Memphis Bleek Says JAY-Z Isn’t Interested In Doing A Collaborative Album

Memphis Bleek says that he is still trying to convince JAY-Z to team up for a collaborative album, but he doesn’t think it will happen. He discussed the possibility during a recent interview with TMZ.

“I’m on that boat too. I wish!” he told the outlet when asked about the idea. From there, he admitted that he still doesn’t think it will happen. “I don’t think so. Hov too far gone, man! I was supposed to try this when he had $100 million, not a billion. When you got a billion, it’s hard to get you in the booth. Only his wife can do it.”

Despite the odds being unlikely, Bleak is still holding out hope that his persistence will pay off. “Hold it ’cause I’m trying. I still send him joints, I get shot down like a clay pigeon,” he joked. “But something gon’ stick one day, ya know? But if we could drop an EP together, that would be — c’mon, that would close off the whole trilogy of the ‘Coming of Age’ story. [Fans] need something classic.” Check out the interview below.

Memphis Bleak Discusses Working With JAY-Z

The pair grew up in Brooklyn’s Marcy Projects and first worked together on JAY-Z’s Reasonable Doubt song, “Coming of Age.” JAY-Z previously reflected on his friendship with Memphis Bleek in his 2010 book Decoded. “I collared him and said, ‘Look, I’m making an album and you can be on it, but you have to learn this song in 24 hours. You don’t learn it, then you’re not on it,’” Jay recalled. “He took the paper I handed him and looked it over. I’d written the verse down for him in some chicken scratch… He came to my apartment the next day and spit the whole thing like he’d been doing it his whole life.”

JPEGMAFIA & Danny Brown Unleash “Scaring The Hoes: DLC Pack” EP

One of the best albums of 2023 just got an upgrade, and it’s just as raw and impressive as its first volume. Moreover, JPEGMAFIA and Danny Brown just released the Scaring The H*es: DLC Pack, a four-track expansion on their stellar collaborative project from this year. Peggy’s obviously back on production, and his instrumentals are still a wonder of impressive sampling, gritty drum patterns, and dynamic motion. Furthermore, these beats provide a wild but addictive bed for both MCs to dominate, with hilarious references and wordplay plus some sharp lyricism. Overall, if you’re not a fan of the fringes of hip-hop that become more and more important with each year, then let this be your starting point.

First off, the opening track “Guess What B***h, We Back H*e!” is a classic flow and formula for the duo, with woozy synths and hard-hitting drums. However, “HERMANOS” takes things in a more laidback direction (instrumentally, at least) with a breezy guitar sample, reminiscent verses from JPEGMAFIA and Danny Brown, and a wild outro. In addition, the following cut “Tell Me Where To Go” is also a chilled-out cut with a great Al Green sample, calm delivery, and a solid boom-bap rhythm. Also, the final song brings back the gospel chops with distorted drums and a hilarious but sharp acapella outro from Danny.

In other news concerning the rappers, the Veteran artist looks like he’ll have a busy year, with him saying he has two more albums in the year. While it’s unclear whether this EP counts, he did spark rumors of a collab tape with Denzel Curry. Meanwhile, the unkowhatimsayin¿ creative recently spoke on working through writer’s block with Logic, and as complicated as the creative process might be, it’ll probably yield some more gold from all artists involved in the future. If you want to check out this new EP, find it on YouTube and peep the tracklist below. Also, stay up to date on HNHH for the latest news and updates on JPEGMAFIA and Danny Brown.

KayCyy Links Up With Gesaffelstein For “TW2052” Project

If you are a fan of KayCyy, you know that he is an incredibly unique artist with a great sound. Overall, he has been getting some pretty major co-signs from some big artists. For instance, in 2021, he even got to be part of Kanye West’s Donda. Although he was eventually taken off “Keep My Spirit Alive,” he was immediately remembered by fans who were paying attention. These days, he continues to make his own music, all while performing at huge festivals like Rolling Loud. Simply put, he is here to stay.

Subsequently, he has been teasing a brand-new project with the likes of Gesaffelstein. Gesaffelstein is a super producer of sorts who has worked with the likes of The Weeknd. He has a very dark and brooding electronic sound that fans love. Overall, we get to hear a glimpse of this project with the amazing song “Roll The Dice” in which KayCyy shows off his singing chops. Now, they are here with a full 7-track EP together called TW2052.

KayCyy Continues His Ascent

Gesaffelstein’s production is fantastic all across the album. Loud drums, electronic soundscapes, and quite a bit of ambiance allow for KayCyy to shine. Some of these tracks take an industrial hip-hop approach, such as “No Cold.” However, the first three songs have more of an r&b vibe that some could compare to The Weeknd and others of that ilk. Either way, this is KayCyy at his absolute best. He is experimenting quite a bit and is doing some great things here. This new project cements him as someone to continue watching.

With KayCyy making big moves, it will be interesting to see what he sets out to accomplish next. Of course, he is still young and still has so much upside as an artist. That said, let us know what you think of this latest project, in the comments section down below. Additionally, stay tuned to HNHH for the latest news and updates from around the music world. We will always bring you the latest releases from some of the biggest artists.

Tracklist:

  1. Roll The Dice
  2. Ashley’s Heartbeat
  3. Timeless
  4. No Cold
  5. Okay!
  6. The Sun
  7. Love & Hate

Deante Hitchcock Enlists DRAM, Big K.R.I.T., Westside Boogie, & More On “Once Upon A Time”

Deante Hitchcock has consistently proven to be a consistent artist who is constantly evolving. Coming out of Atlanta, Hitchcock has certainly been able to separate himself from his various contemporaries. Overall, this is an impressive feat and it has paid off in terms of garnering a fanbase. Although he may not be a mainstream artist, his fans treat him like one. They are constantly clamoring for new music, and with every release, they seem to crave more and more. Consequently, they were happy to hear about his new album Once Upon A Time.

This new project has been teased for quite some time, and now, it is finally here. Overall, there are 16 tracks to soak up here. Moreover, there are plenty of great features from artists like Westside Boogie, DRAM, and even Big K.R.I.T. That said, Hitchcock is the one who shines the most here. The album displays his immense range. Moreover, it also showcases the love that he has for his newborn son. In many ways, this is a concept album about fatherhood.

Deante’ Hitchcock Displays His Range

“At what was shaping up to be a turning point in my life, the world as we know it seemed to stop turning altogether. I watched our world change, and in the midst of it all, I had a son, became a father, and watched my world change as well,” Deante’ Hitchcock explained. “The word ‘son’ feels hella ironic to read, like the sun up in the sky that I used to stare at until it became an almost blinding blue bouncing ball of light, my son came into the world and brought a brightness into my life that could rival that of its homophone.”

This new project is a great step forward for the artist, and we’re sure many of you would agree. Hopefully, he has even more new music on the way. Let us know what you think of this album, in the comments below. Additionally, stay tuned to HNHH for the latest news from the music world.

Tracklist:

1. Time Of Their Lives

The Weeknd Announces “The Idol Vol. 1”

The Weeknd has announced a new project that will be arriving soon titled The Idol Vol. 1. The “Blinding Lights” singer teased the effort with a clip of himself in the studio on social media, Wednesday afternoon.

“THE IDOL VOL. 1 💿 coming soon (double fantasy & jealous guy just a taste),” The Weeknd wrote in the post. The clip comes after The Weeknd recently teased working on new music with Future during a rare live stream on Instagram. The two previously collaborated on “Low Life” from Future’s project, EVOL, as well as “All I Know” off of The Weeknd’s album, Starboy. During the live stream, The Weeknd also seemed to hint at making a surprise appearance during Coachella this weekend.

A new project for The Weeknd will mark his first since 2022’s critically acclaimed Dawn FM. With “Vol. 1” in the title, there’s also the implication that more projects will be on the way. The announcement comes as HBO prepares to release The Weeknd’s new series of the same name at some point this year. The show has dealt with numerous behind-the-scenes issues which were detailed by Rolling Stone in an exposé, earlier this year. They cited 13 sources close to the production who described it as a “shit show,” mentioning constant delays, reshoots, and rewrites.

HBO later addressed the piece in a statement. “The creators and producers of The Idol have been working hard to create one of HBO’s most exciting and provocative original programs. The initial approach on the show and production of the early episodes, unfortunately, did not meet HBO standards so we chose to make a change,” the statement read. “Throughout the process, the creative team has been committed to creating a safe, collaborative, and mutually respectful working environment.” The Weeknd also fired back at Rolling Stone with a video on Twitter featuring himself in character discussing the outlet.

The announcement comes after Swizz Beatz recently teased working on new music during an interview with Vibe. He told the outlet: “I’m just getting back into my zone music-wise. I’ve got a lot of music coming out, a lot of different genres of sounds. I’m just at a point where I just want to have fun with it again and just give people what they want, especially coming off Hip-Hop’s 50th and spilling that energy in the room. I was like ‘Man, I want to create some more space for us to be on those stages even more.’”

Outside of music, Swizz Beatz also discussed the current status of Verzuz, which is on hiatus for the time being. Speaking more with Vibe, Swizz Beatz explained that “something is cooking.” He elaborated: “Big, big, big announcements. The world know if they haven’t heard nothing from Verzuz for this long that, sh*t, something’s cooking. That’s a smart person [that’s] thinking that something is cooking. It’s been fun. We just.. Me and Tim wanted to reevaluate. We started in the basement and it went global, worldwide and sometimes you’ve got to pull it in and give the 2.0 version because you know what people want, you know, what you could have done different. You know, it’s like starting in a Mom & Pop’s store. Now, it’s like a major thing, so we’ve got to make it an even more major thing.”

Jim Jones Says Jadakiss Missed Opportunity To Drop A Project After Their “Verzuz”

Jim Jones says that Jadakiss missed a “hell of an opportunity” to drop a project after The LOX went head-to-head with Dipset on Verzuz in August 2021. Speaking with AllHipHopTV during a new interview, Jones explained that anything Jadakiss could’ve put out would’ve gone platinum.

“‘Kiss reaped a lot of benefits from the Verzuz, man,” Jones said in the discussion. “I mean, we all do things different and shit like that, but he had a hell of an opportunity to do a lot. I wish that he would have dropped a project at that time because it didn’t even matter what he would have put out in that window of time that he had. He could’ve just took eight records he had in the stash and just put them bitches out, that bitch was going platinum.”

From there, he added: “That was one thing I wish he would’ve did as me being a fan and me being a n***a in the industry. Like, ‘Yo, man, it’s a moment, he’s supposed to go. Next day, single out, everything. I’m in the studio right now with Swizz tonight, like n***a!’”

While he didn’t end up capitalizing on the moment to release new music, Jadakiss did put in work behind the scenes. Speaking to Complex in 2022, Jadakiss revealed that he used his leverage at the time to renegotiate his record contract with Def Jam. “My numbers went up for hostings and walkthroughs, for shows, and TV cameos,” he said at the time. “Just in general my numbers went up. It also showed Def Jam that they got to do the right thing [and] restructure my contract. It really showed the world my true worth, what I can do.” Last month, Jadakiss announced that he’s working on a new mixtape titled Kiss the South, but didn’t provide a release date.
