Killer Mike Sticks Up For Lil Yachty In Controversial ATL Fashion Debate

Lil Yachty really set the internet on fire. The rapper made several public appearances during the last few days of July, each time making a statement that incited debate. He got pushback for defending Drake in the Kendrick Lamar battle. He was chastised for leaking a song he couldn’t get a sample cleared for. The most notable Yachty, controversy, though, stemmed from his comments about fashion. He claimed that Atlanta sets the fashion trends in hip-hop, which led to lots of criticism from rappers living in the rest of the country. One of the few rappers who seemingly agreed with Lil Boat was Killer Mike.

Killer Mike hopped on Twitter on August 1 to set the record straight. He referred to the Yachty debate as “lame,” but did provide examples of Atlanta setting trends. He pointed to his Dungeon family mentor, Big Boi, in particular. “I have Zero Interest in this lame ass debate,” he wrote. “BUT Big Boi Started the Throw Back Jersey Trend with that cold a*s Houston Astros Jersey.” He then noted that Ye, despite his Chitown roots, gave proper credit to the Outkast rapper. Ye’s impact on hip-hop fashion goes without saying, but Killer Mike said it regardless. “Kanye (Atlanta Born) set the record straight on that, God Bless Him,” he wrote. “Honorable Mention the ‘Flip Flop’s and Sox’ look was Some sh*t from the Dungeon Family.”

Killer Mike Claims ATL Has Influenced All Pop Culture

Mike included a photo of Big Boi rocking the aforementioned Astros jersey as proof. A Twitter user went the opposite direction and claimed that Phife Dog actually started the throwback jersey trend. Killer Mike respectfully disagreed. “[Phife] was a sports fan and inspired us all,” he wrote back. “With that said, the Throw back Era is Something Big Boi who is also like us a Tribe Fan Started in 98 with that Black Ice Vid Houston Jersey. Long Live Tribe and Kast.” The rapper continued to go back and forth with fans about the specificity of throwbacks, and the relevance of sports merchandise within the genre.

Killer Mike and Lil Yachty are about as far apart as artists can be. That said, the former has also repped Atlanta in his music and art. During a 2023 appearance on the Hip-Hop Made podcast, Mike claimed that the ATL has influenced every element of popular culture for decades. “When they say Atlanta influences everything it’s true,” he declared. “If you’re talking about Black culture in America, you talking about ATL, Georgia, and I’m not just talking about the last 25 years… I don’t think you can talk any Black culture — Rock n’ Roll, Blues, and Gospel — without talking about Atlanta.” Yachty may have ditched the internet due to the East Coast backlash, but he’d be pleased to know Killer Mike is in his corner.

LL Cool J Excludes JAY-Z And DMX From His Def Jam Mount Rushmore

LL Cool J is a legend. He doesn’t have to back up his claims on hip-hop culture. That being said, LL is dishing out some hot takes during his recent press tour. The rapper is promoting the release of his new album, and discussing where he stands within the culture. He recently went on the Club Shay Shay pod, and declared that he should be on the Mount Rushmore of Def Jam artists. Shannon Sharpe noted some of the other names who have been on the label, but LL Cool J stood firm and prioritized himself over the likes of JAY-Z and DMX.

Shannon Sharpe asked which four artists defined Def Jam to LL Cool J, and the latter answered quickly. “It’s LL, it’s Public Enemy, it’s the Beastie Boys and it would have to be Slick Rick,” he asserted. It’s tough to argue with any of his picks. All four acts were defining hip-hop names in the 1980s, and helped turn it into what it is today. LL Cool J is one of the few artists who could get away with putting himself on the list because, frankly, he deserves it. He was the first solo superstar to crossover. He was also the first artist on Def Jam, period. Still, Sharpe stirred the pot.

LL Cool J Has Bumped Heads With JAY-Z In The Past

The host listed off the other rappers who were on Def Jam after LL. “We got JAY-Z, we got Kanye, we got Rihanna, we got DMX, we got Luda, we got Nas,” he read aloud. “Was Hov not on Def Jam?” LL Cool J gave Sharpe a puzzled look before noting that JAY-Z arrived a decade after he did. “Yeah, a thousand years later,” he quipped. This isn’t the first time LL has discussed his fraught relationship with JAY-Z in recent weeks. He also set the record straight on a rumor that JAY-Z battle rapped him in a parking lot in 1996. LL admitted the story was true. That said, he rapped JAY’s partner beforehand, and claimed he spent all of his rhymes.

LL Cool J and JAY-Z have never collaborated, and most of their comments about one another have contained slight jabs. In the same Out of Context interview where LL addressed the rap battle, he shut down the rumor that he dissed JAY-Z on the song “Loungin.” The Queens legend asserted that he would have no reason to diss Hov back in 1996. Why? Because he wasn’t big enough to warrant the attention. It’s blunt but it’s also true. “What could I possibly want from him in 1996,” LL noted. “What do I want with him?”

Lil Yachty Claims He’s Leaving The Internet Amid Backlash For Drake & NYC Fashion Comments

It’s been a tough week for Lil Yachty, and it looks like the Georgia-born artist has had enough. Yesterday, for example, he got ripped apart for a few comments he made about New York City’s fashion sense on his podcast. “As far as style goes, I don’t think it’s sh*t going on when it comes to New York fashion,” he said. “Y’all like Purple Label, Amiri…and y’all wear a lot of y’all homeboy’s brands. Y’all wear all y’all’s homie’s sh*t. I know, we can tell.”

Yachty then appeared on the Flagrant podcast, where he discussed Drake’s viral lyrical battle with Kendrick Lamar, and admitted that he regrets weighing in. “I talked to him and that sh*t didn’t bother him. As it shouldn’t, he’s the f*cking guy. If I had $700 million you couldn’t talk to me either,” he added of Drizzy. “I think people just hate on Drake because he’s the guy… It’s also because he f*cked everyone’s b*tch.

Lil Yachty Has Had Enough

Of course, these remarks also earned him a great deal of backlash too. Now, he’s taken to Instagram Live to announce that he’s done with the internet for the time being. According to him, he still has obligations related to his podcast, but won’t be posting otherwise. “I’m gone off this internet sh*t… Contracted to do this podcast sh*t unfortunately but I ain’t posting no more sh*t,” he said. “I’m deleting the apps off my phone, swear to God.”

According to him, he might be done for the entire remainder of the year, though it’s to be seen whether or not he’ll stick to this. What do you think of Lil Yachty receiving backlash online for his comments about Drake and NYC fashion? Is it warranted, or are social media users just overreacting? What about him announcing that he’s leaving the internet? Share your thoughts in the comments section down below and keep an eye on HNHH for more updates.

Megan Thee Stallion Teases Cinematic Music Video For “MEGAN” Cut “Mamushi”

Megan Thee Stallion’s rollout for her new album MEGAN isn’t over yet, and with a wild tour behind her, she’s got more goods to focus on now. Moreover, she recently teased a new music video for the Yuki Chiba-assisted album cut “Mamushi,” which recently became the project’s latest single. The track has been one of the record’s biggest so far, so it’s no surprise that it’s getting a little extra love through a visual treatment. We don’t know when this new music video should be coming out or what it should include, but based on the black and white imagery, this bilingual song should be paying homage to Japanese film in one way or another.

Elsewhere, folks are ignoring Megan Thee Stallion’s killer year in the face of her Kamala Harris endorsement, including some callouts from Lil Pump. “Nicki Manaj > Megan stallion,” he shared online. “Who tf performs at a kamal Harris rally. She’s an embarrassment to the culture. This is an embarrassment to our country. Kamal Harris should’ve booked killer mike for the rally instead of Megan estallian. Kamala Harris needs Megan the stallion shaking a** to have people show up to her rally. Donald Trump needs himself to have people show up to his rally. One person is powered by the people, the other is powered by the establishment. Trump 2024 [U.S. flag emoji].”

Megan Thee Stallion Teases “Mamushi” MV

Regardless of petty politics and put-downs, Megan Thee Stallion is also facing a lot of scrutiny for reignited conspiracy theories about the Tory Lanez shooting, which her former best friend Kelsey Nicole had to address once again on Twitter. “It’s easy to get lost in the media, but let’s remember MY NAME was cleared by both parties involved. Stay tuned,” she shared online.

Meanwhile, this isn’t the first time that Megan Thee Stallion teased the “Mamushi” video, so you should catch up on that if you’re excited for the visuals. We wonder whether other MEGAN cuts will also get the MV treatment or if they will remain underrated fan picks from the discog. Either way, we’ll see what else 2024 holds for the Houston femcee after an already staggering seven months.

Lil Uzi Vert & Kai Cenat Team Up For New Marc Jacobs Campaign

In June of this year, Lil Uzi Vert made headlines for their participation in a Marc Jacobs campaign. The performer posed with the brand’s 40th-anniversary bag in collaboration with Stephen Sprouse. Unfortunately, this resulted in a great deal of clowning online. Uzi’s never been one to hide their true colors after a bit of criticism, however.

In fact, new photos circulating online show them posing for even more photos for the brand, joined by a special guest. Kai Cenat is featured in the photos, rocking a fuzzy black jacket, leather pants, and a pair of white shades. As for Uzi, they sported a sleeveless rhinestone-studded dress, a small black handbag, and dark sunglasses.

Lil Uzi Vert & Kai Cenat Strike A Pose For Marc Jacobs

As expected, the photo has elicited mixed reactions from social media users. Most are here for the unexpected collaboration, however, and can’t wait to see more. The news arrives a few weeks after Cenat teased a possible stream with Lil Uzi Vert, though it’s unclear when exactly that could happen. With that being said, they look to have been spending more time together due to the campaign, so it might be closer than ever. “Uzi on stream is going to be f***ing insane,” Cenat told fans in June.

Cenat isn’t the only person Uzi’s commitment to fashion has rubbed off on, however. During a recent interview, their partner JT also opened up about how they influenced her style. “I remember him putting me in a whole outfit and I was going the f*ck off on him like, ‘Boy, I look like Batman and all type of sh*t,’” she explained. “He’s like, ‘This is how you’re gonna be dressed every day.’ And, I’m like, ‘Boy, there’s a time and a place.’” What do you think of Lil Uzi Vert and Kai Cenat teaming up for a new Marc Jacobs campaign? How are they looking in this latest photo? Share your thoughts in the comments section down below, and keep an eye on HNHH for more updates.

Cardi B’s Tia Kemp-Inspired Offset Diss Track Exposed As AI Fabrication

Cardi B just dropped some major bombshells online, as news broke that she’s expecting a third child and that she filed for divorce from Offset. However, all this new info has also understandably resulted in a whole lot of misinformation, including a supposed diss track from her against the former Migo titled “Tia Kemp.” This is in reference to Rick Ross’ ex, who has a pretty nasty relationship with him online right now that continues to become even more contentious. Still, the Bardi Gang quickly figured out that this viral track is just a cheap A.I. attempt to fabricate a track centered around the divorce.

Furthermore, a lot of fans expressed surprise at the news of the divorce, but those select few probably weren’t very up to date with Cardi B and Offset. It’s been no secret that the two faced some bumps in the road as of late, especially in the public eye when it comes to cheating allegations against the Georgia rapper. But that being said, we don’t really know if these accusations were what caused the reported split, as other reports suggest that they reached an amicable agreement. Still, the Bronx femcee supposedly wants full custody of their two children, and other details about the split are unknown.

Cardi B’s Pregnancy Announcement

Elsewhere, here’s what Cardi B had to say about her pregnancy. “With every ending comes a new beginning!” she wrote in an Instagram post showing off her baby bump and presumably addressing the Offset divorce as well. “I am so grateful to have shared this season with you, you have brought me more love, more life and most of all renewed my power! Reminded me that I can have it all! You’ve reminded me that I never have to choose between life, love, and my passion!”

“I love you so much and can not wait for you to witness what you helped me accomplish, what you pushed me to do!” Cardi B concluded. “It’s so much easier taking life’s twists, turns and test laying down, but you, your brother and your sister have shown me why it’s worth it to push through!”

Simone Biles Wins Historic Sixth Olympic Gold Medal In Women’s All-Around Final

Today, Simone Biles made history, winning her sixth Olympic gold medal in the gymnastics all-around final. She’s now the first American gymnast to do so. She narrowly defeated Rebeca Andrade of Brazil, who finished silver, and her teammate Suni Lee who finished bronze. The 27-year-old is now the oldest Olympics all-around champion since Maria Gorokhovskaya, who secured the title in 1952. Biles is also the third woman in history to win multiple gold medals in the all-around.

Following a mistake on uneven bars, she put on impressive balance beam and floor performances. While this put her above both Lee and Andrade, Biles admits that the mishap shook her confidence. According to her, she was “praying to every single God out there trying to refocus and recenter myself because that’s not the bars that I had been training.”

Simone Biles Celebrates Her Win

“I’m not the best bar swinger like Suni or Kaylia, but I can still swing some bars,” Biles also added. “I don’t want to compete with Rebeca no more. I’m tired. Like, she’s way too close. I’ve never had an athlete that close.” She celebrated the exciting win by debuting a silver goat necklace, symbolizing her undeniable GOAT status.

“My GOAT necklace is just kind of an ode, because the people love it and some people hate it,” she explained. “So, it’s like the best of both worlds. I was like, ‘OK, if it goes well, we’ll wear the GOAT necklace.’ I know people will go crazy over it but at the end of the day it is crazy that I am in the conversation of ‘Greatest of all athletes’ because I just still think, ‘I’m Simone Biles from Spring, Texas who loves to flip.’” What do you think of Simone Biles making history with her latest win?
