The Dancers Suing Lizzo Over Alleged Sexual Harassment And More Told Their Story On ‘Today’

Over the past couple days, Lizzo has faced some troubling allegations. It was reported yesterday (August 1) that the singer/rapper was being sued by three of her former dancers over a number of accusations, including sexual harassment and creating a hostile work environment. Now, two of them appears on Today this morning to share their perspective.

Arianna Davis, who first joined Lizzo’s dance team after competing on her show Watch Out for the Big Grrrls, said of Lizzo allegedly taking exception to her gaining weight, “I just had this feeling they had a problem with the way I was gaining weight. […] She proceeded to say, ‘You know, dancers get fired for gaining weight. You should basically be grateful to be here.”

Crystal Williams also noted of how Lizzo would treat her and others, “She would pick and choose when she wanted to be professional and when she wanted things to be personal. […] You go from preaching about sisterhood to then turning around and saying that it’s a privilege that you know us by name.”

[WATCH] Fans Notice Beyoncé Skips Lizzo’s Name During “Break My Soul (The Queens Remix)” During Tour Stop

Lizzo Announces New Single "Rumors" for August 13

Fans at the Renaissance World Tour in Boston pointed out that Beyoncé skipped over Lizzo’s name during her “Queens Remix” performance of “Break My Soul.” The segment normally lists the iconic women throughout music history. During that performance, Beyoncé repeated Erykah Badu‘s last name instead.

This follows a scathing lawsuit that accused Lizzo of multiple forms of harassment and discrimination. You can read more on that here.

Fans also pointed out Beyoncé using Badu could also be the acknowledgment of the Neo Soul legend shading her over her tour wardrobe choices. You can read more on that here.

Lizzo Sued by Dancers Who Site Sexual Harassment and Racial, Religious, and Weight Discrimination

Lizzo

Lizzo is the subject of a new lawsuit from three of her tour dancers who state they worked in a hostile work environment. The dancers also claimed they were also subjected to sexual harassment, which included being pressured to touch naked dancers at a sex show in Europe.

In a lawsuit detailed by NBC News, dancers Arianna Davis, Crystal Williams, and Noelle Rodriguez levy Lizzo and her company Big Grrrl Big Touring Inc with racial, religious, and weight discrimination allegations.

Inside the lawsuit, Lizzo is claimed to host after-parties for her shows. Dancers attended the shows as they often would provide more favor and job security. At one post-event sex show in Amsterdam, Lizzo pressured dancers to engage with the formers.

“Lizzo began inviting cast members to take turns touching the nude performers, catching dildos launched from the performers’ vaginas, and eating bananas protruding from the performers’ vaginas,” the accusations state. “Lizzo then turned her attention to Ms. Davis and began pressuring Ms. Davis to touch the breasts of one of the nude women performing at the club.”

Lizzo also is accused of pushing her religious beliefs on dancers while also teasing them about their virginity and sexual choices and also simulating oral sex on a banana in front of the dancers. Additionally, Lizzo questioned a dancer’s weight after a South by Southwest performance, citing they may not take their career as seriously as other dancers.

Speaking with Billboard, the dancers’ attorney, Ron Zambrano, commented the weight shaming went “against everything Lizzo stands for publicly, while privately she weight-shames her dancers.”

One of the dancers, Davis, privately recorded a meeting leading to threats from Lizzo and being “aggressively approached” with balled fists.

Beyonce Responds To Erykah Badu, Seemingly Disses Lizzo

Beyonce is easily one of the biggest artists in the world. Overall, this isn’t exactly much of a statement. Instead, it is a rehashing of the truth. That said, she is currently in the spotlight thanks to her incredible RENAISSANCE tour. The tour has made its way to North America, and last night, she was performing in Massachusetts. Although some would assume that this would be a regular show, it turns out that it was an opportunity for Bey to speak on some of the controversy that has been conjured up over the last couple of days.

For instance, Erykah Badu recently called her out for taking her style. “Hmm. I guess I’m everyone’s stylist. My favorite chrome mirror hat,” Badu said upon seeing one of Beyonce’s tour outfits. Moreover, the superstar’s associate Lizzo is currently being sued by three dancers. The lawsuit stems from allegations of sexual harassment, weight shaming, and a whole list of other offenses. As you will see in the video down below, Beyonce seemingly responded to both controversies while performing “Break My Soul (The Queens Remix).”

Beyonce In Massachusetts

Beyonce decided to change the lyrics of the song. In one of the sections, she typically sings “Badu, Lizzo, Kelly Rowl.” However, during this recent performance, she just sang “Badu, Badu, Badu, Badu.” On one hand, this essentially allowed her to pay homage to Badu, while also removing Lizzo from the song in one fell swoop. Although Beyonce didn’t comment directly on either situation, it is very clear where she stands on all of this.

There is no doubt that this RENAISSANCE tour has helped create a ton of interesting storylines. Furthermore, Beyonce is featured on Travis Scott’s Utopia, which has led to even more attention. At this stage in her career, Bey is at the top of her game, and it has been a pleasure to watch. Let us know if you will be seeing her on tour, in the comments section down below. Beyoncé Seemingly Skips Over Lizzo’s Name In Her ‘Break My Soul (The Queens Remix)’ Performance Following The Allegations

Tuesday, August 1, news broke that Lizzo is being sued by three of her former dancers over accusations of sexual harassment and a hostile work environment. Though the “About Damn Time” singer hasn’t addressed the situation, Beyoncé may have.

Beyoncé is currently on The Renaissance Tour (of which Lizzo attended the Warsaw date). Videos have surfaced on social media showing Beyoncé seemingly skipping over Lizzo’s name during “Break My Soul (The Queens Remix),” instead repeating Erykah Badu’s name four times. This took place at the Gillette Stadium in Foxborough, Massachusetts.

Other allegations in the lawsuit included religious and racial harassment, false imprisonment, interference with prospective economic advantage, and more. Lizzo also allegedly falsely accused dancers of drinking on the job and pressured a dancer to touch a nude performer in Amsterdam.

Last month, Lizzo made a TikTok in appreciation of Beyoncé. “There are days where the hate outweighs the love so badly that I want to quit music and just disappear,” she said, “I definitely have enough money to go and buy a farm and just never f*ck with anybody ever again, because f*ck everybody. Then, I reminded myself to get up, get out, and get some sun, and I put on Renaissance.”

Lizzo Is Being Sued By Three Of Her Former Dancers For Sexual Harassment And A Hostile Work Environment

Lizzo, who is known for her body positivity and optimistic music, is being accused of sexual harassment and creating a hostile work environment by three of her former dancers, according to NBC News. In a lawsuit filed today, one dancer accused Lizzo of calling out her weight gain and firing her for recording a meeting.

Other allegations mentioned in the lawsuit include Lizzo falsely accusing dancers of drinking on the job, leading to an “excruciating” audition, and the singer pressuring them to touch a nude performer in Amsterdam. The plaintiffs also complain that Lizzo’s dance team captain, Shirlene Quigley, made inappropriate sexual comments while chastising members of the team who had premarital sex. They believe that Lizzo was aware of the complaints against Quigley, but did not take action.

In addition to the hostile work environment and sexual harassment claims, the lawsuit also claims religious and racial harassment, false imprisonment, interference with prospective economic advantage, and more, although not every claim applies to every defendant. The defendants are named as Lizzo (Melissa Viviane Jefferson), Quigley, and Lizzo’s production company, Big Grrrl Big Touring, Inc.

Two of the defendants, Arianna Davis and Crystal Williams, joined Lizzo’s dance team after competing on her show Watch Out for the Big Grrrls, while the third, Noelle Rodriguez, was hired after performing in the “Rumors” video. Davis and Williams were fired, while Rodriguez quit earlier this year.

Lizzo Released The ‘Bad Day’ Version Of Her Song ‘Pink’ From The ‘Barbie’ Soundtrack

On the star-studded Barbie soundtrack, Lizzo opens the collection of songs with “Pink,” an ode to Barbie’s favorite color. While the song has become a fan-favorite on the soundtrack, garnering over 14.2 million loops on TikTok, according to a press release, a different version of the song plays during the movie, in a particularly notable moment.

Without spoiling the movie, a darker version of “Pink” plays in a scene where Margot Robbie’s Barbie character is experiencing an existential crisis. This particular version was not included on Barbie The Album, however it has since been released to streaming services today (July 29), in the form of “Pink (Bad Day).”

Though “Pink (Bad Day)” clocks in at just over a minute long, the song encapsulates a key moment in the movie. We’d share some lyrics, but even those might be spoilers for those who haven’t seen it.

Following the premiere of Barbie last weekend, a special edition of the soundtrack titled Barbie The Album: Best Weekend Ever Edition was released, featuring Ryan Gosling’s cover of Matchbox 20’s “Push” and Brandi Carlile and Caroline Carlile’s cover of Indigo Girls’ “Closer To Fine.”

Lizzo Delivered A Cinematic Rendition Of ‘Concerning Hobbits’ With Her Recorder In New Zealand

Lizzo is a woman of many talents — singing, songwriting, dancing, and flute-playing. But if you’re one of her fans, you probably know this already. Still, she always finds a way to keep the surprises coming. Today (June 27), the “About Damn Time” hitmaker took to TikTok to share a special recorder rendition of a cinema classic.

Dressed in true Lord Of The Rings fashion, Lizzo played the songs “Concerning Hobbits” from the film series with her handy-dandy recorder.

The clip arrived after Lizzo’s show in Auckland, New Zealand, and she paid a visit to the city’s Matamata film set. Earlier in the week, she shared a clip of herself playing the song on the recorder, which had also gone viral.

In addition to the TikTok, Lizzo shared a series of posts on Instagram of herself and her boyfriend Myke Wright visiting the set.

“House hunting,” she captioned one of the carousels, in which, she was seen wearing an all-green outfit with a pounamu necklace, while standing in front of a Hobbitown home.

In another post, Lizzo re-shared the TikTok video to her Instagram page, and captioned it “Lizzolas in her natural habitat…”

Lizzo Is Baffled By The Congressional Hearing About UFOs, Simply Asking ‘WTF’

Lizzo is among music’s foremost newsmakers, but she’s repeatedly proved that she’s a diligent observer of the news cycle as well. Between contributing to the Barbie soundtrack and headlining her ongoing Special Tour, Lizzo somehow had time to comment on congressional developments.

On Wednesday, July 26, former Air Force Intelligence Officer David Grusch testified to Congress before a House Oversight subcommittee. Per the Associated Press, Retired Maj. Grusch asserted that “the US is concealing a longstanding program that retrieves and reserve engineers unidentified flying objects [UFOs]” and “likely has been aware of ‘non-human’ activity since the 1930s.” The Pentagon has denied his claims.

According to NBC News, Grusch also claimed “he has interviewed individuals who have recovered ‘non-human biologics’ from crashed UAPs” — opting to use “non-human” in favor of “alien.”

After the news broke, Lizzo tweeted (or Xeeted?), “Aye.. I know there’s a lot of pop culture news and memes going on rn but… THE GOVERNMENT JUST STATED *UNDER OATH* THAT THEY ARE IN POSSESSION OF UFOs AND NON-HUMAN ALIEN BODIES YALL WTF.”

It’s far from the first (or, surely, last) time Lizzo has used her social media account to process news in real time. In March, she tweeted about transphobia in relation to racism. A separate March tweet drew attention to anti-LGBTQIA legislation and Jim Crow laws.

As for Wednesday’s news, Blink-182’s Tom DeLonge was delighted to hear someone else believes “aliens f*cking exist.”
