Horseshoe G.A.N.G. Repurposes 2021’s “SHADY PAST” For Spotify Release

Long Beach, California is where the rap outfit Horseshoe G.A.N.G. calls home. They have been delivering albums and mixtapes for a little over a decade now. To be exact, things got going for them in 2009 with their Circle of Bosses project. These guys thrive in the underground scene and are known for their fun lyrical abilities.

A couple of years ago Horseshoe G.A.N.G came out with an Eminem-inspired album, SHADY PAST. It made its way onto Apple Music in 2021 and if you listen to the songs you will notice something. A lot of the titles are reminiscent of Slim Shady’s most iconic tracks. However, that is not the only similar aspect of it.

Horseshoe G.A.N.G. also samples the beats from those hits as well. “Monster” features an interpolated beat of Em’s 2020 posthumous collab with Juice WRLD, “Godzilla.” For Spotify users, they were not able to enjoy the project. But, to celebrate its second anniversary, the group has decided to bring it to the other DSP powerhouse. The song titles are also tweaked a bit compared to the 2021 release. Stream the project now.

Maino Revives The “K.O.B.” Series After 6 Years With Fourth Installment

Underground rap in New York runs deep and Maino has been in it for about 15 and half years or so. What is even crazier is that he got his start when he was in his mid 30s. Now, as he enters his 50’s era, he really does not seem to be showing any signs of slow down at all. He has decided to comeback and bring a spark to his K.O.B. series.

It started back 2014 with the second entry. Then, Maino followed it up with number three, one year later. Finally in 2017, the pilot LP would hit streaming. Maino got the rollout started for the fourth K.O.B. in early April with “Vibe with Me.”

YTB Fatt Continues To Develop His Sound On Second Tape Of 2023 “Foxes Only”

If you are looking to discover some new rappers to add to your daily rotation but do not know where to start, head over to the city of Memphis. Right now, it is one of the key hotspots for new names and legends. However, the “old heads” are beginning to pass the torch in a way. But, these young bucks are not ignoring the greats that have paved the way for them. One of those artists is YTB Fatt.

He got his start in the industry this year in fact. His first song on streaming debuted on March 10. “Shot Off Gumbo” featured the likes of a city veteran, Moneybagg Yo, and Fat Wizza. Since then, Fatt has not looked back one bit, dropping single after single, as well as his first tape, Who Is Fatt.

After that single that we mentioned, Fatt also signed with Yo’s label, Bread Gang Ent. With all of this momentum, what better way to keep it up than with another project? Gucci Mane Links With B.G. For Collab Tape “Choppers & Bricks”

Gucci Mane is always keep as busy as possible. The Alabama legend has been carving up the trap rap scene for years now, as we all know. 2023 continues the hard-working mantra that the 43-year-old stands by to this day. It all began with his solo project, Breath of Fresh Air, toward the backend of October.

That saw the likes of J. Cole, Mike WiLL Made-It, Roddy Ricch, 21 Savage, DaBaby, and Kodak Black appear. Following that, it was not a release that had his name on it directly, but it was still a big moment. Memphis rapper Big Scarr, who was/is a part of Guwop’s 1017 Global Music, LLC label, passed away nearly a year ago. A project was in the works for him, so his labelhead posthumously released his tape, Frozone, a couple of weeks ago.

Bas Might Have His Best Project With “We Only Talk About Real S*** When We’re F****d Up”

Bas is one of Dreamville’s best talents without a doubt, as he can bring a wide range of sounds to the table. The Sudanese talent has been hard at work over the past five years to perfect the approach to his fourth studio album, We Only Talk About Real S*** When We’re F****d Up. Nearly over the past year, he has been dropping singles for this effort. It began back in late January with “Diamonds,” and ended in November with “179 Deli.”

The title of this album aptly refers to the messages of some of the tracks here. He talks about the troubling times in the Middle East on “Khartoum.” “Ho Chi Minh” sees Bas talk about what has been weighing on him and how needs to remain strong within himself. Throughout this collection of songs, he brings the hottest sounds and artists from those genres.

One of the most heavily included is Afro-pop/Afro-beats. He brings on Zimbabwe’s own Sha Sha to “Testify.” Amaarae, who hails from Ghana, appears on “Decent.” J. Cole has two extra appearances outside of “Passport Bros.” He can be heard in his melodic bag on “Home Alone” and “Paper Cuts.” This album has a serene feeling to it, especially with the way Bas is orchestrating these songs. All in all, with the amount of versatility and themes, he might have put forth his best work here.

Lil Reese Follows Up “Demon Time” Special Editions With Solo Effort “Ask About Me”

Lil Reese has not had the easiest life. Part of the reason for that is due to the fact that some of it was self-inflicted. For example, earlier this year, the Chicago rapper was released from prison after assault charges. Additionally, he faced a misdemeanor charge of aggravated assault against a family member last May. Furthermor, the prison records revealed two more felonies and an additional misdemeanor.

While he is not perfect, Reese is trying to better himself and get back into releasing music. Today, he has returned with a full-length project before the end of the year. Ask About Me is a follow-up to his 2022 tape, Demon Time. Before this new effort, two extra editions of the latter were put out too. One of them was an instrumental version and then a chopped and screwed take on it.

Listen To Ask About Me By Lil Reese And ATG Productions

What these past two projects share in common are the production credits. There is a Detroit up-and-coming beatmaker by the name of ATG Productions. One of the best elements of Reese’s tapes have been the instrumentals. The bassy and grimy trap tinges compliment the rapper’s equally gritty delivery. You can check out the tape above.

Yung Bans Comes Back With New Album, “Vol. 6”

After four years of radio silence when it comes to full-length project, his last being 2019’s MISUNDERSTOOD, Yung Bans is finally back with a new mixtape. Vol. 6 is a 15-track offering of what he does best: woozy beats, drowsy delivery, and a whole lot of vibes. Moreover, the St. Louis native focuses on hypnotizing soundscapes with his trap production, with songs like “I Juss” and “No Belt” with YNW Melly packing a heavier punch with their bass treatments. If you need a refresher, the last track we covered from his was 2021’s “Won’t Think Twice,” and not much has shifted since then when it comes to his artistry.

Furthermore, that would be a tad disappointing for Yung Bans, if not for the fact that he encapsulates this style so well. His patient flows and easily adaptable rhyme schemes on songs like “The Streets” remind us of why he captured the ears of so many listeners during the SoundCloud rap golden age. What’s more is that the “Blow Her Back Out” MC also chose a pretty solid list of features on Vol. 6 to show off his chemistry with other artists and switch up the tracklist’s flow. For example, there’s the aforementioned Melly, plus Highway, R5 Homixide, Doe Boy, and Ralo.

Yung Bans’ Vol. 6: Stream

However, these features don’t take away from the record’s overall experience, as the 24-year-old is still at the center of everything here. There are also plenty of moments here that turn more explosive, reminiscent of earlier singles like “Freak Show” with Latto. If you haven’t heard Vol. 6 yet, find it on your preferred streaming service and let us know what you think in the comments section down below. If you’re curious before you dive in, check out the tracklist down there as well. For more news on Yung Bans and more great hip-hop releases around the clock, check back in with HNHH.

As we all know very well by know, the Atlanta rap scene may be the most crowded pool of talent in the country. There are so many artists that are similar and talk about the same things. However, do not be fooled. There are a fair amount who like to experiment and try to put their twist on the trap sound. One of the names that fit that bill is Kenny Mason. The RCA Record signee has been putting out music since 2016.

Edwin Kenneth Green Jr. did not truly pop off till the 2020s decade, though. He has been more well known for his contributions to tracks. But, he definitely has his own slaps as well. Mason has worked with the likes of JID, J. Cole, Denzel Curry, and more.

These are all fresh songs that play into Kenny’s strengths. “PULP FICTION” stands out a little bit more than “FACTS” and “OFF THE RIP.” It has a guitar-laced instrumental that adds a little extra personality to the song. All in all, they are agreeable songs that fans will be pleased with.
