Quavo Takes Teddy Swims To Magic City As Their New Song, “Georgia Ways,” Gets Mixed Reviews

Quavo shows Country superstar Teddy Swims a good time in Atlanta, supporting their new collaboration, “Georgia Ways.” The duo ventured to the iconic strip club, Magic City, to promote the new song and captured the country singer enjoying some peaches. A video of Huncho and Swims centered around strippers, making it rain ones, went viral on Saturday. As the duo enjoyed themselves, fans shared their mixed reactions to the new collaboration across social media.

An X user described the collaboration as “Quavo’s fall off.” They tweeted, “The fall off of Quavo hurts my heart. That dude been a$$ for a minute.” Another user claimed that Huncho’s first country track was the result of allegedly losing a rap battle to Chris Brown. The user tweeted: “Dude lost a rap beef with an R&B singer and turned into Tim McGraw. I can’t believe dude said you was the best in the group.” TM88, a known Migos producer, would come to Huncho’s defense, tweeting, “Hating on Quavo for being a musician is wild.”

Quavo & Teddy Swims Make It Rain At Magic City Supporting “Georgia Ways”

Released on Friday (Dec. 6), Quavo surprised fans with an unexpected country collaboration. The trio merges distinct musical styles into a defiant, genre-blending tribute to the Peach State. The accompanying visuals, filmed with a playful tone, amplify the energy of this unique collaboration. It’s another milestone for Quavo, who has been on a creative hot streak with high-profile pairings. “Georgia Ways” follows recent Huncho collaborations with Lana Del Rey, The Kid Laori, and Lenny Kravitz.

The brilliance of Georgia Ways lies in its ability to honor the diversity of Georgia’s musical legacy. It weaves together Atlanta’s iconic trap beats, the rich storytelling of country music, and the soulful undertones of R&B. The track feels both celebratory and experimental, showcasing how seemingly disparate genres can coexist when united by a shared cultural identity. Rich with Georgia-centric references, the track speaks directly to the locals while offering broader appeal through its universal themes of pride and resilience. In other news, Quavo recently previewed a new Takeoff track as a guest on Kai Cenat’s record-breaking livestream.

Drake Hires Marching Band To Perform Outside Magic City In Grand Effort To Troll Metro Boomin

Drake isn’t letting up on Metro Boomin on social media, amid their ongoing feud. Taking to his Instagram Story on Tuesday, he shared a meme referencing a bar on his new diss track, “Push Ups,” with which he tells the producer to “shut your h*e ass up and make some drums, n***a.” Additionally, he hired a marching band to perform outside of Magic City in Atlanta.

When DJ Akademiks shared a clip of the marching band on Instagram, users compared Drake’s level of trolling to 50 Cent. One fan joked: “He bullying Metro at this point because he literally can’t fight back.” Another user compared the antics to Rick Ross. “So this is funny but Ross is corny? The amount of passes yall give this n***a is insane,” they argued.

N***a, bum… ‘Fore all your dogs gettin’ buried / That’s a K with all these nines, he gon’ see Pet Sematary.” In the time since, Metro and Future dropped a second collaborative album featuring several more artists dissing Drake, including ASAP Rocky and The Weeknd. He finally responded with “Push Ups,” last week. Check out the latest antics from the feud below.

Janelle Monáe Took The Strip Club Stage, Hit The Pole, And Showed Off Her Dance Moves

There was a minute there, when Janelle Monáe began the promotional cycle for her album Lipstick Lover, when it seemed like every day, she was grabbing headlines for primarily NSFW or NSFW-adjacent reasons. She turned heads by dancing at a Met Gala after party and then turned even more with a wet t-shirt teaser video, and it continued from there. Monáe has been quieter on that front lately, but recently, the multi-hyphenate was spotted at Magic City, Atlanta’s famous strip club.

In a brief video clip, Monáe wears a relatively conservative dress as her own “Lipstick Lover” plays in the background. Standing on stage and holding onto a pole, Monáe busts out some simple dance moves that are good enough to get some dollar bills thrown in the air.

Monáe found herself in Atlanta as part of her tour in support of Lipstick Lover. She performed at the city’s Fox Theater on October 6, and Quavo even popped up to rap his part from Monáe’s recently released “Champagne Sh*t” remix,” which also features Latto.

Yesterday (October 9), Monáe shared a social media post reflecting on the show, writing, “I fail every time I try and describe this experience. Our safe oasis in every city. 6 more to go and I don’t want it to end. I love y’all so much and thank you for being on this journey with us.”

Janelle Monáe is a Warner Music artist. Uproxx is an independent subsidiary of Warner Music Group.

Janelle Monae Shows Off Dance Moves At Magic City Strip Club

In the world of music, reinvention is an essential component of an artist’s journey. It’s a process that allows them to explore new horizons, push boundaries, and challenge societal norms. Janelle Monáe, the multi-talented singer, and producer, has been doing just that over the past couple of years. Her transformation has been marked by a shift in her appearance. And a more liberating approach to her music and life. Known for her signature tuxedos and artful blend of R&B, funk, and Afrofuturism, Janelle Monáe has always been celebrated for her unique style and sound. Especially as of lately.

However, the Age Of Pleasure singer recently took her evolution to another level when she was spotted at Magic City in Atlanta. Monáe’s appearance at the renowned strip club in the heart of the city caught some by surprise. Futhermore, what caught everyone’s attention was not just her presence, but her bold choice to pole dance to her own music. Moreover, the video of Monáe’s impromptu performance has since circulated social media. In the clip, Monáe can be seen gracefully moving to the rhythm of her own song.

Janelle Monae Is No Stranger To Doing What She Wants

Moreover, this unexpected appearance at Magic City is just one facet of Monáe’s ongoing transformation. Her decision to reveal more of her body and embrace a more liberated approach to her music has been met with mixed reactions. Some applaud her for breaking free from the constraints of conventionality. Others have questioned the departure from her previous image. One recent example of being questioned is artist India.Arie who raised concerns. Subsequently, she expressed concern specifically about Megan Thee Stallion’s dancing and Janelle Monae’s breast exposure during their performances at the 2023 Essence Festival of Culture. In a comment on Instagram, India.Arie expressed her disapproval.

She emphasized the importance of considering context and exercising discernment. “The issue is what is CONTEXT,” India.Arie wrote. “Humanity does EVERYTHING. But does EVERYTHING BELONG IN A STAGE. No, is everything for KIDS? No, is everything for EVERY BODY? so when we as a culture make something like this main stream ~ it shows a lack of discretion [and] discernment.” “I LOVE Janelle AND Meg the way i love us all — AND i dont like this moment.” However, she continued. “Don’t bother debating me lol idc and I DO this. for 25 yrs i’ve done THIS. so. read ponder or don’t.” However, whether you view her recent activities as controversial or groundbreaking, one thing is certain: Janelle Monáe is unapologetically rewriting the rules of her own narrative and inviting us all to join her on this journey of self-discovery and artistic reinvention.

Latto & Waka Flocka Celebrate Release Of Her New Song At Magic City

Latto celebrated the release of her new song, “Issa Party,” alongside Waka Flocka at Magic City in Atlanta. The new tracks interpolates Focka’s 2010 classic, “Grove Street Party.” A video from the celebration is currently circulating on social media and features the two sharing a laugh while tossing money up in the air.

Latto doesn’t appear to be as friendly with everyone in the industry, as she targets her haters on the new song. “Bitch I’m red, not green, little hoe stop playin’ with me/I hate borin’ bitches, they be throwin’ off my energy/Stop callin’ me sis little hoe, you know you ain’t no kin to me!” she raps on the track. Basically, we here, the girls, are doing amazing. I’m excited to see it. I feel like the competition is what keeps us all excited because I think we all secretly enjoy competing and seeing who put that shit on better and who’s gon’ get the most views.” Check out the video of her dancing with Waka Flocka below.

Magic City Rebrands To “Latto City” Ahead Of Her New Song “Issa Party”

Latto is making quite the impression, and it’s evident that she knows how to capture the public’s attention! The renowned Atlanta strip club, none other than the legendary Magic City, has undergone a temporary transformation. It’s now going by the name “Latto City.” In viral videos circulating across the internet, viewers can observe the new transformation of the club’s iconic logo to reflect this unique rebranding. This change has been initiated as part of a promotional campaign for her upcoming single, “Issa Party.” The song, which will include rapper Baby Drill, is set to be released this Friday, Sept. 29.

Subsequently, Latto and her team’s decision to temporarily rebrand Magic City as “Latto City” is a striking demonstration of the power of artist-brand collaborations in the music industry. By aligning herself with an iconic establishment like Magic City, she not only generates buzz and excitement for her new single but also solidifies her presence in the Atlanta music scene. This is a city where Magic City holds significant cultural and entertainment value. Interestingly enough, it was announced earlier this year that Teyana Taylor is working as Latto’s creative director. Maybe she helped inspire this marketing decision?

In this artwork, Latto can be seen in front of balloon lettering spelling out “Issa Party.” Also, she’s pictured enjoying a birthday cake and playfully licking her fingers. The imagery sets an enticing tone for the release, building anticipation among her audience.

The “Put It On Da Floor” rapper’s transformation of Magic City is a vivid example of how artists can leverage creative promotional tactics to create a buzz around their music releases. As the release date for “Issa Party” approaches, her fans eagerly anticipate the new song. All while enjoying the playful transformation of a beloved Atlanta institution into “Latto City.” The song will feature rapper Baby Drill. He also posted about it on his IG with a caption that read “Issa Party drop Friday, and I got shots for all the opps issa holiday.”

Jermaine Dupri and Drake Team for Documentary on Magic City

Jermaine Dupri Offers Clarity To Forthcoming Freaknik Doc

Jermaine Dupri is not stopping at Freaknik with his documentary skills. Dupri announced he and Drake have teamed up for a cinematic look into the legendary strip club Magic City.

According to the Atlanta-Journal Constitution, the doc will be called Magic City: An-American Fantasy and will explore the club’s place in Hip-Hop history and launching artists we have come to love since 1985. The doc will highlight Magic City’s role in crime, entrepreneurship, and women’s sexuality and commodification.

“Magic City is a second home for me,” said Dupri. “It’s the one place where celebrities, hustlers, politicians, and Atlanta locals all come together. I’ve watched it evolve over the years from a local joint to an internationally recognized spot. It’s about time we tell this story the right way.”

Joining Dupri and Drake’s DreamCrew Entertainment in creating the doc are producer Cole Brown, production company Scheme Engine and actress and Atlanta Hawks co-owner Jami Gertz.

Series creator Cole Brown added: “This is a unique story of Black entrepreneurship and empire-building in a city that is the beating heart of Black culture. Future Fans Are Sending Him Fanmail At Atlanta’s Magic City Strip Club

Magic City is an Atlanta landmark, receiving numerous shout-outs in many rappers’ songs. Among those who’ve crafted odes to the home of the famous Lou Williams lemon pepper wings are Fivio Foreign and Quavo, who dropped “Magic City” earlier this year, and local heroes like Jeezy (“Magic City Monday”) and Future (“Magic”).

In fact, the latter has become so closely associated with the strip club, that fans have apparently begun sending him fan mail there, addressed to Nayvadius Wilburn, his government name. The club’s Instagram profile posted a photo of some of the letters, joking in the caption: “Come pick up your mail Mr. Owner!” Future himself responded in the comments: “on my way soon.”

The caption is probably a jokey reference to Future’s verse on 42 Dugg’s “Maybach,” on which he raps, “Magic City, I’m the owner / Tell Steve Harvey I don’t want her.” The line is also referenced in the account’s bio.

While Future may not actually be the club’s owner, he’s certainly given it plenty of new music for its employees to ply their trade. His new album I Never Liked You is out now featuring songs like “Puffin On Zootiez” and “Keep It Burning,” which helped lift it to No. 1 on the Billboard 200 — something he’ll surely be happy to celebrate with a trip to the club.

Fivio Foreign And Quavo Make It Rain Like It’s ‘Magic City’ On Their Swaggering Single

Fivio Foreign has established himself as one of the most popular names in hip-hop’s drill scene thanks to his ability to stay relevant since his breakout in 2019. Fivio arrived on the scene thanks to his summer 2019 hit “Big Drip” which rose to prominence with New York’s drill scene thanks to other records like Pop Smoke’s “Welcome To The Party” and “Dior.” Over the years, Fivio has released notable songs like “Headshot” with Lil Tjay and Polo G and “Zoo York” with Lil Tjay and Pop Smoke. One thing Fivio hasn’t done is release an album, but all of that is going to change next month with B.I.B.L.E.

Ahead of the project’s release, which was delayed from its original March 25 release date, Fivio teams up with Quavo for their new single “Magic City.” The track, which is named after the famed strip club in Atlanta, seems the rappers in a very confident state as they make it rain relentlessly at the club. It arrives as another strong offering from the album after Fivio connected with Kanye West and Alicia Keys for “City Of Gods” last month.

As for the delay behind B.I.B.L.E., Fivio explained his reason behind pushing the album back. “It ain’t really a reason or anything, I just wanted to make that sh*t perfect,” he said in a video posted to Instagram. I want it to be the perfect album. That sh*t is going to be viral.” He confirmed that the album would instead arrive on April 8.

You can check out the video for “Magic City” above.

B.I.B.L.E. is out 4/8 via Columbia Records.
