Kanye West Takes Another Swipe At Kid Cudi In A Post Declaring Adidas CEO Kasper Rørsted ‘Dead At 60’

Kanye West may have dialed down his Instagram petty to only celebrating his perceived enemies’ supposed failures, but he’s packing double the vitriol in those posts, often lashing out at two in the same post. His preferred secondary target is Kid Cudi, who he zings in the subheadlines of the bizarre fake New York Times covers he has been posting to strike out at rivals such as Pete Davidson and Adidas CEO Kasper Rørsted.

In his latest post, he declares the latter “also dead at 60,” calling back to his post about Pete. In the subheadline, though, he throws two jabs at once, writing, “I know what you’re thinking… who is Kasper? but even less importantly who is Kid Cudi?”

Actually, I was thinking how badly Kanye needs a copy editor, but I digress. In Kanye’s previous dig at his former artist, Kanye sniped at him for cutting his Rolling Loud set short after fans threw objects onstage. “Kid Cudi meant to play funeral but fearful of bottle throwers,” he trolled. His latest shot is likely a response he’s been sitting on since Cudi told Esquire he has no plans to reconcile with his former mentor.

“With all due respect, I’m not Drake,” he said. “It’s gonna take a motherf*cking miracle for me and that man to be friends again. I don’t see it happening. He gon’ have to become a monk.” Cudi later clarified that he meant no disrespect to Drake, with whom he previously did have a feud but they’ve since made up.

Kanye’s beef with Rørsted, meanwhile, stems from his belief that the Adidas chief is responsible for the company seemingly distancing itself from Kanye while continuing to use his designs, which is not in any way Kanye’s own fault for acting like a colicky toddler for the past year or so. Rørsted is stepping down as CEO sometime this year. May whoever succeeds him finally drop Kanye so he can enjoy his creative freedom, or whatever.

Who Are Kid Cudi’s ‘To The Moon World Tour’ Openers?

In September, Kid Cudi’s ambitious new album project, Entergalactic, is coming out alongside its animated series component. Naturally, that also means a tour, which Cudi announced earlier this summer and kicked off this week in Vancouver. The To The Moon World Tour will see him traverse the United States before hopping the pond for dates in Japan, Denmark, The Netherlands, The United Kingdom, Belgium, France, and Italy.

Of course, he’ll be bringing along some friends to support him on the tour, including Denzel Curry, 070 Shake, and YSL rapper Strick. Meanwhile, burgeoning Houston star Don Toliver, who was previously billed to appear as well, was forced to drop out due to logistical issues. He explained his absence in his own statement on Twitter writing, “Unfortunately due to production/logistical issues I am no longer able to appear on the `To the Moon’ tour with Kid Cudi. My top priority is creating an experience that my fans deserve. We tried every possible option but ultimately there was no solution.”

The remaining openers should be able to put on a worthwhile show of their own. Denzel Curry is fresh off the release of his new album, Melt My Eyez See Your Future, and has been on a tour of his own to warm up ahead of supporting Kid Cudi’s early dates. 070 Shake’s new album is called You Can’t Kill Me and she’ll be picking up where Denzel leaves off. Strick, who just dropped his mixtape, The Machine Vol. 3, will carry the torch for YSL through all of the US dates except Cudi’s hometown performance in Cleveland at his Moon Man’s Landing Festival.

Kid Cudi Didn’t Mean To Shade Drake While Talking About His Broken Friendship With Kanye West

Although social media has been a huge boon in helping artists promote their work, it has also come with a huge drawback. In the era of the subtweet, any comment an artist makes in any medium will eventually make its way to Twitter, where overzealous fans will dissect it and reinterpret it for any trace of malice toward another artist (this is deranged behavior, by the way. Knock it off).

Savvy artists can do their best to get ahead of this phenomenon — or at least play defense a little — by making their own statements on Twitter to try and control the narrative. That’s what Kid Cudi did yesterday, perhaps sensing that one of his comments from a newly published Esquire cover story would be read the wrong way — or even seeing tweets already determining that he was being shady. In the story, he addresses his broken friendship with Kanye West, saying it’d take a “miracle” to mend fences and using another recently buried hatchet as an example.

“With all due respect, I’m not Drake, who’s about to take a picture with him next week and be friends again, and their beef is squashed,” he said. “That’s not me. What I say, I mean. I will be done with you. It’s gonna take a motherf*cking miracle for me and that man to be friends again. I don’t see it happening. He gon’ have to become a monk.” This, of course, is a reference to the two frenemies’ Free Larry Hoover Concert last year, which they held after years of trading passive-aggressive jabs in their music and social posts (to be fair, this also confused Kendrick Lamar).

But before fans could run with any speculation that Cudi has beef with Drake (which wouldn’t be entirely unfounded), Cudi himself made sure to clarify his meaning. “Just to be clear, I wasnt tryna throw a shot at Drake,” he wrote. “I got love 4 him. My point I was tryna make is that im not so forgiving. Meaning he might be a lil nicer than me in that situation w dude. Thats all. Maybe that came off wrong thru my words. So yea, all good w Drake.”

Although Kids See Ghosts fans were probably distressed by Cudi’s comments, there’s a bright side here. Despite his harsh words for Kanye, there was a time when it seemed Cudi would never reconcile with Drake. For that matter, plenty of seemingly insurmountable splits were repaired throughout the history of rap, including one of its most infamous ones between Jay-Z and Nas. So, nothing is impossible. And with Kanye becoming more and more of a recluse, he’s about halfway to being a monk as it is. We can only hope he actually, sincerely, makes amends.

Kid Cudi Clarifies He Wasn’t Throwing Shade At Drake In New Interview

Kid Cudi Blasts Kanye West: “He Used His Power to F*** With Me”

Kid Cudi was featured in the latest edition of Esquire magazine where he had some non favorable things to say about Kanye West and whether or not he will ever make amends with him. In his comments about West, Cudi said that he is not Drake, and does not know when he and Ye will be friends again. Cudi is referring to last year when Drake and Kanye ended their beef and performed at the Free Larry Hoover Concert in Los Angeles.

“With all due respect, I’m not Drake, who’s about to take a picture with him next week and be friends again, and their beef is squashed. That’s not me,” Cudi said.

Many thought Cudi was trying to shade Drake, whom he has had past issues with. This prompted Cudi to respond on Twitter saying that it’s all love between him and Drizzy.

“Just to be clear, I wasnt tryna throw a shot at Drake. I got love 4 him,” Cudi tweeted. “My point I was tryna make is that im not so forgiving. Meaning he might be a lil nicer than me in that situation w dude. Thats all. Maybe that came off wrong thru my words. So yea, all good w Drake.”

Cudi and Ye, who have been close friends since 808’s & Heartbreak and who even put out a joint project Kids See Ghosts in 2018, had a falling out this past year after Kanye believed he was siding with Pete Davidson amidst his divorce from Kim Kardashian. Kanye would take to Twitter to publicly bash Cudi and call him disloyal for still being friends with Pete.

Cudi addressed Ye’s IG posts saying that they negatively impacted his mental health.

“Do you know how it feels to wake up one day, look at your social media, and you’re trending because somebody’s talking some shit about you?” Cudi said. “And then you got this person’s trolls sending you messages on Instagram and Twitter? All in your comments? That shit pissed me off. That he had the power to fuck with me that week. That he used his power to fuck with me. That pissed me off. You fucking with my mental health now, bro.”
