Lil Durk Taps Alicia Keys For “Therapy Session/Pelle Coat” Music Video

It’s been a long time coming but Lil Durk is finally sliding through with his new album, Almost Healed at midnight (Friday, May 26th). The rapper ramped up the anticipation over the past few months with a handful of updates until finally releasing the first single off of the project, “All Of My Life” ft. J. Cole. As expected, the single shot high up the Billboard Hot 100 upon its release, tying Drake’s “Laugh Now Cry Later” as Durk’s highest-charting single. However, the project set the tone for what to expect from Almost Healed.

The tracklist for the project boasts an impressive number of features and producers. Features from Kodak Black and Future have us excited for what will be bound to be summer anthems but the inclusion of Alicia Keys certainly caught people off-guard. The singer appears on the project intro, “Therapy Session,” which Durk previewed this morning in the new video for “Pelle Coat” – the second single from the project ahead of its release.

Lil Durk’s “Therapy Session/Pelle Coat” Video Ft. Alicia Keys

The haunting visuals for his latest single open up with Alicia Keys’ intro as the role of his therapist. “It’s okay to express your vulnerabilities and emotions. This is a judgment-free zone and I encourage you to let your emotions out and express yourself freely,” she says after asking Durk about the passing of King Von and his brother, DThang. “Remember that you don’t have to go through this alone. I’m here to listen, you have the voice in this room. I wanna hear from Durk Banks.”

The video for “Pelle Coat” follows Durk through the streets of Chicago, highlighting his friends and landmarks in the city, such as a mural of King Von. The visuals follow Durk in the backseat of a Suburban before arriving at a Mosque where he prays alongside his father. The visuals perfectly accompany the introspective themes of the record and once again, showcase Durk’s maturity as an artist.
