Yes, Janet Jackson comes from a famous family. Her older brother Michael is the King of Pop, and the rest of her siblings comprised the legendary Jackson 5. Everybody knows this. Jackson’s family is so expansive, however, that there are more famous people than we all realized. The singer went on BBC Radio 2 on August 13, and proceeded to blow the mind of the host when she listed off some of her cousins. Apparently, Samuel L. Jackson and Stevie Wonder are part of the Jackson family tree.

Stevie Wonder was the starting off point for the revelatory conversation. The host asked Janet Jackson what her relationship was with the soul icon, and she confirmed that they were cousins. Jackson then proceeded to named Tracy Chapman as another relative. “He’s our cousin. Not a lot of people know that,” she explained. “He’s our cousin on my mother’s side. So is Tracy Chapman.” The host was not alone in his shock. Most of the internet reacted the same way, noting that they were completely in the dark when it came to Janet Jackson’s extended family. Samuel L. Jackson shares a surname with the songstress, but that was another revelation that seemingly came out of nowhere.

Janet Jackson Has A Ton Of Famous Cousins

Stevie Wonder and Michael Jackson worked closely during the 1970s and 80s. The two men were Motown prodigies, and collaborated multiple times on record. Their most notable collab, “Just Good Friends,” was one of the few non-singles on 1987’s Bad. Wonder has voiced support for the Jackson family in the wake of Michael’s death. Especially given the allegations that have leveled at the pop star courtesy of the documentary Leaving Neverland. “He’s died, he’s dead,” Wonder told TMZ. “Hopefully, we can continue the legacy of inspiration he has given a lot of kids and a lot of people.”

Interestingly, Samuel L. Jackson has discussed his family tree in the past. The actor did a Wired Auto Complete interview in 2017. One of the questions he was asked was whether he was related to Michael Jackson, and he stated, plainly, “nope.” There aren’t any other instances of the actor addressing the topic, but it’ll be interesting to hear what he has to say after Janet Jackson’s claims. Latto is expected to move 27K units with her new album, Sugar Honey Iced Tea, during its first week of availability. The figure puts her on pace for a top 20 debut on the Billboard 200 chart. Her previous album, 777, peaked at No. 15. The news has fans of Latto thrilled on social media.

“It’s only Tuesday w/ a prediction close to 27k! Definitely changing by the end of the week w/ ‘Chicken Grease’ being added. Ima make sure to keep streaming! Btches been playing with her too much,” one fan posted on X (formerly Twitter). Others were less impressed with the sales figure. “All that cockiness these new girls got and can’t even get 100k???? im in confusion,” another user wrote.

Latto dropped Sugar Honey Iced Tea on Friday, featuring collaborations with Young Nudy, Hunxho, Coco Jones, Megan Thee Stallion, Ciara, Mariah the Scientist, Teezo Touchdown, Cardi B, and Flo Milli. “I feel like what I’m doing has not been done before, so let’s start there. [Aesthetically], I’ve been pulling from Mariah Carey, Beyoncé, and Lil’ Kim,” she explained of the album, as caught by VIBE. “[Musically], I’ve been pulling from Kelis, but obviously with a Southern hip-hop twist. They have very feminine energy, but masculine in the sense of confidence. I feel like they was boss bi**hes. It just gave ‘I’m that girl.’ When you hear and see them in that prime era, it gave ‘I’m here to stay.’”

The Barbz are striking back once again after Latto’s recent claim that Lil’ Kim is indeed the G.O.A.T. of female rappers. In a recent chat with her sister on Complex, she was doing a Q&A following the release of her new studio LP, Sugar Honey Iced Tea. One of the question cards read, “Who is the GOAT female rapper?”, and before really answering the question she dubbed herself the best ever.

“Big Mama”, she replied. Her sister also agreed “not even being biased”. After moving past the self-confidence, Latto decided to give Lil’ Kim her flowers. She cites her timeless music and fashion as the main reasons. Additionally, perhaps in a subliminal manner, Latto thinks she’s the best due to her being such “a queen”.

Gunna’s “Today I Did Good” Music Video Is A Reminder To Just Live Your Life

One thing fans have learned about Gunna is that he loves to make a music video. Every album cycle of his comes with several visuals. a Gift & a Curse came with six videos for the album’s fifteen tracks. His latest album, One of Wun, is no different. After releasing videos for “whatsapp (wassam),” “back in the a” and “Prada Dem” with Offset, Gunna is back with the fourth video of this album cycle. “today i did good,” a more understated cut than the high-energy tracks Gunna is most known for, is the latest from the album to receive a video.

“today i did good” is Gunna celebrating himself. He applauds himself for getting on a diet (“I ain’t been eating no bullsh*t”). His fitness journey is one he’s documented himself for the last few years. He thanks God that he’s still rich, and talks about his bachelor life. The beat is mellower than one may expect from a Gunna track, and overall, it’s pleasant to listen to. The video, directed by Spike Jordan, is as impressive.

Gunna – “today i did good”: Watch:

The video itself is Gunna going through several days in his life. The video is also shot on a GoPro-like camera. It gives viewers his point of view in a way that would be similar to how Gunna himself goes through the day. He also time stamps every major point in the day. The video begins with him working out in Rome at 4:45 AM. From there, he eats breakfast, gets dressed, and leaves his hotel at 9:38 AM. He goes clothes shopping and then goes to a fashion show. Gunna leaves Rome at almost 7PM, and heads to South Africa to shoot the video for Tyla’s “Jump,” a track he features on. The scenes in South Africa follow a similar format. After his day in South Africa, he briefly heads to Los Angeles. He then goes to Ohio State University’s Schottenstein Center, the location of the first show of his Bittersweet Tour.

The video’s ending scene is from a photoshoot for P, Gunna’s clothing brand. Following the shoot, they return a room to in a scene that suggests a deluxe version of One of Wun is on the way. There are two pieces of art. One is the album’s standard art. Instead of the standard’s blue and white flowers, the other piece of art shows his head covered with orange and yellow flowers. The video’s last message is essentially telling viewers to make the most of their day. Gunna also wants his fans to not listen to what other people think of them. It’s a nice message to end a very well-crafted music video for one of the more underrated tracks on One of Wun. Watch the video above.

Boosie Badazz Theorizes Cassie Wants More Money Out Of Diddy

Boosie Badazz says the legal situation that Diddy is dealing with is a “mess” and theorized that Cassie wants more money than she got from settling her lawsuit against the industry veteran last year. He discussed Cassie’s allegations of misconduct against Diddy during an interview with VladTV.

“It’s just a mess right now,” Boosie said of the situation. “It’s just a mess everywhere right now. Cassie and that side don’t sound too happy. I know she ain’t got no $30 million.” From there, he implied she’d be living a quieter lifestyle if that was the case. Fans joined in with unfounded theories in the comments section of Vlad’s interview on YouTube. “She won’t be able to enjoy that money,” one top response reads. “She might ‘mysteriously’ pass away too. She’s securing her child. And there’s nothing comedic about this case. It’s ridiculous and sad.” Another wrote: “She probably sign paper work can’t talk about it.”

It’s far from the first time Boosie has spoken on Cassie’s allegations against Diddy. He previously reacted to the Bad Boy mogul’s apology video that released in the wake of CNN publishing footage of him hitting Cassie at a hotel in 2016. At the time, he theorized that Diddy would sample his comments for a future comeback song. He also described him as a “sick” individual for his actions in the video. Diddy has consistently denied all of the accusations he’s faced over the last year.
