Houston’s police force announced that they have a suspect in the tragic and fatal shooting of rapper BTB Savage. Moreover, they said on Friday (April 7) that 40-year-old Montrel Lenard Burley is a wanted suspect in the case. Not only that, but they said that they’re also looking for at least one other individual suspected to be guilty for the crime. Savage, real name Darrell Gentry, was fatally shot in Houston on March 30 and pronounced deceased on the scene. Paramedics responded to the 26-year-old’s death and informed police on the case. According to witnesses, officials maintained, two suspects sped off in a black SUV following the shooting.
Furthermore, federal agents also formed part of the investigation, which might be part of something larger. To elaborate, the fallen MC’s family believes his passing was revenge for a San Antonio shooting. Earlier in the year, a man named Omar Richardson reportedly tried to rob BTB Savage. Allegedly, the rapper’s girlfriend shot and killed Richardson in self-defense, and he boasted about it on social media and in an interview with VladTV.

“I said ‘Take that off social media,’” BTB Savage’s mother Bernita Ward expressed to ABC 13. “Let this family mourn in peace. They were taunting my son, though, telling him they were going to kill the family, make his momma cry and kill his son. I told my son, ‘Don’t respond. Let it go.’ But their family member came to rob my son. The moral of this story is two mothers lost two amazing sons and that their children would be raised without fathers. That’s the sad thing.” In addition to their revelation of a suspect, police also said anyone with information should reach Crime Stoppers at 713-222-TIPS or the HPD Homicide Division at 713-308-3600.

Shocking news is coming out of the tech world today as it was revealed that Cash App found Bob Lee was killed. According to NBC, the attack took place in San Francisco at around 2 AM on Tuesday morning. Moreover, it was revealed that San Francisco police were called to the scene as someone saw a man with stab wounds. Subsequently, they tended to the man before sending him off to the hospital. However, it was too late as the man eventually died from his wounds.
Although details on who the man was were scarce, it was eventually revealed that it was Bob Lee who had passed. For those who don’t know, Lee had founded Cash App. Additionally, he was a chief technology officer at Square but had since moved on to a new role. In fact, he was currently serving as the chief product officer at MobileCoin. For those not in the know, this is a cryptocurrency company that was trying to change the game.

With Bob Lee passing away unexpectedly, those who knew him the best are speaking out. In a statement, the CEO of MobileCoin, Josh Goldbard, revealed how big of a loss this truly is. “Bob was a dynamo, a force of nature. Bob was the genuine article,” Goldbard said. “He was made for the world that is being born right now, he was a child of dreams, and whatever he imagined, no matter how crazy, he made real.” Clearly, Lee meant a lot to so many people.

PnB Rock’s death shook the internet. Rakim Allen, a rapper from Philadelphia, was best known for his album TrapStar Turnt Popstar, which reached No. 5 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. He was also in the 2017 class of XXL Freshmen. However, on September 12, 2022, PnB Rock died in a fatal shooting at Roscoe’s House of Chicken ‘N Waffles in Los Angeles. As news of his death spread, many of his colleagues in the music industry sent their condolences. Meanwhile, a heated argument about who was to blame erupted on social media.
Suspects Arrested
Two weeks after the fatal robbery, police in Los Angeles arrested two people. One of the suspects, a teen, was arrested and charged with murder. The other suspect, Shauntel Trone, 32, was apprehended on accusations of being an accessory to murder. Additionally, the police said that a man named Freddie Lee Trone was also a suspect and asked the public to help them find him. The authorities later charged the trio, naming Freddie as the teen’s father and Shauntel as the boy’s stepmother. Following PnB Rock’s death, people argued about the location tag on his girlfriend Stephanie Sibounheuang’s social media post. It was alleged that PnB’s killer may have used it to find him and reminded the public of the slaying of Pop Smoke in 2020. The late rapper was shot during a home invasion in the Hollywood Hills. People also think his killers found out where he was through an Instagram post that accidentally gave away his rental address. Several men were arrested in that case and are pending trial.

Meanwhile, Cardi B and DJ Akademiks didn’t want to blame PnB Rock’s death on anyone else. “I highly doubt nikkas was looking at PMB’s babymom IG. He was in a bad location and people stay outside plotting,” Cardi said. “It is very careless and rude to blame her for something so terrible. At this time, we should send her and his family nothing but love.” Akademiks also stated, “A lot of people are sad about PNB Rock’s death, and everyone is passing the buck except the nigga who actually killed him. He died because a bunch of jerks decided to rob him and take his life.”
Nicki Minaj also joined the conversation but had a different take. “After Pop Smoke there’s no way we as rappers or our loved ones are still posting locations to our whereabouts. To show waffles & some fried chicken????! He was such a pleasure to work with. Condolences to his mom & family. This makes me feel so sick. Jesus.” Kodak Black reacted to the news by saying that PnB Rock’s fiancée was to blame for his death. “PnB was my boy, and last night I was OTP with them! PnB Rock Discussed Being A Target
A few days before he died, PnB Rock talked about how he felt he was being targeted by his foes. During an interview with Akademiks in September 2022, Rock said he felt like someone was tailing him and his family around L.A. “I be trying to be cool because you don’t want to be nervous,” he said. “You want to be as calm as possible.” The rapper further stated that robberies targeting rappers were “very regular” in Los Angeles. He told Akademiks that he didn’t go to places like nightclubs because “gangsters” would be looking for him there. He also said, “I’m not going to put myself in that situation because I know what happens.”
PnB Rock also talked about how, since his brother died, he has become more careful. “Since then, I’ve been moving in a different way,” he said. After PnB Rock’s death, Akademiks tweeted: “Wow.. this PNB Rock scenario crazy… I just did an interview with him a week ago, and he told me that someone tried to rob him in LA while he was out with his girlfriend and daughter.” He added, “Pray for PNB Rock, please.”

Further, Stephanie explained that Rock didn’t have life insurance or a will, making financial assistance difficult. The investigation into the suspects involved is ongoing. “At approximately 6:10 PM, we received a call for service at a shooting in progress,” he told the media. “A drive-by shooting in the 2100 block of Mid Lane. As officers arrived, they quickly located an African-American male, which appears to be in his mid-20s, deceased on the scene. He was driving a white Mercedes vehicle.” Finner also noted that witness testimony claims a black newer model Mitsubishi SUV-type vehicle with dark windows came up on the victim and began to fire. “Two suspects got out, the only thing we have on them is they were wearing all black with hoodies,” the chief said.
Finner’s reports state that the potential shooters “fled either eastbound or westbound on San Felipe.” While details are sparse at this time, he does know that a number of shots hit BTB Savage. This info comes from the number of casings left on the ground. “We do believe this is a targeted incident,” the authorities also noted. Some of their tactics so far have included reviewing local surveillance cameras and encouraging the public to come forward with any information. Another young rapper has lost their life as a result of senseless gun violence, VladTV reports. “Real Fraud” artist BTB Savage was allegedly shot and killed near Houston’s River Oaks section on Thursday (March 29) evening. This, just hours after posting photos on social media of him standing over a murder scene where he had previously killed someone. The images in question see the young artist proudly flaunting his flashy jewelry while standing beside a door riddled with bullet holes and a floor splattered in blood. “TOO MUCH MOTION,” he wrote alongside them, referencing a recent music video of his.
It would appear the friends of BTB Savage’s victim didn’t take kindly to his message. They seemingly set out for retaliation just hours later. Around 6:10 yesterday evening, a shooting transpired in the 2100 block of Mid Lane. Ultimately, the embattled lyricist lost his life. According to Houston Police Department Chief Troy Finner, the young Black man was pronounced dead upon arrival. Official confirmation of his identity still has yet to come. However, Akademiks and DJ Vlad are both asserting it was BTB who was killed.
As HipHopDX notes, witnesses in the area at the time of the shooting note that Savage was driving a white Mercedes. Suspects reportedly pulled up beside him in a black Subaru, at which time multiple shots were fired and the latter vehicle fled down San Felipe. As they continue to investigate the tragedy, local authorities are asking that anyone with any information please come forward.

Tay-K is best known for his hit song “The Race,” which reached No. 44 on the Billboard Hot 100 list. Later, the track was certified platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America. The song details Tay-K’s evasion from the police after he was wanted for murder and robbery charges. He was reportedly on the run from the police for three months before he was captured by U.S. marshals on June 30, 2017, the same day “The Race” was released.
After his arrest, many fans took to social media to support the Texas rapper. This led to the release of his mixtape Santana’s World in July 2017. Despite the mixtape receiving many positive reviews, which led to Tay-K gaining even more fame, he remains incarcerated. Let’s look at the events that led to Tay K’s plight and the details behind his 55 years to life sentencing.
In 2017, Tay-K was on the run for allegedly participating in the murder of 21-year-old Ethan Walker during a botched robbery. Walker reportedly put his hands up to surrender but was killed. The robbery was allegedly drug-related, according to authorities. Tay-K was said to be one of six people who participated in the crime. The rapper was 16 years old at the time. In March 2017, Tay-K cut off his house arrest ankle monitor and went on the run for three months.
On March 26, 2017, Tay tweeted, “F*ck dis house arrest sh*t f*ck 12 they gn hav 2 catch me on hood.” It was during this time that he recorded “The Race.” While on the run, Tay-K also allegedly killed a 23-year-old man during a robbery in San Antonio. He was also accused of assaulting a 65-year-old man during a robbery in Arlington. He was charged for both incidents, but they are still pending.
Tay-K Goes to Trial
It was in 2019 that Tay-K was sentenced for the charges that led to his initial arrest. While on trial, Tay’s defense attorney, Jeff Kearney, noted his musical ability and young age as reasons for leniency. Kearney reportedly stated, “He has a chance. Let’s not throw him away. He is worthy of redemption.” The prosecution’s rebuttal was Tay K’s brash behavior while in and out of custody. They argued that he enjoyed the fame he received after killing Walker and evading the police. The prosecution also used Tay K’s lyrics in “The Race” against him, as the song allegedly showed his lack of remorse. The prosecution also showed the cover of Tay K’s 2017 EP #LivingLikeLarry, which featured him sitting on a kitchen counter with a gun.
The Defense Makes A Case
Defense attorneys also argued that Tay-K was unarmed during the robbery. They further stated he didn’t know anyone would be killed. Tay did not pull the trigger during the killing; however, he did steal money and drugs from Walker’s home. Because of this, Tay was found not guilty of capital murder, which carried a mandatory 40-year prison sentence. Yet he was indicted on other charges. Tay-K pleaded guilty to the lesser charge of murder, one count of aggravated robbery for the shooting, and one count of robbery of another man.
He also pleaded guilty to two additional counts of aggravated robbery related to other victims of the home invasion that led to Ethan Walker’s death. Tay was sentenced to 30 years for one of the robbery counts. Additionally, he received 13 years on each of the other two in July 2019. He was also ordered to pay $21,000 in fines. Tay K is currently serving 55 years to life for the murder charge. He is serving the other charges concurrently, or simultaneously.
In January 2023, Tay-K took to Twitter to ask for a second chance at adulthood. He disagreed with the court’s decision to try him as an adult and believed that his sentence was a product of racial bias within the justice system. Tay tweeted, “I bet if I was a lil white kid they wouldn’t have gave me no 55 years for a crime I was alleged to play the most insignificant role in when I was 16….they woulda rightfully argued that my mind wasn’t fully developed and gave me rehabilitation and a 2nd (1st) chance at adulthood.”
Tay-K also noted that one of his accomplices was a 16-year-old white girl who was only sentenced to 10 years of probation. “One of my codefendants was a white girl who was 16 jus like me,” he wrote. “They didn’t certify her as an adult but they certified me n pimp as adults. pimp got 30, I got 55, she ended up getting 10 years of probation without no deal…that girl @ home rn.” Despite Tay-K’s pleas, it is uncertain if the young rapper will soon see freedom. He is also still awaiting trial in San Antonio for the alleged murder while on the run.
Bernard Robins, an ex-officer of the Los Angeles Police Department, suggested that the LAPD might have orchestrated the murder of Nipsey Hussle. The Crenshaw rapper’s passing struck the hip-hop community like an earthquake, and though his legacy endures, his loss is still painfully felt by millions. Readers may remember that the police department launched an internal investigation into the 33-year-old’s loss. However, Robins recently said during an appearance on the Comedy Hype podcast that he didn’t discard the possibility of police ordering his death. When the podcast host brought up the department’s other accusations of organized murder, the ex-cop expressed belief that they possibly took Nipsey out.
“I think that there could have been,” he stated. “I’ve never witnessed any law enforcement officers say that there was something going on or even eluded to it. But there’s that possibility. We know a lot of the positive things that he was doing in the community. So, there’s definitely that possibility that they were that determined to stop what he had going, that they probably could have sent [Eric Holder Jr.] to go and do that.
Ex-Officer Alleges That LAPD Ordered Murder Of Nipsey Hussle
“I think also that they said [Eric] was an informant for law enforcement. That was a part of the issue that he had with Nipsey Hussle allegedly so we don’t know. We don’t know what was going on behind those closed doors.” In addition, the LAPD denied reports from the Los Angeles Times that they were investigating Nipsey. Also, they reportedly targeted his businesses and movement in a secret operation. While this is a lot of speculative material, neither law enforcement nor state prosecutors explained how they came about in the first place. Authorities in St. Louis accused aspiring rapper Woozy The Goat murdering his grandparents after a potential mental breakdown. Moreover, a Friday (March 24) TMZ report indicates that the artist, real name Davionne McRoberts, went to a psych ward in Missouri earlier this week while covered in blood and confessed that he murdered Donald and Kathy McRoberts. Furthermore, police found the couple dead on Tuesday (March 21) and began a search for McRoberts. Not only that, but the report suggests that Woozy had a mental breakdown and shot his grandparents, yet police didn’t determine any other motives.
That being said, McRoberts posted some concerning messages to his Facebook page before the murders. This suggests that either he premeditated the killings or went through some sort of crisis before the incident. “WHO WANNA DIE TODAY? Y’all don’t believe me? Come show me I’m not god,” one message read. Another took an even stranger turn. “Hey I really am god truly everyone I’m trying to help you all but I came to terms y’all got too comfy in hell I’m not trying to take peoples money when I say donate to $WoozyTheGoat I’m trying to show y’all new life.”

Meanwhile, this echoes another gruesome story that took place in 2013, when a Chicago rapper put out a hit on his mother. However, that case seemed directly motivated by money. Moreover, a then-23-year-old Young QC, real name Qaw’mane Wilson, hired a hitman to attack his mother. Afterwards, he took all the money in her bank accounts and modified the Mustang that he received as a gift from her. In addition, he posted a YouTube video the same year of him withdrawing $20,000 from a Chase Bank and throwing it out to fans.
Wilson then got hit with a 99-year prison sentence, whereas the shooter Eugene Spencer received 100 years of jail time. According to reports, Wilson “merely nodded” as the judge read his sentence. Disturbingly, the now-33-year-old had some words to say about the incident. “I just want to say, nobody loved my mother more than me,” he reportedly expressed. “She was all I had.
