Iann Dior Showcases Some Solid Singing Chops On EP “BLIND”

Iann Dior burst onto the scene back at the start of the 2020’s with he and 24kGoldn’s smash hit “Mood.” The song is over 1.8 billion (!) streams since its release in 2021. While the young Puerto Rican artist still has a respectable 11 million plus monthlies on the platform, the hype around him does not feel as strong as it once did. It seems artists like him and 24k had their massive hit and then people left them behind sort of. However, iann dior is still churning out some solid material if you were not aware, like his new EP BLIND.

This six-song project quickly follows up his 2023 album leave me where you found me. Iann Dior is still rocking the pop punk, emo rap style that he became known for. However, BLIND is more of a foray into the pop sound than anything else. Its lead single “House On Fire” is a terrific start to the tape that climaxes instrumentally around the 2:00 mark.

Listen To BLIND By Iann Dior

In the press release for iann’s newest effort, the “Blind Intro” gives away the tape’s meaning and overall message. “They say we hide things that we’re scared to see, maybe you were that for me.” Most of the tracks here are about relationships and the other usual topics we have heard from him in years past. Even, though the lyrical evolution is not as substantial as some would probably like, iann has some great tracks here.

What are your thoughts on this brand-new EP, BLIND, by iann dior? Is this his best project ever, why or why not? What songs are you gravitating toward and why? Marv Won, Fatt Father, & Elzhi Rap With Conviction On “Measuring Stick”

The thing about rappers who come from areas of steel mills and industrial factories is that you know you are going to get music that embodies that lifestyle. Aggressive and gritty hip-hop gives listeners a sense of power to conquer anything life throws at them. Which makes sense, considering how tough being a blue-collar worker can be on a day-to-day basis. One artist in this hardcore hip-hop lane that comes across as authentic is Marv Won. The Detroit native is tough as nails anytime he hops on a beat. Today, we are covering Marv Won’s collaboration with Fatt Father and Elzhi called “Measuring Stick.”

This is a braggadocious track about being at the top of the rap game and being the example of greatness everyone else needs to meet. Marv Won and Fatt Father work together quite often and do so with ease. The reason for that is because both are in a rap posse called Fat Killahz. It consists of them and Bang Belushi, as well as King Gordy.

Erika De Casier Drops A Whole Vibe With “Still”

Multi-cultural R&B singer Erika de Casier is an extremely underrated artist in the R&B space. She has a serene and entrancing voice that can fit over pretty much any instrumental you throw her way. Born in Portugal to a Belgian mother, the soon-to-be 25-year-old artist is back with a new project that sees her attack that very challenge. Still is Erika de Casier’s first record since 2021’s Sensational.

She got this project out in late February, but we still wanted to give it a listen. We are sure glad we did, as there are plenty of fun and beautiful songs that add so much diversity to the tracklist. Speaking of which, there are 14 cuts to be heard on this one, making it her longest to date. Features include They Hate Change, Shygirl, and Blood Orange.

Listen To Still By Erika De Casier

As we mentioned, Erika is sensually singing on top of a wide range of instrumentals, many of which she had a hand in. Only herself, Natal Zaks, and Nick Leon are the producers on Still. That title may be a bit of an oxymoron, as Erika does not remain stuck with one type of production style. We highly encourage you check this one out ASAP.

What are your thoughts on this brand-new album, Still, by Erika de Casier? Is this her best project ever, why or why not? What songs are you gravitating toward and why? Who had the strongest feature performance and why? Is she the most underrated R&B artist going right now? ScHoolboy Q & Cardi B Bring Their Comebacks To Our New “Fire Emoji” Playlist Update: Stream

Welcome to March, whose quality as a hip-hop release month for 2024 is proven by our new Fire Emoji playlist update. We decided to round up the best of the best rap drops of the week, and leading the way is none other than ScHoolboy Q. The TDE MC released his first album in about five years, BLUE LIPS, and it’s got no shortage of tender, aggressive, and consistently compelling tracks. “oHio” featuring Freddie Gibbs, “THank god 4 me,” and “Pop” featuring Rico Nasty are all particularly hype and energetic cuts for you to check out. It stands as the best album to come out this week, and one of the year’s best so far.

Also on Fire Emoji is another comeback: the solo return of Cardi B with her new track, “Like What (Freestyle).” It’s a fiery set of bars over a classic Missy Elliot and Timbaland beat; what’s not to love ahead of the Bronx rapper’s next album? Speaking of new albums, though, we have to shout out That Mexican OT, who just released his latest full-length Texas Technician. The Moneybagg Yo-assisted “Twisting Fingers” is a Southern banger through and through, showing off a lot of chemistry and versatile flows.

Furthermore, we also wanted to point you to Meek Mill’s new EP HEATHENISM, on which “Giving Chanel” with Future is a particular standout. Thanks to a dramatic instrumental and relentless deliveries, it’s a pretty hard-hitting record with a grand feel. Another trunk-knocking release on Fire Emoji is Luh Tyler’s new single “Bad B***h“… what could it ever be about? Jokes aside, it’s a bass-heavy and fast-paced track with Tyler’s trademark nasal croons.

Meanwhile, as far as triumphant and evocative trap cuts, few ranked higher than 21 Lil Harold and BigXthaPlug’s “Gin & Juice.” Finally, we wanted to highlight Ransom, Harry Fraud, and Boldy James’ excellently lavish and lyrically evocative single, “Live from the Roxy.” Let us know what you favorite Fire Emoji release was this week -– and what else we missed, too. Check out the playlist above and stick around on HNHH for the latest great music drops around the clock.

Ghetts Has Tons Of Inspirational Messages Across “On Purpose, With Purpose”

Ghetts is here to deliver his long-awaited album On Purpose, With Purpose. The project had its rollout begin in the latter half of last year with a slew of singles. “Laps” with Moonchild Sanelly kicked things off on October 20. Then, the UK rapper would go on to release four more tracks over the next five months.

The last and only track we were able to sink our teeth into was “Double Standards” with Sampha. It was a great listen and tracks like this one show the intent behind On Purpose, With Purpose. In an interview with Apple Music, Ghetts shared some of the themes that are woven into the record. “To anyone who feels like they’re being overlooked, don’t have conversations with people about ‘It should be you.’ No, it shouldn’t. Don’t download the virus.”

Ghetts continues passionately, “‘It should be you’ is a virus if you take that upon yourself, you’re going to put out this energy of [being] underrated-now you become that. Your time comes when it’s meant to.” That powerful but honest message is very similar to the title of this LP. Ghetts is conveying to the listener that success happens when you move with a sense of purpose and go about things the right way, you will get your shine.

What are your thoughts on this brand-new album, On Purpose, With Purpose, by Ghetts? Is this his best project ever, why or why not? What songs are you gravitating toward and why? Stove God Cooks Is Stirring Up Some Heat On “Carbone” With Stoupe

A few weeks ago we were thoroughly impressed with Stove God Cooks’ single, “Melo Chip and a Brick.” The Babygrande affiliate rapped with conviction over a killer Conductor Williams with blaring horns. Our opinions on the track have been validated since then, as the track has crawled its way into the Syrcause spitter’s top five most popular songs on Spotify. Now, Stove God Cooks is back to feed us once again with a record called “Carbone.”

The producer tag teaming this effort with him this time is Stoupe. He too is from the Midwest, being a resident of Pennsylvania. The underground beat maker brings an instrumental that is a little more easy-going than “Melo Chip and a Brick.” However, it still sounds great in its simplicity.

Listen To “Carbone” By Stove God Cooks & Stoupe

“Carbone” sees Stove God Cooks absolutely cheffing up a hot dish of confidence with a side of swagger. They say they gettin’ money but they don’t look like I do (Don’t look like I do) / Ooh, I do (Woo), have ’em wrappin’ your head like Badu (Brr).” His flows on this track are excellent drawing out his “o’s” on the chorus while annunciating every word on the verse. You cannot ask for much more than for him to drop a new album!

What are your thoughts on this brand-new single, “Carbone,” by Stove God Cooks and Stoupe? Is this the better of the two tracks that he has released this year, why or why not? What is your favorite element of the song and why? Is about time for Stove God to drop a new project sometime this year? Sexyy Red Starts A Twitter Twerk Train, Teases New Music

Sexyy Red has been busy on social media as of late. In a pair of posts this week, the rapper riled up her fanbase in a number of ways. First Red began a “twerk thread”, encouraging fans to post their own twerking videos below hers. People responded ecstatically, quickly filling the replies with bouncing booty. However, Red also teased that she had new music on the way to get her musical 2024 underway.

Of course, Red twerking is nothing new. Last year, she joined the Penn State whiteout at Beaver Stadium. In a brief clip shared by Daily Loud, Red shakes her ass as the announcer hypes up the sold-out stadium. Adhering to the tradition of a whiteout game, Red had donned a white jacket and pants along with a blonde wig. While Red might be from St. Louis, it’s clear that she couldn’t resist hitting up the Nittany Lions for their annual event. With Red in attendance, Penn State shut out a hapless Iowa side 31-0.

Meanwhile, she also went viral for her NSFW baby shower antics. The rapper posed for photos at the hood-themed event with an unidentified man crouched behind her. The goal was to achieve a simulation of “a– eating”. “Mybad if my booty stank” 😂 #babyshowertings,” Red captioned the post. Red faced mixed reactions to the images, as her divisiveness continued to perpetuate.

Elsewhere, Red also posted some throwback beats on social media. “Yall ain’t know I made this too?” Red wrote on X along with a video of her vibing with a joint to her track “Slob on my Ckat”. The 2021 track is very much part of Red’s pre-breakout catalog. However, most people in her comments simply affirmed that they were indeed aware of the song. Previously, Red had reacted to images from her high school graduation going viral on social media.

That Mexican OT Recruits Fellow Lone Star Legends For “Texas Technician”

That Mexican OT has continued to impress us and fans over and over again ever since dropping one of the best underrated hits of 2023 “Johnny Dang.” That track with Paul Wall became such a favorite amongst the community that it helped his fellow Texas legend nab his first Hot 100 hit in 16 years. That information is all thanks to Stereogum. Now, That Mexican OT is back for more with his new mixtape Texas Technician.

This record quickly follows up his major label debut project from 2023 Lonestar Luchador. It also got the ChopNotSlop treatment a couple of months later. “02.02.99” saw OT whip out some violent bars and a bassy instrumental to get the year started off right. Veeze and LUCKI have been tearing things up lately in the rap game. Their idiosyncratic and mumbly styles have captivated fans as their legends continue to grow.
