“I feel like I’m the only person in the world who didn’t see this and who doesn’t know what we’re talking about,” Rapp said. “And I think it’s because I was fairly drunk at the premiere and that was the only time I ever watched the movie. Megan Thee Stallion’s utterance of “fire crotch”, a reference to an early 2000s It Girl diss of Lohan, appeared in the theatrical cut of the film but has been removed from the digital release. Lohan expressed her dismay at the line’s inclusion when the film was released in theatres last month.

Tina Fey, who was responsible for the film’s script, did not address the controversy despite her long-standing relationship with Lohan. This goes to show a) it’s been a slow year for movies (save us, Dune: Part Two), and b) the Mean Girls movie musical exceeded expectations. It was also at the center of a mini-controversy involving the original film’s star, Lindsay Lohan. The actress’ representative said that she was “very hurt and disappointed” by a reference to the term “fire crotch” made by Megan Thee Stallion in the movie musical.

TMZ reports that the line has been removed from the digital version.

The rebooted flick — which is now a musical — finally hit VOD this week… so it’s available to rent on all your major players, Amazon and the like. The only difference this time around… Meg’s quote that pissed off LiLo in theaters is completely gone. Indeed… eagle-eyed fans noticed it right away as they started to stream the flick from home — the part where Megan Thee Stallion is supposed to say “Y2K fire crotch is back” has been edited out.

Megan’s line now ends with her saying “we are going back to red,” and cuts to the “Not My Fault” rapper laughing. This is like the Star Wars special editions, except instead of George Lucas adding a scene where Han Solo steps on Jabba the Hutt’s tail, it’s the Mean Girls musical removing a joke about fire crotches. Ahead of the movie, Rapp has teamed up with Megan Thee Stallion for a new song from the soundtrack, “Not My Fault.” The song is centered around a memorable quote from the movie, in which one character says “It’s not my fault you’re like in love with me.”

“It’s not my fault / You came with her but she might leave with me / It’s not my fault / You’ve gotta pay for what I get for free / It’s not my fault
You’re like, you’re like, you’re like in love with me,” she sings on the song’s chorus, giving Regina a little bit of some queer flair.

Meg pops in with a supercharged verse, claiming her throne as the “Black Regina George.”

After a relatively quiet first half of the year musically, Megan Thee Stallion has been busy recently. Back in September, she teamed up with Cardi B for a second time and dropped the highly-anticipated single “Bongos.” While the song didn’t reach the same commercial peaks as their previous collab “WAP,” it did stick around in the Hot 100 for multiple months after its release. She also flexed her acting skills in the absurdist A24 comedy musical Dicks: The Musical. She contributed the song “Out Alpha The Alpha” to the soundtrack for the film.

The biggest moment for Megan so far this year was when she returned with her new single “Cobra.” The song saw her diving deeper into some of her emotions while still maintaining her trademark intensity.
