Propain has not been the most active rapper this year, but he is back to deliver a new LP for his fans. The Houston, Texas artist has just come by with a 13-track offering in the form of Made From Scratch. It has been quite some time since HNHH has covered one of Propain’s projects. In fact, it was about two years ago that we touched on It Ain’t Safe Outside. That was also a tighter listen, sitting at just 12 songs and 41 minutes in length. It contained features from other Texas natives like Sauce Walka, Slim Thug, Paul Wall, and more.

Made From Scratch also features names from the state where it is go big or go home. Propain grabbed guest verses from Big K.R.I.T., Sauce Walka, OTB Fastlane, up-and-comer That Mexican OT, and more. One track we wanted to feature includes the talents of Freddie Gibbs and Devin The Dude. It is track number 10 on the LP.

There is a ton of Southern hip-hop influence here, obviously. But, this song does it a little differently. It removes the heavy bass and relies solely on softer drums. Additionally, there is some great layering here too. The “always down” looping vocals add to the dusty and hypnotizing feeling this track gives off. Propain and Freddie deliver some aggressive verses to contrast the more lowkey production.

After a collaboration with Chrisean Rock, it is clear that Mabu wants to step his game up. Subsequently, he has found himself next to Fivio Foreign, who is a giant of the New York drill scene. Below, you can find the music video for their song “Teach Me How To Drill.” As it turns out, this entire concept is based on Mabu being in school, and Fivior being his drill tutor. It is a unique concept that is certainly also a novel one.

As for the song itself, it is a fiery drill beat that a lot of fans are going to be excited about. Overall, Mabu and Fivio deliver spirited performances. They trade bars on every verse, and it is mostly because Fivio says the N-word for Mabu on numerous occasions. Sometimes, the song borders on bad taste, but that has always been Mabu’s M.O.

Greedo has a great voice and he translates this into buttery smooth flows and some cadences that ride the beat to perfection.

As for the production here, we get some really nice soft synths, as well as guitar lines that add some flare. As for the drums, they are loud but not too overpowering. They say he was handcuffed “and subsequently convicted” on drug charges. “Specifics of the charges have not been disclosed publicly, but it is believed that his involvement in illicit drug trade led to his incarceration.” He was also dealing with issues back in 2021 as well, around the release of his project, Indicted. Even with the extensive problems, Q Da Fool has been dropping consistently this year.

Born in New York and raised in Florida, Robb Bank$ is a veteran in the game. Dropping singles since 2013, he is mostly known for his roots in cloud rap and trap. He has been at one of the busiest stages of his career this year. 12 singles have his name with them and for projects, he sits at three. The first of the three came out on July 5, with I Dnt txt back, I Dnt call. Following that, Robb returned a handful of months later with a follow-up/sequel with 2 Fone Shawty.

That brought on similar artists to him such as BONES and Austin Paul. The most recent effort we talked about at length was his collaborative tape with Tony Shhnow back on Halloween. Over the past couple of weeks, Bank$ has been dropping single after single. “Back on My Grizzy” was a track we also touched on. Of course, most people are going to expect another album on the way.

However, it looks like that one will not make an album. “My Bleed,” which has just come out, will be. It is a haunting short cut with a grimy dark beat.
