Ransom Unleashes His Third Project Of The Year With “SPOIL THE ROD, SPARE THE CHILD”

It has been a busy year to say the least for Brooklyn’s own, Ransom. The storied career of this hip-hop artist will go down as one that is iconic but also underappreciated. A true wordsmith and intimidating MC, Ransom has been pumping quality since the late 2000s. Already this year, the prolific rapper has put out two EPs and an album to boot.

The first of which was the LP, Directors Cut 4. It featured artists such as Nicholas Craven, Che Noir, Tali Kweli, and more. Then, after that, only a couple of weeks went by before we were delightedly treated to Ransom’s first EP of the year with Deleted Scenes 2. That was a full collab effort with Nicholas Craven in the booth. The song titles were cleverly named after movie titles of different genres.

Killer Mike’s Deluxe Version Of “MICHAEL” Adds JID, T.I., Jacquees, And Young Nudy

Back on June 16, 2023, one-half of Run The Jewels released their first solo album in over 11 years. That would happen to be the Atlanta, Georgia native Killer Mike. It was a follow-up to his critically acclaimed R.A.P. Music and it delivered on many fronts. For example, Mike gathered a massive list of A-listers to help make a grand return. Some of those names include André 3000, Future, Young Thug, CeeLo Green, Ty Dolla $ign, and a plethora of others.

Mike also laced the stacked tracklists with great writing and storytelling on tracks like “MOTHERLESS” and “SCIENTISTS & ENGINEERS.” Finally, the production credits here are more than respectable. DJ Paul of Three 6 Mafia, André 3000, El-P, Honorable C.N.O.T.E., James Blake, and more assisted in the diversity of sounds. It was a tour de force for Killer Mike and he just added some more heat to the record.

Nas And Hit-Boy Complete Another Trilogy With “Magic 3”

Fans of Nas can breathe a sigh of relief, for now. Back on September 9, New York’s finest shared a teaser trailer of sorts to his Instagram account. It showed static from a television, then went to black with words being typed out to reveal, “THE FINALE.” Many people were freaking out thinking Nas was about to retire from rap, but those qualms are subsiding because that message hinted at something different. The cryptic note was referring to him dropping the final project in the Magic series with the third installment.

To celebrate this accomplishment in the best way possible, Nas decided to release this album on his birthday, September 14. Furthermore, this is now the sixth collaboration album between him and legendary producer, Hit-Boy. The duo’s work relationship is one that will go down in the history books as one of the greatest to ever do it, collectively. Since 2020, Nas and Hit-Boy have completed two trilogies with the King’s Disease series completed earlier this year. Now, the same can ring true for Magic as it goes out with a bang.

Bizzy Bone Drops Off Another Solo Project With “Tha Waste Lands”

Bone Thugs-n-Harmony is still making music together as of 2022, and one of the members is continuing that work ethic. One of those members is the youngest of the group, Bizzy Bone. The Columbus, Ohio native is maybe the most active of them all, dropping long projects year after year. Just last year, in 2022, the rapper put out six efforts. Five of them were either special or deluxe editions, while the other was an album called, I’m Busy.

It was Bizzy’s second offering of the year and one that came amid some controversy. There was a lot of information about the collective and whether or not Bone had issues with his groupmates. He shut those rumors up saying that, “Nowadays no made up drama nor immaturity can change camaraderie, love and friendship. Literally there are no problems with us. M Huncho is a melodic expert in the UK rap scene and he is back to show why he is once again. His innate ability to command melodies and undeniable rhythms makes him an intriguing name to keep your eye on. Especially, in a scene where drill is so prevalent across the pond, it helps Huncho stand out in a sea of copycats. It is a shame his audience has not grown as much or as quickly as others but his sound is very appealing.
