Kendrick Lamar’s Mural In Compton Gets Vandalized Again

Kendrick Lamar must be living rent free in some people’s heads right now. A video is currently spreading across X (Twitter) of Kung Fu Kenny’s mural in Compton vandalized once more. Yes, in just the last few months, the West Coast icon’s stunning artwork is now tarnished to some degree. The first instance occurred back in September just a few days after he was announced as the Super Bowl Halftime Show performer. A man walked up to it with black spray paint and wrote “OVIO,” while also crossing out the eyes on each of the three faces of Lamar. This all went down just two months after the mural was put up in the MC’s hometown.

There’s a good chance that this act helped inspire Kendrick to pen the opening GNX cut “wacced out murals.” If you remember, he begins the song with, “Yesterday, somebody whacked out my mural / That energy’ll make you n****s move to Europe / But it’s regular for me, yeah, that’s for sure / The love and hate is definite without a cure / All this talk is b****-made, that’s on my Lord.” Well, Lamar might have to make a part two or make this into a series now, because we are afraid the vandalizing won’t stop here.

Kendrick Lamar Still Has Some Folks Mad

That’s especially true after this second case. As you can see from the video above, the original black spray paint was never removed. Now, there are some light blue “X” marks over the flanking busts of Lamar, in addition to some red “$$” on the first one on the left. But the most glaring difference is that the largest image of Lamar on the wall is completely blacked out.

In the second clip above, the man decides to show his face and record himself painting over the artwork. This looks to have been done back on November 25, or that’s at least what the Instagram video suggests. If that’s true, then that’s just three days after the release of GNX. Fans are just confused as to why the man would reveal his identity and only paint the middle Lamar bust. “Why is he doing that? also showing his face like that?” one X user questions. If there’s one thing for sure, K. Dot is still public enemy number one for a lot of people. It makes sense though, he is King Kendrick after all.

King Von Fan Goes Viral For Cleaning Up His Vandalized O-Block Mural

A fan of King Von appears to have cleared up his mural in Chicago after the artwork was vandalized, earlier this week. Images from O-Block showed “Andy [hearts] Suki,” tagged over the original image of the later rapper. Akademiks and other popular social media accounts have since shared a video of a girl clearing it off. “If anybody asks who cleaned this, Melody By Lena,” she said in the video.

Fans on Instagram have been having mixed responses to the viral clip. “She had ta make dat as street as possible ‘fvck is u talking about’ …’fvck is u talm bout’ relax Mel Mel,” one user joked. Others came to her defense with one user writing: “She wasn’t alone. Them members from the O was watching her back [laughing emoji] yall need to stay out Chicago business.”

The vandalism occurred just days after authorities arrested Lil Durk for allegedly orchestrating an attempted murder of Quando Rondo. In their complaint, they alleged: “Banks [Lil Durk] put a monetary bounty out for an individual with whom Banks was feuding named T.B. Banks ordered T.B.’s murder and that the hitmen used Banks and OTF-related finances to carry out the murder.” It went on to allege that the move was in retaliation for the 2020 killing of King Von.

Check out the viral clip of a fan helping out with the mural below. As for Lil Durk, authorities arrested him in Miami as he approached the airport with several international flights allegedly booked. He’ll likely be transported to Los Angeles to face the charges, as that’s where the alleged crime took place. King Von Mural In O-Block Vandalized Just Days After Lil Durk Arrest

The Lil Durk arrest has caused a lot of controversy among fans of drill rap, whether for musical, personal, or legal reasons. A lot of folks who were always critical of the genre’s subject matter and public scandals are now bolstered by the allegations of murder-for-hire conspiracy to double down on their distaste. Sadly, this aversion – whether for these deep reasons or just fooling around – can lead to disrespect. For example, a mural of Durk’s late colleague King Von was vandalized in the O-Block neighborhood of Chicago just days after Smurk’s arrest.

At press time, we don’t know the context of the displayed message, who vandalized the mural, or why. But as you can see in the comments section under the Instagram post below, there are a lot of divided reactions to this. Some think that folks never would have done this if Lil Durk wasn’t in custody, while others believe someone with the allegations that King Von has should never have a mural to begin with. While there’s nothing connecting this to The Voice’s arrest, fans can’t help but link the two and speculate on how this reflects possible reactions to the federal case.

For those unaware, U.S. Marshals arrested Lil Durk last week on charges of alleged murder-for-hire conspiracy. In fact, federal authorities’ accusations regarding this alleged crime possibly and partially relate to King Von. The Windy City rapper allegedly ordered a hit on Quando Rondo in retaliation for Von’s murder. Furthermore, the allegations include claims that he paid for five alleged members of his OTF collective’s travel to California in 2022 to carry out the alleged hit. A shooting in Los Angeles in Rondo’s vicinity took the life of his cousin Lul Pab. Officials arrested these five alleged OTF members in Chicago, and Durk’s arrest in Florida followed.

Elsewhere, this mural vandalization isn’t the only recent connection that fans made between King Von and Lil Durk. Fans also called attention to the latter’s lyrics seemingly referencing the late rapper on his feature on G Herbo’s new album Big Swerv 2.0, specifically on the track “In The Air.” Amid many rumors and discussions, it’s important to note that these are just allegations at the end of the day, and that a lot of these conversations are purely based on speculative fan theories and interpretations. While all of this is very controversial and heavy, folks don’t have to resort to vandalism and disrespect of the dead to make their voices heard.

Kendrick Lamar’s Compton Mural Vandalized With “OVO” Message

Someone in Los Angeles appears to have vandalized a mural of Kendrick Lamar in his hometown of Compton. In a video circulating on social media, the person sprays black paint over three images of Lamar’s face in the mural, which is situated outside of Honduras Restaurant Mi Sabor. For the final picture, they write out OVO, a reference to Drake’s October’s Very Own brand. Lamar and Drake have been feuding for months at this point.

One image from the mural shows Lamar accepting the key to the city of Compton in February 2016 while a second shows him accepting the Best Rap Album award for Mr. Morale & The Big Steppers at the 65th Grammy Awards. There is also a reference to the cover artwork for his iconic album, good Kid, m.A.A.d City. It appears that the artist finished it earlier this summer.

The vandalism comes after the NFL announced that Lamar will be headlining the Super Bowl LIX Halftime Show in New Orleans. In sharing the news on Instagram, Lamar trolled Drake in a video on the platform. He remarked: “You know it’s only one opportunity to win a championship — no round twos.” Drake had recently teased being ready for a “Game 2” on his Instagram Story. Not everyone has been happy with the move. Many fans have complained that Lil Wayne should’ve headlined the event, which is taking place in his hometown. Cam’ron called out JAY-Z for his role in choosing Lamar on the latest episode of It Is What It Is.

Kendrick Lamar Gets A New Mural In Compton

Some folks may already be feeling “Not Like Us” fatigue, but that certainly isn’t the case in Kendrick Lamar’s hometown of Compton, Los Angeles, California. The city has always been proud of K.Dot and vice versa, and with a stellar year for him so far, it’s only natural that Compton’s artists would want to pay tribute. Moreover, a new mural dedicated to the former TDE lyricist recently made some waves online, which depicts him receiving the Key to the City of Compton in 2016 on one side of a portrait and him winning the Best Rap Album award at the 2023 Grammys for Mr. Morale & The Big Steppers on the other.

As far as rap artists, though, many of them have commented on Kendrick Lamar’s explosive beef with Drake, with the latest take coming from Latto in a new interview. “I ain’t going to lie: I liked it!” she remarked. “I liked the back-and-forth, I thought it was healthy for the culture. It just felt nostalgic. I don’t think our generation has even seen a rivalry like that, I f***ed with it. I feel like it’s two n***as that’s killing this s**t and they both so talented, and they both on they high horse flexing their talent and capabilities. They both still that n***as, they both still the GOAT. That s**t fire for the culture.”

Kendrick Lamar’s New Compton Mural

Even rock bands are joining the praise of Kendrick Lamar and Drake, although one of these MCs definitely has gotten it in more of a backhanded manner. For example, the Red Hot Chili Peppers recently did some shows in Toronto. As a thank-you message to their fans in the city on Instagram, they posted a picture of Kendrick waving goodbye in the “Not Like Us” music video. Pretty cheeky, no?

Meanwhile, there’s even a “Not Like Us” video game out now, so pretty much every corner of pop culture seems to be loving Kendrick Lamar right now. We can’t blame them; we just wish that we would get more music outside of this whole Drake thing. If all is fair and just, then both MCs would drop even better material later this year that has nothing to do with each other. Both of their cities and fanbases are ready for it, and they deserve to be great without it being at the other’s expense.

Drake Allegedly Disrespected In Streets Of Compton With Bloodied “BBL Drizzy” Mural

It is no secret that Drake’s name is getting dragged through the mud and then some as of late. Most people have crowned Kendrick Lamar the winner, especially after “The Heart Part 6” was widely panned. With the diss tracks seemingly at a permanent halt, people are making sure to remind The Boy that he took a massive L. Metro Boomin has been an instigator, applauding Lil Wayne for spinning “Not Like Us” at a recent show. He even played his diss beat at a St. Louis Cardinals game the other night. The entire state of California has clearly showed who they believe has taken the W. That point has been hammered home, especially after a supposed sighting of a “BBL Drizzy” mural popping up in Compton.

This wall art was found by a user on X (formerly Twitter), and it is quite the “kick to the family jewels,” for lack of a better word. In the short clip below, it zooms in on a depiction of Drake all beaten up and bloody in a yellow tracksuit. Next to “BBL Drizzy” it says, “They not like us,” a clear reference to Lamar’s final diss. Then, the person behind the camera pans left, portraying Kendrick as one of his many aliases.

This Is Brutal For “BBL Drizzy”

They decided to show him as Kung Fu Kenny essentially kicking the crap out of Drake. It is a real disrespectful way to literally paint him. To us, it conveys the utter hatred for the Canadian multi-hyphenate and it seems it is only growing. Even though the diss tracks are no more, this beef is far from over.

What are your thoughts on this “BBL Drizzy” mural popping up in Compton? Have you ever seen a rapper get this much hate thrown his/her way, why or why not? Who do you claim as the winner of the Kendrick Lamar and Drake beef? We would like to hear what you have to say, so be sure to leave your takes in the comments section. DMX & Mary J Blige Celebrated With Mural In Yonkers Inspired By 2Pac

DMX and Mary J Blige are the subjects of a new mural in Yonkers, New York at Palisade Towers. The mural, titled “Together,” comes in at 78-foot wide by 18-foot-high. Mayor Mike Spano, Yonkers Housing Authority (YHA) CEO Wilson Kimball, Yonkers Arts Executive Director Ray Wilcox, and Artist Robin Alcantara were all on site to unveil it on Thursday.

“It is always a proud day when we can highlight the accomplishments of our city’s residents,” Mayor Spano said. “The talents and accomplishments of these local heroes is an inspiration to us all and a reminder that even those who come from humble beginnings can achieve great things.” Spano previously unveiled another DMX mural back in 2021.

Wilcox explained that the mural, which depicts a rose growing from concrete, was inspired by a poem from 2Pac. Kimball added that the mural will both inspire local residents and bring beauty to an urban area. “When we are surrounded by beauty we are inspired to do our best, and be our best,” she said. “This mural by Robin Alcantara celebrates African American culture and artists who were able to overcome their surroundings and rise to greater things.” Alcantara, the artist, said: “Being able to paint these walls in Yonkers is a dream come true and I am grateful to be able to work with you to bring murals to the city.” Check out a video from the unveiling below.

J Cole Honored With North Carolina Mural Amidst Kendrick Lamar Beef

J Cole is hip-hop royalty in Fayetteville, North Carolina. Overall, the rapper has always shown love to his hometown through his music and his actions. North Carolina, in return, has shown him love with a brand new mural. The mural in question was unveiled on April 2, and features a sprawling portrait of the rapper next to the phrase: “Welcome to Fayetteville.” Furthermore, it’s located on the side of a record store in downtown Fayetteville (naturally).

New York-based graffiti artist Andulaz The Artist created the mural. Andulaz posted images of the mural on his Instagram account with the caption: “I had lots of fun working on this piece. The community was really loving and embracing.” Additionally, the post received widespread praise from fans, who felt that it was a very fitting tribute to everything J. Cole has achieved in his career up to this point. The mural could not have been more perfectly timed, as the rapper’s annual Dreamville Fest is set to begin on April 6th. The fest will run throughout the weekend and feature performances from Cole and other rap stars like Nicki Minaj, 50 Cent and ScHoolboy Q.

Overall, Dreamville Fest has generated millions of dollars each year for the local economy, according to the label’s official website. According to HipHopDX, the festival generated a whopping $145 million in 2023 alone. This is not the first time that J. Cole’s charitable efforts have been recognized. North Carolina declared March 1 “J. Cole Day” back in 2012, which prompted him to release the documentary J. Cole Forest Hills Drive: Homecoming on HBO in 2016.

The mural and festival serve as a respite of sorts for J. Cole, who is currently in the midst of a beef with Kendrick Lamar. Overall, the Compton rapper took shots at Cole and Drake on the recent track “Like That,” which has some fans anticipating a response from the other 2/3 of the so-called Big 3. However, Cole has not publicly acknowledged the diss. Although he has thrown subliminal shots at Lamar in the past, so many are many who believe there’s more to come from Fayetteville’s favorite son.

Boosie Badazz Pays Tribute To His Fallen Friends On Murals Of His Mansion

Boosie Badazz’s mansion has been a big part of his headlines these days, although an unfortunate recent example involved a stalker at his home. However, there are many more reasons to be interested and invested in this property, and all those reasons are lost souls that he wants to honor and pay tribute to. Moreover, the Baton Rouge rapper recently got a mural at his mansion that features the likenesses of four of his friends who passed away. What’s more is that he also revealed plans to add another wall of tributes around his pool, yet it’s a bit unclear if they will depict other deceased loved ones or other gems in his life.

Of course, Boosie Badazz not only wants to pay tribute to those who aren’t around anymore, but also to stamp his name in the game and make sure his legacy lives on. This provoked a recent spat with Ye, who claimed that he invented the popular styles of music of the past 20 years. The 41-year-old took strong issue with this statement, offering himself up as an example of important hip-hop (and music at large) that exists outside of the Yeezy orbit of influence. While some fans debated this point heavily, it’s hard to argue that taking credit for all music of the past two decades is an exaggeratory statement.

You know how many rappers I raised out there, bro?” Boosie recently remarked during an Instagram livestream. “Like, who don’t give me my flowers. Everybody quiet bro. They don’t wanna be looked at, they don’t wanna be on my side and be looked at like you supporting Boosie. That’s what I be thinking it is. But, they’ll give Kanye his flowers, people like that. But, Boosie, you know.”

Meanwhile, the Trill Entertainment MC recently hosted his titular Bash with a lot of special guests. It was overall a pretty fun affair from the looks of it. More importantly for him, most likely, it’s a space to celebrate his craft, the people that helped him along the way, the people he continues to help, and those who aren’t around to see the fruits of their labor. Taylor Swift In A Ravens Jersey Is The Latest Piece Of AFC Championship Trash Talk

A Maryland-based artist and Ravens fan has taken trash-talking to a new level with his latest Taylor Swift-inspired piece. The artist, known as Dlordink on social media, showcased an intricate mural of Taylor Swift wearing a Ravens jersey ahead of the team’s matchup against the Chiefs this weekend. Furthermore, Dlordink called out Swift and her boyfriend, Travis Kelce. “Tag @taylorswift & @killatrav in the comments and let them know how good she looks in @new_era8 @ravens purple,” he added as a caption.

Swift is expected to head to Baltimore this week as the Chiefs look for their third Super Bowl appearance in four years. However, the Ravens are hosting for the first time in franchise history. This ends a run of five consecutive championship home games for Kansas City. Meanwhile, Chiefs fans have tried to play off the trash talk. “Huh. Weird. I have to say, as a Chiefs fan, we kinda…don’t think about you at all. But whatever makes you feel better about things. Enjoy the crab cakes,” one fan replied on Twitter.

Meanwhile, another piece of media has gotten under Swift’s skin. The singer is considering legal action against the proprietors of a website that published NSFW AI images of her on social media this week. “Whether or not legal action will be taken is being decided. But there is one thing that is clear: these fake AI-generated images are abusive, offensive, exploitative, and done without Taylor’s consent and/or knowledge. These images must be removed from everywhere they exist and should not be promoted by anyone. Taylor’s circle of family and friends are furious, as are her fans obviously. They have the right to be, and every woman should be. The door needs to be shut on this. Legislation needs to be passed to prevent this and laws must be enacted.” a Swift team member told The Daily Mail.

Furthermore, Swifties rallied around the star as the images. Additionally, these images primarily showed Swift in sexual situations with Chiefs fans and players. “PROTECT TAYLOR SWIFT” began trending on X, with the accounts primarily responsible for perpetuating the images swiftly suspended. However, the incident served to highlight the devastating power that current AI image technology has regarding things such as “celebrity deepfakes”.
