NLE Choppa Gives Lil Wayne Flowers — Literally — While On The Set Of Their New Video

We often talk about how important it is to give stars and icons flowers while they can still smell them. Well, at least one young star took that advice literally. When NLE Choppa, who was greatly influenced by Lil Wayne growing up in Memphis, got the chance to work with his idol on a new song, he made sure to give Wayne a giant bouquet of roses. He also gave the notorious skate fanatic a brand-new deck.

“I feel like accolades never define the artist,” he said as he gave the gifts in a behind-the-scenes clip from the duo’s recent video shoot. “Personally, I feel like you supposed to have way more accolades coming your way. You should be to a point in time to where you just receiving accolades. I think it was a few days ago, you won an award. So, I just wanted to present my own accolade, physically giving you flowers and a note to let you know how much you inspired me and impacted my life. I have a skateboard too that I signed. I know you like to skateboard.”

Wayne received the gifts graciously, saying, “This is my life right here. For real, for real. Whatever cameras, if y’all watching – be like this guy, man. Be like this guy. He’s a good guy, man. For real. I do this a lot. I’m on video sets a lot – new artists, old artists. This doesn’t happen. This doesn’t happen. He’s a great guy.”

The honor that Wayne received a few days ago was at the Recording Academy Honors Presented by the Black Music Collective. Wayne was one of two artists (along with Missy Elliott) given the Dr. Dre Global Impact Award. His protege Drake gave a lighthearted but loving speech, saying, “I love you so much. I know I probably get annoying with saying how much you mean to me and my family, but I think I speak on behalf of everybody when I say that our careers, our cadences, our melodies, maybe our face tats or our outfits or our decisions in general would not have been the same without your natural gift to just be yourself.”

NLE Choppa Literally Gives Lil Wayne His Flowers

Billboard recently placed Lil Wayne at #7 in their list of top 50 rappers of all time. However, most would say that the Louisiana rapper deserved to be bumped in the top 5. Wayne certainly stands among the all-time greats in hip-hop. He’s proven exactly why he’s deserving this title time and time again. During Grammy weekend, the Black Music Collective honored the New Orleans rapper with the Global Impact Award for his lifetime achievements, which Drake presented to him via a hilarious pre-recorded message ahead of the award show

Weezy basically birthed a whole generation of rappers who came after him. We wouldn’t have artists like Nicki Minaj and Drake if it weren’t for the Young Money era. Meanwhile, Young Thug and Kendrick Lamar undoubtedly took a page or two from Wayne during their career. Ultimately, Wayne deserves all of the flowers for everything he’s accomplished in his career and the barriers he broke down in hip-hop. On top of that, Wayne hasn’t shied away from embracing the new generation of rappers, like NLE Choppa, who he collaborated with recently.

NLE Choppa Gifts Lil Wayne A Bouquet Of Flowers In Valentine’s Day Photo Dump

NLE Choppa and Lil Wayne have new music coming out this week. The two collaborated on “Ain’t Gonna Answer,” which is due out this Friday. Ahead of its release, NLE Choppa shared a behind-the-scenes look of the video shoot, particularly a candid moment where he gave Lil Wayne his flowers and a thank you note for the inspiration. “I simply wanted to physically gift you these flowers to symbolize my appreciation for you as an artist, an icon, and more importantly, an inspiration,” he wrote in the message.

Lil Wayne appeared caught off guard by the gesture as he genuinely thanked NLE Choppa for giving him flowers. “Be like this guy,” Wayne told the camera after NLE Choppa handed him the bouquet and a skateboard. “He’s a good guy, man, for real. I do this a lot. This doesn’t happen, he’s a great guy.” Choppa added in the letter that he hoped the gesture would help develop a “big bro, lil bro” relationship. It appears that he won Lil Wayne over with the flowers. Check out the video above and sound off with your thoughts in the comments.

NLE Choppa’s ‘UPROXX Sessions’ Performance Of ’23’ Is A Step Back Into His Musical Start

NLE Choppa may have begun fortifying his physical health thanks to herbology and spiritual well-being seen in his recent peaceful protest. Still, the Memphis native remains true to his musical roots. The last few years have been good to the musician, as he’s managed to be featured on 50 Cent’s television show Raising Kanan theme song, and he’s hinted at potentially working with rap’s newest it girl, Ice Spice.

For now, the rapper is focused on ironing out his plans for 2023, starting with a new project titled Cottonwood 2. The lead single from the project, “23,” produced by Tay Keith, is a taste of what’s to come.

On Instagram, Choppa shared on the project he is looking to dive further into the theme of rebirth, writing, “Death to what no longer serves you,” he said. “Death to old cycles. Death to old/bad habits. Death to friendships/relationships. Death to the simplest thing like my hair. Death to everything holding back the new.”

NLE Choppa’s BBL Herb Powder Explained: Video

Apart from his music career, 20-year-old NLE Choppa has also made a name for himself thanks to his keen interest in herbal supplements. At the start of 2022, he went viral after claiming that a powder he’s produced will work as a “natural BBL. It’s also said to increase the breast size of those who take it.

Many were speculative about the rapper’s claims. However, in a recent interview with RapTV, he broke down the science behind his magic medicine, among other things.

“It was a BBL powder that I made. It’s so simple,” Choppa explains just after five minutes into the conversation. “It’s like a blend of herbs that produce estrogen. That’s all the breast and the butt is.”

Things were taking off for the recording artist at first, but lately, he seems to have run into some trouble. “What happened was, I kinda got out of rhythm with selling herbs because I wanted to make sure that if I have a business – a serious business like that – that the people running it are just as serious as me about it,” he told the outlet.

“I used to get certain emails. Like, a person would get some sea moss and the sea moss busted open,” he additionally explained. “That falls back on me. Even though I’m not the person making it and putting it together. They gon’ come at NLE. With something that serious, and knowing I can’t be there and I can’t be the one making it or doing this the whole time because I have to do other shit, I said it will do best by just stopping for a certain period of time and waiting until I can form a team around it.

Elsewhere in the RapTV interview, Choppa gets candid about topics such as his 2023 goals, being celibate, meditation, and clean eating.

His BBL powder is certainly generating interest online. Still, that’s not all NLE Choppa fans have been loving from the rapper as of late. This New Music Friday, he shared a single that’s one of his favourite things ever recorded.

NLE Choppa Shares “Champions” Single, Says It’s One Of His “Favourite Songs [He’s] Recorded”

So far in 2023, NLE Choppa has been a force to be reckoned with. The Memphis native previously began the year with an appearance on “Switches” alongside Clay “Krucial” Perry III. Afterward, he came through with “23,” and more recently, “Champions.”

According to a press release, this new arrival is one of the 20-year-old’s personal favourite songs that he’s recorded. “I just feel like it just shows empowerment, determination and motivation,” he explained. “I feel like this song can speak volumes to us [with motivation], but really resonate with those who don’t know what life has for them.”

“My view from the top of the moon / I can see the whole world sittin’ in my hand, amazin’ view,” Choppa chiefly rhymes over victorious horns and militaristic percussion on his first verse. “We finna break the rules / And we gon’ make ’em too.”

As a press release notes, “Champions” is now appearing on ESPN’s promos and various programming.

The new single will also appear on Choppa’s upcoming Cottonwood 2 project, said to be dropping sometime this spring. The predecessor, Cottonwood, first landed back in 2019 and came complete with 10 songs as well as a Blueface feature. It’s since gone on to earn a gold certification.

In a recent Instagram post, the southern star provided more context in his definition of a champion. “Anyone who has faced adversity and still haven’t let it define who they are on the inside,” he wrote.

“You’d think the homeless would be full of things that isn’t divine but instead every homeless person I meet are more grateful than people with everything they dreamed of. That tells me that a champion is NOTHING exoteric, it’s actually ESOTERIC.”

NLE Choppa Lead Peaceful Protest In Honor Of Tyre Nichols

The recent death of Tyre Nichols has sparked outrage across the country. The 29-year-old died after succumbing to his injuries from being severely beaten by five Memphis police officers at a traffic stop. Several artists, including Moneybagg Yo, GloRilla, and more, have already commented on Nichols’ unjust death. The latest to show support is another Memphis native, NLE Choppa.

Choppa, whose real name is Bryson Lashun Potts, hopped on Twitter to share his thought on the devastating situation.

“Today, I felt it on my heart to turn a negative situation into a positive,” the rapper said in a video he shared. “I actually went to sleep dwelling on how I could wake up today and do that.”

The rapper encouraged his fans to join him for a peaceful march through the streets of Memphis, requesting that they bring their own kind of wheels, whether it be skateboards, roller skates, or wheelies.

“So, I came up with a hashtag, #SkateForTyre,” he said regarding Nichols, who was known as an avid skateboarder. “I came up with a location where I want everyone in Memphis that wants to be a part to meet me at for a peaceful march, a peaceful walk, and a peaceful skate through the streets.”

He continued: “I just want to skate for Tyre and respect to him and know that’s how he would’ve wanted everybody to act.”

Later, the rapper posted another video on his Twitter account, but this time it was alongside a group of protestors, walking and skating in honor of Nichols.

“No justice, no peace, we’re gonna skate for Tyree,” protesters said in the clip.

Following Nichols’ untimely death, the five officers involved have since been fired from the Memphis Police Department and are facing impending charges.
