Kodak Black Delivers 21 New Tracks On “Pistolz & Pearlz”

Coming out of Florida, Kodak Black has quickly become one of the best rappers of the new school. Of course, he was part of that iconic XXL Freshman class from 2016. Overall, his cypher with 21 Savage, Lil Uzi Vert, Denzel Curry, and Lil Yachty was legendary. However, since that time, he has been able to keep up the success. He has released a plethora of hit albums and has a ton of massive songs to boot. Moreover, last year, he was hit with the ultimate co-sign as Kendrick Lamar put him on Mr. Morale & The Big Steppers.

Needless to say, Kodak Black is a massive artist with millions of adoring fans. These supporters are always waiting to hear what he is going to do next. Although he doesn’t always give updates, we did get some information last week. Kodak revealed to fans that Pistolz & Pearlz would be released today. If you checked your streaming service of choice this morning, you would have noticed that he delivered on this promise.

Kodak Black Blesses His Fans

This project is quite the undertaking as it has 21 tracks is over an hour long. Although the front half of the album has a lot of features, Kodak Black takes on the majority of the songs by himself. This is especially true on the back half of the track. That said, Kodak gives us a plethora of different sounds and there is no doubt that he continues to grow as an artist.

Overall, this is yet another solid effort from Kodak Black. Whether or not his fans agree, still remains to be seen. Let us know what you think of this album, in the comments section below. Additionally, stay tuned to HNHH for more news from around the music world.

Lil Durk Finally Drops His New Album, “Almost Healed”

After much anticipation, Lil Durk has finally released his new album, Almost Healed. This comes two weeks after the album was delayed during a heated feud between Durk and NBA YoungBoy. The rapper has been building up excitement over the past few months. He has been providing updates and teases, and recently dropped the album’s first single, “All My Life” featuring J. Cole. As expected, the single quickly climbed up the Billboard Hot 100. In fact, it matched the performance of Durk’s highest-charting single, Drake’s “Laugh Now Cry Later.” This single gave fans a taste of what they can expect from Almost Healed.

The tracklist for Durk’s new album is impressive, featuring a notable lineup of guest artists and producers. The inclusion of Kodak Black and Future has generated excitement, as their collaborations are likely to become summer anthems. However, what caught people off-guard was the unexpected appearance of Alicia Keys. The singer lends her vocals to the project’s intro, titled “Therapy Session,” which Durk previewed in the recent music video for “Pelle Coat,” the album’s second single released prior to its official drop.

Lil Durk Takes Us To Therapy In Second Video From “Almost Healed”

The music video for Lil Durk’s latest single “Pelle Coat” features a powerful introduction by Alicia Keys, who takes on the role of his therapist. Keys encourages Durk to express his vulnerabilities and emotions, creating a safe and non-judgmental space for him to freely share. The video follows Durk through the streets of Chicago, highlighting his friends, significant landmarks like a mural of King Von, and showcasing his introspective journey. It captures Durk in the backseat of a Suburban and praying with his father at a Mosque, effectively complementing the song’s themes and displaying Durk’s artistic maturity.

Lil Durk has recently been taking big steps to make positive changes. He wants to not only change himself but also his community. The album represents much of that mindset. That doesn’t mean it’s totally devoid of bangers, but there is a depth to much of it, as well. What do you think about Lil Durk’s Almost Healed? Be sure to let us know in the comments!

Belly & Hit-Boy’s Chemistry Thrives On “Mumble Rap 2” Ft. Gucci Mane, Rick Ross & More

One of Canada’s sharpest wordsmiths has, once again, proven that he’s a beast in his own right. Belly returned with the release of his highly-anticipated new album, Mumble Rap 2, executive produced by Hit-Boy. Marking the follow-up to See You Next Wednesday, Belly enlists a slew of heavy hitters for the anthem. Rick Ross, who Belly describes as one of his favorite rappers, appears on “Cocaine Spoon,” while Gucci Mane joins the rapper on “De La Hoya.” However, the XO presence looms heavily, as well, with Nav appearing on “Just Like Me.”

Perhaps, the most surprising inclusion on the tracklist comes from the late Gil Scott-Heron. The influential poet’s voice appears on “Loyalty v. Royalty,” a bluesy banger with production from Hit-Boy and Scott-Heron’s estate’s blessing. “We reached out. They were incredible, great about it. They just wanted to hear the record, heard the record. They were like, ‘Yeah. Done.’ Signed off on it,” Belly told HotNewHipHop in a recent interview. “Even for me, it was like, shocking because I had never tried to clear something like that.’”

Belly Unveils “Mumble Rap 2”

The latest effort from the rapper comes shortly after he announced that he has three albums left before stepping away from the music industry. Earlier this year, he confirmed that after Mumble Rap 2, he would hit the road before dropping two more albums and heading on a farewell tour. “I love yall with all my heart, sincerely, but this industry has taken it’s toll on me,” he wrote. “MR2 will be the first of my last three albums ever. Mini tour for MR2 then a farewell tour after my next 2.”

At this point, he hasn’t revealed any further details on his last two albums. However, it’s unlikely that we see the long-awaited Jay-Z collaboration land on either. The rapper previously teased a song titled “Midnight Zone” alongside the Roc Nation boss. But, in a recent interview with HotNewHipHop, he revealed the status of the record. “Honestly, I don’t know. I don’t think that’s gon’ be the case,” Belly explained when asked if the Jay-Z collab might appear on his future projects. “Just the fact I was able to get in the studio with Hov and just be in there and just to have him pull up to a couple of sessions – that’s a life-long dream for me right there.”

“Cocaine Spoon” Ft. Rick Ross

In addition to the release of Mumble Rap 2,  Belly also unveiled the official visuals for the single, “Cocaine Spoon” ft. Rick Ross. The new video comes after the release of both “American Nightmare” and “Ambiance,” which share a similar aesthetic to his latest video. Check it out above.

“Fast X” Is The Soundtrack You Should Be Listening To

Fast X hits theaters today, and the soundtrack just dropped along with it. The Fast and Furious films are one of the biggest film franchises in the world. As such, they enlisted an insane amount of artists for the soundtrack. Fast X‘s collection of original songs showcases a diverse lineup. Even the amount of genres included is practically unheard of: rap, pop, reggaetón, EDM, Latin pop, and more. Furthermore, prominent artists such as Lil Durk, NLE Choppa, Kodak Black, Babytron, Nardo Wick, EST Gee, BIA, G Herbo, and others are featured. Additionally, NBA YoungBoy contributed to the soundtrack. However, the single that he is featured on, “Won’t Back Down,” was released last week.

Considering the immense anticipation for Fast X, the inclusion of these highly-regarded artists really comes as no surprise. The franchise has established a reputation for impressive soundtracks. They’ve become known for their quality and star power. In fact, the music has always been a highlight in the franchise, and it has popularized many songs. This iteration of the soundtrack is sure to do the same.

“Fast X” Brings The Heat

The Fast X soundtrack comes in at around 45 minutes. It is pure adrenaline from start to finish, with numerous standout tracks. However, it also has its odd moments. For example, some of the songs are extremely short. “Furious,” which features BIA, is only 43 seconds long. It’s unclear why that is, particularly since the song is extremely catchy. It could have easily been expanded into a hit single. Still, it’s catchy enough to put on repeat a few times. Even with its sometimes odd features and short tracks, the soundtrack is a banger. What did you think? Let us know in the comments below!

Summer Walker Drops Dreamy “Clear 2: Soft Life” EP, Featuring Childish Gambino, J. Cole

The last time we heard new music from Summer Walker was in 2021. At that point, she released her second album, Still Over It. The record gave a behind-the-scenes look at her relationship with producer London On Da Track. The album became a certified hit, giving Walker her first No. 1 album on the Billboard 200 chart. Since then, the R&B songstress has lent her incredible talents to collaborations with the likes of Ari Lennox, Ciara, and The Weeknd. She has also expanded her family with the arrival of twin babies.

The artist first announced her Clear 2: Soft Life EP during Dreamville Festival a few weeks ago. Since then, her fans have been waiting with bated breath. Earlier this week, Walker decided to treat her fans to a sneak peek of the EP. In a video posted to social media, Walker is seen enjoying the company of her friends, Sexyy Red and Sukihana. They lounge by the pool and sample caviar in a comedic manner. Posing a humorous question, the singer asks, “So this is what the Caucasian people be eatin’?” Then, she finally revealed the details that fans have eagerly been waiting for. The video concluded with the project’s tracklist. Now, the wait is finally over.

Summer Walker Longs For The Soft Life

Summer Walker is back in fighting form on her new EP. It’s R&B perfection, equal parts soulful and sexy. The atmosphere of the project makes listening to it feel like a sort of fever dream. Walker is great enough on her own, but she also tapped artists like J. Cole and Childish Gambino to feature on the new effort.

While the features are certainly a highlight, the standout track is “Hardlife.” On it, the singer talks about her experience in relationships as a black woman. “Tired of seein’ all these, all these / Spanish and these white bitches,” Summer sings smoothly. “Livin’ they soft life with they feet kicked up / And they glass in hand, bills paid, thanks to the man.” Interestingly, on the final track, “Agayu’s Revelation,” Walker seems to have reached the conclusion that she can’t change someone who isn’t ready to change in a relationship.

  3. How Does It Feel

Kaytranada and Aminé Drop Collab Album “KAYTRAMINÉ”

It’s been a few months since Kaytranada and Aminé first announced their joint project, Kaytraminé. The pair have spent that time generating excitement among fans by teasing their highly anticipated self-titled album. Fans have been eagerly anticipating this release, and in April, they were finally given a preview with the duo’s first single under their new moniker. The track was called “4EVA,” and it featured none other than the iconic Pharrell Williams. Building on the anticipation, Kaytranada further piqued interest in the project during the initial weekend of Coachella, where he brought out Aminé to perform.

Recently, Kaytraminé released the artwork for the album. It exudes a warm and summery vibe, showing the duo relaxing on vibrant pink beach chairs. Aminé raises his champagne glass towards the camera, while Kaytranada is seen reclining, enjoying a joint. On the reverse side of the album, a broader perspective reveals more chairs and individuals in the surrounding area. It is there that they unveiled the tracklist, indicating the exciting features. Alongside the previously released track featuring Pharrell, fans noted the presence of collaborations with artists such as Snoop Dogg and Freddie Gibbs. Adding to the anticipation, Kaytranada and Aminé recently released another track called “Rebuke.” Now, fans can finally enjoy the album in full.

Kaytraminé Is A Match Made In Heaven

KAYTRAMINÉ, the album, is full of certified summer bangers. Not only is it chock-full of big features like Snoop Dogg and Pharrell Williams, it also has some surprisingly hard tracks. It’s an album that makes it difficult to pick a standout because every track has merit and can stand on its own. However, one track that stands out lyrically is “Westside.”

The track displays the antithesis to a typical rap bravado in a not-so-typical way. The wordplay feels fresh and clever, and Aminé’s flow is chill but biting. “This drink got me moving my jaw like I’m Drew / Barry more drinks in my stomach a pool,” Aminé raps. “Lord kill my ego, please take off the cool / I do not want to be compared to these fools.” The impressive wordplay alone is enough to check out the album. Have you listened to KAYTRAMINÉ yet? Sound off in the comments below.

Juice WRLD is an artist who has been beloved since bursting onto the scene five years ago. Of course, a lot of people were introduced to Juice through the song “Lucid Dreams.” Moreover, his debut project Goodbye & Good Riddance is a classic by today’s standards. Subsequently, Juice was able to follow up on his success on his next project. Unfortunately, his passing in 2019 was extremely hard to digest. It left a huge hole in the music world that has yet to be filled.

Since his passing, Juice WRLD’s estate has put out numerous posthumous albums. For the most part, fans have not loved this material. Russ Reveals New EP From CHOMP Series, “CHOMP 2.5”

New Jersey rapper Russ has released a new EP, titled CHOMP 2.5. The six-song EP is the artist’s third installment of his CHOMP series and features the work of various notable producers. Russ’ next full-length album is slated for this summer, titled CHOMP 3, with CHOMP 2.5 preceding its release. The EP features one self-produced track, “Wicked Race.” It also features contributions by producers Statik Selektah, Havoc, The Alchemist, Boi-1da, and 9th Wonder. The EP follows CHOMP (2020) and CHOMP 2 (2021). The EP and album notably feature artists like Snoop Dogg, Benny the Butcher, Busta Rhymes, and more.

Russ announced the release of CHOMP 2.5 yesterday, saying “CHOMP 2.5 @ MIDNIGHT.” The tweet led to fans’ excitement and was met with responses from users that “[can’t] wait” to hear the EP. The rapper then took to Twitter again shortly after the EP’s release. He shared that he “[loves]that people are havin to look up some of the bars and punchlines on CHOMP 2.5.” He added, “That’s the kind of rap I like.”

Russ Adds To Fan-Favorite Series

The EP explores themes of self-reflection and growth, with songs like “Perfectionist” about the artist “working on becoming the person” he wants to be. CHOMP 2.5 showcases the artist reminiscing about his past, and also celebrates his continuous, ever-changing journey to success.

Russ also shared a single earlier this month, titled “Fire.” The artist released “PUT YOU ON GAME” in January of this year, which he followed up shortly after with “Can’t Get This Right.” Several singles dropped over the months in 2022, which was also year of consistent releases for the artist. 2022 releases included “Home,” “BET,” “Last Night,” and more. Additionally, Russ discussed turning down $50 million for his music catalog in the song “Too Much” in December 2022. He also shared that he finished writing his second self-help book earlier this month. His first book titled “IT’S ALL IN YOUR HEAD,” debuted in 2019.

Quotable Lyrics:

I gave my twenties to the dream like Nivea (C’mon)
Created my own kingdom, all these hooks and verses are the Bridge to Terabithia (Yeah)
Kicked so many women to the curb, I hurt my tibia
Big body Bentley, call that shit Mr. Olympia

JasonMartin (FKA Problem) Unveils New Project “I Owe Myself”

JasonMartin, the artist formerly known as Problem, is carving out a new era in his career. The Compton legend has expanded well beyond the confines of hip-hop in recent years. Now, he’s undergone a name change that encompasses a new chapter in his career. Using his birth name, Chachi is back in action with his latest project, I Owe Myself. The 10-song project, produced entirely by The Melodiks, showcases JasonMartin’s maturity and evolution. Features from Terrace Martin, Nate Curry, Dea Galore, and more help shape up the project into one of JasonMartin’s best.

“It was time. Your name is everything when it comes to this business. Calling myself Problem at this stage of my life just felt irresponsible and counterproductive; especially when my whole existence has been built off creating solutions for others” JasonMartin said in a statement about his decision to change his name.  “I also felt that continuing my career using the name my parents gave me was bigger for the extension of my family tree.  Thank you 2 Chainz for giving me that extra push to do it.”

JasonMartin Emerges With I Owe Myself

I Owe Myself already gained incredible praise before its release. Terrence “Punch” Henderson of Top Dawg Entertainment praised the project on social media earlier this week. “I had the opportunity to listen to this album the other night.  Phenomenal music.  Problem has always been an elite MC, but the growth and truth in this body of work is truly inspiring.  Great work champion,” he said. The arrival of JasonMartin’s new album, I Owe Myself comes as he gets deeper into the world of film. The artist formerly known as Problem is set to appear in the upcoming reboot of White Men Can’t Jump starring Jack Harlow and Sinqua Walls.

For over a decade, JasonMartin’s blessed fans with a number of projects that cemented his place in the culture. In 2017, he blessed fans with back-to-back-to-back releases of Chachiville, Rosecrans with DJ Quik, and Selfish featuring Nipsey Hussle, IAMSU, Terrace Martin, Ne-Yo, and more. However, in recent years, he’s unveiled some equally incredible bodies of work, such as Coffee & Kush Vol 1 and 2 in 2020, which aligned with the launch of his brand of the same name.

Keke Palmer Drops First Full Album In A Decade, “Big Boss”

Keke Palmer has proven herself time and time again to be a multi-talented individual. She excels in singing, acting, and dancing. Keke rose to fame as the lead of the Nickelodeon show, True Jackson, VP, and has since garnered an Emmy Award for her acting skills. Her career has seen her take on significant roles in movies and TV shows, like her critically-lauded turn in Jordan Peele’s Nope. As time has gone on, Keke has managed to carve out a special place for herself in the industry. Even with her reputation as a living meme, she is taken very seriously as an actress and an artist. That kind of balance is not something just anyone can strike.

Keke Palmer’s fans have eagerly anticipated her project, Big Boss, for quite some time. The new effort is based on her personal experiences, drawing from her career as an actress and a singer. The album is accompanied by a 40-minute film. It features scenes inspired by Keke’s personal life. It is both entertaining and emotional – a perfect companion to the album, which can be described using the same adjectives.

Keke Details Her Journey To Self-Realization

Keke Palmer’s Big Boss opens strong with the track “Views.” On it, she sings about wondering if someone sees her in the same way she sees him. “I’m just tryna view,” she croons. “If you see me in the same light as you.” The album has very few low points, if any. The songs are as catchy as they come, too. “Love Language” is exactly the kind of R&B-Pop crossover that the summer needs. The album is impressive. Furthermore, Keke’s writing, direction, and performance in the Big Boss film only cement her status as an iconic, multi-faceted artist.

In the film, Keke takes on the male-dominated music industry and points out problems that are still very real for women in 2023. A music producer character in the film says, “They always want some sh*t, but they don’t wanna give some sh*t.” Of course, he is suggesting that women must sleep with him for the “honor” of having him produce their song. Around the halfway point, Keke reflects on interactions like this. “Silly me,” she narrates. “For thinking they would ever f*ck with me just off of the strength of my talent.” It’s a sobering scene that shows just how much the singer has had to deal with. Thankfully, she has come out on the other side stronger for it and producing great art like Big Boss and its accompanying film. What do you think of Keke Palmer’s new album? Be sure to let us know in the comments.
