Lil Durk Taps Alicia Keys For “Therapy Session/Pelle Coat” Music Video

It’s been a long time coming but Lil Durk is finally sliding through with his new album, Almost Healed at midnight (Friday, May 26th). The rapper ramped up the anticipation over the past few months with a handful of updates until finally releasing the first single off of the project, “All Of My Life” ft. J. Cole. As expected, the single shot high up the Billboard Hot 100 upon its release, tying Drake’s “Laugh Now Cry Later” as Durk’s highest-charting single. However, the project set the tone for what to expect from Almost Healed.

The tracklist for the project boasts an impressive number of features and producers. Features from Kodak Black and Future have us excited for what will be bound to be summer anthems but the inclusion of Alicia Keys certainly caught people off-guard. The singer appears on the project intro, “Therapy Session,” which Durk previewed this morning in the new video for “Pelle Coat” – the second single from the project ahead of its release.

Lil Durk’s “Therapy Session/Pelle Coat” Video Ft. Alicia Keys

The haunting visuals for his latest single open up with Alicia Keys’ intro as the role of his therapist. “It’s okay to express your vulnerabilities and emotions. This is a judgment-free zone and I encourage you to let your emotions out and express yourself freely,” she says after asking Durk about the passing of King Von and his brother, DThang. “Remember that you don’t have to go through this alone. I’m here to listen, you have the voice in this room. I wanna hear from Durk Banks.”

The video for “Pelle Coat” follows Durk through the streets of Chicago, highlighting his friends and landmarks in the city, such as a mural of King Von. The visuals follow Durk in the backseat of a Suburban before arriving at a Mosque where he prays alongside his father. The visuals perfectly accompany the introspective themes of the record and once again, showcase Durk’s maturity as an artist. GloRilla Shares Sexy New Video For “Lick Or Sum”

It was just over a year ago that GloRilla burst onto the music scene. She dropped her track “F.N.F. (Let’s Go),” and the rest is history. Produced by Hitkidd, the song quickly gained traction on TikTok, propelling it to reach No. 42 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. It didn’t stop there – “F.N.F. (Let’s Go)” received a gold certification from the RIAA and even scored a Grammy nomination for Best Rap Performance. Most notably, legendary rapper Nas gave a shoutout to GloRilla and her viral hit in his own song “Til My Last Breath.” In the lyrics, he spits, “I’m applying pressure, I see why she pressed / When she with me she GloRilla, FNF.”

However, the release of “F.N.F. (Let’s Go)” wasn’t without its fair share of issues. GloRilla found herself caught up in legal trouble with the song’s producer, Hitkidd. Taking to Twitter, Hitkidd publicly criticized GloRilla, alleging that she and her team attempted to claim full ownership of the track. He also revealed that he had offered advice to GloRilla, but it went unheeded. “I told you… every day we were in LA… that labels would try to sign you because of ‘FNF,’ so watch out,” he continued. “I also told you to keep me informed if labels reach out so we can be on the same page.” Despite the challenges she faced, GloRilla’s life took a turn for the better following the song’s release. Today, GloRilla released another summer banger.

GloRilla Hits The Salon, The Store, And The Streets

Earlier today, GloRilla took some initiative to stand out from all of the new releases that hit on Fridays. Instead, she decided to release her since “Lick Or Sum” on Tuesday. The new track samples Tear Da Club Up Thugs, Three 6 Mafia, and Project Pat’s 2000 hit “Slob On My Nob.” With its extremely explicit lyrics, the song is bound to generate significant attention and become a popular subject of discussion on social media in the upcoming weeks. Whether or not the song will be a hit remains to be seen, but it certainly has the potential.

The song wasn’t all GloRilla blessed fans with today. The new track came along with a visual that was filled to the brim with twerking. It features the rapper meeting up with friends and partying wherever they end up: the salon, the grocery, the streets. The video also shows Glo playfully whispering to the camera during the chorus of the new single. Overall, both the song and the video definitely give off strong summer vibes. What do you think of the new visual? Let us know in the comments below!

Even while he’s busy on tour, Logic is always one to feed fans and keep putting out fun material. Moreover, he just released the music video for his loose “Juice II,” and filmed it during one of his latest concerts. In fact, he premiered the song during his Vinyl Verse tour with Wiz Khalifa on August 16 of last year, which is presumably when he shot the visual. Over a peppy trap beat and with trademark fast and emphatic rhymes, the lyricist was able to keep the crowd energized throughout. However, that’s not all that the music video entailed, as he also threw shade at Def Jam after leaving the label.

“So for those of y’all who don’t know, I’m off Def Jam,” Logic told the arena during his performance, which starts the video off. “I’m a motherf***in’ free man, baby. I’m free! So that means I can do whatever the f**k I want. Like, every single one of y’all be in my brand new music video.” Of course, the 33-year-old expressed numerous times prior how happy and fulfilled he felt upon leaving his contract behind and gaining more independence.

It’s important if you’re in a position of power to spread a good message. Always peace love and positivity.” In a statement shortly his move away from his former label, he spoke on valuing his independence and dignity as an artist above all else.

“There’s a lot of bullshit in the music industry,” he stated. “I’m just glad to move on to a place where I can be independent and respected as an artist, and feel like I’m in control of my career.” We’re sure that there will be plenty more from the “Redpill VII” MC in the near future.
