03 Greedo Delivers His First Post-Prison Album “Halfway There”

The West Coast legend 03 Greedo returned home this year. The rapper began serving a 20-year sentence over four years ago on guns and drug charges. At the time, 03 Greedo was beginning to come into his own with projects like God Level as he helped redefine the West Coast in the post-YG era. Unfortunately, his numerous attempts for parole were denied until earlier this year, though he wasn’t entirely free just yet.

The rapper was released to a halfway house where he’ll have to be for up to 6 months and is only allowed a five-minute phone call each week. He continues to half a battle in front of himself until he’s fully out but he’s made the most of his time. “Where I am I just want to see my daughter and record music,” he said. “I wish I could have released alot more music while I was away. So, I have this chip on my shoulder to just go record n drop at least 12 tapes before my major album and I honestly just don’t want to talk to alot of people yet. I got a lot I want to clear in my head first.”

03 Greedo Makes His Comeback On “Halfway There”

Though he’s not entirely free, he remains optimistic in the face of adversity. The rapper came through this week with the release of his new project, Halfway There. Consisting of 33 songs in total with a runtime of over an hour and a half, 03 Greedo certainly has plenty of things he wanted to get off of his chest. The project boasts production from BIGHEAD, Lex Luger, Sledgren, Harry Fraud, and plenty of others.

Ahead of the project’s release, 03 Greedo unveiled singles like “Bacc Like I Never Left” and “Buss Me Script,” ft. Maxo Kream. Though there isn’t an overwhelming amount of features, Halfway There include appearances from Babyface Ray, Rich The Kid, Ty Dolla $ign, Skilla Baby, and Peso Peso. From top to bottom, 03 Greedo reminds fans of his consistency and prolificacy without missing a beat across Halfway There. Check the project out above and sound off with your thoughts in the comments.

Danny Brown & JPEGMAFIA Let Loose On “Scaring The Hoes”

When you think about some of the more unique artists in hip-hop, Danny Brown & JPEGMAFIA should immediately come to mind. Firstly, Danny Brown is known for making some incredibly dark music. Moreover, his voice is a cut above the rest, and fans have grown to love his delivery. Secondly, JPEGMAFIA is someone who can operate within numerous genres. Additionally, his production is glitchy and abrasive, but also melodic in a way that you wouldn’t expect.

Recently, these two announced that they would be dropping a collaborative project together. Ultimately, fans of these two were extremely excited. There is quite a bit of overlap between these fanbases, so it only made sense for them to link up. As for the project, they both decided to take a self-aware approach to the name. Once Danny Brown & JPEGMAFIA revealed that they would call the album Scaring The Hoes, the fans collectively said: “Yup, that makes sense.”

Danny Brown & JPEGMAFIA Are Truly Unique

Immediately upon listening to this album, you are going to get hit with a barrage of interesting beats and melodies. On the first track “Lean Beef Patty,” both artists trade bars over horns, glitchy 808s, and some faint soul samples. From there, you get tracks like “Garbage Pale Kids” that have more of a metal vibe. Furthermore, it should be noted that the names of these songs lend themselves well to the auditory aesthetics. When you see a song called “Fentanyl Tester,” you know you are in for a trip.

Overall, this album is not going to be for everyone. However, if you are into this time of music, then this is going to be one of the best projects of the year. Let us know what you think of Scaring The Hoes, in the comments down below. Additionally, stay tuned to HNHH for more news and updates from around the music world.

6LACK Drops Gorgeous New Project “Since I Have A Lover”

6LACK is certainly one of the best voices in R&B. Unfortunately, in the eyes of fans, he hasn’t been dropping enough music. Although he did come through with an EP a while back, his last full-length project was East Atlanta Love Letter in 2018. Overall, it has been close to five years since fans have gotten an LP from the artist. Now, however, 6LACK is back with perhaps his most personal project yet. Yes, that is correct. Since I Have A Lover is finally here, and it is most definitely a glorious undertaking at 19 tracks in length.

Over the course of the last few months, 6LACK has been teasing the release of this new album with various singles. The title track “Since I Have A Lover” and “Talkback” have proven to be absolute musts for any R&B playlist. In fact, the former of these two tracks has a unique indie rock feel to it as we get delicate yet shimmery guitars. It’s a nice departure from the brooding and dark R&B tracks that 6LACK came onto the scene with.

6LACK Demonstrates Growth With His New Body Of Work

These unique production choices can be found all throughout the 59-minute runtime. Consequently, this makes for a diverse album that has a little something for everyone. Additionally, it is clear that 6LACK has been doing a lot of growing as an artist. He is currently on a healing journey and is actively trying to be a better partner. These themes are all throughout the project and it makes for a refreshing listen.

Overall, 6LACK has knocked it out of the park with this new project. While day-one fans might need to get used to this new direction, they will most definitely come around. As always, give us your thoughts on this project, in the comments below. Additionally, stay tuned to HNHH for more news and updates from the hip-hop world.

03 Greedo & Maxo Kream Team Up On “Buss Me A Script”

03 Greedo’s home and he’s wasting no time getting back into the mix. The West Coast rapper returned last week with the release of “Bacc Like I Never Left,” his first post-prison release. Though he didn’t go the “First Day Home” route, his latest single sounded like he didn’t miss a beat during his incarceration. How could he? The rapper continued to keep fans satisfied with a slew of projects including January’s Free 03.

Though 03 Greedo already amassed a massive catalog of unreleased music, he’s back in the booth recording fresh new tracks. After he was granted parole in January, he was released to a halfway house where he was putting in work. “Where I am I just want to see my daughter and record music,” 03 Greedo said in a statement via Instagram “I wish I could have released alot more music while I was away. So, I have this chip on my shoulder to just go record n drop at least 12 tapes before my major album and I honestly just don’t want to talk to alot of people yet. I got a lot I want to clear in my head first.”

03 Greedo & Maxo Kream Make The Cali-Texas Connection On New Collab

It’s been a while since Maxo Kream and 03 Greedo connected on wax but they’re back at it again this week with “Buss Me A Script.” This time, Greedo turns down the auto-tune while flexing his various flows with a touch of urgency to his delivery. 03 Greedo kicks things off, reflecting on his cash flow and celebrating their status. Meanwhile, Maxo Kream’s smooth, laidback flow comes through on the second verse for an incredible pairing.

The latest single from Maxo Kream and 03 Greedo, who previously worked together on “Beg Your Pardon,” is expected to land on Greedo’s upcoming album, Halfway There. The rapper’s upcoming project includes 33 songs in total with features from Ty Dolla $igh, Babyface Ray, and Peewee Longway, among others. It will also include production from Harry Fraud, Lex Luger, and more. Check the new single above.

Desiigner Taps A Boogie Wit Da Hoodie For “PMR”

Desiigner’s prepared for a major comeback, and this time, he brought along A Boogie Wit Da Hoodie with him. The Brooklyn-bred star came through with his latest single this week titled, “PMR.” With assistance from A Boogie, he provides a spacey banger that describes the good life. Desiigner and A Boogie’s short collab find them reflecting on sex, drugs, and rap as they reap the benefits of fame. While A Boogie brings out a calmer version of Desiigner, the “Panda” rapper pulls out high energy from the Highbridge rapper.

Desiigner’s slowly gearing up to make his official comeback to the rap game. Last year, the rapper began sharing a slew of singles in anticipation of his next project, which seems like it’ll have some solid collaborations on it at this point. Prior to releasing “Bigger and Bigger,” he teamed up with Rae Sremmurd’s Slim Jxmmi for their joint effort, “Kilo.” Prior to that, he dropped off “My Brodie” and “Star In The Room” within weeks of each other.

Desiigner Ramps Up For New Album

We caught up with Desiigner in late 2022 following the release of “Bigger And Bigger.” The rapper confirmed his next project will be titled, New Color, and expects to drop it sometime this year. “New Color. The new album’s called New Color. I’m working on it right now. It’s fire,” he said at the time, though he confirmed that it was still a work in progress. “I got some features on it already. It’s lit. I’m just putting it together. Shout out to a couple of great producers, like Rich Skillz, ATL [Jacob]. You know what I’m saying, people like that.”

The upcoming projet from Desiigner will mark an interesting return to the fold following his departure from G.O.O.D Music. The former Ye protegé called out the label in the past and made it clear that he wasn’t happy how things panned out, despite giving Yeezy one of his biggest songs. New Colors will certainly be one of those make-or-break moments but “PMR” is a strong indication that he’ll have a grip on the clubs.

Dave East Says J. Cole’s Advice Helped Improve His Next Album

Dave East has credited J. Cole for giving him key advice that has improved his upcoming album. Speaking with HipHopDX at the 2023 Grammy Awards, East explained how working with the Fayetteville, North Carolina rapper impacted his recording process.

“I took a lot from that,” he said. “Just his whole energy, you know what I mean? For him to be who he is at the level he’s at and give me that game like that, give me that little bit of advice just to help my own shit out.” He added: “I definitely apply it to what I got going on. My new album, you definitely going to hear some of that in there. But yeah, big shout out to J. Cole.”

The Grammys’ red carpet isn’t the first time East has spoken about learning from J. Cole. He also discussed the rapper’s impact during an interview with Apple Music‘s Ebro Darden in 2021. “I got a chance to lock in with J. Cole, just me and him in the studio with the engineer,” he said at the time.

He added: “And he asked that same question, like, ‘Bro, I’m a fan of what you do, I really respect your pen, but you rap with one tone.’ And I really sat and listened to myself, and a lot of my shit is one tone. Me and him in the studio testing tones. He’s just really seeing how high I can take my voice, how low I can take it, and then he just was like, ‘Apply that to your music. Watch the difference.’ That’s just something I gotta keep working at, keep working at. I think it will be something dope to add to my music.”

East released his debut studio album, Survival, in 2019 with features from Rick Ross, Lil Baby, Gunna, Fabolous, DJ Premier, and more. In the years since, he’s worked on several EPs and mixtapes while also focusing on his acting career. He currently stars in Wu Tang: An American Saga.

“Lil Pump 2” Album: Rapper Collabs With NBA YoungBoy, Ty Dolla $ign, And More

Gucci Gang rapper Lil Pump released his long-awaited third studio album, Lil Pump 2 this weekend. The project features the high-energy trap music that the rapper is known for, along with a few surprises. Among them is “Pump Rock x Heavy Metal,” a rock song that features metal elements. There are also guest appearances from artists like YoungBoy Never Broke Again, Rio Da Yung OG, Smokepurpp, Ty Dolla Sign, and G4 Boyz. The new release speaks about the subjects you’d expect from Pump: drugs, women, money, and guns.

Musically, LP2 is similar to his previous work as most of the songs have a catchy hook, a heavy, hard-hitting baseline, and strong 808s. It’s worth noting that this project, like his past releases, has its high and low moments. “I Don’t Mind” featuring YoungBoy Never Broke Again is widely considered one of the best songs on the album, while the aforementioned “Pump Rock x Heavy Metal” was met with more trepidation. Thus far, the reception to Lil Pump 2 has been mixed. While some fans are enjoying the 16-track effort, others feel like it’s more hit or miss.

Lil Pump 2 is Here

Lil Pump has been working on this album since 2019, completely dedicating himself to the follow-up to his 2017 self-titled project. In 2022 the artist made a since-deleted Instagram post hinting at LP2‘s existence. At the time he teased, “’Lil Pump 2’ is a masterpiece I can’t wait for you guys to hear it.”

Additionally, the 22-year-old made reference to it in an interview with Inked Magazine last year, claiming that the album would be released in August 2022. He said, “Yessirski! It’s dropping in August around my birthday. It’s about to be crazy. This is gonna be a masterpiece.” Lil Pump 2 is a solid reminder to the public of who he is and what he’s capable of. Will you be tuning in? Let us know in the comments below.

Statik Selektah Drops “Unpredictable” New Song Featuring Method Man, Raekwon, And Ghostface Killah

Statik Selektah is back on the scene this weekend, and he brought Ghostface Killah and Raekwon with him. Titled “Unpredictable,” his new song reunites the Wu-Tang Clan as they channel old-school vibes that have everyone buzzing. Born Patrick Baril, the producer has been active in the music industry since the early 2000s. Even in 2023, he certainly shows no signs of slowing down. Statik has worked with some of the biggest names in the hip-hop world and is known for his traditionalist approach to hip-hop production. This style incorporates classic sounds and samples and can be clearly heard in “Unpredictable.”

As they came up in Staten Island in the 1990s, Wu-Tang Clan asserted themselves as an obvious influence on the music industry. Because of Selektah’s music style, fans are finding the collaboration to be an old-school dream come true. The opening lyrics set the tone for the next three minutes, “Cashmere pea coat/Fella caught a fortune off a c note/Wiggin’ out I’m giving out free smoke/Hater love to doubt Ace.”

Statik Selektah Brings the Wu- Tang Clan Back into the Spotlight

Each member of the Clan gets their own verse, as they delve into explaining what makes each of them so “Unpredictable.” The legendary creatives prove that their quick wit and mic skills are still ahead of the game. Their throwback style matches that of their initial albums from the ’90s, surely bringing back a sense of nostalgia to long-time fans. However, there is still definitely a modern approach to the track that will draw in new listeners.

“Unpredictable” is only a precursor for Statik Selektah’s upcoming project, Round Trip. If the rest of the album is as good as the latest single, then fans can expect an amazing drop. Unfortunately, no official release date has been set yet. Make sure to check back later for any updates on the producer’s forthcoming work.

Quotable Lyrics:

In spite of all my gold they tried to shut down
I’m still worth millies on the bustdown
So savage, total my average that’s GOAT status
Addicts fiending for these lines, that’s a coke habit

Who Is Yeat? Everything About The Rapper

If you have been on TikTok lately, you have probably heard of a rapper named Yeat. Noah Olivier Smith, or Yeat, is a rapper, singer-songwriter, and record producer.

Born on February 26, 2000, Yeat has gained popularity in such a short time. Born from a Romanian descent mom and a Mexican dad, Yeat has been making music since 2016.

Yeat’s Inspiration

Yeat’s dad was also a musician; when he was, it was said that there were guitars and pianos all around the house. However, he didn’t take a passion for playing instruments but later developed a love for making his own music.

As he grew up, Yeat started to gain some musical influence, which included some huge artists. Those artists were Young Thug and Future, but there was one more that Yeat’s mother actually put him on. His most significant influence was T-Pain.

In an interview with Our Generation Music, Yeat said, “I feel like that’s why I be singing and shit. I don’t be singing, but I feel like that’s where I got that inspiration from.” “He’s really the GOAT of Auto-Tune.”

The Beginning Of His Music

Since the late 2016s and early 2017s, it was revealed that Yeat has been putting out music since those times. However, most of them consisted of singles and a few Eps.

He has attributed that his early drug use was the reason that helped him get into music. It was also the factor that made him think of his stage name. But then, he did LSD, which stimulated his mind to think differently, and he made up his name while he was high.

“I really think it helped open my mind and think about shit differently. It didn’t make me rap, but it kind of gave me the idea, like, I could just do whatever I put my mind to.”

“I’m not going to lie, it was really like some high shit,” he said during an interview with Our Generation Music. “I just wanted to do something like one word, and just make it simple and kind of relatable. People hear my name, they feel like they already heard of me.” For a while, he was known as Lil Yeat, but he eventually dropped the “Lil.”

His Style

As Yeat progressed in his music career, he wanted to find something that was unique to him. That’s why he started to make up his own language in his raps. He briefly explains its origins, saying, “It started when I was out in New York.”

In his songs, you can hear many different words that no one can recognize, but they all have a meaning that Yeat has created. Some of these words are “Twizzy,” “luh geeky,” “SHMUNKIT,” etc. Afterward, he explains how he took this after his dad said, “I think I got it from my dad because he be making up words for shit all the time,” he said. “So I just do that.”

Furthermore, he explained how he doesn’t think his style fits into a class or box. Instead, it is all about adaptability, and that’s why Young Thug and Future inspired him because of them experimenting with different sounds.

“I feel like my style isn’t really set on one thing,” he explains. “I be having mad different vibes, mad different styles. The way I even my voice on different songs, I feel like I got that from listening to a lot of Thug shit.”

TikTok

As stated earlier, a lot of people discovered Yeat through TikTok. A couple of his songs became huge on the platform and were the sound everyone used in their video. Another significant aspect of his music is the famous bell that can be heard in the instrumental.

His song “Sorry Bout That” and “Talk” were Yeat’s two most used sounds. In addition, “Sorry Bout That” was his breakout song for him. The 2021 single was from his “4L” project and is currently his most viral song to date.

This is what he had to say about that single “spur-of-the-moment.” “I really just be living my raps, and be talking about whatever I’m going through at the moment. All my music is like that. It’s just about whatever is on my mind. I don’t be writing or none of that.”

YouTube

Music director Cole Bennett became involved as his popularity grew and helped Yeat skyrocket his career by producing a music video for him. If you know anything about Lyrical Lemonade, then you know they always help out growing musicians.

Currently, with “Out thë way,” “Poppin,” and “Still Countin” on the Lyrical Lemonade channel, they all accumulate to 47.7 million views.

Cole Bennett spoke briefly about Yeat and said, “Yeat is the breakout artist of the year” back in 2022.

Now

Yeat, in the past couple of years, has dropped seven albums since 2021, which was the start of his popularity. These albums include, “Aftërlyfe,” “Lyfë,” “2 Alivë (Gëëk Pack)“, “2 Alivë“, “Up 2 Më“, “4L“, and “Alivë.”

He has also been meant with a lot of praise from the generational artist. These include Drake, the Weeknd, Lil Yachty, Lil Uzi Vert, Gunna, Young Thug, and more.

Yeat continues to push out music as he just released his most recent album, “Aftërlyfe,” on February 24, 2023. Be on the lookout for more of Yeat, as his label boss Zack Bia had this to say about him on Complex,

“Yeat is an all-around “visionary artist.” “in terms of creating a whole lingo, having a very unique style of music, and building a whole world around it.” “He’s created something so unique that people can really buy into, so I don’t want to take credit for any of it. It’s all Yeat, and I’m just here to plug in the plays behind the scenes, and help facilitate all the relationships. I’m here to make sure the music is packaged right and handle all the things that a label executive should.”

Rory Taps Jay Electronica & Reggie For New Single “Enough”

Rory Farrell made his name through his takes and dry humor on The Joe Budden podcast alongside Mal, though he’s expanding his wings beyond media. This week, the podcast host and manager of Emotional Oranges delivered his second single, “Enough” ft. Jay Electronica and Reggie. His R&B sensibilities take front and center as Reggie’s soothing vocals strike across the record with hazy melodies. As he reminisces about heartbreak and failed relationships, Jay Elec comes through with a verse to seal the deal. Elec’s vivid lyricism digs deep into the emotional weight of failed relationships with sharp wordplay.

The visualizer for Rory’s new single also showcases his acting chops. As Jay Elec and Reggie deliver a smooth jam dedicated to emotional wounds, Rory finds himself in his ex’s home, reminiscing about the good times. He dances with their dog while pouring himself a glass of wine. Eventually, his ex and her new man enter the room as he’s catching a vibe, leading to peak awkwardness. However, Rory eventually wakes up in a bathtub fully clothed, only to realize that it was just a dream.

Jay Electronica & Reggie Flesh Out Rory Farrell’s Artistic Vision

Rory Farrell’s latest effort comes after unloading his debut single, “I Want You But You’ll Never Know” featuring Shelley fka Dram and Alex Isley. The smooth record kicked off the campaign for his forthcoming debut album back in July, though he hasn’t provided an update on it yet. Still, subsequent releases including “Don’t Go” ft. Pink $weats and Sinhead Harnett, a fleshed-out thematic statement that will be apparent on Rory’s upcoming album.

“So much of this album came from conversations we was just having in the studio,” Rory said on a video from his YouTube page. “It wasn’t really like writing sessions where it was like, ‘Alright let’s just fuckin’ sit and do topics.’ We was just having real man-to-man, woman-to-woman type of conversations.” We’re excited to hear what he has in store. Hopefully, a release date comes soon. Check the song above.
