USHER Discloses Longing Desire To Work With Justin Timberlake On New Music

No one can stop talking about USHER right now. But it is for good reason. The legendary R&B superstar has had a lot of important and exciting things going on in his life. If you were one of the few people who were not watching the Super Bowl this past weekend, he was the Halftime Show performer. To help celebrate that, he dropped his new album COMING HOME. Because of everything going on with him, everyone is reaching out for interviews. People got a hold of him and they talked about all the events in his life and one other unique topic. USHER was asked about Justin Timberlake and his willingness to work with him on new music.

It kind of makes sense why this question came up. Timberlake is an icon in his own right and was step for step with USHER in the early 2000s. Both had massive hits and even though they were/are fairly close no music has come out of their friendship. But, many painted them as rivals and USHER was asked about that. He shut that down according to AllHipHop, saying, “I’m in competition with no one other than myself… I’ve been motivated by people like Justin. I think that he has a legacy that should be respected and not compared to anybody else.”

In fact, USHER doubled down by saying he has always wanted to work with JT. “I’ve always wanted to do a record with Justin and have reached out many times, but we’ve never managed to make it happen. I think that he’s an amazing performer.” Maybe that window of opportunity is open right now. Justin does have his new album, Everything I Thought It Was, on March 15, so maybe they can eek out a collab before it drops.

Andre 3000 shocked the music industry with his brand-new album, New Blue Sun, this past Friday, November 17. It was a triumphant day, to say the least, to check out unheard music from the legend. While some were let down by the fact that it was an instrumental album, the pieces of music within the tracklist were absolutely beautiful. He made something that was true to him and it is easily one of the best projects of the year.

Because of this eight-song project, he has been the talk of the town recently. He has done some interviews with large publications like GQ. It was interesting to hear his insight on what compelled him to come out with this album. There were a lot of things to take away from this sit-down, one of them being who he feels represents him musically today.

Against popular belief, there are plentiful amounts of experimental artists in rap today. Two of those include Tyler, The Creator and Teezo Touchdown. Both have their idiosyncracies and are always looking toward the future of what still can be done with music. Well, both of them got a huge shoutout from Andre in the clip above. “I see it visually. I see it more in spirit and people pushing things and trying things, and I love the spirit.” He continues, “Like you see Tyler and them, you see Teezo Touchdown and those guys and you’re like, ‘ah.’” 3000 further explains that they are not copycats, but yet a new version of him that is unique. “The coolest thing is it’s not like a signing, it’s not like a copy. It’s the next, it’s a lineage.”

Travis Scott Thinks Back To A Car Ride With Stormi And How That Inspired “UTOPIA”

Travis Scott has revealed a lot to us and the rest of the music world over the past few hours with his feature in GQ magazine. From giving us an inside look at his thoughts on the Astroworld tragedy to his desire to hit the books and become an architect, and even turning UTOPIA into a musical, there is a lot to unpack. Travis is clearly one of the biggest rappers in the world and that is because of his excellent record. Fans waited five years and they got a GRAMMY-nominated tape. What was so cool about UTOPIA was that it ditched the traditional formula that the Houston artist has put forth.

While it does draw heavy inspiration from Kanye West’s Yeezus, it still feels uniquely Travis. One of the reasons for that is due in part to a car ride with his daughter, Stormi. In the interview, he details how he brought back the 2013-2014 La Flame era that many longtime fans would call it. “I was actually riding with Stormi… we were getting fireworks in Houston… Her favorite song is “Mamacita”—it’s like, her favorite song of all time. She plays it all the time in the car, over and over and over, and that’s from this mixtape Days Before Rodeo.”

He continues, “Just hearing that song over and over just reminded me of that time. I wanted to get back to the essence of who Travis Scott was as, like, a creator of music and sound, he said. “To just go back to the core, what got me here, which is producing and creating and the raw format of how I’ve started making music. And I got so excited about that.” It sounds like a special moment for the daddy and daughter and you can certainly hear elements of that time in his career. Prime examples of this are “LOOOVE,” “LOST FOREVER,” and “HYAENA.”

PinkPantheress is one of the more intriguing and new female artists to pop off in the hip-hop and R&B scene. While she is not directly within those two genres, the Bath, England singer is bringing some funky and quirky vibes that are shaking things up. So far, it is continuing to bring her loads of success in a very short time frame. In fact, it was around the middle of 2021 that PinkPantheress started to release some tracks to streaming. Additionally, she put out her first-ever project that year with to hell with it. That contains some of her most popular songs “Pain” and “Break It Off – Bonus.”

Of course, we cannot forget about what she and Ice Spice did together on “Boy’s a liar Pt. 2.” The irresistibly cute instrumental along with the sad and honest lyrics about boys being toxic won so many people over. It has already racked up over 700 million streams since its release at the beginning of February. While grabbing Ice Spice for that song was a big deal, she could have caught an even bigger fish.

In a recent interview with i-D, she brutally recalled a time when she could have landed a placement on a Kendrick song. NFR Podcast tweeted an excerpt from the story and it is honestly gut-wrenching. “Oh f***, I can’t even think about it. I was watching Nightcrawler with this guy.” You might be wondering why she did not pick up and put a pause on the date for King Kendrick. Well, PinkPanthress’s date asked her to put her phone on silent. We do not know if she was expecting the call or not. However, that guy hopefully feels real awful about it.

Lil Baby Finally Addresses Long-Rumored Drake Collab Album

For a lot of people, Lil Baby washed Drake on “Wants and Needs,” and given their extensive collaborative history, fans would love to see a showdown between them for a whole project. That’s exactly the rumor that Black Coffee started back in March, making fans start anticipating a Baby and Drizzy joint album. “[Quality Control Music’s Coach K] had said to me, ‘Lil Baby and Drake are making an album. It’s possible that Drake is retiring,’” the producer claimed on Podcast and Chill with MacG. While neither artist addressed these claims outright, we now have a… somewhat conclusive response from the Atlanta MC.

Moroever, XXL recently sat down with the QCM signee for an interview, during which the publication asked him about the Drake speculation. Unfortunately, the It’s Only Me creative wasn’t exactly clear when responding to these rumors, although that only adds to anticipation and the mythos behind it. “Maybe so. Maybe not,” Lil Baby told XXL, and the lack of outright denial is enough to keep fans excited. However, with both their careers looking at another phase soon, maybe this year wouldn’t be the best time to oversaturate their releases.

That’s relevant because Baby teased an upcoming solo project dropping soon, along with that of his other label members. “I’m actually going to drop an album this summer and my artist, Rylo Rodriguez, will be dropping an album this summer,” Lil Baby remarked to the publication. Rodriguez did, in fact, drop Been One earlier in June, but it’s been radio silent on the studio album front from the 4PF leader so far this year. Summer’s technically not over, but unless he drops this Friday (August 25), then a sunny release seems improbable.

Meanwhile, considering other hits like “Yes Indeed” (and misses like “Girls Want Girls”), teaming up with Drake could yield great and retributive results for the 28-year-old. Sure, it isn’t the most consistent run of team-ups, but the two artists certainly compliment one another quite well.
