Kendrick Lamar Receives Offer For 2Pac’s Replica Ring After Dissing Drake’s Purchase Of The Real Piece

Kendrick Lamar has a chance to take home a replica of one of 2Pac’s iconic rings. Maksud Agadjani, a lapidary based out of New York City, proposed selling the piece to Lamar in a video on Facebook on Monday. The offer comes after Lamar altered the lyrics to his song, “Euphoria,” during The Pop Out – Ken & Friends to add: “Give me 2Pac’s ring back and I might give you a little respect.”

“Kendrick is telling Drake to give up 2Pac’s ring,” Agadjani said while showing off the piece. “Well this is 2Pac’s ring right here — this is a replica of the original one purchased by Drake, and Kendrick’s not happy about that. Hey Kendrick, if you can’t get the ring back on your own, you can always buy this one from traxnyc.com. For all the 2Pac fans or whatever, jewelry fans, fans that are ‘Not Like Us,’ fans that are like us — whatever it might be.”

During The Pop Out – Ken & Friends, Lamar performed several of his biggest Drake diss tracks before concluding with “Not Like Us,” which he ran through an emphatic five times before departing the stage. “Y’all ain’t gonna let anyone disrespect the West Coast, huh? Oh, y’all ain’t gonna let nobody mock and imitate our legends, huh?” he asked the crowd at one point. In the days since, he took to the streets of Los Angeles with several fellow West Coast collaborators to film a music video for the single.

Beats by Dre is revamping one of their top-selling products, the Beats Pill. This is quite a big decision for the iconic audio company, as the last time consumers received a new model was back in 2015 with the Beats Pill+. Then, in 2022, the Pill lineup was discontinued. However, the Apple subsidiary promises a sleeker and more crisp sounding platform this time around and it is going to be cheaper. According to Billboard, it will retail for $149.99, which is $50 less than the original from over a decade ago. If you want to get your hands on the improved speaker, it will hit the market on June 27 and is on presale right now.

Because the Pill is going through such a renaissance, why not reintroduce it with two of the biggest figures in pop culture. That is exactly what Beats by Dre decided to do, as LeBron James and Lil Wayne are here to usher in this new era for the product. If you remember, about a week ago, the Los Angeles Lakers superstar dropped a preview of the commercial titled “The Predicament”. In it, LBJ actual raps the correct lyrics (albeit the easiest ones) in “A Milli” by Weezy. Well, according to Uproxx, the time has come for the full advertisement, and it is quite hilarious.

Kanye West Settles Vultures Copyright Infringement Lawsuit With Donna Summer Estate

Kanye West and Ty Dolla $ign just settled a federal copyright infringement lawsuit brought against them by Bruce Sudano, the second husband of Donna Summer and the executor of her estate. 

Pitchfork reported, the lawsuit, filed in February, accused the artists of using elements of Summer’s iconic song “I Feel Love” without permission in their track “Good (Don’t Die),” featured on their album Vultures 1.

Get this, court documents filed on June 20 indicate that the case has been dismissed with prejudice, meaning it cannot be refiled. The terms of the settlement have not been disclosed.

Diving in, Sudano’s lawsuit claimed that West and Ty Dolla $ign had requested clearance to use the 1977 hit but were denied by the estate and Universal Music Enterprises. Despite this, they allegedly used the song’s melody as the hook for “Good (Don’t Die)” and re-recorded recognizable portions of “I Feel Love” with a soundalike singer, making slight changes to the lyrics without permission.

If you’re trying to hear the tune, ”Good (Don’t Die)” was initially available on digital streaming platforms as part of Vultures 1 but has mostly been unavailable for some time.

When contacted by Pitchfork, Stanton “Larry” Stein, an attorney for Bruce Sudano, declined to comment. Pitchfork also reached out to the attorneys for Kanye West and Ty Dolla $ign for further information but has not yet received a response.

Settlements are usually a good thing. Too bad it had to get there for all parties involved.

Can Kendrick Lamar’s ‘Not Like Us’ Win A Grammy Award?

Kendrick Lamar has a significant hit on his hands with “Not Like Us,” as the Drake diss track ended up debuting at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. It’s one of the year’s defining songs so far, so people might be wondering about its chances at the 2025 Grammy Awards.

Can Kendrick Lamar’s “Not Like Us” Win A Grammy Award?

There are some requirements for a song to be eligible for Grammy nomination, and one of the most immediately important ones is the release window. In order to be eligible for the 2025 awards, a work needs to have been released between September 16, 2023 to August 30, 2024. “Not Like Us” come out on May 4, so it’s well within the window.

Another noteworthy consideration is the use of AI. As established for the 2024 awards, work created using AI tools is actually eligible for Grammy nomination if, among other criteria, “the human authorship component of the work submitted must be meaningful and more than de minimis.” There has been no word of AI usage in the song’s creation, so “Not Like Us” is alright on that front, too.

So, it appears there’s no reason why the song can’t be considered, and Recording Academy CEO Harvey Mason Jr. just backed that up. In a recent TMZ interview, he was asked about if the song could be nominated and he said he doesn’t “see any reason why it couldn’t be.”

Young Dolph’s Alleged Murder Organizer Arrested In Separate Case

Hernandez Govan, who has been accused of ordering a hit on Young Dolph in 2021, was arrested and charged with stalking, driving with a suspended license, and having an improperly mounted license tag in Southaven, Mississippi on Sunday. He posted a $2,250 bail and walked out of DeSoto County Jail. He had already been out on a $90,000 bond for the murder case of the late rapper. His two co-defendants in that case, Justin Johnson and Cornelius Smith, are still in jail.

“We were apprised of Govan’s arrest on an unrelated preexisting warrant,” a Shelby County District Attorney’s Office spokesperson told FOX 13 Memphis, as caught by AllHipHop. “We are looking into the circumstances. The court will be made aware of the arrest.”

The constant delays in the Dolph case have been tough on his loved ones. Dolph’s longtime partner, Mia Jaye, previously vented about the situation in a lengthy post on social media. “It is truly hurtful that my family was robbed of a future,” she wrote before adding, “My love’s life was taken… and to be left behind to see NO ONE be held accountable in the court of law for the act… is INSANE…. Our family has witnessed lenient bonds being granted, absurd requests approved for the defendants to get a [change of] venue motion, freedom, more time to build a stronger defense… witnessed songs be made, defendants enjoying life while on [house arrest]… all while our loved one is 6feet deep, waiting for JUSTICE to be served… talk about disheartening, unfair, triggering and hurtful.” The two share a son named Trey and a daughter named Aria.

Foolio’s Murder: Police Chief Promises Arrests Are Coming

Tampa Police Chief Lee Bercaw hosted a Town Hall meeting to discuss the recent murder of Foolio, during which he promised that the rapper’s killers would be brought to justice. The 26-year-old was gunned down outside of a Holiday Inn, last weekend, while celebrating his birthday among friends.

“We are working day in and day out on this case,” Bercraw told members of the media. “They’re developing some good leads. We’re working closely with the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office. We are working with our statewide prosecutor, our federal partners, the ATF and the FBI, and our local prosecutor Susie Lopez. I can guarantee you we are going to be following up and making arrests in that case.” He added that they’ve been looking through social media posts as well. Foolio was staying at an Airbnb before being kicked out for having too many guests over. At that point, the party moved to a Holiday Inn where he was ambushed.

Chief Lee Bercaw Speaks On The Investigation

“At approximately 4:40 am, Tampa Police received a 911 call for a shooting at 11606 McKinley Drive,” Tampa Police said in a statement about the incident. “A total of four people were injured in the shooting. One person was pronounced deceased, three other victims are being treated at the hospital. Their condition is listed as stable at this time.” Foolio’s lawyer, Lewis Fusco, confirmed that the rapper was the deceased victim in a statement afterward. He wrote: “Mr. Jones had been in Tampa to celebrate his birthday over the weekend. Law enforcement reports indicate that he initially stayed at an Airbnb but was asked to leave due to exceeding occupancy limits. He subsequently relocated to the Holiday Inn, where he was involved in an incident in the hotel parking lot and reportedly ambushed.”

Fusco concluded: “While these events involving our client, Mr. Charles Jones, have been disclosed by law enforcement, we are unable to provide further comments at this time until additional details become public record. We kindly request that the privacy of Mr. Jones and his family be respected during this difficult time.” Foolio had posted about being in town to celebrate his birthday on his Instagram account. LeBron James Creates An Existential Dilemma For Lil Wayne In A New Beats Commercial

LeBron James is getting set for his 22nd season in the NBA, and has a big decision to make this summer as he can be a free agent if he so chooses. The expectation is that he remains in Los Angeles as a member of the Lakers, as they just hired his former podcast partner JJ Redick as head coach, but if L.A. doesn’t lay out a plan to invest in the roster to create a title contender, he could see what’s out there in free agency.

If he does that, plenty of teams will make their pitch to the best player of this generation (and arguably all-time), as he is both still a tremendous player and remains the NBA’s biggest draw, even after over two decades in the league. Similar to how there are few players that have ever had a claim to being as good or better than James on the basketball court, the list of players that have James’ level off the court appeal is just as short — basically, just him and Michael Jordan.

James pretty regularly stars in commercials, and his latest is with longtime partner Beats by Dr. Dre for the re-launch of the Beats Pill. In the spot, LeBron creates an existential dilemma for Lil Wayne by turning up his legendary track, ‘A Milli’, so loud in a penthouse party that Wayne can’t sleep in his condo underneath. When Wayne bursts in to turn it off, James reminds him that “wouldn’t Lil Wayne want us to play Lil Wayne too loud?”, which the New Orleans rapper can’t help but agree with.

Sexyy Red Keeps Her Campaign ‘4 President’ Going With A New Tour Alongside Hunxho

Is Sexyy Red running for president? In a literal sense, not likely, but it almost appears so: Today (June 25), she announced a headlining tour dubbed 4 President.

The shows kick off in a couple months, in late August in Seattle. The US tour will also hit Brooklyn, Philadelphia, Minneapolis, and other major cities. On the trek, Sexyy will be joined by Hunxho, Loe Shimmy, and BlakeIANA.

Cardi B recreated an iconic outfit from the late Princess Diana and in turn, has fans looking for clues about her highly-anticipated sophomore album. In a picture of her look, Cardi rocks a vintage Harvard sweatshirt above grey shorts with a pair of sunglasses on. She holds a black bag and is flaunting a pair of Jordans on her feet.

“The cover art of sza’s ‘sos’ references Princess Diana…,” one user pointed out. Another wrote: “Who else is trying to find a hidden album hint in these pictures?” One fan cited an article from Vogue. “According to Vogue, The photo that Cardi B remade was taken in 1997 and the caption under the picture was… ‘Fresh out of the gym and still looking polished owing to her muted sportswear and top handle tote,’” they noted.

Fans have been waiting on a sophomore album from Cardi since she dropped her debut, Invasion of Privacy, all the way back in 2018. While she’s finally confirmed that the project will be dropping at some point this year, she did briefly go back on that promise in a post on X (formerly Twitter). In May, she wrote: “Anyway NO album this year I don’t care I’m relaxing this year .. Dropping these features I already committed to and traveling and enjoying my summer.” She’s since deleted the post after her team confirmed to Rolling Stone that the project is still coming.
