Chris Paul is certainly one of the best point guards to ever play the game of basketball. However, there is one accolade that is missing from his career. Of course, we are talking about an NBA title. He was two games away from winning one back in 2021 with the Phoenix Suns. Although, the Milwaukee Bucks ultimately bested them. Now, it is at a point where Paul is no longer with the Suns, and will be looking for his next team to play with.

Right now, Chris Paul is on the Washington Wizards. Overall, it is becoming increasingly clear that they are going to waive him. Perhaps even a sign and trade is on the table. However, the fact remains that we will likely be seeing Paul in a brand-new jersey next year. There are plenty of teams that could use him, including the Memphis Grizzlies. With all of the Ja Morant stuff going on, it is clear that they could use a veteran leader. Ultimately, Paul would be perfect in that role.

Chris Paul To Memphis?

However, it does not seem like Chris Paul has any interest in actually going down South. Zach Lowe of ESPN asked around the league about the possibility, and the response was pretty telling. “I asked some people last night, would he ever want to go to Memphis and be the veteran mentor that this team, who’s not going to have its point guard for the first 25 games of the season, so badly needs? Didn’t get a lot of good feedback on that one,” he said.

So there you have it Grizzlies fans. Do not expect Chris Paul to come and save your franchise and youth next season. Of course, he helped construct the three-peat Los Angeles Lakers who boasted the talents of Kobe Bryant, Shaq, and many more. Additionally, he is now in charge of the Los Angeles Clippers.

Recently, he got to spend some time with one of his players, Paul George. Overall, this was for George’s podcast, Podcast P. During the conversation, Jerry West had an incredible revelation about his time with the Memphis Grizzlies. As it turns out, in 2004, Kobe Bryant expressed his desire to join the Grizzlies. However, despite being the team’s GM, West advised against it. Ultimately, he wanted Bryant to play in Los Angeles, as he believed that’s where he belonged.

And he called me and his agent then was Rob Pelinka,” Jerry West began. “And so I met them in Orange County in a hotel room and he said he wanted to come to Memphis and play basketball. And I looked at him, I said, are you kidding me? And he said no, and I said, ‘Kobe, no, no. You know, it’s just you belong somewhere out here.’ And even though he would have never played there, I just want to reassure him that don’t feel like you have any obligation with me or the Grizzlies to play here and because he would have never played there, it wasn’t gonna happen.”

Had Kobe Bryant gone to Memphis, it would have completely changed the NBA. However, he stayed in L.A., much to the delight of Lakers fans. Moreover, Adam Silver has made it clear that he will only make an official ruling after the NBA Finals. He also claimed that the league has uncovered some new and troubling information.

Needless to say, things are not very good for Ja Morant right now. There aren’t too many people out there trying to vouch for him. Instead, a lot of people are trying to distance themselves from the young man. However, he does have some teammates who completely have his back. I stand my brother and I think that’s the lesson everybody should take away from this.” Needless to say, it must be nice for Ja to get at least some kind of praise these days. Merely two months after his suspension from the Grizzlies for flashing a gun on Instagram Live, Memphis Grizzlies star Ja Morant has been suspended from all Grizzlies activities indefinitely after he was seen flashing a gun again on Instagram Live.

The video was noticed on Morant’s friend, Davonte Pack’s IG feed.

Memphis suspended Morant while an investigation is taking place, but NBA spokesperson Mike Bass said, “We are aware of the social media post involving Ja Morant and are in the process of gathering more information.”

Back in March, Morant was suspended eight games due to conduct detrimental to the team after brandishing a gun in a Colorado nightclub. Morant didn’t make All-NBA, which resulted in nixing more than $39 million in potential earnings. The eight-game suspension in March factored into Morant’s All-NBA chances.

Past decisions have also impacted Morant off the floor. He has become one of the biggest faces of the NBA through endorsement deals with Nike, Powerade, Hulu and many more notable brands. The arrival of Morant’s first Nike signature was delayed in April.

About two months ago, the Memphis Grizzlies suspended Ja Morant after he flashed a gun on social media. The incident caused a lot of discussion in the NBA world, prompting an apology from the star guard and much debate on his actions. However, it seems that this rabbit hole is open once again after he flashed a gun for the second time on Instagram Live. As soon as news broke on this development, many wondered whether we’d see the same situation play out. Now we have confirmation that the Memphis Grizzlies have indeed suspended the South Carolina native.

“We are aware of the social media video involving Ja Morant,” the basketball team expressed in a statement issued Sunday (May 14). “He is suspended from all team activities pending League review. Dillon Brooks appears to be on the outs with the Memphis Grizzlies. Following the initial report, Brooks’ agent, Mike George, has blasted The Athletic reporter Shams Charania.

According to Charania, the franchise told unrestricted free agent Dillon Brooks that he would not be brought back to the team “under any circumstances.”

Brooks has had a strong personality throughout his Grizzlies tenure, most recently making headlines due to his prodding of Lakers superstar LeBron James in the first-round series. Now, the Grizzlies state Brooks has been alerted that the team will move on, opting for both sides to receive a fresh start. Additional incidents occurred throughout the season with Donovan Mitchell and Draymond Green.

The Grizzlies will now look to replace the three-and-D player in the offseason.

Hitting Twitter, George blasted Charania. He wrote, “@ShamsCharnia the leader of spreading false news and attacking players. Why any player in the league talks to this guy blows my mind. #weirdo”

Dillon Brooks also spoke out. After losing in the playoffs, Brooks had been silent, opting to skip post-game media availability and receiving a $25,000 fine in the process.

Dillon Brooks’ Agent Lashes Out At Reporter For “Fake News”

Much has been said about Dillon Brooks. The Memphis Grizzlies forward put himself in the spotlight during the team’s first-round matchup against the Lakers. Primarily, Brooks angled himself as beefing with LeBron James. However, Brooks struggled to back up his words on the court. The Grizzlies would be eliminated in six games by the Lakers. Brooks averaged 10.5 points per game versus the Lakers, even while being frequently left open on the perimeter. His three-point shooting sat at a dismal 23.8%, going 10-for-42 from behind the arc.

Brooks’ trash-talking and other off-court behaviors appear to have cost him his future in Memphis. Reports suggest that Brooks, who has played for the Grizzlies since a draft day trade in 2017, will be allowed to explore free agency. During the playoffs, Brooks also told the media that he felt that they had turned him into a “villain”. Now his representatives are taking that one step further.

Brooks’ Agent Says Shams Charaina Is Spreading “Fake News”

Shams Charaina is a very well-respected basketball reporter who has been with The Athletic since 2018. However, he appears to have drawn the ire of several people for initially breaking the story that the Grizzlies were allowing Brooks to walk in the offseason. Specifically, people point at Charaina as “scapegoating” Brooks for the Grizzlies’ first-round exit. Notably, Brooks’ comments during the Lakers series do appear to have impacted his future with the team. “We’re going to take a different approach as it pertains to [trash talk] next season,” Grizzlies general manager Zach Kleiman said Sunday during the team’s exit interviews. “You’ll see a different approach from this team, but at the same time, confidence is important. … There’s a line there, certainly.”

This sentiment was echoed by Brooks’ agent, Mike George. George spent most of May 3 retweeting media clips of people criticizing the Grizzlies for their decision. As former NBA pro, and well-known beef haver, JJ Reddick sounded off on First Take, George added his thoughts to Reddicks’ defense of his client. “@ShamsCharania the leader of spreading false news and attacking players. Why any player in the league talks to this guy blows my mind. #weirdo”. George is obviously going to defend his client, who will likely find a landing spot in the NBA next season. However, while there is a valid argument for a negative media narrative around Brooks, he still said the things he said while playing poorly in crucial games.
