DJ Vlad Squashes Marlon Wayans Beef During DJ Akademiks Interview

DJ Vlad and Marlon Wayans do not like each other. They may seem like they exist in two different worlds, but they can’t seem to stop arguing. At least, until now. Hell froze over for DJ Vlad on August 26. The hip hop personality decided to step back and reassess his comments about Marlon Wayans. He decided to apologize to the comedian during a recent interview with DJ Akademiks. He went as far as to say that he respected Wayans as an entertainer, and explained how their beef came to be in the first place.

First, context. During an interview with Aries Spears, DJ Vlad claimed that Marlon Wayans had been difficult to work with. He alleged that Wayans asked for $40K to appear on the Vlad TV channel, as well as 30% of future revenue from his episode. DJ Vlad considered both requests to be absurd. DJ Vlad and Wayans proceeded to exchange insults via social media when the latter caught wind of the trash talk. “You unprofessional my guy,” the comedian tweeted. “If you don’t like the number keep it moving. You look BAD. You should fall back. Mad at a black man stating his number? And now you go public and use your platform to try to drag me. I never in my life dealt with this silly negotiating tactic.”

DJ Vlad Admits He Acted Unprofessionally

Vlad admitted he acted unprofessionally during his new interview. “Honestly, at the end of the day, it was just a business negotiation,” he stated. “I could’ve kept it to myself. I overdid it.” Vlad then said that he would be open to working something out with Wayans in the future. “I do actually respect [him],” the DJ added. “That was the reason I approached [him] in the first place.” DJ Vlad also provided some of the reasoning behind his initial frustration. He felt as though Marlon Wayans failed to realize how big Vlad TV is, and didn’t take the negotiations seriously as a result.

DJ Vlad cited other hip hop personalities like Big Boy and Charlamagne Tha God as people that Wayans seemingly had more respect for at the time. That said, he has moved on from his initial resentments, and is eager to bury the hatchet. “My bad Marlon, I apologize,” DJ Vlad concluded. “It’s all good. I think most people just want to respect each other and I think it could have been handled a little differently.” Maybe we will get to see Wayans on Vlad TV one of these days.

Troy Ave Gifted New Lamborghini After Being Released From Prison: Watch

Troy Ave is home. The rapper was released from Riker’s Island on August 26. And his team made sure there was plenty to celebrate. The rapper was handed $2 million and a brand new Lamborghini. The whole exchange was recorded and posted on social media. Troy Ave was thrilled. His face may be covered in the videos, but his body language was loud and clear. The first post sees Troy Ave holding a clear bag filled with bills.

The second post, however, sees the rapper posing for a photo with his bag and his new car. One of the photos that were taken made its way to Troy Ave’s Instagram. He posted the celebratory image with the caption: “Ya boi home!”. The rapper has good reason to be grateful. He was originally given a year long sentence. Troy Ave’s attorney, John B. Stella, however, was able to appeal the sentence. Stella argued that Ave should have months taken off the sentence due to the fact that he served time while awaiting trial. “Under the law he must serve 8 months to satisfy that sentence,” the attorney wrote. “Since he previously spent almost 2 months in jail before he made bail, the remaining balance of time he must serve is a little over 6 months.”

Ave was sentenced to prison due to the role he played in a 2016 shooting. The 2016 incident took place at Irving Plaza in New York City, and claimed the life of Ave’s bodyguard, Ronald ‘Banga’ McPhatter. The other man involved in the shooting, podcaster Taxstone, was also locked up. He was not as fortunate however. Taxstone was found guilty of manslaughter. He was also charged with possession of a firearm as a felon. He was subsequently sentenced to 35 years. Troy Ave talked about the incident on Instagram prior to his sentencing.

“All them people that was in the car with me, I end up taking the guns,” the rapper explained. “Somebody shot at me. Instead of laying down and dying, I’d have been a hero. A martyr, I took the gun and bust back.” Troy Ave doesn’t regret reacting the way he did. “Here go the consequences,” he noted. “But we don’t cry over spilt milk. We take the lemons and make lemonade. God is great, and the paper’s straight. Y’all keeps it cool. Y’all keep running it up.”

Meek Mill Freestyles Over Kendrick Lamar’s “Euphoria” Diss: Watch

Meek Mill is always up to something. The Philadelphia rapper can always be counted on to say or do something that makes fans scratch their heads. Meek Mill decided he want to showcase his freestyle skills on August 26 by spitting a verse over “Family Matters.” Then, a few hours later, Meek Mill came back with another freestyle. Instead of being over a Drake diss, however, the rapper decided to flip the script. He spit over the beat to Kendrick Lamar’s diss, “Euphoria,” instead.

Meek Mill played the “Family Matters” freestyle in a car, which made sense. The rapper decided to get a little more adventurous when it came to “Euphoria,” though. Meek decided to walk through a department store and rap along to his recorded freestyle in public. He documented the whole thing on his Instagram Live. He also provided some context in the form of a written caption. “I did Kendrick and Drake beats for practice,” he explained. Meek Mill is no stranger to rap beef. Especially when it comes to the 6 God. He has weighed in on the Drake and Kendrick Lamar battle via social media, but his overall sentiment was a little confusing.

Meek Mill Praised Both Drake And Dot During The Battle

Meek Mill avoided choosing sides, then proceeded to big up his own battle skills in the process. He also shed light on his PR situation, for some reason. “My PR has been off for a year,” he tweeted back in May. “When I’m gone they will give it up! Ima just keep grinding! [The] boy and Kendrick have their own lanes and qualities they great at also!” To be fair to Meek, he may be ahead of the game, rather than behind it. While “Family Matters” and “Euphoria” are months old, Drake has been hinting at a second round of the battle.

The Toronto rapper posted an Instagram Story of Rasheed Wallace proclaiming: “We will win Game 2.” Fans didn’t have to do too much deep diving to know that he was alluding the Kendrick Lamar battle. Drake took the Instagram Story down shortly after, though, which confounded just about everybody. Meek Mill may have more diss songs to freestyle over, if the 6 God makes good on his quasi-cryptic post.

Big Sean Reveals COVID Diagnosis During Emotional IG Live: Watch

Big Sean has been through a lot since he dropped his last album. He became a father, he quit drinking, and apparently, he suffered from COVID. The rapper hopped on Instagram Live ahead of his new album release and dropped the bombshell news about his diagnosis. Big Sean talked about the various ways in which he feels he’s been tested since 2020. He also relayed the importance of these tests, and the role they play in the lyrical content of Better Me Than You.

Big Sean doesn’t take long to get emotional. Upon reflecting on the last four years, the rapper starts to tear up. He turns away from the camera, and even cuts at one point before walking back into the frame. “When you make art, you put your heart into this sh*t,” he explains. Big Sean then reveals that he is in the midst of recovering from COVID. “When I had COVID last week,” he reveals. “I was down and I was still working on the album.” The rapper then pointed out the irony of his diagnosis, given that his last album, Detroit 2, dropped during the pandemic. “When I last dropped an album, it was COVID,” he noted. “I was excited to plan my release party, I was excited to do all of that.”

Big Sean Is Already Working On His Next Album

Big Sean credits his family with helping him get through such a difficult time. He recalls a phone call from his mother that helped to put everything in perspective. Especially with regards to the release date of the album. “She was giving me them words,” he explained. “And I was just like, look, I can keep working on some sh*t and make it exactly how I wanted. But I’d be pushing it back forever.” He ultimately decided to have faith in the music he had, and put it out August 30. “That’s what I’mma do,” he told viewers. “The album is dropping this week.”

Big Sean also revealed that he’s begun work on his next album. He explained that he kept working while he was sick, and actually has dozens of songs that didn’t make the Better Me Than You tracklist. One of them, evidently, features Fantasia. Big Sean dubbed their collab “soulful,” and hinted at its inclusion on whatever he drops next. The uncertainty over which songs to include makes sense, given that Sean had to deal with Better Me Than You leaking in its entirety. We’re excited to hear the final version.

Lil Uzi Vert Seemingly Uses Nitrous During Studio Session: Watch

Lil Uzi Vert has fans worried. The rapper was spotting using a substance that looks like nitrous oxide during a studio session. The other people in the video fail to comment on Lil Uzi Vert’s actions, despite the rapper very clearly inhaling a substance from a balloon. Fans have flocked to social media to voice their concern. Especially given Lil Uzi Vert’s past struggles with substance abuse and addiction. The use of nitrous has also led parallels to be drawn between Uzi Vert and Kanye West. The latter was recently accused of being addicted to the gas.

Uzi Vert has been open about their addictive tendencies. The rapper revealed that they spent seven months in a rehab during a 2023 interview with the magazine 032c. Lil Uzi Vert admitted they didn’t want to go to rehab. They were eventually urged to do so by their Roc Nation boss, JAY-Z. “I didn’t want to do it, but I had to and I can say now that it was a great thing to do,” they explained. “The first month and a half were hard. But after that, it was easy, because the people there became my family.” Uzi Vert also admitted their skepticism over the effectiveness of rehab. “I was so sure that it wasn’t going to work,” they explained. “But surprisingly it’s pretty effective.”

Nitrous has become a major talking in the hip hop sphere due to Kanye West. His former employee, Milo Yiannopoulos, claimed that the rapper was completely dependent on the gas. He even the man who he blames for nurturing West’s addiction, Dr. Thomas P. Connelly. West’s representatives have denied the claims. Interestingly enough, Kanye West and Lil Uzi Vert are longtime supporters of each other’s music. Uzi claims 808s & Heartbreak changed his life, and the album went on to inspire the rapper’s aesthetic. Kanye West, on the other hand, called Uzi Vert the “future” of hip hop during an April interview.

Uzi Vert told 032c that being sober actually improved his creative process. “I could think more clear,” they realized. “And could actually like, instead of my words slurring, even though that’s kinda cool, everything made sense. I didn’t just make random music.” The rapper also urged fans struggling with addiction to stay clean. “It’s the best thing to do,” they concluded. “It’ll change your life. And you’ll look better.” Hopefully Uzi Vert doesn’t regress.

Drake Follows Kanye West On Instagram After Unexpected Concert Tribute

Drake and Kanye West continue to baffle fans. They are two of the biggest rappers of all time. They have openly talked about the impact that they have had on each other’s careers. And they can’t seem to figure out if they’re friends or enemies. It seemed like there was no chance that Drake and Kanye West would patch things up in 2024. Then, seemingly out of nowhere, Drake started following the Chicago rapper on Instagram. No hoopla or fanfare, but the gestures was so notable thats fans quickly took notice.

There were signs that something was going on. Kanye West performed a staggering, seventy plus song set in South Korea last week. The rapper ran through all of his classic hits, including “I Wonder.” Before he performed “I Wonder,” however, West decided to dedicate the song to his former enemy. “This one for Drake,” he told an understandably confused crowd. Drake didn’t comment on the shout out, but he did include Kanye West in his ongoing “100 Gigs” project two days later. The 6 God posted unreleased footage of himself talking about Kanye West after they performed at 2013 OVO Fest.

Drake Recently Released Footage Praising Ye

In what felt like a very pointed inclusion, Drake gush about Kanye West to his team. “Yo, that was crazy! That’s real rap sh*t,” the Toronto rapper explained. “We don’t communicate with each other enough and sometimes when we get on that stage, it’s an outpouring of emotion.” Drake admitted to feeling a sense of competition with Kanye West, but he also conceded that he’s an enormous fan. “I’m the biggest Ye fan. Period,” he asserted. “Sometimes I feel like I can’t like it because I gotta go against it. But that sh*t tonight was almost therapeutic.” It does really seem like both men are reconsidering their relationship at the moment.

The concert shout out, the footage, and the Instagram follow are a far cry from where Drake and West were at just a few months ago. It’s worth noting that Kanye West was so anti-Drake that he decided to elbow his way into the Kendrick Lamar battle. He dropped a remix to “Like That” in which he attacked Drizzy and his business dealings. He went voiced excitement for the “elimination of Drake” during an accompanying interview. Again: all that happened in April. Maybe we will get Drake and Kanye West music after all.

Wendy Williams Spotted In Public For First Time In Over A Year

We used to see Wendy Williams on a daily basis. She was the host of The Wendy Williams Show from 2008 to 2021. In the years since the show ended, however, the celebrity has been increasing harder to spot. She has removed herself from the spotlight. So much so, in fact, that a sighting of her is now big enough news to make headlines. The sighting occurred on August 19. Wendy Williams visited a store in New Jersey and posed for a photo with the owner, Victor Bowman. Page Six reported that the former TV host was “sharp, upbeat and aware,” in addition to being “very bubbly.”

An employee told the outlet that Wendy Williams was looking for various holistic products. “She talked about circulation improvement,” they recalled. “But didn’t want to get into too much detail on their first meeting and plans to come back in the near future.” The employee also said Williams’ son, Kevin Hunter, Jr., was explaining some of the products to her. “[She] was engaging but wasn’t as familiar with what we do her,” they added. The visit marked the first time Williams was publicly photographed since March of 2023.

Wendy Williams Was Last Photographed In March 2023

Wendy Williams’ decision to keep a low public profile has coincided with her health struggles. She was diagnosed with progressive aphasia and frontotemporal dementia in 2023, according to Today. Williams’ medical team issued a statement confirming that her health had begun to inhibit her ability to perform on television. “Questions have been raised at times about Wendy’s ability to process information and many have speculated about Wendy’s condition,” the statement noted. “Particularly when she began to lose words, act erratically at times, and have difficulty understanding financial transactions. Receiving a diagnosis has enabled Wendy to receive the medical care she requires.”

Wendy Williams has spoken at length about her condition. That said, the celebrity did thank her fans for the support she received post-diagnosis. “I want to say I have immense gratitude for the love and kind words I have received after sharing my diagnosis,” she wrote in a statement. “Your response has been overwhelming. The messages shared with me have touched me.” It’s definitely encouraging to see her out and about.

Lil Wayne Shuts Down Drake Beef Rumors By Reposting New Song

Lil Wayne and Drake are one of the great rap duos of the 21st century. They have made countless hits together. Drake’s career wouldn’t have been the same without Lil Wayne, and Drake elevated Wayne’s Young Money label to heights previously thought unknown. The relationship between these two is very special to fans. Which is precisely why we were all so relieved on August 26. Lil Wayne reposted a link to one of Drake’s new songs. A minor gesture on the surface, but a seeming confirmation that everything is good between the rappers.

Drake dropped three new songs on August 23 and Lil Wayne reposted the single “No Face.” No emojis or additional text, but this is the first time the rappers have acknowledged each other in weeks. It’s been a touch and go period for Drake when it comes to his industry relationships. The Toronto star has fell out with seemingly every other big name in the game, with a few notable exceptions. Lil Wayne appeared to be one of these exceptions. He tried to spin the meaning of Kendrick Lamar’s diss “Not Like Us” during a show, and wound up just confusing fans. Then, Wayne started linking up with some of Drake’s enemies. He rapped alongside Rick Ross on the DJ Premier song “Ya Don’t Stop.”

Fans Have Been Confused By Lil Wayne’s Recent Antics

Then, Wayne was seen rocking an XO chain. XO, of course, being the label and brand of another 6 God opponent, The Weeknd. The biggest head-scratcher for fans, though, was Weezy’s verse on the Cordae song “Saturday Mornings.” There were lots of subliminal digs littered through Wayne’s verse and many theorized that Drake was the target. “You standing on business, I’m a business man,” he raps. I’ma GOAT, n**ga you a sacrificial lamb. You a Teddy bear, n**ga, a Teddy Graham.”

Barring any major revelations, Lil Wayne’s repost seems to debunk the theory that him and Drake are on the outs. Weezy actually defended the rapper as recently as January. During an episode of the Richard Sherman Podcast, Wayne posited that the Drake hatred stems from colorism. “He red, he light-skinned,” he stated. That’s just American history… How I know is because I’m not light-skinned. I hated on all light-skinned dudes in school. So yeah, it’s American history, man.”
