Future Gets Called Out For Downplaying His Role In Drake Beef

In an upcoming interview with GQ, Future and Metro Boomin discuss their creative processes, collaborative albums, and more. Of course, the duo also touched on the viral beef between Kendrick Lamar, Drake, and various other artists that took the world by storm this year. It was ignited when Kendrick joined them on their We Don’t Trust You track, “Like That.” Future’s remarks in particular have caught social media users’ attention, as he seemingly downplayed his role in the feud.

“There was a beef?” he jokingly asked, “I didn’t even know there was a beef. I didn’t even know they had nothing going on. I ain’t never participated in rap battles, man.” Future went on to suggest that he actually has a right to be upset about Kendrick’s “Like That” verse, as it left him out of the Big Three conversation entirely.

Future Claims He’s Cool With Everyone

I’m supposed to be the one who gets mad; I’m still confused about that,” he explained. “Nobody cares what I think. That’s what was so f*cked up about the sh*t. To the point where I’m so player that I ain’t even said anything about how I feel about it […] Like, why is everybody mad when he was talking about me on my song? So y’all just forgot about me, I ain’t part of this Big Three, I’m nobody on my song, man.”

Future then claimed that he has no issues with any of the artists involved, contrary to popular belief. “Who I’m not cool with? Because I ain’t got nothing to be mad about. Find something I should be mad at them about, then I guess I’ll get mad,” he said. “Got no reason to be mad at nobody. I just told you, I’m chilling. Do I sound like I’m mad at anybody?

TDE Punch Clears Up Ab-Soul And J Cole Rumors With Important Clarification About “Pi”

TDE Punch has clarified that J Cole’s song, “Pi,” was recorded long before Kendrick Lamar, Future, and Metro Boomin dropped “Like That,” earlier this year. In response to HipHopDX’s Jeremy Hecht, Punch shot down rumors that Cole included him on the song intentionally to diss Kendrick Lamar.

Hecht had written: “Ab-Soul threw jabs at J. Cole after Cole did him dirty by adding him & Daylyt to a song with a verse dissing Kendrick on ‘Pi’ – this is a question for rap fans. Cole dropped out with Kendrick but he still claims his pen is unmatched. Does he have to engage w Soul to prove it?” As fans begin debating the validity of the theory, Punch replied: “I hate to clear up rumors, I usually let them fester and see how far they go, but ALL verses on Pi were recorded long before Like That.”

Afterward, Hecht added: “Glad Punch clarified but just so everyone knows… I wasn’t making that theory up out of thin air.. Glasses Malone who is close to all of those people said on a livestream that Cole recorded that verse later and that Soul didn’t hear it. I was basing things off that.” With the release of “Like That,” Lamar shook up the entirety of hip-hop by dissing both Cole and Drake. While Cole quickly bowed out of the feud, Lamar and Drake traded numerous diss tracks in the following months.

Punch Clears The Air

Check out Punch’s full post about the drama below. It comes after Soul seemingly dissed OVO’s Chubbs during his freestyle for Funk Flex on Monday. Additionally, Cole reflected on the feud in his song, “Port Antonio,” last week. Be on the lookout for further updates on Ab-Soul, J Cole, and Kendrick Lamar on HotNewHipHop.

Kendrick Lamar’s Drake Diss Songs Reportedly Earned The Rapper Six-Figures In Streaming Income

Kendrick Lamar’s musical melee with Drake has finally ended. However, its impact can still be felt — not only across the charts, but apparently in Lamar’s pockets.

According to HITS Daily Double, across Lamar’s fiery tracks, in just this week (week ending 5/09), he supposedly pulled in an estimated $562,368. In the age of streaming, several musicians (such as Snoop Dogg) have expressed their frustrations with each platform’s pay model. On the flip side, for Lamar the feud has seemingly proven to be lucrative, specifically in relation to his streaming income.

Not Like Us” alone reportedly grossed a total streaming revenue of $264,325 (58,739,000 counted streams). The second highest streamed (45,755,00) solo diss track from Lamar, “Euphoria,” is estimated to have earned $205,896. Lastly, with a total stream count of 20,478,00, Lamar’s “Meet The Grahams” supposedly brought in $92,147.

According to the outlet, the track to set it all off, Metro Boomin and Future’s “Like That,” also generated a pretty penny. With 29,978,000 counted streams, that track is estimated to have generated $134,900 in streaming income alone.

Now, these numbers could fluctuate based on Lamar’s royalty percentages (sound recording, mechanical rights, and the performance rights). Still, even if the final number dropped significantly, this is quite a massive payout for essentially airing out your grievances. Most people have to pay a therapist big bucks for that.

Drake And Kendrick Lamar’s Messy Feud Could Be Over After One Of The Rappers Seemingly Conceded Online

The feud that no one wanted or could avoid might finally be over. Longtime frenemies Drake and Kendrick Lamar’s war of words has apparently lasted long enough.

Over the last month, each has released several diss records aimed at one another starting with Lamar’s jabs on Metro Boomin and Future’s song, “Like That.” Although Drake’s multiple responses including “Family Matters” were valiant efforts, Lamar’s “Not Like Us” has been crowned the unwavering winner by the masses, which includes Uproxx‘s hip-hop editor Aaron Williams.

Today (May 11), Drake somewhat agreed by seemingly conceded to Lamar via his Instagram Stories. After taking a moment to celebrate his mom Sandra for Mother’s Day, the “First Person Shooter” rapper closed out his string of posts with a subtle message to Lamar.

The photographer featured a Japanese Samurai surrounded by an army of hundreds captioned: “Good times. Summer vibes up next.”

If you were waiting for a white flag to be waved, this is the closest thing to it because Lamar sure isn’t going to bow out anytime soon.

Drake put up a good fight. But he simply can’t win everything. At least he still has the vicious win from his spat with Meek Mill under his belt.
