Coachella Is Giving Free NFTs To All Pass-holders And They’re Actually Pretty Cool

The first weekend of Coachella is less than two weeks away and the festival might be scrambling to replace a headliner. This comes after yesterday’s report that Kanye West has pulled out of his headlining performance for the West Coast’s marquee two-weekend festival. But as they say in the business, the show must go on, and we can safely assume that Coachella will have this figured out in due time. If you’re holding a pass to the desert festival, there’s literally hundreds of other acts and experiences to look forward to. Furthermore, Coachella just launched a new free NFT for all pass-holders in partnership with the FTX platform and it’s actually a pretty cool new addition to the overall experience.

Dubbed the 2022 “In Bloom NFT,” the NFT design is a technicolor digital seed designed by Jonathan Zawada, that blooms Friday morning of each of the two festival weekends into one of seven desert flowers. It’s just a beautiful design to begin with, but the bloomed NFT flowers can be redeemed for on-site perks like dedicated entry-line access, merch, and food & beverage vouchers. If you’ve arrived late enough into the afternoon in the past, then you know how tedious the general admission entry line can be.

Also, a random batch for the In Bloom NFT blooms into one of six “rare” flowers that will yield premium upgrades at the fest. Things like VIP passes, passes to Coachella 2023, tickets to other Goldenvoice concerts, and even a ride on the giant ferris wheel. Say what you will about the proliferation of NFT culture on the internet, but this shows their practical functionality and undoubtedly a cool way to enhance the Coachella attendee experience.

Full info on the 2022 In Bloom NFT can be found here and Coachella pass-holders can already begin to claim their free NFT using their wristband code on the FTX app.

NBA Hall of Famer Chris Webber Teams with Coinllectibles to Enter Sports and Entertainment NFT World

chris webber

Coinllectibles, a subsidiary of Cosmos Group Holdings, Inc. (OTC: COSG), has announced a partnership with NBA Hall of Famer and entrepreneur Chris Webber to disrupt the NFT market and strategically deliver innovative sports and entertainment offerings using its proprietary Digital Ownership Token (DOT) technology and the metaverse.

Webber will supervise the implementation of Coinllectibles Sports’ objective to better connect fans, players, and entertainers through technology as president. Webber and Collectibles will debut the Fab Five member’s exclusive University of Michigan DOT collection on March 28, with plans to release future drops in the sports and entertainment categories.

Webber and Coinllectibles hope to use this new business to help athletes from all walks of life — from NIL deals at the high school and collegiate level to retired players — maximize their prospects in the NFT space. They will also provide internships and job opportunities to smart and ambitious minds from neglected communities.

“I’m honored to team up with Coinllectibles and proud to be trusted to lead one of the first public NFT companies in the marketplace,” Webber said. “In this digital age, we have a tremendous opportunity to engage with fan bases, professional athletes, and entertainers alike to launch groundbreaking product offerings that eclipse some of the limitations found in NFTs – both in the metaverse and in real life – and unlocking exciting VIP experiences. We want our DOTs to be viewed as the gold standard and provide meaningful, purpose-driven value. We will launch with my University of Michigan DOT collection on March 28 and will follow with other exclusive drops from other athletes and entertainers on our roster.”

Members of the community can join up for free access to Coinllectibles’ DOT experiences or pay a monthly fee to access the exclusive VIP experiences and collections. To access the drop, go to https://sports.coinllectibles.art for more information on the different membership tiers.

“Few things unite people across the world like sport and music so we are extremely excited to be working with Chris,” Coinllectibles CEO Toby O’Connor said. “Beyond his extraordinary sporting accomplishments in basketball in College and the NBA, Chris has an interest to apply his perspective from his playing career to benefit people. He brings clear passion and vision to how our DOT technology and the developing metaverse can be used to enhance many areas of sport including an athlete’s career development, fan enjoyment, and engagement with social and educational areas. DOTs offer a groundbreaking enhancement to NFTs in securing ownership rights for buyers.”

The announcement is Webber’s most recent foray into entrepreneurship. In 2021, the Hall of Famer and businesswoman Lavetta Willis launched Players Only Holdings, a strategic corporation centered on real estate development brands.

Coinllectibles and Webber founded the sports segment to extend the NFT marketplace’s expansion and bridge the gap between technology and sports memorabilia. The new division plans to use technology to improve community interaction around athletes, fan bases, events across various sports, and creative content development and management. CoinllectiblesTM and Webber collaborate to incorporate NFT and blockchain technology into their cutting-edge DOT technology to promote global engagement, knowledge, access, and enjoyment initiatives.

Jay-Z And Damon Dash May Settle In Their ‘Reasonable Doubt’ NFT Lawsuit

Last summer, Roc-A-Fella Records filed a lawsuit against Damon Dash after the label’s cofounder announced plans to auction a portion of Jay-Z’s debut album, Reasonable Doubt as an NFT. The label argued that the album is owned by the company, and not by its individual partners.

The lawsuit is ongoing, however, Jay and Dash are reportedly in talks to reach a settlement deal.

Jay-Z’s attorney Alex Spiro said in a filing earlier this week Dash and Jay were “in the process of meeting and conferring to determine whether they can reach a settlement agreement that would resolve this case.”

If Jay and Dash are unable to settle the case, Spiro and Jay plan to file a motion seeking full victory in the case.

Dash currently owns one-third of Roc-A-Fella, however, Spiro and Jay argue that Dash’s stake in the label doesn’t give him the right to sell any portion of the esteemed album.

“The sale of this irreplaceable asset must be stopped before it is too late, and Dash must be held accountable for his theft,” read the lawsuit filed against Dash last June. “The bottom line is simple: Dash can’t sell what he doesn’t own.” A judge immediately blocked the album’s sale as an NFT.

Dash and Jay must reach a settlement deal by April 1, according to the letter.

Snoop Dogg Will Appear As ‘Supercuzz’ In A New NFT Comic Book Series

In the latest NFT news from Snoop Dogg, the rapping multihyphenate will appear on a series of NFT comic book covers. The Death Row records owner will grace five different covers of “Supercuzz,” a comic book series by crypto marketplace MakersPlace.

“Supercuzz” will see Snoop play the titular character—a superhero saving the day in the fictional “Angel City.”

“Snoop Dogg and BossLogic are two iconic forces in their respective crafts and are both pioneers in the NFT space,” said MakersPlace CEO Craig Palmer in a statement. “We’re honored to host the release of ‘Supercuzz’ collection on MakersPlace and give art enthusiasts accessibility in purchasing NFT’s from their favorite creators.”

Over the past year, Snoop has become a force in the realm of NFTs. Last year, he revealed himself to be the owner of @CozomoMedici, a popular NFT Twitter account. In February, he purchased Death Row Records, the former of the “Gin And Juice” rapper, Dr. Dre, and Tupac, and announced plans to turn it into an “NFT Label.

Weeks after the announcement, fans noticed that some of the label’s iconic albums, including Snoop’s Doggystyle, and Dr. Dre’s The Chronic went missing from streaming services.

In addition to his recent NFT projects, Snoop also joined FaZe Clan as a member of the esports brand’s board of directors and talent. With this new partnership, he plans to launch a community outreach program.

Snoop Dogg Removes Most Of Death Row’s Catalogue From DSPs

Last month, things began to take a futuristic turn for Death ROw Records, with former label signee Snoop Dogg taking ownership of the label and soon after said that the “world’s most dangerous recordlabel” would be made into an NFT. To further solidify that, the Dogg has now removed all of Death Row’s previous recordings from all streaming platforms.

Even though the report stems from a Wikipedia page, upon close examination of Death Row recordings on all DSPs including those from Snoop Dogg and Tha Dogg Pound, all of access to these songs and albums on public streaming platforms have been removed. Death Row labeled classic albums like Doggystyle, Dogg Food, the Above The Rim soundtrack, Dr. Dre’s The Chronic and more are no longer available.

Snoop discussed the idea of bringing the Death Row label into the metaverse in a Clubhouse conversation, saying, “Death Row will be an NFT label,” he said.“We will be putting out artists through the metaverse. Just like we broke the industry when we was the first independent to be major, I want to be the first major in the metaverse.”

Even though Snoop hasn’t publicly addressed the disappearance of the Death Row projects, but fans have certainly expressed their displeasure in the absence of some of Hip Hop’s most revered classics.

One Clubhouse participant said, “So, thanks to Snoop Dogg promoting NFT shit and making Death Row Records an NFT record label, all the releases except 2Pac’s, will be removed from Spotify and so on. This is actually bullshit, that means no more Dre’s Chronic on Spotify. NFTs need to die, fucking stupid movement.”

Biggie’s Estate Is Launching A Notorious B.I.G. NFT Collection Backed By Quincy Jones

Bob Dylan wasn’t kidding: the times, indeed, they are a-changin’. Today, on the 25th anniversary of the death the Notorious B.I.G., The Estate Of Christopher Wallace has announced that they will be launching a series of collectible NFTs. The series is being released in partnership with the NFT platform OneOf, which is backed by Quincy Jones. You can go ahead and file this as the most 2022 way to remember Biggie on the 25th year after his death.

“Using NFT technology, Biggie’s legacy and his outsized impact on music and culture will be forever cemented on blockchain, to be honored and shared with fans around the world and for generations to come,” OneOf COO Josh James said.

This is either a welcome statement or an appalling one, based on where you stand on the recent proliferation of NFTs. Details of what specifically these NFTs will look like weren’t immediately available, but there doesn’t seem to be a lack of ways to remember Biggie’s legacy to begin with. A Ready To Die 25th anniversary box set was recently announced, and even the apartment where he recorded the album went up for sale last year. Not to mention well… the music itself, which will undoubtedly live on forever.

Biggie’s mom, Voletta Wallace, voiced her excitement for the drop. In a statement, she said, “We are excited about our partnership with OneOf and their expertise to memorialize my son Christopher with this first official NFT drop to give his fans an opportunity to participate in and honor their love of him and his music.” For what it’s worth 2Pac’s “Immortal Collection” of NFT Jewelry was released last year. So maybe the two rappers can continue their beef on the blockchain as well?
