Founded by Rashad Bilal and Troy Millings of Earn Your Leisure with Matthew Garland, Invest Fest 2024, dubbed “the Super Bowl for entrepreneurs,” concluded a record-breaking weekend, leaving an indelible mark on the 20,000+ attendees who gathered to gain financial literacy and network with some of the most influential figures in business, finance, entertainment, and culture. From transformative AI tools provided by Microsoft to powerful conversations with industry leaders across every genre, this year’s event redefined the intersection of business and culture.

VIP Night: Industry Giants, Intimate Conversations, and Unforgettable Performances: The weekend kicked off with a VIP night that set an unforgettable tone for the festival. Guests were treated to engaging conversations with T.I. and Shannon Sharpe, followed by a breathtaking performance by Monica that concluded with a surprise drone show, mesmerizing the crowd and went viral all over social media. Cocktails flowed, courtesy of ASAP Rocky’s Mercer + Prince, making the evening one of the most talked-about events. Bacardi and Grey Goose sponsored an intimate dinner the night before VIP night hosted by Rashad Bilal and Troy Millings of Earn Your Leisure at Prime on Peachtree.

Marketplace Magic: Celebrity engagement and support for local businesses Invest Fest’s vendor marketplace was a hive of activity, featuring local and national businesses showcasing their products. Industry leaders like 50 Cent and Wyclef Jean were spotted interacting with vendors and attendees, highlighting the importance of celebrity support in elevating community-based enterprises. Negril and Slutty Vegan food trucks were among the crowd favorites, serving up local flavors and drawing attention to Atlanta’s vibrant food scene.

A Standout Moment, The $100K Pitch Competition with Microsoft and Continuing Nipsey Hussle’s Legacy: One of the weekend’s standout moments was the $100,000 pitch competition, presented by Earn Your Leisure, Microsoft, and The Nipsey Hussle Foundation. Microsoft didn’t just stop at financial support; they empowered all finalists with cutting-edge AI tools designed to help entrepreneurs scale their businesses, even if they didn’t win the grand prize. Copilot was showcased as an essential tool for streamlining operations, enhancing decision-making, and driving growth; which are vital for minority entrepreneurs in today’s competitive market.

The Pitch competition, which attracted widespread attention, culminated with a local entrepreneur winning the grand prize for her innovative business idea that resonated deeply with both the judges and the audience. Adding to the significance of this moment, a life-size wax figure of Nipsey Hussle was unveiled during the event, serving as a powerful tribute to his enduring legacy.

This competition is more than just a financial award; it is a continuation of Nipsey Hussle’s enduring legacy—a legacy rooted in empowering Black and Brown communities to achieve financial independence and create lasting change within their own neighborhoods. This initiative is a direct reflection of Nipsey’s vision to foster economic growth and shift the narrative within underserved communities. His insights on wealth-building and community empowerment set the tone for a day filled with impactful discussions.

AI’s potential was further explored in a panel led by Van Jones, Wyclef Jean, and Will Lucas, who discussed how AI can be harnessed to improve life and business in minority communities. Will.i.am unveiled his new AI tool, a groundbreaking innovation in music and technology, giving Invest Fest attendees an exclusive first look at a product that’s poised to revolutionize the industry.

Industry Leaders Share Unmatched Insights: A Festival of Wisdom and Inspiration Sunday continued the momentum with powerful sessions led by some of the most respected names in business and entertainment. Stephen A. Smith and Steve Harvey kicked off the day with a discussion on success, opportunity, and the art of making impactful first impressions—insights that resonated deeply with the audience and set social media abuzz with key takeaways.

Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson took the stage to share lessons from his diverse business ventures, drawing from personal experiences and the wisdom imparted by his grandfather. His candid and humorous storytelling captivated the audience, particularly his strategic insights on investing in Shreveport, Louisiana—a city he plans to help transform through industry and entertainment.

The festival concluded with a high-energy conversation between Damond John and Terrence J, focusing on smart decision-making and the tools necessary to scale and sustain a successful business. Tyrese and Kenny Burns wrapped up the weekend with an engaging dialogue that left attendees inspired and eager to take on new challenges.

Kurious Shares “Untainted” Off MF DOOM Executive Produced Album

Screenshot 2024 09 05 at 1.04.26 PM

NYC Hip Hop mainstay Kurious has shared today the second track off his forthcoming album Majician, titled “Untainted”. The song and album were executive produced by his longtime friend and collaborator MF DOOM before his passing and produced by Mono En Stereo.

With its throwback beat and Kurious’ steady, driving lyrics, he explains the meaning behind the titled, saying, “That’s a term DOOM used to use a lot. If you play him something that’s tainted, or something is wrong with it, and I don’t know if you’ve ever seen him listening to shit he dont’ like, it literally hurts him, it’s like a migraine. He’s such a genius, and he’s hearing all kinds of shit…he’ll squint his eyes that certain way, or put his hands on his temple, and be like, “yo, don’t play me that….”.

[WATCH] Tekashi 6ix9ine Drops “Repuesta” Diss Aimed At Ex-GF Yailin La Mas Viral

Never one be far removed from drama, Tekashi 6ix9ine has decided to use his own personal drama to generate some views and this time it involves his former flame, singer Yailin La Mas Viral. The troubled, and now wanted, Brooklyn rapper dropped “Repuesta”, a diss track along with a video yesterday(September 4) aimed at ex-girlfriend and fellow artist Yailin La Mas Viral and the ‘Get The Strap” rapper goes in on his former lover.

Even though all of the lyrics are in Spanish(and can understood in depth by those who speak the language), the visual for Repuesta(which means response) gives viewers 6ix9ine’s perception of the rocky relationship between the two artists. Also, with Tekashi known for his flamboyant wears and hairstyles, toned it down this time around, donning a black suit while casually spitting his verses instead of his signature screaming style.

The visual includes footage of the rapper and Yailin La Mas Viral when they were still together. The duo dated throughout 2023 before ending things in August. Footage also includes 6ix9ine interacting with Yailin La Mas Viral’s son, whom she shares with Puerto Rican rapper Anuel AA. The relationship publicly went sour when it was reported that 6ix9ine was arrested in the Dominican Republic on domestic violence charges back in January after a report was made by Yailin’s mother.

Ludacris is known for his outlandish visuals in his videos, but he brought one oh his most famous looks to life yesterday(September 4) at the Atlanta Braves game when he threw out the first pitch wearing the enormous muscle arms he donned in his famous video “Get Back”.

Before the Braves home game against the Rockies at ATL’s Truist Bank Park, Luda threw out the game’s ceremonial first pitch wearing the massive muscle bound arms along with the super sized Air Force 1s from his “Stand Up” smash hit to match.

Even with the extra arm wear, the “Area Codes” rapper was still able to throw the ball close to the strike zone, to the surpise of many, including the Braves bat boy who caught the pitch.

The 46-year-old rapper/actor’s presence was part of a celebration to honor Atlanta music artists and their impact on culture. 15,000 fans who were lucky enough to be present in Truist Park for the game were given a limited edition Ludacris bobblehead.

SOURCE SPORTS: Olympian Rebecca Cheptegei Passes Away After Being Set On Fire By BF

Screenshot 2024 09 05 at 9.55.39 AM

Several reports have confirmed that Ugandan Olympic athlete Rebecca Cheptegei died Thursday(September 5) at a Kenyan hospital where she was being treated after 80% of her body was burned in an attack by her partner.

Cheptegei was only 33 years old.

A spokesperson at Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital in Eldoret City confirmed Cheptegei’s death on Thursday. Menach said the long-distance runner died early in the morning after her organs failed. She had been fully sedated on admission at the hospital.

Cheptegei ran in the women’s marathon at the Paris Olympics almost a month before the attack. She finished in 44th place.

Trans Nzoia County Police Commander Jeremiah ole Kosiom said Monday that Cheptegei’s partner, Dickson Ndiema, bought a can of gasoline, poured it on her and set her ablaze during a disagreement Sunday. Ndiema was also burned and was being treated at the same hospital.

Menach said Ndiema was still in the intensive care unit with burns over 30% of his body but was “improving and stable.”

Cheptegei’s parents said their daughter bought land in Trans Nzoia to be near the county’s many athletic training centers. A report filed by the local chief said the two were heard fighting over the land where her house was built before the attack.

The Uganda Athletics Federation eulogized Cheptegei on X, posting, “We are deeply saddened to announce the passing of our athlete, Rebecca Cheptegei, early this morning who tragically fell victim to domestic violence. As a federation, we condemn such acts and call for justice. May her soul rest In Peace.”

Uganda Olympic Committee President Donald Rukare called the attack “a cowardly and senseless act that has led to the loss of a great athlete.”

The song continues to stand the test of time.

Today In Hip Hop History: Poor Righteous Teachers Dropped Their ‘Pure Poverty’ LP 33 Years Ago

prtpurepoverty

On this date in 1991, Trentonians Wise Intelligent, Culture Freedom and DJ Father Shaheed followed up their debut album Holy Intellect with their sophomore smash Pure Poverty, which was released under Profile Records.

Produced primarily by NJ producer Toney Dofat aka Tony D, the 13 track full length studio effort didn’t receive the mainstream success as did its predecessor, however, marketing dollars for conscious artists became less available for conscious artists and more available for “gangsta rap” artists such as DJ Quik whose debut album Quik Is The Name went gold in four months on the same label.

Sure shot singles from PRT’s second album include “Shakiyla”, an ode to the everyday Black woman, their own rendition of the 5% Nation’s national anthem “The Enlightener”, which they entitled “The Nation’s Anthem” and the mathematically saturated “Methods Of Dropin’ Mental”.

Salute to Wise, Culture, Tony D and a supreme RIP salute to Father Shaheed, who was killed in a motorcycle accident in 2014 at the age of 45. The Hip Hop world will never forget this timeless gem!
