“Pink Friday 2” Projected To Top Album Chart, Breaks Spotify Record For Female Hip-Hop

Pink Friday 2 is expected to debut at No. 1 when it becomes chart-eligible next week. According to HDD, the album’s first-week projections currently sit at a very strong 170,000-190,000 units. That should be more than enough to see Pink Friday 2 jump right to the top of the Billboard chart. If that becomes the case, it will be Nicki Minaj’s first No. 1 album since Pink Friday: Roman Reloaded in 2012. Both The Pinkprint and Queen peaked at No. 2 in 2014 and 2018 respectively.

Furthermore, per Chart Data on X, Pink Friday 2 has broken Spotify’s record for a female hip-hop debut on the platform. The album is also currently at No. 1 on Apple Music’s real-time chart. The previous record was held by a pair of Doja Cat albums – Scarlet and Planet Her. The Barbz, of course, are absolutely over the moon about the success of Pink Friday 2.

Nicki Minaj Thanks J. Cole For Pink Friday 2 Collab

Meanwhile, Minaj herself took to social media to personally thank J. Cole for collaborating on “Let Me Calm Down”. “This man J. Cole had a 2 hour talk with me. 2. Two!!!! Didn’t realize I was sitting on a therapist couch but ummm😩2 days later I heard this verse & couldn’t stop crying,” Minaj began her post. “In a world where we know EXACTLY how & WHEN to tear each other apart, there are still Kings & Queens who know how to put ppl back together. Patch them up. Heal them. Empower them. Understand them. Listen to them. Make them do the most beautiful thing a human being can do,” she continued.

Charlamagne Tha God Thinks Nicki Minaj Needed More Rollout For Pink Friday 2

Pink Friday 2 is already receiving high praise from across the industry. However, Charlamagne Tha God thought that the album didn’t get enough hype before release. “I hate that this album didn’t have a bigger rollout. We knew it was coming out but it’s Nicki Minaj. Whoever she’s signed to…Nicki needed and deserved a bigger rollout. She got records on this album. Why wouldn’t a single come out? Why wouldn’t a big video come out?” Charlemagne said on The Breakfast Club. Later in the conversation, he accused Nicki’s label of not having enough of a plan for the release. He noted this was especially apparent when she had to move the release date due to ColleGrove 2.

Pink Friday 2 did have two singles preceding its release. However, both were released well before the album was either announced or its release date revealed. Furthermore, as Charlamagne said, the album is stacked with big-name features such as Drake, and Future. However, the only thing those tracks received before the album was controversy. Additionally, while the album was also preceded by the AI fan collaboration “Gag City”, Charlamagne is right in arguing that Pink Friday 2 got a surprisingly muted release.

Now that the final weeks of December are here, the remaining New Music Friday arrivals are trickling in. Nicki Minaj made sure we ended on a high note yesterday (December 8) with her first LP since 2018’s Queen. After a few delays, Pink Friday 2 officially hit DSPs in all its glory, complete with features from Drake, Lil, Wayne, and Future. The latter appears on “Nicki Hendrix,” which finds both artists in their feelings over relationships gone awry.

“I knew you was somethin’ serious, wanted to protect you / Never upset you, just wanted to sex you,” the Atlanta-based performer admits on the first verse. Afterward, Future continues on the chorus, crooning about not being as different from the woman in his life as she may think. In the latter half of “Nicki Hendrix,” the mother of one shows out, confidently reminding listeners that she’s the prize.

Trinidad Meets Atlanta on “Nicki Hendrix”

Charlamagne Tha God Calls On Joe Biden To Step Down Ahead Of 2024

However, critiquing the rollout of Pink Friday 2 isn’t the only thing Charlamagne has done recently. While hosting The Daily Show, Charlamagne Tha God said that Joe Biden could deliver “the perfect Christmas gift” by dropping out of the 2024 election. “The point is, we don’t need Biden to beat Donald Trump — just like we didn’t need RBG to stay on the court. Maybe if RBG had retired during the Obama years, we’d still have Roe v. Wade. Maybe. People said, ‘No, she needs to be there to protect Roe,’ and now look, both of them are gone. It’s true, they’re both gone,” he added. “See, the facts are: Biden’s not getting any younger, he’s not going to get any more popular, and he’s not getting a new running mate. So please Mr. President, give America the ultimate Christmas gift and step aside,” Charlamagne said.

Concerns about Biden’s age, as well as his plummeting popularity with younger voters, have Democrats worried about Biden continuing to run as the incumbent. Biden’s support of Israel, as well as general economic stagnation in the country, has seen young voters turn towards independent candidates. While it doesn’t endanger a major vote split, it could be enough of a vote siphon to cost Biden key states.

Most of the tracklist and features had been kept under wraps until the album’s official midnight release, giving a true surprise for listeners. One of the songs, “Pink Birthday,” is catching the attention of listeners, for the fact that Travis Scott appears to be on it.

Much like Minaj’s opening track “Are You Gone Already” where she samples a song by Billie Eilish, she does the same thing with Travis Scott on “Pink Birthday.” She used the opening track, “Pornography,” from Scott’s album, Rodeo. He also approved the sample, giving it another layer to the song.

“Travis Scott cleared his vocals for it,” she posted. “That’s his voice on it. It sounds kinda like an instrument. I didn’t know until I had alrdy recorded & fell in love with it tho. I was like he not gon clear it.”

Last night, Nicki Minaj dropped her anticipated Pink Friday 2 album. Spanning 22 tracks, the record highlighted collaborations with Drake, J. Cole, and many more. However, that doesn’t seem to be all. Minaj has been teasing that there will be a deluxe version — and here’s what to know about it.

When Will Nicki Minaj’s Pink Friday 2 Deluxe Come Out?

Minaj revealed that starting either Monday or Tuesday of next week, she’ll be dropping one track per day. This would continue until next Friday, providing four songs in total to complete the project. While it’s still TBA if there will be any other songs that will count toward a Pink Friday 2 deluxe after this, at the very least, fans will get to hear even more new music.

She also dropped some hints about two of the potential added features on the bonus tracks for next week. “Two of the names on a very important song rhyme with Schmechia Schmole & Schmonica,” Minaj wrote. (It’s Keyshia Cole and Monica.)

Based on this teaser alone, fans are extremely excited to hear the new collab — and any other surprises Minaj will have in store.

Offset went on to post a clip from Scarface, which shows Al Pacino’s character saying, “Hey, f*ck you, man! Who put this thing together? Me. That’s who. Who do I trust? Why Is ‘We Want Cardi’ Trending On X (Twitter)?

Today (December 8) is Nicki Minaj’s day. It’s her birthday. It’s Pink Friday 2 release day. The Barbz are thriving in Gag City, and Cardi B’s fans are happily raining on their parade. Clearly, they didn’t get the memo from Beyoncé and Taylor Swift that powerful women don’t have to be pitted against each other.

On X (formerly known as Twitter), #WeWantCardi is trending. There are several potential reasons as to why that is trending. First, stanning is a full-time job. But also, Cardi B still hasn’t dropped her follow-up to 2018’s Invasion Of Privacy, and patience is running thin.

Why Is ‘We Want Cardi’ Trending On Twitter?

An initial cursory scroll through the #WeWantCardi trending topic would suggest that the Bardigang are relishing in the perception that Pink Friday 2 is “flopping” (their word, not mine). Some are claiming that Invasion Of Privacy is superior to Pink Friday 2 — and Cardi, the superior rapper — going out of their way to stream Invasion Of Privacy and (seemingly) prevent Pink Friday 2 from ascending the charts, or at least revive Invasion Of Privacy so Cardi is right next to Minaj on the charts.

According to the X fan account @CardiBCaviar, the goal was to “bring Invasion Of Privacy to No. 1 on iTunes,” and as of this writing, it had reentered the top 10 in the US (per Chart Data). See some of the posts below.
