Video footage from her show in Houston, Texas shows legendary songstress Monica appearing to pass out while performing onstage.
In her show on Saturday night(December 30), Monica was singing her hit song “Angel Of Mine”, but not long after it was reported that Monica was seen being carried backstage by her security detail. it was also reported that Monica was transported from the venue in an ambulance, but that has yet to be confirmed.
Monica has admitted to dealing with a heart condition known as mitral valve prolapse, which she was diagnosed with when she was just 18 after passing out while on tour. When speaking on her ailment, the R&B songstress said, “Everything in front of me basically began to go from color to black-and-white, fading in and out. I walked to the side of the stage to ask for help and collapsed into one of our staff people’s arms.”
Last week R&B singer Monica confirmed that she was in a new relationship after she was spotted with her new man at Nelly’s Black & White Ball. Fans began to ask Monica about rapper C-Murder.and she admitted they were no longer a couple after he broke her heart.
Now Cory responds to the claims in a post shared on Instagram Cory questions why a person would publicly bash someone fighting for their life and says if you want to talk about something it should be prison reform:
I don’t know why someone feels the need to publicly bash a person that’s fighting for their life??
I am a black male fighting and hoping for freedom one day. Wanna speak on something?? Let’s talk about freeing us Louisiana inmates still held illegally and unconstitutionally by a racist Jim Crow law through a non-retroactive 10/2 non unanimous jury. Facts.
I am asking all celebrities against RACISM to visit this website: www.louisianabusinessesagainstracistlaws.com and retweet to help relieve modern day slavery and to sign our petition for freedom. Thanks.
Last night, Nicki Minaj dropped her anticipated Pink Friday 2 album. Spanning 22 tracks, the record highlighted collaborations with Drake, J. Cole, and many more. However, that doesn’t seem to be all. Minaj has been teasing that there will be a deluxe version — and here’s what to know about it.
When Will Nicki Minaj’s Pink Friday 2 Deluxe Come Out?
Minaj revealed that starting either Monday or Tuesday of next week, she’ll be dropping one track per day. This would continue until next Friday, providing four songs in total to complete the project. While it’s still TBA if there will be any other songs that will count toward a Pink Friday 2 deluxe after this, at the very least, fans will get to hear even more new music.
She also dropped some hints about two of the potential added features on the bonus tracks for next week. “Two of the names on a very important song rhyme with Schmechia Schmole & Schmonica,” Minaj wrote. (It’s Keyshia Cole and Monica.)
Based on this teaser alone, fans are extremely excited to hear the new collab — and any other surprises Minaj will have in store.
Check out her post about the schedule for next week below.
Next week#GagCity welcomes a new edition every day beginning Monday or Tuesday. Every day until Friday, you’ll get an add’l song that completes my fave body of work to date. 4 more songs.

Two years ago R&B singer Monica seemed to have rekindled her relationship when she professed her love for rapper C-Murder and vowed to do everything she could to get him out of jail. Now Monica has moved on to her new beau and has revealed that the incarcerated C-Murder broke her heart from behind bars. The Atlanta songbird broke the news after she was spotted with her new man at Nelly’s Black & White Ball and fans asked about C-Murder.
OMGGGGG I haven’t said his name in 2 yrs can yall follow my lead like yall did when I brought him up one band one sound
Well, here it is in short! I got my heartbroken (again) and that’s ok! learned yet another valuable lesson! I went through it, got over it ,now I can laugh about it ! Life continues ! I feel great that through it he has representation to one day be free! Let’s move forward
Nicki Minaj’s Instagram Live sessions are usually solo, so when someone else is there to share the fun, her fans get quite excited. Moreover, her most recent special guests on her IG Live this week were two R&B stars: Keyshia Cole and Monica. The trio chopped it up with some light teases and jokes, some freestyle sessions, and they even landed on a group name for when they– hopefully– release music together: “Mo’Nicki Cole.” Speaking of which, this got some fans immediately speculating that the two singers will appear on the Trinidadian MC’s Pink Friday 2, an album that has a lot of hype behind it and is just days away from bursting onto the scene.
Furthermore, Nicki Minaj has built up this release a lot. That’s not just by talking about how good it is or sharing inspirations with fans, but also with bars, song snippets, and a promise that she’s turning up the heat on the mic against her opposition. In fact, the month-or-so delay seems to have benefitted the 40-year-old, since there isn’t much else on the radar that could hamper its success. Regardless, we’ll just have to wait and see what’s in store for us next Friday (December 8) to see if all this anticipation will have been worth it.
Nicki Minaj’s IG Livestream With Keyshia Cole & Monica: Watch
However, another interesting part of this IG Live is that Keyshia Cole has some interesting history with Nicki Minaj… well, not with her, but with her fans. As you all likely know, the Barbz are quick to defend their Queen at all costs, especially against other femcee “foes” like Cardi B, which is more of a fanbase war these days than any real beef between them. Furthermore, when Cole shouted out Cardi’s music after she did the same for hers, Nicki fans blasted her online. She asked fans to keep her out of the “fan rivalry” and said that she’s free to enjoy either hip-hop titan.
Meanwhile, maybe this will give Monica a boost in terms of public recognition, as she recently expressed that the industry forgot about her in her eyes. She certainly deserves as much, and if nothing else, this trio seemed to have a lot of fun together during their IG Live sessions. Fingers crossed for a collab! Monica has certainly had a fulfilling musical career over the years. Contrarily, the R&B icon’s romantic relationships seem to have always been found wanting more. As a result, they have all eventually come to an end but not all hope is lost.
Her last known relationship ended in 2019. Since then, the singer has mostly kept mute about developments in her love life. That is, of course, until recently when she subtly announced that she has a new man. Indeed, Monica seems to have found love again, and her fans can’t help but be happy for her. The singer definitely hasn’t had it easy when it comes to matters of the heart. Regardless, she has chosen to let love in once again, and we are rooting for the superstar. Here’s a look at Monica’s dating history from the late ‘90s until now.
It is unclear when exactly Monica and Weems started dating, but it must have been sometime in the late ‘90s. Monica’s relationship came to a very sad and abrupt end in 2000 following a shocking incident. Weems’ brother had died in an accident in 1998, and unknown to Monica, her then-boyfriend was dealing with an overwhelming amount of grief. In July 2000, when Monica and Weems paid a visit to the resting place of Weems’ late older brother, the 24-year-old unexpectedly committed suicide. He reportedly locked himself in their car and shot himself fatally.
Monica and C-Murder dated in the early 2000s before things fell apart. The media is not quite certain when exactly they started dating, but it is safe to assume it happened after Weems’ demise. The rapper was convicted in 2003 for the 2002 murder of 16-year-old Steve Thomas at a nightclub in Harvey, Louisiana. The case has been highly controversial, with C-Murder maintaining his innocence throughout the legal proceedings. However, he was sentenced to life in prison and has already served time there for over a decade. Monica has visited him a couple of times in recent years, sparking rumors about the two being back together. She has always made it known that she believes he’s innocent, and is determined to help free him.
Monica and rapper Rocko were in an on-and-off relationship in the early 2000s. However, things got reasonably stable between them after they welcomed their first child in May 2005. Subsequently, the couple got engaged on December 24, 2007, just a few weeks before the arrival of their second child in 2008. Their relationship ended about two years later. On March 11, 2010, Monica revealed via X (formerly Twitter) that she and Rocko were no longer together. In a conversation with VIBE, she shared that she would always have love for him. “When I met him, I was only 19 years old and the good definitely outweighed the bad over the years,” she said. “So we don’t have any hard feelings towards one another.”
Shannon Brown (2010-2019)
Monica met the former NBA player in June 2010 while shooting the music video for her song “Love All Over Me.” The pair quickly developed a romantic relationship and got engaged in October 2010. Soon afterward, they got married in a secret ceremony at their Los Angeles home. The ceremony took place on November 22, 2010, and was followed by a second wedding in July 2011, organized for friends and family to attend.
Monica and Brown have a daughter together named Laiyah, born in September 2013. In the years that followed, their relationship seemed stable, and they shared glimpses of their family life on social media. However, it seems that the challenges they faced privately could not be overcome. In March 2019, Monica filed for divorce, and by October of that same year, it was finalized.
Monica’s new romance is very fresh, at least to fans of the singer, and the media. For all we know, the two may have been together for a while. Regardless, Monica only let it be known very recently that she has a new man. Specifically, she shared the news on her 43rd birthday, on October 24, 2023. Wilson, who is apparently Chris Brown’s manager, posted a photo with Monica on Instagram with the caption “Happy birthday, babe.” Monica, putting the post up on her Instagram story, replied, “Thank you, my love, you’ve treated me like every day was my birthday….”
It is incontestable that Monica is an R&B icon. She has been active in the music industry since 1991, and throughout her career, she has made a significant impact on R&B. Renowned for her powerful and soulful voice, Monica is a spectacular singer. Additionally, she can convey deep emotions through her songs, and her passionate delivery gives her a peculiar edge.
In the 1990s, Monica completely dominated the R&B charts, producing several chart-topping hits. While Monica may not have had any chart-toppers in recent years, the singer has stayed active, and her legacy remains intact. Paying homage to a living legend in R&B, here are seven of Monica’s biggest hits.
“Like This And Like That” ft. Mr. Malik (1995)
“Like This And Like That” was released in 1995 as the second single from Monica’s debut album, Miss Thang. Produced by Dallas Austin and Colin Wolfe, the song incorporates elements of Hip Hop and R&B, creating a groovy beat with a funky bassline. “Like This And Like That” captures the essence of ‘90s R&B and Hip Hop fusion. The song quickly became a fan favorite upon its release and reached No. 7 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. The track remains a nostalgic gem for fans of ‘90s R&B and Monica’s early artistry.
“Before You Walk Out Of My Life” (1995)
This soulful R&B ballad was released alongside “Like This And Like That” as the second single from Miss Thang. The song’s production features a smooth melody, subtle piano chords, and a mellow rhythm. These elements blend together to create a soulful atmosphere that complements Monica’s heartfelt vocals. Monica was only 14 years old at the time of the song’s release, but even at such a young age, her music resonated with a wide range of audiences. Consequently, the song became a commercial success and peaked at No. 7 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart.
“For You I Will” (1997)
This slow-burning pop and R&B ballad by Monica was featured on the soundtrack of the 1996 movie Space Jam. The heartfelt melody, gentle piano chords, and soaring orchestral arrangement featured in “For You I Will” help enhance the emotional impact of the song. However, Monica’s vocals remain the centerpiece throughout the track, conveying a deep sense of commitment and love. The song received critical acclaim and achieved commercial success. Continuing her Top 10 Hot 100 streak, the song peaked at No. 4 on the chart. It became the singer’s sixth single to peak within the Top 10.
“Don’t Take It Personal (Just One Of Dem Days)” (1995)
Monica achieved her breakthrough single with “Don’t Take It Personal,” which awarded the singer her first Top 10 hit on the Hot 100 chart. It was the lead single from her debut album and is still one of her most successful songs. Evidently, even at 14, she was widely recognized as a star, and rightly so. The song’s success was no fluke, as Monica’s smooth vocals and relatable lyrics contributed to its widespread appeal. In addition, her delivery added depth to the track, making it resonate more with listeners. Moreover, “Don’t Take It Personal” was a massive hit and reached the No. 2 spot on the Hot 100 chart.
“Angel of Mine” (1998)
This song was originally recorded by British girl group Eternal in 1997 and was released with considerable success. However, it was Monica’s version that catapulted “Angel of Mine” to worldwide acclaim and commercial success. Monica released the single in 1998 as part of her sophomore studio album, The Boy is Mine. Owing to the song’s appeal, over time, it topped the Hot 100 chart, becoming one of the singer’s most successful singles. Without a doubt, Monica is a phenomenal singer, and this is one of the best songs that showcase her vocal prowess.
“The First Night” (1998)
“The First Night” was released on July 28, 1998, as the second single from Monica’s album The Boy Is Mine. The song was written by Tamara Savage and Jermaine Dupri, with production by Dupri. Featuring a smooth blend of Hip Hop and R&B, the song further explores themes of love, desire, and temptation. In no time, the track rose to the very top of the Hot 100 chart after its release. Obviously, listeners loved the song, and it has remained a favorite amongst fans of Monica even until now. Undoubtedly, “The First Night” is a standout track in the singer’s discography and Monica’s biggest hit, save for one song.
“The Boy Is Mine” is a Grammy Award-winning R&B duet by Monica and Brandy. Released in 1998, the song quickly became a massive hit and a defining moment in both artists’ careers. Given that the song brought together two of the most prominent R&B artists of that era, its success was expected. However, no one could have predicted it would become such a monster hit. “The Boy Is Mine” became a cultural phenomenon, leaving a lasting impact on the music industry. To sum up its impact, it can be said to be a quintessential R&B duet and is certainly one of the greatest of all time. It was Monica’s first No. 1 single on the Hot 100 chart, topping several other charts in the US and beyond.
During a live conversation for Uninterrupted’s The Shop, Monica recently confessed feeling like the music industry forgot about her. Of course, it’s not like her career came and went with no impact at all. The Georgia singer had an incredibly successful run at the turn of the century, whether with her Billboard chart-topping hits or with her various appearances in movies and TV. Still, with all that in the rearview mirror, she feels like a bit of a footnote in the grand scheme of things. Despite these reservations, the 42-year-old is still grateful for what she has enjoyed in her career, and all the happiness to come.
“What I learned in those moments is that there’s a plan for all of our lives,” Monica expressed. “It’s orchestrated by somebody bigger than every person in this room. What was meant to happen was for my life to change that day. And I was able to really enjoy my career because I didn’t have any expectations.
“I was not looking at stats, I was not worried about awards,” Monica continued. “I’m actually a person that, for all the records that I’ve broken, I really have never won any awards. I’m really the most forgotten. If you think about it, I’m pretty much the underdog, but I sit very comfortably in it. Because I can still go where I want, do what I want, live how I want. But when I say that I am often forgotten, I was hosting the Soul Train Awards! Was nominated for five, three of my songs in one category, and still lost. But I went out to eat and kick my regular s**t after! I was not bothered because that’s not what I do it for. That is really my point when I say that, often times, I’m forgotten in those spaces.”
Meanwhile, there is definitely one fan of hers that will not forget about her anytime soon. The “Like This and Like That” hitmaker jumped into the crowd at a recent performance to defend a woman after a man hit her. With actions and statements like that in mind, it’s clear that she has her priorities in check. For more news and updates on Monica, stay logged into HNHH.
Monica is reflecting on a moment when she left the stage to go into the crowd of the Riverfront Music Festival to stop the assault of a woman. Appearing on CNN Primetime, Monica wanted to ensure the woman was not harmed.
“Simply put, I didn’t want to see her hurt or harmed, and her not make it back home after coming just to be a concertgoer for myself and Ashanti who was also on the show,” Monica said. “These concerts have become what almost feels like a dangerous space and place, and I just really want that to change.”
Monica stated that her instincts kicked in but that does not make her a super hero. “I did what I would hope that someone would do if they saw that happening to my aunt or mother. She’s definitely elder. And there was a level of fear there for me, just watching what appeared to be a situation that could have been escalated even further, I was simply trying to de-escalate it.”
In a video online, Monica was performing at the Riverfront Music Festival in Detroit when she noticed a woman get punched in the crowd. She stopped her performance to address the fan.
Monica apologized on the stage but would also issue another statement on Instagram in The Shade Room’s comments:
“I apologized there & I’m apologizing here for my actions but no one would take action ! I was so triggered , I watched & she didn’t appear to even know him! It appeared to be about space during a packed concert! He punched her with ALL his strength! My intentions were to prevent her from being hit again & she wasn’t ! I asked for help, it fell on deaf ears! It was like seeing my mother or an aunt be assaulted!! This woman was 50+ I pray she’s ok! Happy Sunday to everyone!”
Monica will not stand for any violence against women, especially at her shows. Monica stopped in the middle of her set and hopped off stage to stand up for a woman that was being assaulted in the crowd.
