The Extremely Clean Kidz Bop Version Of Lil Nas X’s ‘Montero’ Is As Ridiculous As You’d Expect

This year, Kidz Bop celebrated its 20th anniversary, meaning they’ve been making family-friend covers of the most popular pop songs for two decades. They’ve tried hard to spin some raunchy lyrics into kid-friendly verses over the years, like when changed Nicki Minaj’s “Anaconda” to actually be about snakes. But their recent version of Lil Nas X‘s Montero title track perhaps takes the cake for being the most laughable.

The Kidz Bop team got wildly creative when switching up the lyrics to “Montero (Call Me By Your Name).” Of course, they couldn’t have 10-year-olds singing Lil Nas X’s lyrics about cocaine and f*cking people out of his league, so they instead swapped out many of the lines.

One of Lil Nas X’s “Montero” lyrics reads, “I wanna sell what you’re buying / I wanna feel on yo’ ass in Hawaii / I want that jet lag from f*cking and flying / Shoot a child in your mouth while I’m riding.” But Kidz Bop’s version is much different: “I wanna sell what you’re buyin’ / I wanna lie on the beach in Hawaii / I want that jet lag from livin’ and flyin’ / Put a smile on your face whilst we’re dining’.”

In fact, the updated version of the song is so ridiculous that Lil Nas X himself was left speechless. The rapper simply posted a screenshot of the chorus of the Kidz Bop song to his Twitter without a caption.

Young Thug Got 21 Savage A $150K Custom Hellcat Truck For His Birthday

21 Savage recently celebrated his 29th birthday (it was on October 22, the night 21 opened for J. Cole at The Forum in Los Angeles) and was given a truly impressive gift by one of his close rapper friends to celebrate. Young Thug, who most recently collaborated with Savage on “Emergency” from the latter’s soundtrack for the Saw spinoff Spiral, gifted 21 with a custom Dodge Hellcat TRX worth $150,000, according to TMZ. While the pickup truck is normally between $60,000 and $70,000 at retail, the custom detailing Thug had added boosted the price tag.

Among those customizations are headrests stitched with Savage’s face, glow-in-the-dark stars embedded into the ceiling, a custom bright red paint job featuring 21’s signature forehead knife tattoo imprinted all over, and more. The customization was done by Roadshow International in Atlanta, and a video was posted on Instagram capturing the moment 21 excitedly received the gift from his friend.

A couple of months ago, their roles were reversed as they partied together for Young Thug’s birthday. A playful 21 shot a viral video of Thug during dinner, teasing him to the point Thug had to snatch the phone from his hand.

Issa Rae Still Hasn’t Forgiven Meek Mill For Beefing With Drake

As the basketball and music worlds continue to crossover in entertaining and unexpected ways — think Damian Lillard’s rap career, Kawhi Leonard curating a rap compilation, or 2 Chainz, Jack Harlow, Lil Baby, and Quavo participating in a 2-on-2 during NBA All-Star Weekend — one of the more welcome surprises has been Kevin Durant’s podcast, The ETCs. The well-noted Drake stan and his co-host Eddie Gonzalez not only talk music and sports, but they also occasionally bring on interesting guests from both worlds, including TDE engineer Derek Ali, Roc-A-Fella Records founder Kareem Burke, and in today’s episode, Insecure creator Issa Rae.

While discussing Issa’s role in curating music for the popular dramedy and running her own label, Raedio, in conjunction with Atlantic Records, Issa wonders what the two hosts have been listening to lately. While there seems to be agreement around the table that Drake’s new album Certified Lover Boy is worth revisiting, Issa stops cold when the fellas mention Meek Mill. “I have not listened to Meek Mill,” she admits. “Y’all forgave him?”

“For the Drake thing?” Durant asks. “You didn’t forgive him.” Eddie points out that Drake forgave Meek, which Issa acknowledges but refutes, saying, “I’m the girlfriend that’s like, ‘He asked for no onions!’ So that’s like, I just felt protective of him — with him and Pusha T.”

I guess that means we’re not going to hear any Pusha T music on the final season of Insecure. Check out a video clip of the conversation below.

YoungBoy Never Broke Again Was Released From Prison But He’s Still Not Totally Off The Hook

After being arrested in March following a high-speed police car chase, YoungBoy Never Broke Again is officially out of jail. But he’s still not totally off the hook when it comes to his charges of stolen firearms. While the rapper is no longer in prison, he will be put on house arrest for the time being.

Reports of NBA YoungBoy’s release first came from XXL, which noted Chief US District Judge Shelly Dick approved the rapper’s freedom from prison with “significant conditions.” Apparently, those “significant conditions” include house arrest in his home in Layton, Utah with former US military members standing guard outside of his property.

Along with being put on house arrest, the rapper will be under probation, meaning he can’t obtain a passport or other international travel documents and he’s only allowed to reside or travel to the Middle District of Louisiana, the Central District of California, and Utah. He’s also subjected to drug tests, will undergo outpatient abuse therapy, and has to wear a GPS monitor at all times.

He’s still trying to make music while on house arrest, however. According to XXL, YoungBoy even asked judges to grant him permission to build a recording studio in his home, but it’s unclear whether or not his motion was approved.

Lil Nas X’s Dad Snaps On Boosie After His Latest Homophobic Rant

Once again, Baton Rouge rapper Boosie BadAzz has gone off on a homophobic rant regarding Lil Nas X, and once again, Nas’ father has stepped in to check the Southern rapper. After Nas joked during an Instagram Live stream that he had a song with Boosie on the way, the Louisiana rapper jumped into a tirade on Twitter in which he slung slurs and issued some violent invective. However, on Tuesday, Nas’ father Robert Stafford, posted an Instagram story rebuking Boosie, calling him washed up.

“How the hell you’re a gangsta rapper promoting drugs, gun violence, degrading women and getting high every video talking about how you’re for the kids,” Stafford questioned. “Man sit your old looking a*s down. The game has past you. We real bankhead over here. Not like the guy who claims it. CHAMPIONS!” It’s not the first time he jumped in to defend his son; when DaBaby made comments interpreted as homophobic during his Rolling Loud set, Stafford went in on the North Carolina rapper as well.

Meanwhile, Boosie seemed uncowed by the talking-to, sneering via Twitter, “DONT GET MAD AT ME CAUSE YOUR SON CAME OUT LIKE THAT LOL I KNOW IT HURTS.”

Previously, Boosie lashed out at Nas during a live stream after apparently taking Nas’ joke about performing naked literally. “That’s the most disrespectful muthaf*cka in the world,” he said, among a slew of other NSFW and highly offensive comments. After being called out by fans on Twitter, he accepted an invitation to The Breakfast Club, where he doubled down. His fascination with Lil Nas X even prompted a late-night Twitter rant that got him excoriated by fans who think he’s paid just a little too much attention to Nas’ moves someone who disapproves so much.

Whatever the case, it doesn’t seem like the two are likely to resolve their issues anytime soon, as Boosie seems uninterested in growth and Nas is one of the internet’s most prolific trolls.

Chance The Rapper Just Bought A $2 Million Mansion Near Michael Jordan’s House

It’d probably be any Chicago native’s dream to live down the street from Michael Jordan. While Chance The Rapper‘s newest property acquisition doesn’t quite make him the GOAT’s neighbor, it puts him within a 10-minute drive (which is really just a 30-minute walk, if you think about it). The Chicago Tribune reports that Chancellor and his wife Kirsten just put down $2.3 million for a five-bedroom, 9,251-square-foot mansion in Bannockburn, Illinois, upgrading from the five-bedroom, 6,721-square-foot place they’d been renting a couple of blocks away from their new place.

The purchase gets them a plethora of plush amenities, including six half bathrooms, a four-car garage, a home movie theater, six fireplaces, an exercise room, a bar, and a home office with a studio — an ever-important addition for the man of the house, who hasn’t released a full-length project since 2019’s The Big Day. The home, which was built in 1996, has been up for sale since 2012 after the previous owners paid $2.6 million in 2004. Initially listed for $3.29 million, they’d decreased the asking price every couple of years since, dropping it down to its final price in November of 2020. As noted by HipHopDX, Jordan’s Highland Park estate is just 10 minutes away, with the NBA legend also doing his best to sell his property — the site of Travis Scott’s “Franchise” video shoot — since 2012 and lowering the price successively ever since.

Chance’s mansion purchase was facilitated by his mom, Lisa Thompson-Bennett of Crown Heights Realty, who also helped him buy a Streeterville condo for $3.7 million in 2018.

Kanye West’s ‘Donda’ Stem Player Is Finally Being Released And Comes With Three Additional Songs

Just days before Kanye West finally released his tenth album Donda, it was revealed that the rapper would be packaging purchases of the album with a stem player that allows its users to “customize any song.” The product’s features let users control vocals, drums, bass, and samples, isolate certain parts of a song, and add effects. It also supports Bluetooth capabilities and features a headphone jack, volume buttons, speakers, a haptic engine, and 8GB of storage. Two months after it was made available, the stem player is finally being delivered and it appears that the device certainly lives up to the hype. Furthermore, Kanye uploaded three more songs, in addition to the entirety of Donda, to the stem player.

The first song that was added is a censored version of “Life Of The Party,” featuring Andre 3000. For those who remember, the song was thrown into the middle of West and Drake’s beef after the latter leaked it during a late-night radio broadcast. Andre spoke out about the song being leaked in a statement, writing, “It’s unfortunate that it was released in this way and two artists that I love are going back and forth.”

The other two songs that were added are the official version of “Up From The Ashes” — a track that was a last-minute scratch from West 2019 album Jesus Is King, according to HipHopNMore — and a final and complete version of “Never Abandon Your Family.” Additionally, Kid Cudi appears on “Remote” with Young Thug after he was removed from the digital version of the track.

You can check out previews of the added songs as well as how the stem player works all together in the videos above.

Lil Durk Ended His Set At Howard University’s Homecoming Early After Feeling Underwhelmed By The Crowd

Lil Durk is fresh off completing his Back Outside Tour with Lil Baby, whcih were held in support of their album Voice Of The Heroes, as their own recent solo projects, namely the former’s Just Cause Y’all Waited 2 and The Voice as well as the latter’s My Turn. For his next performance, Durk brought his talents to Howard University’s homecoming for a concert in front of the school’s students. While everything may have went well at first, things were cut short after the rapper felt like things were a little off.

Thanks to a video provided by someone in the crowd, it appears that Durk cut his set short due to underwhelming energy from the crowd. “Aye look, we was supposed to do more songs but this sh*t sound so bogus I don’t even feel this sh*t for real,” he told the crowd. “But I appreciate y’all for f*cking with us one time in this muthaf*cka, man,” he added before walking off the stage.

Durk recently joined EST Gee in a video for Moneybagg Yo’s “Switches & Dracs.” He also connected with 42 Dugg in a video for their collaboration “Free Ric.” As for his own work, Durk released his latest single, “Pissed Me Off,” earlier this month, in which he addresses many of the dark moments that recently occurred in his life.

R. Kelly’s Three Grammy Awards Will Not Yet Be Revoked, According To The Recording Academy’s CEO

R. Kelly will be able to keep his three Grammy awards, for the time being. The Recording Academy’s Harvey Mason Jr. spoke to the Chicago Sun-Times and addressed rumors that the singer would have the awards revoked as a result of his recent conviction on sex trafficking and racketeering charges. “I think it’s something that we’re going to need to take a good hard look at, have a lot of conversations about, work through and make a decision,” he said. “But right now, I think it’s something that is going to take a little bit more consideration before we can really dictate or decide.”

Mason Jr. added, “My initial feeling is we’re probably not a business that we want to be in of taking people’s awards back after they’ve been given. But we’ll take a good look at it and see.”

Kelly received his three Grammys came back in 1997, when he won in three different categories for “I Believe I Can Fly,” his hit song from the Space Jam soundtrack.

The singer was specifically convicted on one count of racketeering and eight counts of sex trafficking, with each accounting for his violations of the Mann Act, a law that makes it illegal to move someone across state lines “for any immoral purpose.” The sentencing portion of the case will begin on May 4, 2022, where he faces between 10 years and life in prison.

Kelly was reportedly put on suicide watch after his conviction. His lawyer, however, confirmed days later that he had been removed from the categorization.

French Montana Responds To A ‘Squid Game’ Meme That Trolled His Music

Last month, the Korean Netflix show Squid Game arrived and quickly became the biggest series launch ever in the service’s history. Thanks to its popularity, Squid Game has become a talking point across social media and the entertainment world. Memes have flown wild. There have been parodies on SNL. And there’s been debates about the potentially dodgy subtitles. The latest example is when a Twitter user took an image from the show to create a scenario that involved French Montana. “For the next game, you need to name FIVE French Montana songs without features,” they wrote. However, French Montana was not amused.

The rapper caught wind of the tweets and demonstrated that the task was not hard at all. French rattled off a number of his songs: “Ain’t Worried About Nothin,” “Sanctuary,” “F*ck With Me Get A Bag,” “Don’t Panic,” “Everything’s A Go,” “Famous,” “Shot Caller,” “Devil Want My Soul,” “Henny And My 44,” “What It Look Like,” “Salam Alaikum,” “Hotel Bathroom,” and “I’m So Special.” He also left a harsh comment for the person who posted the tweet: “Now eat a d*ck,” he wrote. “I’m dropping a solo track this week.”
