Taylor Swift Fans Will Get An Extra Little Treat Before ‘The Eras Tour’: The Trailer For The Renee Rapp-Starring ‘Mean Girls’ Musical

The publicist for the color Pink is surely having a whirlwind year. After the success of Barbie, the imagery from Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour movie, and winning Pantone Color Of the Year, there is no stopping the shade. Sorry to the color Blue, who tried really hard last year.

The next way Pink will be infiltrating the world is through the upcoming adaptation of Mean Girls, the movie that is based on the musical (that is based on the movie that is based on the book). The trailer is slated to show ahead of the Eras Tour movie (as reported by Vulture) because why shouldn’t Pink begin its campaign to be the official Webster word of the year? It’s like the rules of feminism.

Mean Girls: The Musical will star Renee Rapp (a fellow Swiftie who also starred in the Broadway rendition) as Queen Bee Regina George who wears pink every Wednesday while destroying the confidence of her high school peers. The movie also stars Angourie Rice, Jaquel Spivey, Auli’i Cravalho, Christopher Briney, Jenna Fischer, Avantika Vandanapu, Bebe Wood, Busy Philipps, Tim Meadows, Tina Fey, and Jon Hamm.

While we don’t have a trailer online yet, Swifties are really good at taking one thing and plastering it all over the internet, so we might see some snippets before it’s officially released, which should be soon. Until then, you might just have to shell out $19.89 to watch the trailer alongside your local gaggle of Swifties. Maybe you’ll get a friendship bracelet out of it!

Mean Girls: The Movie is set to hit theaters in January.

SZA Thinks Drake ‘Has A Regina George Quality About Him,’ But Don’t Worry, They’re Still Cool

On the heels of the release of her sophomore album, S.O.S., SZA sat down with Audacy’s Check-In podcast. The interview took place after last Saturday’s episode of Saturday Night Live, where she was the musical guest.

During the aforementioned Saturday Night Live episode, there was a sketch in which ex-flings of rapper Drake formed a union called “The United Tingz Of Aubrey.

SZA herself was not in the sketch, however, the irony was not lost on fans. In a song called “Mr. Right Now” from 21 Savage & Metro Boomin’s 2020 mixtape Savage Mode II, Drake alludes to a past relationship, as he raps, “Yeah, said she wanna f*ck to some SZA, wait / ‘Cause I used to date SZA back in ’08.”

During her podcast episode, SZA noted that she wasn’t aware of the sketch until the episode’s airing.

“In a strange way, I was like, ‘Did they know?’” she said. “But they didn’t ask me to be in it. Nobody said anything. … I feel like Drake has a Regina George quality to him where it’s just kind of like, ‘Have you or anyone you know been personally victimized?’ He’s like a cool kid, you know. When you’re the popular kid in school, it’s entertaining. It’s entertaining, but you sometimes are taking losses in the midst of that entertainment. The honesty, I respect that. But I definitely laughed real hard…I cackled.”

Despite the comparison to the Mean Girls bully, SZA insists that it’s all love between her and Drizzy.

“We’re cool. And we’ve always been cool,” she said. “It’s never been weird. It didn’t come completely out of the blue when he let me know. I didn’t know it was a song with 21 [Savage] or anything like that. But anytime he’s ever mentioned me, it’s always been positive. He’s never said anything negative about me. I’m grateful for that. I think highly of him…He’s King Drake.”

Megan Thee Stallion Goes Full Regina George In A ‘Mean Girls’ Spoof For Coach

A remake of the cult classic 2004 Mean Girls may be on its way, but Megan Thee Stallion has offered her own spin on the iconic film. Appearing in a promotion video for Coach’s Fall 2021 collection, Megan takes on the role of Regina George, who was originally played by Rachel McAdams.

The commercial is a spoof on the scene where Regina George’s character is introduced to the protagonist, Cady Heron (played by Lindsay Lohan). In the segment, a few members of her high school’s student body shares a ridiculous rumor they heard about George, like that her “hair is insured for $10,000.”

Megan’s commercial is a playful take on the original scene, recreating the script with several contemporary comedians. The script reads:

“Megan Thee Stallion is flawless. One time, she locked eyes with Medusa and all the snakes unionized. Each of her dogs has its own bedroom and country home in France. Shakespeare wrote five sonnets about her. Yeah, she wasn’t alive yet but… he knew. I heard her favorite movie is an anime based on her own life and it won best picture. Her nails are so long that she accidentally gouged my eye out and it was awesome. I heard that she was walking down the street and a guy saw her and crashed his car. It was so fetch. Or, not fetch… it was awesome. She’s perfect.”
