Young Dolph’s Fiancee & Sister React To Convicted Killer’s Life Sentence

Yesterday (September 26), Justin Johnson was found guilty of first-degree murder, conspiracy to commit first-degree murder, and felon in possession of a firearm for his alleged role in the 2021 shooting of Young Dolph. The 25-year-old was given a sentence of life in prison following the verdict. The fate of his co-defendants Hernandez Govan and Cornelius Smith has not yet been revealed.

As expected, the verdict has since prompted big reactions from Young Dolph’s fans, peers, and loved ones. While the news began to circulate, for example, his fiancée Mia Jaye took to Instagram to share a heartfelt statement. In it, she thanks everyone involved in bringing Johnson to justice and also acknowledges the public for supporting her family.

Mia Jaye Releases Statement About Justin Johnson’s Guilty Verdict

“Today’s verdict brings relief and restores my confidence in the justice system,” she wrote in part. “On behalf of my children, family, and myself, I would like to thank law enforcement, the prosecution, and everyone involved for their diligent work in presenting the facts that led to this conviction. We are also grateful to the public for standing with us and advocating for accountability throughout this process. This is just the beginning of our journey toward achieving full justice for Adolph, and we will patiently support the unfolding of that process.”

Young Dolph’s sister Carlisa Brown also spoke after the verdict was read. She encouraged the public to focus on her late brother’s legacy as opposed to his killers. “We ask you to remember the man who enjoyed being a father and spending time with his family, we ask that you remember the man who enjoyed giving opportunities to those who were often overlooked and counted out. We ask that you remember the man who enjoyed giving back to others and being an inspiration to those who come from less-than-ideal backgrounds,” she says in a clip obtained by The Shade Room.

Young Dolph’s Partner Mia Jaye Calls Out The Justice System For Allegedly “Unfair” Murder Trial

Today, the late Young Dolph’s longtime partner Mia Jaye took to social media to air her frustrations with the justice system. The two men accused of killing the Memphis icon in November 2021, Justin Johnson and Cornelius Smith Jr., are currently awaiting trial. They’re being held without bail. The trial was initially scheduled for March of this year but has since been pushed back twice. According to AllHipHop, it’s now expected to begin in September, though an official date has not yet been confirmed.

In a lengthy post on her Instagram Story, Mia explained that she and her family have been left to mourn the tragic loss of Young Dolph. Despite this, nobody has been held accountable for his death. “It is truly hurtful that my family was robbed of a future. My love’s life was taken… And to be left behind to see no one be held accountable in the [court] of law for the act… Is INS*NE,” she began.

Mia Jaye Vents About Young Dolph Murder Trial Amid Delays

“Our family has witnessed lenient bonds being granted, absurd requests for the defendants to get a venue motion, freedom, more time to create a stronger defense, witnessed songs made, defendants enjoying life while on H.A… All while our loved one is 6feet deep,” she continued. “Continuing to sit back and allowing people to PLAY in your face isn’t the process it is ignoring the process and giving room for any and everything wrong to happen, over looking accountability.”

Mia also added that the entire process has been nothing short of “disheartening, unfair, triggering and hurtful.” What do you think of Mia Jaye venting about the justice system? Do you agree with her? What about the trial getting delayed for a second time earlier this week? Share your thoughts in the comments section down below, and keep an eye on HNHH for more updates.

Mia Jaye Expresses Frustration At Pace Of Young Dolph Investigation

Mia Jaye, the fiancee of Young Dolph, has voiced her frustrations at how slowly the investigation into the rapper’s murder has been. “I’m fed up. It’s been two years’ worth of conspiracies. Two years’ worth of unknowing. Two years’ worth of people not properly communicating to you. I didn’t know if garnering more attention would hurt or help, and I wanted to help. I feel like I tried that, and I don’t feel like it was helping. And I feel like we weren’t being taken seriously,” Jaye told Rolling Stone.

However, things have been chaotic in the trial surrounding Dolph’s case. Last month, the presiding judge recused himself over allegations that he had acted in a disproportional manner. Judge Lee Coffee had reportedly ordered one of the defendants into solitary confinement for behavior that didn’t actually violate the rules of the prison he was being held. That held up things significantly as a new judge was seated and made familiar with the case.

Mia Jaye Says Young Dolph Died Over “Some Rap Shit”

However, Jaye has been increasingly vocal about her thoughts on Dolph’s death. In a recent Instagram Live, Jaye claimed that the rapper was killed over “some rap sh-t”. “I were to guess, based on the history of things…rap sh-t, bro. A song, or two. Some ego sh-t. Let’s break that down even more. Ego sh-t. He not here because of ego. That’s a spirit. If anyone just wanna call a spade a spade, it’s a spirit. He isn’t here because of some ego sh-t and he possessed the ego. And at the end of the f-cking day, we killing people because of a bruised, a scarred, ego?”

Dolph was killed back in 2021 after being ambushed outside a bakery in Memphis. Furthermore, four men are currently facing trial for his murder. However, the case has been slow-moving in many facets and fans are beginning to tire of not seeing justice done for Dolph’s family.

Young Dolph Suspect Meets New Judge

Meanwhile, one of the men accused of killing Dolph, Hernandez Govan met with the new judge in his case, Judge Jennifer Mitchell. Judge Mitchell was assigned to the case after the original judge, Judge Lee Coffee was recused. Judge Coffee had been ruled to have disproportionally punished another defendant in the case for releasing a song while incarcerated. While Coffee ordered Justin Johnson to be placed in “administrative isolation”, the jail’s warden noted that Johnson had not broken any specific rules.

Furthermore, Coffee was not a fan of Govan either. Earlier this year, Govan had received a scathing courtroom response from Coffee after requesting amendments to the conditions of his house arrest. “I don’t see any reason at all why this court should relax those conditions and say ‘Mr. Govan, we’re going to let you go back to being a fully fledged person with no restrictions at all, go to work when you want to, go shopping when you want to, leave the county when you want go, go to other places when you want to. You are probably aware that Memphis, Shelby County, Tennessee is the first most violent metropolitan area in the country. This case has generated a substantial amount of publicity. If you’re running around free in Shelby County, Mr. Govan, knock on wood, somebody might be trying to kill you, sir,” Coffee told Govan back in July.

Mia Jaye Dedicates Song To Young Dolph’s Killers: “How Could You Take A Father From His Family?”

The death of Young Dolph took a hard hit on the world of hip-hop – especially the Paper Route Empire that he and Key Glock were building down south. Thankfully other artists in the “Water on Water” hitmaker’s community have since stepped up to ensure his legacy lives on. Outside of being a talented rapper, Dolph was also known to be a family man through and through. His fiancee, Mia Jaye, and their young children were devastated upon hearing news of his 2021 murder.

On Saturday (September 2), the widow decided to express herself musically on social media, sending out a message to his accused killers. In an acapella video posted to her Instagram Story, Jaye sang, “How could you take a father from his family and kids / Mr. Shooter, dear Mr. Shooter, what the f**k was you thinkin’/ You done f**ked up now.” The emotion in her voice is obvious. It also isn’t surprising considering the fashion designer has frequently spoken about the pain she feels while mourning Dolph.

Mia Jaye Has a Message for Young Dolph’s Murderers

“I wish I could turn back the hands of time… Every fibre in my body wants Adolph back,” Mia tweeted last year, as HipHopDX pointed out. “My life was so complete… My children’s lives were so complete. As more time passes by I am constantly reminded of how incomplete our lives are.” There’s unfortunately nothing that can be done to bring the creative back from the dead. Thankfully he spent his short life working toward making a difference in his community.

As the time since Young Dolph’s sudden departure grows longer, those closest to the late rapper continue to keep his memory alive. Apart from Mia Jaye’s recent musical tribute, the couple’s 9-year-old son also recently launched a clothing line in honour of his father. Read more about that initiative at the link below, and check back later for more hip-hop/pop culture news updates.

Young Dolph’s 9-Year-Old Son Launches Clothing Line, “King Of Memphis”

Young Dolph’s nine-year-old son, Tre Tre Thornton, has launched a clothing line titled King of Memphis. The pieces went up for pre-sale, last weekend, marking what would’ve been his late father’s 38th birthday. The line sold out at the time but has since been updated with more stock and is available for purchase.

Tre’s mother, Mia Jaye, expressed how proud she is of Tre Tre in an Instagram post after the release of the collection. “When I say I’m so proud of my son I truly mean it,” she wrote. “I’m actually proud of both of my children and how they have been growing through their hurt, pain and grief… The journey hasn’t been peaches and cream… and we have actually had some rough times especially with Tre being a young boy losing his hero. But by leaning into our village and connecting Tre with an amazing mentor/coach @empowermma Tre’s journey took a turn for the best.”

She added: “Being inspired to create artwork to help express his most inner feelings instead of leaning into anger and inappropriate behavior (which would be rightfully justified due to the adversity/hurt he has faced at such a young age), is a major life accomplishment which I am so proud of as his mother and biggest Cheerleader.”

Young Dolph was shot and killed in 2021 while visiting Makeda’s Homemade Butter Cookies in Memphis. An autopsy later revealed that he suffered 22 gunshot wounds from bullet entries and exits. He was just 36 years old.

Young Dolph’s Fiancée Mia Jaye Gives Her First Interview Since His Death: ‘That Was My Soulmate’

Nearly two months after the death of Memphis rapper Young Dolph, the late rapper’s fiancee Mia Jaye granted her first interview with ABC News Live Prime to talk about the effects his death has had on her and their family. Dolph and Mia have two children together, and Dolph often said that he wanted to retire from rap to spend more time with them. Mia explained how important the kids were to him in the interview.

“It’s been extremely difficult, just having to pick up the pieces and to find the strength for my children,” she said. That is the one thing: Adolph and myself felt we had a duty to them. To protect them, to raise them, to just do so much for them, and together. Now that he’s no longer here, it’s just very tough for me to be strong for them and also be strong for myself because Adolph was my soulmate when I say they stole my future, it has taken a long time to iron out the kinks.”

Dolph was shot to death outside a Memphis bakery while buying cookies. Police have made two arrests and indicted three suspects so far. A street in Memphis was renamed for the late rapper, nodding to his importance to his hometown, while collaborators like Gucci Mane and his own Paper Route Empire label have also paid musical tribute.
