Russ Calls Out Hip-Hop Media With Conductor Williams-Produced “Legend Freestyle”

Russ has always been a pretty vocal guy and a controversial one in the eyes of some as well. His passion for the landscape of hip-hop, where he fits within it, and the media’s relationship with the artists, are all topics you can find him speaking on. All three are sort of covered in Russ’ newest song “Legend Freestyle,” produced by Conductor Williams. The latter is discussed, but the Georgia MC is holding back one bit. He’s calling out publications by name and unleashing on the credentials of journalists. “I’m not impressed with editors of Rolling Stone or GQ / Y’all egos crazy if you think that artists actually need you / Y’all don’t move the needle.”

But he doesn’t stop there. “It’s a different game, adapt, just like the rest of us / Critics can’t take criticism but be the first ones disrespectin’ us, p***ies / Cosplayin’ as God like you got power, power.” It’s not anything jaw-dropping from Russ at this point, as he’s been saying this for years. On top of putting the media on blast, he gasses himself up as a legend in the game. In some respects, he certainly has standing to make this claim. He’s been a dominant figure in the sort-of underground, sort-of mainstream lane for over a decade due to his prolific nature. Give the track a spin and see what you think of it and its messages.

“Legend Freestyle” – Russ

Quotable Lyrics:

If you do me wrong I’m in unforgivin’ mood
I make the music that my younger self would love to listen to
Permission to be myself, but I’m not askin’ no more
I starved myself of self-love, but I’m not fastin’ no more
Tell myself that I’m okay, I’m just workin’ on believin’ it
I see all the love and praise, I’m workin’ on receivin’ it

Kal Banx & Isaiah Rashad Connect & Kickback On Mellow “Sunstory”

If you don’t know who Kal Banx is, you may want to do your homework on the TDE (Top Dawg Entertainment) producer. He’s been behind some of the best singles and projects over the last several years. 2024 has especially been a strong year for the steady veteran, though. Banx has his prints all over Doechii’s excellent breakout mixtape Alligator Bites Never Heal. ScHoolboy Q got some assistance from him on BLUE LIPS. But don’t think he’s only favoring his label mates. Banx produced Denzel Curry’s “Walkin,” several Baby Keem tracks from DIE FOR MY B****, as well a few from Dreamville’s Revenge Of The Dreamers III.

However, the hitmaker has spent most of his time in the industry lending a hand to other MCs. But it seems like Kal Banx is getting ready to drop his first solo project because he’s back with “Sunstory.” This record comes just a few weeks after the release of “HOP OUT CHO FEELINS” with Smino and Buddy. If you have heard that, it’s a pretty lowkey trunk-knocker with crisp bass and melodic performances. The same goes for “Sunstory,” which features the most chill MC on the TDE label, Isaiah Rashad. These tracks are very cohesive sonically, the cover artworks are almost identical, which means an album has to be on the horizon… right?

Maxo Kream Delivers An Excellent & Wise Tale About Being With The Right Crowd On “Big H*e Me”

Maxo Kream remains a prominent yet underrated figure within the Southern hip-hop region. The Houston native has been having a pretty remarkable year amongst the megastars in his area such as Megan Thee Stallion, Don Toliver, and Travis Scott. For example, he’s been developing a tight knit relationship with underground producer evilgiane with the rauchy “Bang The Bus” and heat-seeking “Eye Know.” You can also take a look at his respectable feature run in 2024 which consists of the assistance of 03 Greedo, Denzel Curry, That Mexican OT, and more. However, his efforts in which he’s been the featured act are arguably the most impressive. “No Then You A H*e,” is a touching and painful tribute to his late father, who tragically passed earlier this year.

It’s a tremendous story-telling record, and one that displays just how talented of a writer he is. That similar level of excellence shows up on Maxo Kream’s latest single, “Big H*e Me.” It’s one of the tracks that will appear on his upcoming album that will be out on November 8, Personification. Based on the title and creative artwork, it looks like we are getting all of Maxo’s personalities, ranging from earnest and serious, personal, and carefree. “Big H*e Me” looks to fit in the former of the categories, as the nearly five-minute cut explores into betrayal and personal experiences with back stabbers. It also touches on being around the right people, something that Maxo had to learn from the age of 14. He continues to wow us this year and we cannot wait for the album.

Ken Carson Drops Off Mind-Melting Single “Delusional”

It seems that 2023 was Ken Carson’s breakout year. He had been bubbling before A Great Chaos, but he really blew up and put everyone on notice. A protege of Playboi Carti, he’s been showing the hip-hop world that he will be a face of the rage subgenre for years to come. Viral singles such “ss” (Sydney Sweeney), “overseas,” and “Fighting My Demons,” are all displays of the lane he’s currently dominating. It’s glitchy, booming, and futuristic trap-like beats, with slurred deliveries and blunt lyricism. Ken Carson is staying true to that formula on his newest release “delusional,” which is his first record since the deluxe to A Great Chaos.

The Atlanta, Georgia rapper has never been one to have hidden meanings in his songs, and this one is no different. On this blistering single, Carson is giving it to this girl straight that she isn’t all she’s made herself up to be. “This b**** must be delusional / She think she perfect, huh, huh, she think she worth it, huh, huh.” However, this record is also about other’s people’s beliefs that can check him. “Try to rob me and my gang, you gon’ need many men.” This kingpin mentality carries into the last few bars of the track where he declares that he’s going to be president. It’s an in-your-face display both literally and figuratively and it just continues to show that Ken’s not going anywhere.

Benji Blue Bills & Lazer Dim 700 Are Ready To Get Active On Load Out”

Five-year underground rapper from Georgia, Benji Blue Bills, is back with one of the fast risers in his hometown in LAZER DIM 700 for a new record. It’s actually their first track together and it’s called “Load Out.” It arrives after an Instagram post from the former documenting their link-up. “I fw luh Lazer 👾” Blue Bills wrote about a week and a half ago. Then, yesterday, he shared a teaser of the music video for “Load Out,” which is out now on YouTube.

This track also follows Benji’s third solo project 500k Degrees, which dropped back in late August. As for LAZER DIM 700, he’s been having a nice few weeks himself. In particular, his feature game is thriving. He was on VonOff1700’s “Dead N****s” with Polo G and most recently teamed up with Denzel Curry and Bktherula on “STILL IN THE PAINT.” Overall, “Load Out” is pretty standard fare from both Benji and and LAZER. It’s violent and almost cynical, as well as grungy and dark. Their chemistry is there though, so for fans of each of these MC’s we want to know what y’all think. Check out the single first and then leave your thoughts below in the comments.

Skyzoo & Method Man’s Pens Are On Needlepoint On “The Workload”

One of the more underappreciated writers from the East Coast is back with a fiery vengeance and he’s not alone. We are talking about Brookyn, New York rapper Skyzoo and Method Man and they are here to show everyone again how clever their pen games are. “The Workload” is their first-ever collaboration and we are so thankful they decided to combine their talents. Hopefully, it continues because this is an excellent start to what could be a beautiful work relationship in the future. Their wealth of experience shows as Skyzoo and Meth rip off impressive one liners and double entendres left and right.

Some of the Wu-Tang Clan member’s are below, but here are some from Skyzoo just to give you an extra taste. “I can pen your doom or I can lead you where the plaques are / Catch me fully loaded rolling I click it and clear the fog / You listen to the quotes my Essentials is Fear of God.” Overall, it’s a thrilling track from start to finish from a lyrical perspective alone. However, we would be remiss to not mention the work done by Cartune Beatz. It’s dark, ominous, and intimidating just like Skyzoo and Method Man are on the track. On November 29, the former will be dropping Keep Me Company, and we are thrilled this will most likely be on it.

Sukihana Does Her Best Michael Jackson Impression On “WTFO”

One thing to know about Sukihana is that she’s going to do whatever the f*** she wants, and you just have to accept it. If she says she’s not a musician (which she is), then she isn’t. Does anyone remember that quote from her interview from her interview with Bobbi Althoff? We’re going on a tangent, she’s got some new music out, so let’s talk about it. Sukihana’s latest offering is called “WTFO” (Walk The F*** Out) and it’s about what you expect from her.

It’s braggadocious, blunt, and ratchet, and her authentic self. It’s why her fans respect her and come back for more each and every time. However, there is a bit of a curveball thrown on this record. On her second verse, she randomly busts out Michael Jackson’s iconic “hee-eeh” adlib. Suki then utilizes that to emphasize words such as “free” and “me.” It’s quite hysterical and the fans have been talking about it nonstop since its release. Goofiness aside, this seems to be the second track that’s possibly promoting a new project. Nothing has been formally declared yet, but she dropped “WTFO” and coupled it with the previously released “Suki Suki.” If this turns out to be true, it will be her first full-length effort of her career, which started in 2017.

B****, I feel like Michael Jackson, huh, hee-eeh

I don’t want no roof Chris n**** kids

Denzel Curry Does Waka Flocka’s Classic Justice With “Still In The Paint” Featuring Lazer Dim 700 & Bktherula

Anytime Denzel Curry drops an album, it’s pretty much a guarantee that it’s going to be a contender for best of that year. 2024 is no different as the Florida rapper revived his King Of The Mischievous South series over a decade later with Vol. 2. It was instead billed as an album, but it didn’t lose the nostalgic mixtape qualities of the original. From front to back, Zeltron put together banger after banger and did so with paying homage to the Memphis sound he’s done such a great job with over the years. It felt elevated somehow compared to his previous efforts and it remains in rotation for us since its release in July.

However, he isn’t done with this era just yet, even though it’s already great. But knowing how talented he is, he’s one of those MC’s who manages to outdo himself. Denzel Curry has done just that and then some on his new single “STILL IN THE PAINT.” It’s the lead-off track for the deluxe KOTMS V2, which is going to be just referred to as King Of The Mischievous South. It will arrive on November 15 and will include three extra tracks plus “STILL IN THE PAINT.”

If the title sounds familiar, that’s because Curry is sampling Waka Flocka’s magnum opus, “Hard in Da Paint.” Charlie Heat cleans up the mixing and it sounds absolutely bonkers. Waka must be proud of the results, especially since he makes cameos in the song’s music video. The energy is contagious thanks to LAZER DIM 700 and Bktherula understanding the assignment. It may be the best pure banger of the year and it’s going to be on repeat for a while.

Central Cee Raps Like A Man Possessed On “One By One”

Central Cee may have just come by with one of his best performances on his latest single, “One By One.” The record is also a collaboration with the popular music platform A Colors Show, or simply COLORS. It’s his first-ever appearance on the aesthetically pleasing studio and he takes full advantage of this opportunity by going ballistic on the mic. He changes up the tone this time around, getting more personal and vulnerable. He raps about losing close friends, relationships, his struggles, and being a mentally tough.

He delivers these bars with great proficiency and passion, while displaying great breath control and technical ability. Also making “One By One” another hit for Central Cee is the Cash Cobain production. At times, his style can grow stale, and he tends to lean too heavily on samples. But the New Yorker cooked with this one, as the flipped Bryson Tiller vocals have that timeless chipmunk soul treatment. Those effects mixed with the speedy drill drums and knocking 808s come together to work in perfect harmony. In terms of what value this song will hold, it could be another single for Cench’s upcoming album, CAN’T RUSH GREATNESS.

Lady London Is Feeling “Brand New” On Her Latest Single

Lady London has returned with a fiery new single titled, “Brand New,” featuring production from Hitmaka. Across the two-minute and twenty-three-second track, she raps about feeling brand new and compares herself to her outdated peers. “Wake up a brand new me,” she raps on the chorus, before listing off her new jewelry, new men, and more. Fans in the comments section on YouTube are loving the new single. “Lady London voice just do it for me plus her word play fyeee,” the top comment reads. Another fan writes: “It’s a BANGER!! Love it, is anyone surprised???!! She always comes thru wit the ‘brand new.’”

London got into music after acquiring her BS from Howard University and her Master’s degree from USC. Speaking with HNHH about her career, in 2022, she explained her decision to forego medical school. “I was going to school—I had a ten-year plan for medicine, foolproof. And I started rapping in March 2018. My first video went viral. [It was] 8.7 million views of me rapping in a car, and it’s been up since. So, you just can’t run from destiny, I think,” she said at the time. Check out “Brand New” below. It arrives a year after her latest project, S.O.U.L., released to critical acclaim in 2023.
