Lil Wayne To Debut New Single At Wrestlemania 40 In Philly

sebastian @srodriguez92 LILWAYNE 6268

Lil Wayne is set to premiere a brand-new single at WrestleMania 40 this weekend in the City of Brotherly Love.

Tunechi made the announcement during a surprise appearance on WWE RAW on Monday night (April 3). During a backstage segment, professional wrestler Jey Uso crossed paths with the rapper and asked him to pull up for the big event.

“I’ma be there and you know what, I’m bringing my single,” the Hot Boys veteran responded emphatically. “World premiere. WrestleMania. You know what it is.”

While he has not specified what song he will be performing, it will most likely be his upcoming single with Young Thug titled “Bless,” which will be featured on the  Weezy vs. Wheezy collaborative album with producer Wheezy.

The 41-year-old announced the song’s release on Friday (April 4) along with a visualizer that features a wrestling ring.

WrestleMania XL is scheduled to take place at Lincoln Financial Field in Philadelphia, PA on Saturday (April 6) and Sunday (April 7), with Wayne’s set for the first night.

Tickets are available to purchase here.

Lil Wayne And Young Thug Will Reunite To ‘Bless’ Hip-Hop On Their Upcoming Single

Young Thug remains embroiled in the YSL Racketeer Influenced And Corrupt Organizations (RICO) trial in Fulton County, Georgia, stemming from his, Gunna’s, and 26 other defendantsarrest in May 2022. Despite his imprisonment, Young Thug has released Business Is Business, revealed a forthcoming apparel brand, and served up several features, including on Kid Cudi’s Insano.

On Wednesday, April 3, Lil Wayne announced “Bless” featuring Young Thug. An Instagram teaser presents Thugger and Weezy on an animated card in a flaming wrestling ring.

On March 26, Lil Wayne announced “Weezy Vs. Wheezy” (stylized as “WvW”) will arrive on Friday, April 5. “YOUNG MONEY PRESENTS WEEZY VS WHEEZY,” the pre-save link teases alongside a poster showing Lil Wayne and producer Wheezy. “THIS IS COMING, HELL OR HIGH WATER 4/5/2024.”

Throughout this week, Lil Wayne has been hooking his promotion around WWE’s WrestleMania 40, which is set for Saturday, April 6, and Sunday, April 7, at Lincoln Financial Field in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

As of this writing, it’s unclear if “Weezy Vs Wheezy” is a single or full-blown collaborative project, but announcing “Bless” in the same aesthetic vein as “WVW” is leading some people to believe that it could be a full-blown project.

Regardless, Wayne and Young Thug linking up for a song is noteworthy in itself, given their extensive history, as chronicled by Billboard.

Young Thug is a Warner Music artist. Uproxx is an independent subsidiary of Warner Music Group.

Something tells me this year’s Kelce Jam will be even more popular than it was last year. On May 18, Super Bowl-winning Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce — who you might have heard is dating Taylor Swift — will throw the second annual Kelce Jam at the Azura Amphitheater in Bonner Springs, Kansas. The lineup is headlined by Lil Wayne, Diplo, and 2 Chainz.

Other highlights include Travis Kelce’s Backyard BBQ (“This oversized BBQ activation will bring Kelce Jam fans together to enjoy the best KC BBQ and delectable custom Jim Beam cocktails all in one place”); the Uncrustables Uncrustival carnival, an homage to “Travis’ favorite peanut butter and jelly sandwich”; and a special guest appearance by… never mind, she’s busy.

“Kansas City, Kelce Jam is back baby! I’m excited to once again welcome fans for the ultimate day of music, food, and an electric experience celebrating Kansas City,” Kelce said in a statement. “Last year you exceeded my expectations when over 20,000 fans showed up in the rain to ‘fight for your right to party,’ and this year promises to be even more over the top as we welcome Lil Wayne, Diplo, and 2Chainz to the stage!”

Tickets for Kelce Jam go on sale on Friday, although you can register online now. General admission tickets cost $49.99, while VIP passes start at $249.99. You can find more information here.

Lil Wayne Will Debut His Anticipated New Single At Wrestlemania 40

Lil Wayne is officially in the mix. The legendary rapper confirmed that he will be one of several notable celebrities to attend Wrestlemania 40 in Philadelphia. Wayne made the announcement during a brief but memorable interaction with superstar Jey Uso on the most recent episode of WWE Monday Night RAW. Not only will he be attending, but the rapper will be debuting a new song as well.

Uso was starstruck upon bumping into Wayne backstage, and urged the rapper to make time in his busy schedule to “come through” to Philly. Of course, Wayne didn’t take much convincing. “Imma be there and you know what, I’m bringing my single,” he asserted. “World premiere. WrestleMania. You know what it is.” The title of the single, and its producer, have yet to be announced. Nevertheless, Uso is eager to hear it. He gave Wayne a taste of his signature catchphrase “yeet” upon learning about the rapper’s plans, and got a “yeet” in return!

Lil Wayne announced the song on RAW

A new single from Lil Wayne may not seem like a big deal, given the rapper’s massive output, but it’s actually been a while since he dropped solo material. He put out the 2 Chainz collab album Welcome 2 Collegrove and the mixtape Tha Fix Before Tha VI at the end of 2023, but he hasn’t released a new solo single since September. Wayne is currently working on the anticipated album Tha Carter VI, which was announced back in 2022. The new single will stand next to previous Carter VI era tracks like “Kant Nobody” featuring DMX and “Kat Food.”

It’s a good year to be a Wayne fan living in Philadelphia. In addition to the rapper’s Wrestlemania 40 appearance, he will be performing at the 2024 Roots Picnic at the Mann in Fairmount Park. Wayne will co-headline the event with R&B singer and Philly native Jill Scott. Other notable performers at the Roots Picnic include Andre 3000, Gunna and Victoria Monet.

Before his match on Monday, “Main Event” Jey Uso encountered Weezy F Baby backstage and invited him to Wrestlemania. Wayne accepted and revealed he would be bringing his new single with him.

Lil Wayne ‘Got Treated Like Sh*t’ At A Lakers Game And Thinks It’s Because Of An Old Anthony Davis Take

The Los Angeles Lakers needed overtime on Thursday night, but by the time the dust settled, the team picked up a 134-131 win over the Washington Wizards at Crypto.com Arena. Like most Lakers home games, there were celebrities in attendance, with one of them taking to Twitter after the game to voice his frustrations about how he was treated.

Lil Wayne tweeted that he “got treated like sh*t at the Laker game just now,” although as he tells it, he isn’t surprised this happened. In his eyes, some remarks about Anthony Davis from earlier in the 2023-24 season are likely behind all of this.

For context, back in November, Lil Wayne appeared on the FS1 show Undisputed and expressed his belief that Los Angeles couldn’t win a championship with Davis on the team. As he explained, this is “because he’s AD … he shows us them spurts every other other night — it used to be every night, then every other.”

He ended up going on Undisputed on Friday and dove into this even further.

At the time of these comments, the Lakers were 3-5 on the year and Davis had just missed his first game of the season, a 34-point road loss to the Houston Rockets. The good news for L.A. is that Davis has mixed durability with production as well as ever this year, as he’s played in 57 of a potential 61 games while averaging 25.1 points, 12.3 rebounds, 3.6 assists, 2.4 blocks, and 1.1 steals in 35.8 minutes per game.
