Martin Lawrence Gives Jamie Foxx Update

Martin Lawrence just gave fans an update on Jamie Foxx’s slow but sure path to recovery following his medical emergency. Moreover, he recently spoke to Extra at the unveiling of his Hollywood Walk of Fame star, which unfortunately carried a saddened context due to his colleague Foxx’s condition. When asked about the Django Unchained star’s status, the actor and comedian gave positive words on his prompt recovery. Although this situation distressed many fans out there, all news on the subject has been mostly about promising updates surrounding his health. Hopefully, the actor can return to business as usual soon.

“Well, I hear he’s doing better,” Martin Lawrence told the publication. “My prayers go out for him every night, and just wishing the best for him. (He’s) one of the best that we got in Hollywood, not only one of the best entertainers but a good person.” Fortunately, recent reports suggested that Jamie Foxx is “awake and alert” as doctors are still monitoring his condition and possibility for release. From the very first message breaking the news, straight from his daughter Corrine, fans knew that he was in good hands.

Martin Lawrence Says Jamie Foxx Is “Doing Better”

“From the Foxx Family,” her Instagram post began. “We wanted to share that, my father, Jamie Foxx, experienced a medical complication yesterday. Luckily, due to quick action and great care, he is already on his way to recovery. We know how beloved he is and appreciate your prayers. The family asks for privacy during this time.” However, said news also came attached with early TMZ reports that this situation could’ve been much more life-threatening. “We’re told his condition was serious enough that Jamie’s family- some of whom were not in town- came to the hospital,” the outlet reported. “He’s communicating now, and that’s good news.”

Despite production issues and hijinks that plagued his Netflix film Back In Action during filming, it seems the set has continued with some work following this most recent (and largest) emergency. For example, his body double reportedly filmed some scenes with costar Cameron Diaz. As such, maybe what’s going on at the set indicates that Foxx will fully recover soon. Eddie Murphy Jokes That Martin Lawrence Is Paying For Their Children’s Wedding

Eddie Murphy and Martin Lawrence are undeniably two of the biggest names in comedy. As it turns out, their families might become intertwined in the near future, and if that’s the case, the former specifically expects the latter to pay for the wedding ceremony.

The duo’s children, Jasmin Lawrence and Eric Murphy have been publicly dating since June 2021. As it turns out, their parents aren’t the ones who first introduced them. According to PEOPLE, they previously “became really good friends because we bonded on a lot of things.”

The fact that they both grew up in Hollywood allowed the young couple to better “[understand] each other.” Additionally, Jasmin and Eric are both the firstborn children of their fathers.

Martin shares his daughter with his ex-wife, Patricia Southall. The German-born actor is also a father to 20-year-old Amara and 22-year-old Iyanna. As for Murphy, his aforementioned son is the eldest of 10. Eric’s mother is The Haunted Mansion‘s ex, Paulette McNeely.

“My daughter just got married, and I had to pay — really had to pay,” the 61-year-old explained. “You have to do the same, Martin. “Don’t try to switch it up — don’t try to change no shit, do no Hollywood switch. You’re paying for the wedding. If it goes down, Martin is paying. And the wedding better be wonderful.”

Besides planning a wedding, Eddie Murphy may also be back on a film set in the near future. He recently appeared alongside Nia Long, Jonah Hill, and Lauren London in Netflix’s You People, and now, the Brooklyn native has said that she’d love to act alongside the comedian in another romantic comedy.

Will Smith & Martin Lawrence Announce “Bad Boys 4”

Detectives Mike Lowrey and Marcus Burnett are returning to the screen for Bad Boys 4.

Will Smith and Martin Lawrence will return for a new installment in the buddy-cop film series. Sony Pictures confirmed Bad Boys 4 is currently in pre-production following recent speculation. Chris Bremner handled the script and Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah returned as the directors.

It doesn’t come as much of a surprise that the duo will return to their beloved roles. Bad Boys For Life debuted in 2020 and brought in $59M in its opening weekend at the box office. However, there have been several delays in the past three years, though the infamous Oscars moment wasn’t one of them. Sony chairman Tom Rothman revealed that the film wasn’t held up due to the controversial incident.

“No. That was inaccurate,” Rothman said. “That movie’s been in development and still is. There weren’t any brakes to pump because the car wasn’t moving. That was a very unfortunate thing that happened, and I don’t think it’s really my place to comment, except to say that I’ve known Will Smith for many years, and I know him to be a good person. That was an example of a very good person having a very bad moment, in front of the world. I believe his apology and regret is genuine, and I believe in forgiveness and redemption.”

In addition to Bad Boys 4, a report from The Sun indicated that Smith will also return to his role as Genie in the next Aladdin movie.

Martin Lawrence Says Chris Rock Didn’t Deserve To Be Slapped By Will Smith

The world has been revisiting Will Smith and Chris Rock’s infamous Oscars slap thanks to the former’s new film. Smith is in the thick of heavily promoting his movie Emancipation, and during the press run, he addressed slapping Rock on the Academy Awards stage. Throughout the year, several of Smith’s peers have stepped forward with their takes on the incident, including Martin Lawrence, who had more to say.

Smith and Lawrence have been good friends for decades, even starring in their blockbuster Bad Boys franchise. Lawrence also knows Rock, and during a recent interview, he shared his thoughts on the situation. “Well, it hurt me to see that happen,” said Lawrence. “Because I know both of them. Both of them are my brothers.”

He continued, “And when it happened, I text both of them after it happened, just to see how they were doing and everything. But, it was just an unfortunate situation.

“You know, Will wasn’t in the right space that night and Chris Rock didn’t deserve that. So, it’s such an unfortunate situation,” he added. “It’s like seeing your brothers fightin’ and you don’t want to see your brothers fightin’. Chris Rock didn’t deserve that at all.”

After Will Smith’s infamous slap at the Academy Awards this year, the King Richard actor was heavily scrutinized for his actions. He was banned from the awards show for 10 years even after leaving the Academy, and it was reported that many of his projects were put on hold as well.

However, it seems the slap won’t get in the way of one of the projects, according to legendary comedian and Bad Boys co-star Martin Lawrence.

In a new interview with Ebony magazine, Martin talked about the franchise saying how having an action movie with two Black leads was a big deal in Hollywood.

“It was big,” Martin said about the movie. “For us to come together and prove that we can deliver, and we can pull people into the box office—that two Black stars, two sitcom stars, could make money at the box office [was huge].” It also was an important pivot for him personally and professionally. “I didn’t go to college, so I felt TV was my college years,” explains Lawrence. “I felt with movies, I had graduated; it was just different.”

When asked if Will Smith’s Oscars incident will impact the creation of a 4th film, Lawrence said “We got one more at least.”
