Lil Baby Gives His Mom An Adorable Shoutout On “SNL”

He made his Saturday Night Live solo debut over the weekend, and people can’t stop talking about Lil Baby. The Georgia rapper has only reached new heights as his career progresses. After having one monumental year after another, it’s hard to believe this was his first time flying solo on the longstanding sketch comedy series.

Although his performances of “California Breeze” and “Forever” were his highlights, Baby’s reactions during the closing credits were what went viral.

As they usually do, SNL brought out the cast along with host Michael B. Jordan. Lil Baby was seen with a wide grin on his face as he enjoyed his appearance on the show. He threw up several peace signs to the camera and the cast behind him.

At one point, he made sure to make a certain family member feel extra special as he mouthed, “Hi, mom!”

Even Jordan took a moment to smile and laugh with Baby as they closed out another successful episode.

Meanwhile, La La Anthony recently had some kind words to say about the rapper. She and her BMF co-star Da’Vinchi visited The Jason Lee Show, where Anthony revealed Baby did some volunteer work for her prison reform group.

They had an outreach at Rikers Island, and on the day his last album dropped, Baby curved initial celebrations to attend the event with Anthony. While there, he gave words of encouragement, and La La admired him for his participation.

He’s sitting atop a mountain of successes, but Lil Baby makes sure to take time for his community. Hip Hop is plagued with allegations of being only focused on materialistic gain. While some of that may be true, the culture regularly supports initiatives to help those in need.

La La Anthony and Da’Vinchi visited The Jason Lee Show, where they discussed working together or BMF and facing off against dating rumors. Also, while there, Lee brought up Lil Baby, and Anthony took a moment to acknowledge the community work the rapper does behind the scenes.

“I wanna say something about Lil Baby,” Anthony began. “I have a prison reform group, and he came, and he talked to the kids at Rikers Island in my prison reform group. The day his album dropped. I thought that was so special that he did that the day his album dropped.”

She continued: “He loves to give back.”

Lee admitted that he doesn’t listen to much of the newer generation of Rap. However, he’s a big fan of Baby “because of how he gives back to the community.”

Anthony added, “Absolutely. And he really showed up for the kids.”

As those kind words circulate online, Baby is fresh off a Saturday Night Live performance. Over the weekend, he took to the sketch comedy show’s stage to give a rendition of “Forever” and “California Breeze.” The episode featured host Michael B. Jordan whose appearance sparked conversations of its own after he seemingly cracked jokes about his breakup with Lori Harvey.

Breakups can be hard, but sometimes they can also be funny. Michael B. Jordan took to SNL this weekend (where he was joined by Lil Baby as a musical guest) to poke fun at the breakup- and himself.

The Creed actor and director cracked jokes about how his breakup with Harvey was his first public breakup (the two ended things in June of 2022). He joked that while most people get in shape after a breakup, he was already in peak physical condition from shooting Creed, to which he responded, “So I had to be like, ‘All right, I guess I’ll learn a new language,’” following up with, “estoy en Raya!” in heavily English-accented Spanish.

He appeared to take a few subtle jabs at Harvey by parading out four female cast members including Chloe Fineman, Heidi Gardner, Punkie Johnson, and Ego Nwodim, who all fawned over the star with Nwodim going so far as to rock a wedding dress.

He then noted that he didn’t have to worry about the internet finding many sad images of him online thanks to the famous “sad Michael Jordan” meme.

He also shared a throwback clip of himself at age 16 when he made his soap opera debut, joking about his “howling scene.”

The full opening monologue can be seen below.

He also appeared in skits mocking Southwest Airlines, a “Alpha” male confidence seminar host, a video game voiceover session, and more.

Lil Baby performed hits including “California Breeze” and “Forever.”

Lil Baby Delivered An Emotional Performance Of ‘Forever’ On ‘Saturday Night Live’

In his second performance of the night, Lil Baby brought an emotional performance of his song, “Forever,” to the Saturday Night Live stage.

During the performance, Lil Baby was dressed in all black, joined by a pianist, who played flawless notes while Lil Baby rapped the melodic It’s Only Me standout. Though the song’s collaborator, Fridayy, who sings on the chorus, wasn’t present during the performance, Lil Baby’s stage presence matched the energy of the hook.

Over the years, Baby’s sound has evolved greatly, and last year’s It’s Only Me cemented him as one of rap’s best acts in the game right now. Albeit a rap superstar, whose career trajectory is only proving that he’s destined for longevity, Baby revealed in a profile for New York Times that he will never forget who and what he’s doing it all for — his hometown of Atlanta.

“The main thing that I do still keep with me from Atlanta, when I go everywhere, is me,” he said. “My upbringing, my manners, my way of thinking, my way of living. Everything comes from Atlanta. No matter where I go, I’ll never be able to get distance from Atlanta.”

You can check out the performance above.

Lil Baby Rocked Out In A Performance Of ‘California Breeze’ On ‘Saturday Night Live’

Tonight (January 28), rapper Lil Baby made his debut on Saturday Night Live. He took to the stage for a performance of “California Breeze” from his third studio album, It’s Only Me.

During his performance, Lil Baby was dressed in a luxurious green vest with matching pants. The rapper was joined by several instrumentalists, including a keyboardist and an electric guitarist, giving the song a rock-style sound. Colorful lights surrounding the stage added to the performance’s electrifying feel.

It’s Only Me reached No. 1 on the Billboard 200 upon its release last October, and was one of the most streamed albums of 2022. Even having accomplished these remarkable feats, making albums comes as second nature to Lil Baby.

In a recent interview with XXL, Baby revealed that he doesn’t see himself as competing with anyone in the rap game. He prefers to go with his own flow and let the music speak for itself.

“I’m the only person where I’m like I’m tryna outdo, ya feel me? he said. “..I just know to do what I suppose to do and it just like always happens for me that way, feel me? I’ll outdo myself with no problem.”
