored with the 2024 Catalyst of Change Award? Nicki Minaj’s Barbz React To Megan Thee Stallion’s Planned Parenthood Honor

Megan Thee Stallion has done a lot in terms of advocacy, both as a businesswoman making moves and as an artist just expressing herself. Moreover, Planned Parenthood of Greater New York recently announced that they would give her the organization’s honor as an entrepreneur and social influence in the entertainment world. It’s unclear in which form the nonprofit will manifest this honor; a plaque, a ceremony, or something else? Regardless, Nike’s newest collaborator receives the praise for being an “extraordinary advocate” through her “music and performances [which] have shined a light on women’s empowerment, mental health and social justice.”

“An outspoken advocate for women’s rights and Planned Parenthood, Megan has used her global platform to draw attention to the organization’s mission and work,” Planned Parenthood’s statement continued. “She also launched The Pete and Thomas Foundation, a nonprofit organization focused on uplifting and assisting women, children, senior citizens, and underserved communities in Houston, Texas and across the world.” However, Nicki Minaj fans took significant issue with this given their beef. For those unaware, the Barbz are under the impression that Megan Thee Stallion tried to pressure the Pink Friday 2 MC into getting an abortion.

Nicki Minaj’s Barbz Target Megan Thee Stallion’s Planned Parenthood Honor: See Comments

“Imagine telling someone you didn’t want a drink…” Nicki Minaj said of the matter back in 2022 on Queen Radio, although she didn’t specifically name (or subliminally allude to) any specific person. “You know, because you were, at the time, possibly pregnant. Because you were actively trying to have a baby. Imagine that person saying, ‘Oh girl, you can go to the clinic!

“Imagine posting photos that you’re pregnant… and the person doesn’t even like it or say congratulations,” she continued. “But then, when you post that Beyoncé sent you flowers congratulating you, the person then tries to attempt to send you flowers thinking that, ‘Oh, I could use this opportunity as I use everyone else. She’ll post that I sent her flowers.’ I didn’t even let them s**ts in my motherf***ing house.” Meg denied claims that she was Nicki’s target, who had an abortion at age 16. Still, their since-escalated feud led Minaj and her fanbase to hold this allegation against her once more. Latto Teams With Planned Parenthood To Advocate For Abortion Rights And Access

Latto has been very vocal about women’s rights in her music, but she isn’t afraid to step away from the booth and approach the matter in a different way. In a recent public service announcement, the “Big Energy” artist joined Planned Parenthood in an effort to advocate for abortion rights and access after the controversial Roe vs. Wade decision.

In a Youtube video, the 23-year-old passionately spoke about the state of the country as it relates to pregnant women. “We already know who’s going to be hurt the most by these ridiculous abortion bans: Black women, Brown women, the LGBTQ+ community, and communities with low incomes,” and added “Because of this country’s history of racism and discrimination, these folks already have a hard time getting the health care they need. We all deserve to be safe and it’s every person’s right to make decisions about their own bodies.”

The Columbus artist concluded her PSA with “As an artist, I want to use my platform to let these politicians know: My body is for no one to control, but me.”

Though what comes of this partnership is unclear at the moment, Latto will be recognized for her advocacy within music too at the upcoming MTV Video Music Awards when she receives the Video For Good award for her latest single “P*ssy.”

Lizzo Teams with Live Nation for $1 Million Donating to Planned Parenthood

Lizzo Takes Part in Tik Tok Challenge by Eating Oreos and Mustard

Following the Supreme Court decision to overturn Roe v. Wade, Lizzo and Live Nation have teamed together for a $1 million donation to Planned Parenthood.

“I’m pledging $500k from my upcoming tour to Planned Parenthood,” Lizzo announced on Twitter. “Live Nation agreed to match— to make it 1 MILLION dollars.”

She added, “The most important thing is action & loud voices. @plannedparenthood @abortionfunds & organizations like them— will need funding to continue offering services to people who are most harmed by this ban.”

The Supreme Court overturned Roe V. Wade Friday morning, jeopardizing the ability to get abortions across America. With states already passing legislation to stop abortions, certain states like Illinois and California are highlighting how they are still open to women who need the service. Additional support for women came from Dick’s Sporting Goods CEO who announced travel reimbursement for employees.

Megan The Stallion, Billie Eilish, Olivia Rodrigo, And So Many Others Sign A Pro-Roe V. Wade Ad

As talk of an apparently impending overturn of Roe v. Wade spreads, people are using their influence to take action. Now, a bunch of musicians have come together to do just that, by attaching their names to a new full-page New York Times ad from Bans Off Our Bodies and Planned Parenthood.

The ad reads, “The Supreme Court is planning to overturn Roe v. Wade, taking away the constitutional right to abortion. Our power to plan our own futures and control our own bodies depends on our ability to access sexual and reproductive health care, including abortion. We are Artists. Creators. Storytellers. We are the new generation stepping into our power. Now we are being robbed of our power. WE WILL NOT GO BACK — AND WE WILL NOT BACK DOWN.”

Below that are the names of 160 young artists who signed the ad. Some of the musicians who appear include Angel Olsen, Ariana Grande, Ashe, Ashnikko, Bethany Cosentino, Billie Eilish, Blu DeTiger, Camila Cabello, Cautious Clay, Clairo, Dave Burd (Lil Dicky), Demi Lovato, Dorian Electra, Finneas, Gayle, Grandson, Halsey, Hayley Kiyoko, Holly Humberstone, Karlie Kloss, Kelsey Lu, King Princess, Lauren Jauregui, Lauv, Lykke Li, Madison Beer, Megan Thee Stallion, Meghan Trainor, Miley Cyrus, Mitski, Noah Cyrus, Olivia Rodrigo, Paramore, Phoebe Bridgers, Pink Sweats, Pom Pom Squad, Princess Nokia, Rebecca Black, The Regrettes, Rina Sawayama, Selena Gomez, Shawn Mendes, Snail Mail, Soccer Mommy, Sunflower Bean, Tate McRae, Tinashe, Weyes Blood, and X Ambassadors.

Alexis McGill Johnson, president and CEO of Planned Parenthood Federation Of America, also offered a statement, saying, “Should the Supreme Court take away the constitutional right to safe, legal abortion, young people stand to lose the most. So many of us — who grew up with the understanding that Roe was settled law — could have never imagined that our own children would have fewer rights and less freedom over their own bodies and futures. What we see in young people from all walks of life is that they aren’t backing down — not today, not ever. Like the artists who signed on to this ad, their resolve to keep bans off their bodies is a source of hope during a dark time, and we are determined to keep fighting alongside them, for them.”
