Lil Durk Argues Gang Life Is Incompatible With His Muslim Faith

Lil Durk argued you can’t be both gang-affiliated and Muslim while speaking on his faith in a statement on Instagram, over the weekend. The topic began with him sharing a selfie on Instagram with the caption: “Don’t label me nothing outside of A MAN A FATHER and A 1000% Muslim.” As fans questioned his intent with the statement, Durk took to his Instagram Story to elaborate.

“I don’t gabgbang I’m a Muslim,” he wrote. “Basically what I was saying on my post in so many words you can’t do both ima be the one who say it. So if you follow me as a brother a friend a icon follow me to my new chapter of life. When I make music I rap what I seen and been through not telling you to go do it HUGE difference the music won’t change but my life goals will.”

It’s not the first time Durk has spoken about his growth in recent years. Back in June, he discussed his past drug use and revealed he checked into rehab in a video shared by TMZ. “It was tough at first, but it ain’t that tough ’cause I really knew what I wanted. I knew what was holding me back,” Durk explained at the time. “I wanted better. I want to be a better man, a better father, a better leader. My main goal is peace, being with the family and staying out of bullsh*t. I just see myself staying on the right track and trying to change a lot of lives.”

Is Lil Durk In A Gang? “Almost Healed” Artist Addresses Rumours

Like many of his contemporaries, Lil Durk’s lyrics are known to sometimes make mention of gang violence and living a fast and dangerous lifestyle. Seeing as there’s been a sudden influx in RICO cases being handed out by the government over the past few years, it’s not surprising that the 7220 artist wants to clear his name. Still, social media users can’t help but laugh at how unseriously he’s going about it. To begin his week, Durk logged into Instagram to share a brief message on his Story with curious fans.

“I’m not a gang member,” he candidly declared. “Ima Muslim 🤍,” Durk then added, leaving more than a few users confused. “Everybody wanna be Muslim all of a sudden. Like whyyyy do y’all do that? 😂,” one user asked in @theneighborhoodtalk’s comment section. As you may recall, it was only a few weeks ago when Finesse2tymes shared his plans to convert to Islam. However, when backlash quickly came rolling in, the “How to Act” hitmaker quickly changed his mind.

“This what ni**as do when they bouta go down the road 😂😂😂😂💯,” another person chimed in, seemingly hinting that Durk could be the next lyricist to land in hot water with the law. We certainly don’t want to see anything bad happen to the “Laugh Now Cry Later” artist, especially not after his triumphant comeback in 2023.

Lil Durk may not want beef with authorities or gang members, but the Chicago native certainly upset a few Spotify users when it came time for the platform to release their annual Wrapped. Multiple people who aren’t regular listeners of the rapper (if they stream him at all) found their top five most played songs of the year somehow all coming from Durk’s Almost Healed LP. Read more about that at the link below, and check back later for more hip-hop/pop culture news updates.

Muslim High School Graduate Denied Diploma After Doing ‘The Griddy’ Dance On Stage

diploma

A Philadelphia muslim high school graduate was left embarrassed after she was denied her diploma during the graduation ceremony for dancing on stage.

Hafsah Abdur-Rahman, 17, is calling for change after she was denied her diploma from The Philadelphia High School for Girls for doing a dance known as “The Griddy” during the June 9 ceremony.

According to ABC 6,  a viral video shows the teen getting called to accept her diploma and dancing over to the faculty member holding the document.

However, instead of handing the graduate her diploma, the teacher denied Abdur-Rahman for doing the dance on stage.

“I understood the rules because I was saying ‘shh’ in the video. Do not say nothing because I want my diploma,” said Abdur-Rahman. “I knew and understood what we were supposed to do.”

The teen thinks because others laughed at her dance, that’s what prevented her from receiving the diploma.

“If they thought that I shouldn’t do ‘The Griddy’ across the stage and do the Girls’ High traditions, nobody should have been able to wave or blow kisses or do period signs because I feel like that’s the same thing, she said. “I feel like that’s unfair.”

Abdur-Rahman said her moment was in honor of her sister who was killed at 14 years old and now it was ruined.
The school has since released a statement about withholding the diplomas.
