Megan Thee Stallion Hints At Cardi B Collaborative EP & Tour

Megan Thee Stallion says that she has considered the idea of dropping a collaborative EP with Cardi B and would even be down to tour together. She discussed the possibility during an interview with Complex published on Tuesday.

“I literally think that’s the route that we’re going,” she began. “So I’ve done two songs for her. And now I feel like I’m in a space where I know exactly what songs I want her to do for me. So we’re really building a little EP already. We’re gonna have enough music that we need to go on tour together. Me and [Cardi] going out together will be so amazing. We are already so cool. And I feel like we got similar fans. So if she wanted to do a little EP, I would definitely be so down to do that, but we are making enough music to already have that.”

Megan and Cardi most recently worked on the single, “Bongos,” which they performed together at the MTV Video Music Awards, last week. They also dropped one of the biggest songs of 2020, “WAP.”

Megan also spoke more broadly about the new music that she’s working on. Echoing similar comments she made while speaking with ET for a separate interview, she described herself as entering a “new chapter.” “I’m making music that I really, really love,” she said. “I’m making music that I’m not about to have to fight with anybody about. But with this album, I feel like I’m getting to the meat. I’m getting to the bones. It’s my story, and I’m telling it. I’m so excited because it’s just turning the page into like this new chapter of my life and I feel like the Hotties are gonna be so excited to hear it.”

Little Brother Releases Two-Track EP “Wish Me Well / Glory Glory”

Durham, North Carolina rap duo, Little Brother, has just made a triumphant return. In fact, it has been four years since the release of any new material. The last time we got music from Phonte and Big Pooh was back on August 20, 2019. It came in the form of an album called, May the Lord Watch. It was a 15-track 37-minute-long project with no features. After that, we have not heard anything from them.

However, the legendary East Coast group is having a little celebration coming up next month. The special occasion is for their debut album which has now been out for two decades. They felt it was only right to throw a block party for one day on October 7. Little Brother announced this back on August 8 on their Instagram. The name if the event is “Made In Durham: A Little Brother Block Party.” Some special guests will also be a part of this full-circle moment, including Big K.R.I.T.

To build more hype for this anniversary party, they decided to release some new songs as well. It is a two-pack EP that features songs “Wish Me Well” and “Glory Glory.” The fans have been digging the tracks so far and some are hoping this is a sign for a new album. One person underneath their IG post for the songs, says, “Please let this be the warning shot for another LB album.” Either way, Little Brother should bring out quite the crowd, especially with these two songs receiving so much praise.

Canadian rapper, KILLY has had a little bit of an unheralded career up until this point. It has been a busy year to say the least for Brooklyn’s own, Ransom. The storied career of this hip-hop artist will go down as one that is iconic but also underappreciated. A true wordsmith and intimidating MC, Ransom has been pumping quality since the late 2000s. Already this year, the prolific rapper has put out two EPs and an album to boot.

The first of which was the LP, Directors Cut 4. It featured artists such as Nicholas Craven, Che Noir, Tali Kweli, and more. Then, after that, only a couple of weeks went by before we were delightedly treated to Ransom’s first EP of the year with Deleted Scenes 2. That was a full collab effort with Nicholas Craven in the booth. The song titles were cleverly named after movie titles of different genres.

D4VD Quickly Follows Up His First EP With “The Lost Petals”

Billie Eilish is clearly the most well-known artist that is with Darkroom right now. However, that might not be for too much longer because d4vd is coming in hot. The indie rock and R&B artist is making massive waves already with his unique and somber voice. So much so, that his most popular song, “Here With Me,” is already up to over 700 million plus streams! To put that in perspective the song is off of his first-ever EP, Petals to Thorns, which was released on May 26, 2023. That is only three and a half months roughly of the song being out.

It is an incredible feat for the 18-year-old to say the least and he is only going up from here. Smoke DZA And Flying Lotus Might Have An EP Of The Year Contender With “Flying Objects”

Smoke DZA and Flying Lotus are truly a match made in heaven. The duo has just released their first collaborative project together with their brand new EP. Flying Objects is one of the best, if not the best EPs of 2023 and we are about to break down why. Firstly though, let us give you the basic information and some background on it. Flying Objects is five tracks that equal a runtime of 14 minutes and 14 seconds. DZA brings on features from some heavy hitters in this quick effort. Conway the Machine, Black Thought, and Estelle appear in songs two, four, and five.

Furthermore, all of the production is handled by legendary Los Angeles producer, Flying Lotus. He brings elements of trap, cloud rap, boom-bap, and R&B. Finally, there were two singles for the promotion of this EP. “Drug Trade” with Black Thought and “Harlem World 97” with Estelle were both released in the past two months. Now, why is this EP so good? Well, both DZA and Lotus complement each other’s styles so well. The hazy, laid-back, and euphoric production along with the lyrics about dope, money, and being the man, is the perfect unison.

Perhaps the best song on the EP, “Drug Trade” featuring Black Thought, has it all. The woozy flow from DZA, the drums and whimsical synths from Lotus, and the lyrical talent from Thought form a truly special song. It is really sad that the duo does not have a full album together. While they might not be the names you immediately mention, you cannot deny they are bringing a unique flavor.

The Sixtape series is known for its earworm hooks and effortless flows over trap and R&B beats. That trend continues here in the third installment. Blxst and Bino Rideaux make it look easy, especially on songs like “Doin Yo Stuff.” It is the ultimate love-making song with bouncy West Coast influence in its production and auto-tune-laced vocals. The melody that Blxst and Bino provide here is so smooth and effortless.

The R&B hits continue on the following track “Get Away.” It is another love cut but this one possesses more emotional weight that shows both artists missing their partners. Their love for them is so strong that it is hard to function when they are not around. (Get away).” Overall, it should please their fanbases with the familiar vibes Sixtape 3 displays. Both artists continue to impress with their seamless connection on every track they hop on.

LAYA Returns With Enticing 7-Track EP “Bet That”

LAYA is an artist who has been on the rise over these past couple of years. Back in 2021, she gave us her Um, Hello EP which had a feature from New York superstar Fivio Foreign. From there, she went viral with a couple of singles such as “Sailor Moon 2.0” and “Need 2 Know.” With these tracks, the artist has been able to show tremendous range as she delves into various genres with ease. It’s clear she can do it all, whether that entails rapped passages or some incredibly sung vocals.

Fans have been waiting for her next move, and on Friday, she blessed those supporters with a seven-track EP called “Bet That.” This short but sweet EP provides fans with a glimpse of the various genres she operates within. For instance, on the opening track “Bet That,” we get some incredible guitar work that crescendos into a full-blown solo at the end. In the midst of this, LAYA makes her presence felt all throughout the track, ultimately setting the tone for the rest of the EP.

LAYA Drops A Dope Collection Of Tracks

Songs like “F’d Up” and “Psycho Bitch” are further examples of what LAYA is able to do. On the latter, we get these funky basslines all while the artist gives us these psychedelic vocal lines that feel like you’re on some sort of acid trip. Its an experimental cut that makes us want the artist to give us a full-length psych-rock experience. If you are not familiar with the singer, than this album is a great way to build some familiarity. Hopefully, a full album is on the horizon.
