Dee-1 Champions Meek Mill After “Gangsta” Tweet About Street Life’s Limitations

Dee-1 recently praised Meek Mill for a recent tweet that he put out concerning what being a “gangsta” really is. “Being gangsta will get you hurt put in jail or killed ……” the Philly rapper posted on the social media platform on Tuesday (January 2). “Being smart will get you out of poverty and your family and friends living better. It’s no comparison, being smart is the only solid way out the trenches… everything else is wide range life risk just to survive!” Moreover, the Christian MC posted an Instagram video reacting to this on his page. “Big Salute to @meekmill,” he captioned. “Some haters and some blogs don’t wanna see love and support, but that’s exactly what this is. Stating Big Facts that will have a domino effect. Let’s be smart and we can all win! Ya digggg. A Shift Is Happening!!! #Dee1 #MeekMill #HipHopCulture #Support #MissionVision.”

“Yeah, salute to Meek Mill for spitting these facts!” Dee-1 said in the clip in question. “And this gon’ have a domino effect in a good way, you heard me? Aye, this shift is happening right now, make sure y’all not late to it, man. And I know this ain’t that sexy for the blogs. They gon’ be like, ‘Wait, Dee-1 supporting what Meek say?’ Yes, absolutely! This man spitting facts! And if you grew up in the streets, then you know that he’s just making it real black and white. ‘Being gangsta will get you hurt, put in jail, or killed.’ Period! ‘Being smart will get you out of poverty, and your family and friends living better.’ Period!

Dee-1 Gives Meek Mill His Flowers: Watch

“That’s important for people to just know it’s that simple,” Dee-1 continued. “‘It’s no comparison. Being smart is the only solid way out the trenches. Everything else is wide range life risk just to survive.’ Come on, man, that’s facts, and this shift is happening right now, man. I love this, I support this, Meek. Big love, and everybody just need to know this, man. It might be common sense to one person to see this. But there’s a lot of people that’s at that crossroads each and every day. Man, be smart. Let’s be smart, and let’s win.”

For those unaware, the New Orleans native previously called Meek and other MCs out for their glorification of violence and street life in their lyrics. Other rappers chimed in with their takes in addition to a clap-back of his own, and it prompted a lot of debate. Maybe Dee’s just compensating for this rift, but it’s still heartening to see them come together on these issues. Meek Mill & Fivio Foreign Meet Up Amid Theory That They’re The Same Person

A lot of rappers have plenty of similarities: their crews, styles, flows, regional loyalties, life experiences.. you name it. However, what’s more rare to see is when fans notice parallels between two completely different MCs from two completely different cities. It’s almost as if they create a multiverse through their head-canon, and a viral Twitter discussion posited that Fivio Foreign and Meek Mill are each other’s equivalents in their respective cities. The reason as to why is up for debate, but we know the Philly MC and Kanye West collaborator– perhaps future collaborator– get along well. Moreover, the two recently enjoyed a fruitful and hype studio session in a new clip they shared to social media.

Furthermore, it would be great to see these two link up for another energetic track together, such as 2020’s “Demons & Goblins.” As for whether Meek Mill and Fivio Foreign are clones of each other, there are certainly many ways in which you could draw these connections. One is their unwavering dedication to their cities, and another is their rapping style and how they typically handle their subject material in their verses. But the same can be said for so many other lyricists, so maybe this is more of a direct talent and relevance comparison, which is impossible to firmly assess.

In other news, Meek Mill has other things to worry about that are more important than whether he and Fivio Foreign should get a 23andMe. For example, DJ Akademiks recently called him out, plus Freddie Gibbs, while responding to various sexual assault and grooming allegations against him. “There’s been numerous individuals who probably felt certain way about me over the years,” the media personality stated on his livestream, insinuating the Dream Chasers boss as his target. “Maybe their career wasn’t doing that good. They had to do some bunny-hopping for billionaires, had to sell their houses, they got dropped from their label. They might have thought that I was one of the reasons why their situation went down.”

Meanwhile, the New York drill leader recently “taught” a controversial player in that scene how to do it justice. He and Lil Mabu released the single “TEACH ME HOW TO DRILL,” which stirred the pot in a pretty heated fashion. There’s someone else who might need a lesson, but if fans are onto something, then they are just a clone of Fivio himself. Jokes aside, for more news and the latest updates on Fivio Foreign and Meek Mill, log back into HNHH.

Did Kendrick Lamar Diss Big Sean On His Song ‘Element?’

Kendrick Lamar’s Mr. Morale & The Big Steppers continues to rack up impressive streaming numbers. However, thanks to a viral clip floating around online, his 2017 song “Element” has reentered the mainstream hip-hop chatter. Unlike the official version, Kendrick’s bars in this recording have very clearly named targets. So, did Kendrick diss Big Sean on the unreleased version of “Element?”

The lyrics in question make it hard to refute: “Big Sean keep sneak dissin’ I let it slide / I think his false confidence got him inspired / I can’t make them respect you, baby, it’s not my job / You’re finally famous for who you date, not how you rhyme boy/ Cute ass raps, get your puberty up.” However, during his causal chat with TMZ, Big Sean shut down the idea of any lingering beef between the two.

He went as far as to dismiss the supposed leaked verse, saying, “Ain’t no diss. If it was a diss, it would be a diss!”

Big Sean was the only person mentioned in the unreleased recording. French Montana and Jay Electronica both caught strays. Even Meek Mill and Drake are referenced. Since Kendrick Lamar’s verse on Big Sean’s 2013 “Control” song, supporters of each rapper have speculated that they’ve subtly taken jabs at each other on records throughout the years.

Listen to the official version of Kendrick Lamar’s song “Element” above.

Meek Mill Breaks Down In Tears As Pennsylvania Governor Signs New Reform Bill

Jay-Z | Meek Mill | Michael Rubin

Meek Mill couldn’t hold back his tears as he stood alongside Governor Josh Shapiro while signing State Bill 38, a groundbreaking probation reform in Pennsylvania. The Philadelphia rapper also shared reflections on his upbringing in his hometown.

Leading Change

On Dec. 15 during the signing of State Bill 38, Meek Mill became emotional. The “House Party” rapper expressed his deep connection to the cause and the struggles young Black men like himself faced in Philadelphia.

In an emotional moment at the press conference on Dec. 15, the  “What’s Free” rapper joined Pennsylvania Governor Shapiro and state officials to announce the signing of State Bill 38, a significant change in the state’s probation system. As he addressed the crowd, Meek became emotionally overwhelmed, shedding tears and sharing the profound impact this reform had on him.

Meek Gets Vulnerable

Meek Mill’s own experience with the probation system adds a personal touch to his advocacy. Arrested as a teenager in 2005, he has been on probation for over a decade.

In 2017, he made headlines when he received a two to four-year prison sentence for a parole violation, serving only five months. With tears welling up, Meek Mill said:

“I don’t want to get emotional cause it’s a lot.”

Meek Mill also expressed his deep connection to the cause and the struggles faced by young Black men like himself in Philadelphia.

“We all grew up in the streets, we try to be better but they labeled us felons, sent us back to jail. I had to fight against that the whole time to gain my respect and be who I am today, and I’m proud of that.”

A special ceremony will be held in Philadelphia, where Governor Shapiro will sign the bill into law, joined by Meek, Rubin, and other advocates.

In a historic moment, Senate Bill 838, aimed at reforming Pennsylvania’s probation system, has been passed and is now awaiting Governor Josh Shapiro’s signature.

What Will This Change?

The significance of this bill signing is not lost on Meek Mill, as he hails from Pennsylvania and has become a vocal advocate for criminal justice reform.

The bill serves as an emblem of REFORM’s birth story, an organization that aims to address the flaws and injustices within the justice system. Meek Mill’s unjust incarceration served as a catalyst, sparking the #FreeMeek movement and highlighting the millions of Americans negatively impacted by an unfair judicial system.

SB 838 brings about essential reforms that will positively impact over 300,000 individuals on probation in the coming five years. These reforms include limitations on sending individuals to prison for technical violations, the implementation of early termination protocols for probation terms, incentives for maintaining employment and pursuing education, personalized probation conditions, and considering individuals’ financial situations regarding fines, fees, and restitution.

The Values

The success of the REFORM Alliance, which is also spearheaded by the Philly rapper, Michael Rubin, and Jay-Z, is evident through their core values of spark, reaction, and results.

Meek Mill’s unjust imprisonment six years ago ignited international outrage and led to his eventual release. This prompted a group of leaders from various domains to come together and launch the REFORM Alliance, which aims to transform probation and parole systems for millions of other Americans.

Since its inception nearly five years ago, the organization has played a crucial role in passing 17 transformative bipartisan bills in multiple states, providing countless individuals with opportunities to rebuild their lives outside the justice system.
