Hulu Drops Trailer For Upcoming Mike Tyson Mini-Series Starring Trevante Rhodes
Yesterday, Hulu dropped the trailer for their upcoming Mike mini-series which chronicles the life and career of Mike Tyson.
The 8-episode series is created by I, Tonya writer Steven Rogers. Hulu calls the upcoming series “an unauthorized and no-holds-barred look at the life of Mike Tyson.” Mike stars Moonlight’s Trevante Rhodes as Mike Tyson, Spiderman: Homecoming’s Laura Harrier as Robin Givens, and BMF’s Russell Hornsby as Don King.
Mike Tyson called for a boycott last year after the show was announced. In an Instagram post, he said that the streamer’s series was “unauthorized” and called it a “tone-deaf cultural misappropriation of the Tyson life story.”
“Hulu’s announcement to do an unauthorized mini-series of the Tyson story without compensation, although unfortunate, isn’t surprising. This announcement on the heels of social disparities in our country is a prime example of how Hulu’s corporate greed led to this tone-deaf cultural misappropriation of the Tyson life story. To make this announcement during Black History Month only confirms Hulu’s concern for dollars over respect for black story rights.”
In a statement released shortly after, Tyson said that he had been waiting for a while to tell his story and that the only one that is authorized is the Martin Scorcessee produced, Antoine Fuqua directed, and Jamie Foxx led limited series that is currently in production.
“I have been looking to tell my story for quite some time,” Tyson said in the statement. “With the recent launch of Legends Only League and the excitement from fans following my return to the ring, now feels like the perfect moment. I look forward to collaborating with Martin, Antoine, Jamie, and the entire creative team to bring audiences a series that not only captures my professional and personal journey but also inspires and entertains.”
Foxx had even shared a shirtless picture of himself 2 years ago as he was undergoing his body transformation to be like Mike Tyson during his prime. However, very little about the project has been said or even mentioned.
Mike premieres on August 25 exlusively on Hulu.

The Game Appears To Beat Mike Tyson In An Arm Wrestling Match
The Game has been known to embellish a story or two in his past, but it appears the latest happening in his life may actually have video proof. This past Tuesday, the Hotboxin’ With Mike Tyson podcast Instagram posted behind-the-scenes footage of an upcoming episode where the legendary boxer hosts the West Coast rapper. The two engage in an intense arm wrestling match where it appears The Game may get the best of Tyson, but the 55-year-old mounts a comeback while simultaneously smoking a joint.
The Game took to Instagram to celebrate his supposed victory. “I beat @MikeTyson arm wrestling & before you get started in the comments… he told me this eye to eye after it was over,” the “Hate It Or Love It” rapper said. “I went light on em in the end cause I love him & I found it in my heart to let him come back lol.”
Perhaps the wildest part of it all is The Game’s admission that he was on mushrooms provided by Tyson. “Mike got me on shrooms, too, y’all. If I’m spaced out for the rest of the day, it’s this n**** fault.”
Evidently, they weren’t potent enough to stop him from a major underdog win and some nice momentum heading into The Game’s upcoming album Drillmatic.

[WATCH] Mike Tyson Smokes With Ric Flair And Rick Ross After Airplane Knockout
After a stressful flight from San Francisco where he had to put hands on an annoying passenger, Mike Tyson decided that the best way to blow off steam was actually by sharing a joint with rapper Rick Ross and wrestling legend Ric Flair and just blowing smoke.
Tyson was seen with Slick Ric and Ricky Rozay at the Benzinga Cannabis Capital Conference afterparty at LIV Miami smoking and joking, probably about the knockout incident on his JetBlue flight just 24 hours earlier. Tyson was reportedly scheduled to speak at the conference, but his appearance was apparently cancelled after the passenger beatdown video went viral.
As we previously reported, a viral video shows Tyson brutally putting the beats on a flight passenger who has now been identified as Melvin Townsend, II, with eyewitnesses saying Townsend was visibly intoxicated and continued to provoke the boxing legend. It was even reported that Townsend threw a water bottle at Tyson, but his lawyer denies that claim.
“When Mike Tyson boarded the plane, he became overly excited,” the lawyer told TMZ. “At first, their interaction was cordial. At a certain point, Mr. Tyson clearly became agitated by an overly excited fan and began to strike him in an excessive manner. This situation could have been avoided simply by contacting the flight attendant. Our client denies throwing a water bottle prior to being struck by Mr. Tyson.”

Mike Tyson’s Rep Says Flight Passenger Threw Water Bottle At The Champ
The footage of boxing legend Mike Tyson putting the beats on a harassing passenger before leaving the plane on the flight from San Francisco has gone viral and now Tyson’s rep claims that the visibly intoxicated individual threw a water bottle at the champ before he got his lumps.
According to Iron Mike’s rep, “Unfortunately, Mr. Tyson had an incident on a flight with an aggressive passenger who began harassing him, and threw a water bottle at him while he was in his seat.”
Additionally, the San Francisco Police Department detained two people believed to be involved in the incident, but their identities were not revealed. San Fran Police did confirm that the individual who was treated for his injuries “provided minimal details of the incident and refused to cooperate further with the police investigation.”
TheSource.com will be providing details to this story as they develop.

[WATCH] Mike Tyson Punches Man on Flight After Being Consistently Harassed
Mike Tyson was on a Jet Blue plane Wednesday night, and an extremely intoxicated man would not stop provoking him. That man would then be on the receiving end of Tyson’s hands.
According to TMZ Sports, Tyson was flying out of San Francisco International and headed to Florida. A witness of the incident states he and his friends were boarding, and Tyson was initially cool with all the passengers.
The punched man took a selfie with Tyson, and then he began to taunt the star boxer. Tyson asked the man to relax, but the fighter continued to provoke the legend, eventually resulting in a barrage of punches.
The man was bleeding after the punches. He received medical attention and spoke to the police about the incident. You can see a video of the encounter below.

Mike Tyson was out attempting to enjoy a night of comedy and then a random guy decides to pull a gun. TMZ shared a video of a night at a rooftop bar in Hollywood, where Tyson was with a few friends.
Tyson was enjoying the show in the front row and then a random man approached the former heavyweight champ and challenged him to a fight. After refusing the fight offer, the host of the night attempted to remove the man, which elevated the event. The random guy pulled and cocked his gun, but regretted it and put it away. Kevin Gates Reveals He First Started Rapping As An ‘Escape’ From Sexual Abuse He Faced As Child
Kevin Gates dropped his first official mixtape when he was in his early ’20s, but the rapper has been writing music long before that. He’s spoke about his childhood in various interviews in the past, but Gates recently revealed on Mike Tyson‘s podcast that he was sexually abused when he was young and began writing lyrics as an “escape” from his tumultuous childhood.
Gates began his conversation on Tyson’s Hotboxin’ podcast by addressing how growing up in a racist environment still affects him to this day. “It’s going to be a different type of interview because I’m going to tell the absolute truth,” he began. “It’s a real racist place, being in Louisiana, just being down south, period. And I’m still kind of breaking that stereotype in my mind. It’s a barrier.”
When asked about the path that led him to music, Gates revealed that he suffered sexual abuse as a child. Because he was coping with trauma, Gates turned to rapping as a creative outlet:
“It was an escape for me. I’m going to say something — I’ve never said this in no interview, no podcast or anything like that — I grew up real, real violent, aggressive. Not because I wanted to be, but I was molested when I was a child. So I had this fear of being vulnerable. I took every kind of martial art you can take. I even boxed, I did everything and I wanted to be the toughest person on earth. But writing and making music was always an escape for me. I never had the nuts to come out and say that. This is my first time saying that today.”
After opening up about his abusive childhood, Tyson responded with empathy. According to Complex, Tyson opened up about his own experience with childhood sexual abuse in 2014. “I know that route, too,” Tyson told Gates. “Why do you think I became the meanest motherfucker on the planet? Somebody did something to me. I didn’t want it to happen again, so I became this guy.”
Elsewhere in the 50-minute conversation, Gates spoke about his devotion to his Muslim faith and his relationship to his children. He also mentioned that he now lives on a blueberry farm and takes care of camels on the property, which he says is akin to having a pet dog.
