Today, three-time Grammy award-winning artist, entrepreneur, and philanthropist Megan Thee Stallion unveiled her new album, “MEGAN.” The album includes collaborations with Victoria Monet, GloRilla, UGK, Big K.R.I.T., Kyle Richh, and Yuki Chiba. Showcasing her versatility and global reach, Megan teamed up with Japanese hip-hop artist Yuki Chiba on “MAMUSHI,” recorded during her trip to Tokyo earlier this year.
Megan also secured an appearance from Bun B and a posthumous verse from the late-great Pimp C for a special UGK collaboration on “PAPER TOGETHER.” This track is a full-circle moment for Megan, who grew up listening to the Port Arthur duo and has called Pimp C one of her favorite rappers.
The self-titled album also includes previously released songs like “COBRA,” “BOA,” and “HISS” – the latter of which debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 earlier this year and became the first-ever solo female rap song to debut No. 1 on the Billboard Global 200.
The announcement comes as Megan extends her prolific “Hot Girl Summer Tour” with new dates in Atlanta, GA at State Farm Arena on July 2 and a domestic finale in Charlotte, NC at PNC Music Pavilion on July 3. Tickets for the newly added dates are available for purchase at store.megantheestallion.com.
To date, Megan’s tour has sold over 280,000 tickets and sold out 23 shows. Throughout the tour, she has brought a wide array of special guests at select stops, including Cardi B, Latto, Flo Milli, Bun B, Paul Wall, Slim Thug, Monaleo, Lil Keke, and Z-Ro.
Megan Thee Stallion’s new album, Megan, has arrived — but not without some difficulty for the Houston rapper. In a recent livestream, Meg shared how a major obstacle emerged just days before the album’s release, forcing her to extensively re-record one song, “Otaku Hot Girl,” to remove references to one of her favorite anime.
She said on Tuesday, June 25, her team got an email from the anime’s production company, requesting the removal of a sample from the show, as well as several character names from her lyrics. “They said, ‘Actually, I need you to take out the names of the characters that’s in the show’,” she recalled. “That is the whole song. That makes the song make sense. They said, ‘You could either do this — you could have the music clearance or you can have the name clearance.’ The music is what’s really important to me, but the names really tied it all together.”
Ultimately, she re-cut the song in a makeshift studio just before going Live on Instagram, telling fans, “I really hope y’all think this sh*t sound fire, ’cause I had to jump through eight million hoops to get this sh*t. Once y’all hear the sample, y’all are gonna know why they was giving us a hard time. This is a very big production company, so for them to even say yes — and I be cussing and sh*t — like I said, I’m grateful. I’m not complaining. I really wanted this sample. I really wanted to do it, so I’m doing everything I got to do to keep it. But change the names? Change the names the day before the album out? That was nuts.”
Even though Meg did not reveal the name of the anime or production company… it’s pretty obviously Jujutsu Kaisen, a show with which she’s already got something of a history. The beat, by Bankroll Got It, interpolates the show’s theme song, while Adam McArthur, the voice actor for the main character, Yuji Itadori, declares, “I like a tall woman with a big ass, like Grammy winner Megan Thee Stallion.” The show is licensed in the US by Crunchyroll and Viz Media, and is one of the more popular properties being licensed by the companies.

The line reading used in the song is not actually spoken in the show. Although Yuji does assert his fondness for statuesque women, the example given in the show is Jennifer Lawrence (who technically qualifies by Japanese standards, I guess). Fans online rewrote the line to pay homage to Thee Stallion’s love for anime and fitting physique, then convinced McArthur to re-read the line with the Meg reference. It’s kind of a shame we might not get to hear the original verses and see how she used the names of the characters to tie it all together, but it is cool to see the continued crossover between hip-hop and anime.
Following the release of Megan, Megan Thee Stallion is a trending topic on X (formerly Twitter). One of the most talked-about songs on the album so far is “Down Stairs DJ.” No, it’s not about a person with turntables in the basement. You know what it’s about and it’s wildly NSFW.
“Ayy, I love my p*ssy and my p*ssy love me
Play with her for a lil’ while, then fall asleep
Asked the jeweler, ‘Can you make a crown shaped like a V?’
‘Cause the b*tch is a queen and she need a lil’ bling
Two fingers give me peace, switch hands, finna cheat
Then I sleep in my own wet spot in the sheets
N**** can’t stress me if he can’t sex me
Finna get lockjaw tryna impress me.”
Other select lines from throughout the song include, “Me, myself, and I, and a rose / Ebony, lezzy, XVideos,” “How I got this sh*t looking, lathered up, no soap,” and, “Ayy, ready, player one, fight / Arcade mode ’til the batteries die / Way I’m finna nut, let the CPU decide / Faithful to myself ’cause I do myself right.”

Megan Thee Stallion has the headlining new album release of the week with Megan. That’s bad news for Nicki Minaj, since some lines appear to be shots fired right at her.
What Does Megan Thee Stallion Say About Nicki Minaj On “Figueroa”?
The song’s first verse starts with, “P*ssy hoes on the internet / Using me to drive traffic,” before ending, “I’m a motherf*cking brat, not a Barbie / On go with any b*tch that wanna start it.” The Barbie line especially appears to be a pretty clear jab at Minaj, who has often used Barbie-related themes in her music and public persona.
What Does Megan Thee Stallion Say About Nicki Minaj On “Rattle”?
The opening verse begins, “I wanted everybody right here with me / But that was my fault, being too friendly / I was thinking everything was all good / But the whole time, you was my enemy /
Only time y’all n****s in agreement / Is when all y’all tryna go against me / Only time y’all weak hoes link up / It’s when another b*tch tryna get rid of me.”
Then, there’s speculation that the following line could be about either Minaj or Meg’s former best friend Kelsey Nicole: “Damn, b*tch, it been four years / Worry ’bout your man and your kid / Your life must be boring as f*ck if you still reminiscing ’bout sh*it that we did.”
What Does Megan Thee Stallion Say About Nicki Minaj On “Hiss”?
“Hiss” has been out since January, so this is a track fans are already familiar with. Most notably, towards the end of the track’s opening verse, Meg takes an apparent swing at Minaj’s husband Kenneth Petty. She raps, “These hoes don’t be mad at Megan, these hoes mad at Megan’s Law,” seemingly in reference to Petty’s sexual assault allegations and failure to register as a sex offender in California.

Megan Thee Stallion has a lot to get off her chest. She dealt with a lot of hate in the last few years, and she decided to bottle all her frustration and trash talk for her self-titled album. “There’s a reason that “HISS,” her diss against Nicki Minaj, made the tracklist. Yes, it did top the Billboard Hot 100, but it sets the proper tone for Megan, which is aggressive and confident. Megan Thee Stallion doesn’t have time to waste on her haters, because she’s too busy being successful. This is the overriding thesis of the album, and it makes for a pretty entertaining listen.
The guest features are dished out during the middle portion of Megan. GloRilla and Victoria Monet provide very different, albeit compelling features on “Accent” and “Spin,” respectively. There’s also Kyle Rich on the album highlight “B.A.S.” The rapper has a memorable sixteen, but the real appeal of the song lies in the lush Teena Marie sample. The real surprise, in terms of features, is UGK on “Paper Together.” Megan Thee Stallion pays tribute to her Texas roots by including verses from Bun B and the late, great, Pimp C. The result is a chilled-out, flow-heavy affair that easily ranks among the album’s best. Megan handles the rest of the album’s songs on her own. She slides on the menacing “Otuka Hot Girl,” but “Moody Girl” is surprisingly poignant. The rapper gets personal and vulnerable, and the results are fascinating. Megan is the best Megan album yet.
So, when can the Hotties listen to Megan in its entirety?
