JPEGMAFIA Re-Releases “The Ghost Pop Tape” Album In Original & Remastered Glory

JPEGMAFIA is one of the most creative, self-driven, skillful, and groundbreaking rappers, producers, performers, and sonic wizards in music today. While many readers may have first heard of him through his 2023 Danny Brown collab album, SCARING THE H*ES, he’s been releasing fantastic music for over a decade. Before we knew him as Peggy, he was Devon Hendryx, and around 2012 while he was living in Japan, he was in a dark headspace. Out of that struggle, but also incredible spirit and talent, he released The Ghost Pop Tape in 2013, which went unnoticed at the time of its release. Ten years later, though, it’s a fan-favorite amongst the Baltimore artist’s listener base, and he just re-released the project in its original form and remastered it almost entirely to celebrate its place in his catalog.

Moreover, JPEGMAFIA made it clear via social media that this is not meant to be taken as a new project or simple anniversary reissue to get cash, but as a treat to the fans who hold this among other LPs like… well, LP!. As such, this is the perfect chance for you to dive in if you haven’t already. Furthermore, it’s another wildly different example of his unique production approach that is lo-fi but nonetheless enveloping, atmospheric, and moodier than his more recent output. This takes more inspiration from R&B and vaporwave-style sounds and shows that the 34-year-old is just as good at subtlety as he is at larger-than-life bombast. Above all, only he could make The Ghost Pop Tape, and that idiosyncrasy is a rare feat in hip-hop these days.

Lil B’s Catalog Continues To Grow Catalog With “B-Unit”

Lil B continues to feed his fans more and more music. This time it is for his newest mixtape B-Unit. It comes off the heels of his June 2023 release B***h Mob tha Album which was 21 songs and over an hour long. Before that, he got more jazzy on Afriknatis.

The prolific rapper from Berkeley, California is a controversial figure in hip-hop and has been for quite some time. Furthermore, the “BasedGod curse” in sports also adds to the odd mystique of the soon-to-be 34-year-old rapper. With a style like none other, he is always going to be unpredictable. You can love him or hate him, but he will still pump out music.

Cam’ron Announces New Mixtape & Hints At A Mase Collaboration

Cam’ron says that he’s dropping a new mixtape on Friday, July 28. In an Instagram post on Sunday, the Dipset rapper teased a song from the project and hinted at having a collaboration with Mase on it.

“Just warming up. @itiswhatitis_talk mixtape July 28…,” he captioned the snippet. “#IIWII the new DEATHROW[.] WELCOME TO THE ROW N-GGA[.] We just got to summer leauge too!! Vegas we here!!! And by da way the old MURDA BACK!!!! @rsvpmase.”

As for the unreleased song, Cam’ron played the preview while recording himself in his car. “No gossiping, I don’t deal with side talk/ I don’t look for spots, man, I park on the sidewalk/ I told the cop, ‘I don’t care, I like to risk it/ I’ll have another car here before you write the ticket,’” he raps.

The announcement of new music comes after Cam’ron recently launched his sports talk show, It Is What It Is. While discussing the show with Good Day New York back in May, Cam’ron hinted that it could mark a shifting of his focus away from music. “So look, Hip Hop is 50 years old and I’ve been doing this [25 years], so if you don’t reinvent yourself, you’ll be looking at a 1997 Cam’ron,” he said at the time. “I’m like, ‘I love sports and I need to be on television.’ People always offer me things to do on television. So I’m like, ‘Let me create my own show, not somebody giving me a show, and see how it goes.”

Mase also serves as a co-host on It Is What It Is, something Cam also touched on during the Good Day New York discussion. He explained: “Mase got me my first record deal, ever. So doing this show and creating this show and having him be a part of it, it felt like I’m giving back to him for helping me even be an entertainer. I may not have been where I’m at if [Mase] didn’t take me to Biggie Smalls [The Notorious B.I.G.] and get me my first record deal… I wanted to pay him back, and hopefully, this show will do that.”

Never Broke Again Team Up For New Mixtape “Green Flag Activity, Vol. 2”

NBA YoungBoy is one of the leaders of the new movement, and his label Never Broke Again is expanding to greater heights as a result. Moreover, the Baton Rogue label just released Never Broke Again Presents: Green Flag Activity, Vol. 2, their latest since last year’s October release Nightmare ON 38th ST. This new project involves all the names you’d expect: Lil Dump, Quando Rondo, Rojay MLP, and many more. Not only that, but if you’re a YB fan and you haven’t checked out the rest of his label, you have a treasure trove to discover. A lot of this album focuses on the hard-hitting, bell-heavy, and aggressive beats and deliveries that the MC exemplifies so well.

Of course, with a wide array of about ten rhymers on display, the tracklist’s size definitely hints at this being a hodgepodge. Across 18 tracks, Never Broke Again shows off each member with ease. No one overstays their welcome; if anything, some big names like YoungBoy himself could’ve popped up more. That being said, it’s not his time to shine, and members like WHOGANGDEE make a name for themselves within this collective.

Lil Uzi Vert Teases “The Pink Tape”

Uzi has been teasing The Pink Tape for years at this point, although their updates have gotten more frequent in recent months. In March, Uzi revealed to TMZ that they were sober for the recording of the project. “It was challenging at first. But then after probably after a month, I got used to it,” Uzi said. “I thought that my creative process wasn’t going to be the same because I wasn’t on drugs no more. It was the same. Even better. Because I could think more clear and I could actually, like, instead of my words slurring, which is kinda of cool, everything made sense. I didn’t just make random music. How can I say? I didn’t play off the beat. I actually made song with topics this time.”

Sexyy Red Drops New Album, “Hood Hottest Princess”

Following a recent breakout moment for the St. Louis rapper Sexyy Red has delivered her biggest project to date. Hood Hottest Princess follows her formula of hard-hitting sex-positive bangers. The album was preceded by three singles starting with “Born By The River” last year. The album’s closing track “Female Gucci Mane” was first dropped as a single earlier this year. Her next single “Pound Town” featuring Tay Keith became her biggest hit yet. The song went from hit to smash when Nicki Minaj joined for a remix on “Pound Town 2.”

The track dropped just a few weeks ago and has already racked up millions of streams. The track debuted at #66 on the Hot 100 after its first week out. It marked Sexyy Red’s first entry on the Hot 100 for one of her own songs. Elsewhere on the album are even more high-profile features. The track “Strictly For The Strippers” features both Juicy J and ATL Jacob. Though the project is just over 30 minutes it is packed full of hard-hitting lyrics and beats. What’s even more attention-grabbing is Sexyy Red’s uncompromising personality and rapping.

Sexyy Red Brings The Bangers

Hood Hottest Princess is Sexyy Red’s first new project since 2021’s Ghetto Superstar. She released that record independently but her new project is released via Open Shift. Sexyy Red has had a busy year even outside of her own music. She appeared on NLE Choppa’s hit song “SLUT ME OUT” earlier this year. In the song, she brought the same sexually charged intensity to that track and the accompanying music video.

She also joined fellow breakout star Kali on a remix of her hit song “Area Codes.” The “314 Remix” saw the two rappers linking up for a series of slick and confident rhymes. Let us know what you think about Sexyy Red’s new project in the comment section below.

Moneybagg Yo Announces Another Album Coming This Year

As he announced his next mixtape Hard To Love: Heartless Edition, maybe some Moneybagg Yo fans missed an even bigger announcement. Not only is that project dropping on May 26, but he has another album on the way, as well. “When I looked at all the songs I had made during that period, it was wayyy too many to be considered one album,” he wrote in Hard To Love‘s reveal statement. “So that’s when I decided to drop a Tape and [an] Album.” While we still don’t know when that album will be coming this year, at least the hype is there.

Unfortunately, these new drops came after a heavy and hard time for the 31-year-old. “While I was wrapping up the album I was hit with a tragedy that will affect my kids and me forever,” Moneybagg Yo wrote in his statement. “Stack that on top of losing Nuskie my right hand man to the streets. Then my left hand man to the Feds, it was loss after loss in my eyes. While the rest of the world was still moving on, they still wanted shows, features, and music. Regardless of what I’m going through personally.”

Moneybagg Yo Reveals Another Album On The Way

Still, the “Motion God” rhymer is keeping his head up amid the storm. In his statement, he spoke on the meaning of his next mixtape Hard To Love. “When I came up with the title, I was referring to myself,” Moneybagg Yo shared. “But when I started working more on the project I realized that it’s more than me being hard to love. It’s hard to love people because a lot of them don’t have good intentions, just want something from u.

“It’s hard to love your life when the same people that you sacrifice everything for don’t even get to enjoy the rewards with you,” he continued. “Through it all my biggest source of strength is my fans. I appreciate all of y’all equally if you got on me from the 1st ‘Federal’ or ‘A Gangsta’s Pain’. With all that being said I got a story to tell, not looking for sympathy I just want to be understood.” For more news and the latest updates on Moneybagg Yo, come back to HNHH.

NBA YoungBoy To Drop Mixtape On Same Day As Lil Durk

NBA YoungBoy is reportedly dropping a new mixtape on Friday, the same day that Lil Durk intends to release his new album, Almost Healed. The news was confirmed on social media, earlier this week. The two releases come after YoungBoy and Durk confirmed that they’re still feuding, despite DJ Akademiks claiming otherwise.

“That beef is squashed. You ain’t hear?” the Off the Record podcast host said during a stream last Thursday. “I’m serious. Durk and YoungBoy don’t have beef no more.” Both artists shot down the report on social media. Durk wrote on his IG Story: “I ain’t friends with no n****s [unamused face emoji] stop it.” YoungBoy posted his @BAEHELPTOP handle, “Ak you a bitch along with his industry friends I love this shit it turn out the same way every time.”

Akademiks later clarified his remarks in an Instagram comment. “Lol I ain’t say that,” he wrote. “I mean they ain’t actively dissing each other no more in music and tweets anything y’all see is more than likely directed at other ppl instead of each other.” The two have been opening beef since trading shots on the release of multiple diss tracks, last year. While things appeared to be simmering down for a while, the simultaneous release of new projects may reignite the feud.

As for what fans can expect from Durk’s Almost Healed, he told XXL that he’s focused on “Growth,” with the project. He spoke with the outlet for a cover story, earlier this year. At the time, he was titling the project, The Voice 2.0. “That’s what the 2.0 stand for, just be on another level,” he said. “Just not only music-wise, like the things around me like I told you, growing from the friends around me, management. Sitting with the mayor. We doin’ big charity things. Neighborhood Heroes, the foundation I got.”
